Last year I had a spider bite on my inner thigh. At first it was just a small red bump, but then it grew into what looked like a ring worm. A week later it was the size of a tennis ball and the center of it was a infectious white and itchyyyy as poison ivy. I showed it to my family in India via web cam, she knew immediately what to do. Said just wet it, pour table salt on it and let it sit for at least 20 min. After about one minute it began to burn some, nothing unbearable, although i only let it stand for about 5 min as I'm a big baby. It WORKED!! Dried it up in a matter of days. Since then, I have done this remedy for a number different insect bites, even have done on poison ivy and same result. A few days of doing this once at night cleared it. You can literally feel the salt drawing out the poisons.

I feel like you saved my life! I had tried everything to treat the abscess in my pubic area, and as soon as I read your post I tried the salt, and I still can't believe how it worked. THANK YOU and your family.

RE: Carla from Greenville, Nc : What type of abscess did you have in your pubic area? And how exactly did you use the salt? I have been trying everything to rid myself of an abscess in the same area. I am so afraid to have this surgically removed.

For boils/staph, & I'm pretty sure it should work on spider bites, ect. PORK SALT!! Or bacon, which I have used personally on mild staph boils. Sliced & put against skin (boil)with bandage over it. Change out 3-4 times a day,& you should see an incredible improvement within 36 to 48hrs. The fat (or oils) sure seem to be the DRAWING ticket. The bandage thing was much easier for on the job working conditions, & on the kids, it's almost a must.

Salt Pork will cure a Pilonidal Cyst (really bad boil). Place small piece of salt pork directly on boil, it will sting, however it will "dry" up the boil in a matter of days.

wow, wish I would have known about the pionadal cyct, I had it surgicaly removed and it was a long thing growing around my spine it would inflame and cause great great deal of pain. I had one for several years. Since alot of travel flared up often the pain was so intense. , now I have mrsa. And the boils form under the skin deep. A small pimple like head pops up. And once you pop it. The real deal starts to fill and it hurts. I take a anti biotic every dayfor it. But the one now is breaking me down. I know how bad it will get. So many heartcaths in same area. I got it after a cath procedure. Even comes up on my arm sometimes. Ugly scars. I want to pop this thing now but thats when it relly gets going. I didnt know so many others had them too, I wish you all well.

Hi there, I have been plagued (!) by chronic furunculosis for a number of years now and was searching for cures when I came across your site. I am rushing out now to buy some tumeric. I also find Scheussler tissue salts help - I take all the blood cleanser ones as well as the hayfever since that addresses allergies generally. Rubbing a fresh cut onion as often as you like on the boils also helps enormously, and use antiseptic cream and phisohex wash. Hope this helps others.

I stopped using sea salt and tried regular iodized table salt and I paid the price for my stupidity. Now that I have sea salt again, my outbreak is calming down. Ted is absolutely correct about sea salt. There are studies showing that magnesium inhibits staph. Sea salt is rich in magnesium. Everybody in this forum needs to pay close attention to Ted.

Dear Carolyn: The pH of an Iodized salt is quite acid at pH of 5, while a sea salt is 8. Staph generally flourishes in an acidic medium.

Take a hot shower. Scrape the whitehead off, squeeze it (hurts I know), put a bandaid on it for a few minutes (or other absorbant material) and apply Shark oil. It dries the skin but also the soar(s). You will see a difference in 2-4 hours. Apply cider vinegar a few times a day. Shark oil before bed. Dont stop outbreaks but sure gets rid of the boils.

... But how can you get it to come to a head? Mine are under my arm and they never come to a head - I usually have to get them lanced open and packed with gauze.

Homeopathic Silica/Silicea for Boils

I wrote to you a few days ago about a yeast infection after half a dose of turmeric. I'm writing you now to tell you what finally worked for me.

After treating the yeast infection, I tried turmeric capsules with a probiotic for two days. The yeast did not come back, but the boils didn't get any better -- in fact, one got worse. I've had two below the waist for quite some time that weren't very painful. My doctor told me I had "a little hidradenitis suppurativa" and if I didn't want to take antibiotics there wasn't really anything she could do for me; just continue the hot compresses and hope for the best.

Last week during the yeast infection treatment I got another boil that was much more painful. It just kept getting bigger and more painful until I could barely sit down or walk. I've tried everything; the turmeric internally, along with, topically: aloe vera, calendula salve, Neosporin, hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, hot compresses, hot Epsom salt compresses, baking soda with honey, and this one just kept getting bigger and sorer and more distended.

