After countless endoscopic sinus surgeries and prescription meds which did not help or relieve the sinus congestion and infections, I added coconut oil to my nasal rinse before going to bed. I slept better (snoring stopped and sinus congestion improved significantly) after 1 use. So with this miraculously fast improvement, I dipped a q-tip in melted coconut oil (cooled to room temperature) and rubbed it deep in both nostrils. Within 30 minutes, I was blowing out all kinds of yucky stuff, relieving the sinus congestion. I was amazed... and am now a true believer in the miracle of coconut oil.

In reply to Christine on the acupressure page under myopia:

Posted by Christine (Virginia Beach, Virgnia) on 02/01/2009: "Modern day Chinese people have overcome myopia through the usage of acupressure massage techniques. Some of them are listed in the eBook you have mentioned. Today I started doing them. While it is too early to tell whether they will overcome myopia or not, I can tell you that my eyes already feel more relaxed, and my sinuses are draining better. Perhaps these exercises will help sinus trouble in addition to the myopia that plagues our nation."

For cure of sinuses the best cure is elderflower juice.

How to make:

  • Take one lemon and put into a pint of boiling water and let it get soft. Then put in about forty heads of elder flower and let it simmer for about twenty minutes.
  • Then let it cool or strain anď squeeze all juice out.
  • Put back into saucepan and heat up with half a bag of sugar and leave it heating until it melts the sugar.
  • Let it cool and bottle it.
  • Take about two teaspoons of juice every day.

You should be fine for winter plus summer, but it must be taken every day.

Enjoy yourself. May God bless.

I have suffered with really bad sinus for over 2 years. It has been getting worse and worse to the point that I could not even smell or taste anything for over a year! I was in my local Dischem chemist looking for yet another cure when the sales assistant asked me if I ate BANANAS???? Bananas??? She said I should just try cutting them out for a month. Well, I had already cut out dairy, wheat, sugar all to no avail so it was worth a try.

Its been over 2 months now and no more sneezing, sinus and my taste and smell have returned!!!! JUST AMAZING!!!

Thank you Thank you Dischem lady!!!! <3

I have been suffering from stuffy sinuses for years! I thought it was my cat! I finally figured out that it was the moisturizer I was using on my face that caused it! Just one day is all it took to cure the problem. ONE DAY!!!! Argh. I used a big name natural oatmeal kind even. No moisturizer, no stuffy sinuses.

I also discovered that the big name conditioner I was using has been causing me fibromyalgia-type symptoms in my neck and shoulders and arms. I wash with dish soap and feel much better! Crazy world. I have waist length hair. I discovered I actually don't really need conditioner even. I just brush my hair once it has dried. A little spritz of vinegar keeps the static away. If the ends are too dry I put a tiny bit of hand lotion on them.

On a side note, I have been using Borax for washing for a while. The other day I washed my face with the rag dampened with Borax solution and my face looked sunburned afterward. Other bar soaps seemed to do the same thing sometimes. Dunno if it was the Borax, but a word of caution just in case