Since I've responded well to homeopathy in the past, today I googled "homeopathy boils" and found several sites that listed a number of remedies that help with this problem. I chose Silica/Silicea (it's spelled both ways) as the description sounded most like what I was suffering. I went to the health food store and got the remedy (30C) and took a dose right away. Two hours later, I felt quite sleepy and chilled and went to bed. I woke up 40 minutes later to find that the two largest boils closest to the surface of the skin were draining bloody fluid. I had chills really bad all afternoon but I've continued to take the 30C dose every 3-4 hours as recommended and the wounds have kept draining all afternoon and evening. The smaller boils that I had are already starting to get smaller from the inside. The largest, most painful one is much smaller and less painful and as long as I can keep it clean I imagine it will eventually heal fine. I'm so relieved that the pain is going away and hopeful that the problem will resolve in a few days or weeks.

hello everyone, i was doing some research on skin boils and came across a site that listed different types of skin boils and what supplements to take for them. if you have recurring boils you might want to try taking silica or silicea goes by two different names but is the same thing. had a recurring boil for over a year that just would not go completely away, have tried numerous remedies, hardly any worked except for the vinegar directly on the boil, but that was temporary i was looking for something to stop it from coming back. surely enough i came across that website and i tried the silica and the boil is almost gone it's been only two weeks and i feel better, bought silica at my local health food store, i was at my wits end with this boil thing, but the silica seems to help like no other. the antibiotics didn't help of course, this just may be it. just thought i'd post it hopefully it will help someone else.

I used to use an incredibly awesome turmeric/manuka honey combination for most boils. Turmeric is a miracle substance, but it stains everything. So, about a year ago I started using silver gel on a boil as soon as I detected it ; that, combined with a non-stick medical pad, and that boil would soon disappear. The neatest thing is, is that it seems to have diminished the frequency of the boils, as well. I also use it on my teen's pimples and it zaps them as well. I also use silver gel and/or manuka honey in place of polysporin now. Good health, everybody!

The only boil I ever had was on my knee after skinning it on playground sand in California 66 yrs ago. I don't remember what the doctor did for it, but I do remember him squeezing the core out of it. I have heard that 'resentment' is at the basis of a lot of boils, and once I mentioned that to a relative, her son's endless boils seemed to go away. Glad to hear about the turmeric, as I have been thinking about getting some.

Keep up the good work....

EC: Thanks for the feedback, Mr. E.

We do have a few posts on the site warning people not to squeeze, lance, or apply heat to a boil as doing so can spread the infection. This can be especially dangerous if the boil is MRSA.

In 1973 after the birth of my second son, I had a boil which I lanced and got blood poisoning from. I had a course of anti-biotics which didn't help, I then got another boil, not long after. I took 'staal druppels' I cannot remember how many drops at a time, only for a couple of days, I have not had a re-occurence of boils since then.

EC: Staal druppels (translates to "steel drops") is a liquid that bonds open wounds. Does not appear to be sold in the USA.

Staph- Related

Have the inside of your nose tested for staph!!! I suffered from staph infections on my legs and butt for years in the form of boils and abscesses. I went to numerous doctors, western, acupuncturists, and naturopaths. I tried every recommendation I heard, I even only ate alkaline food, cut out sugar, wheat, meat, and dairy. Last month I saw a dermatologist and he asked if my nose had ever been tested. In none of my countless doctors visits and online forums did I hear/read anything about this. But he tested my nose, found staph, and then gave me bactroban cream to put in my nose every night before bed for two weeks. After the two weeks of putting the cream in my nose, I was retested and I no longer have staph!! I used to get abscesses when I didn't get enough sleep or was stressed out. I just completed my third, and most stressful, semester of graduate school and am fine! I cannot stress this enough, the dermatologist changed my life!

Stop Antibiotics, Stop Shaving

Posted by Light Bulb (Ny) on 02/08/2012

Hello, I am a long time sufferer of boils, ingrown hair, and eczema. I have tried evrything u can think of to cure my ailments. Over the counter, scripts. U name it I have tried. I used to get boils mainly in the pubic area, and under my arms, and on my inner upper thighs, buttocks. Ugh. It was driving me crazy. First off what I did to try and cure it was stop taking the antibiotics. Now do not negate the fact that if you have a bad infection you need antibiotics to ward off the infections. What does the damage is the continuous intake of the drug because you build an immunity to it. Therefore it gets harder for you to the fight the infection off. It is crucial that you only use anti bacterial ointments or soaps on the place of infection. You lessen the depletion of the natural flora (good bacteria) that your body is supposed to have. Next stop shaving. It is better to cut down hair in the most sensitive areas of your body because they get the least exposure therefore are more prone to developing infections.

When I was about 5 or 6 yrs old, I acquired "VERY LARGE BOILS ON MY LEGS( NEARLY THE SIZE OF A SILVER DOLLAR), in the state of W.Va. they were referred to as "CARBUCKLES", they have not only a large scab, but they have long "CORES" as well which can leave a large cavitation in your skin, when pulled out ! It was usually done by"LANCING THE BOIL"removing the scab then pulling the core out,"HURTS LIKE HELL"! My Grandmother couldn't bring herself to causing me a lot of pain, so she called me into the kitchen one day, I remember having 5 or 6 on my legs, she took one of the old style tablespoons (to me it looked like a huge "coal shovel") heaping with sugar, soaked in in Kerosene from her kerosene lamp, grabbed my nose to make me open wide and made me swallow every bit of !! THEY FELL OFF IN A COUPLE OF DAYS, AND HAD "NO CORE". Every time I read the name or word "BOILS" I REMEMBER!! IT LEFT A LASTING IMPRESSION... LOLOLOLO
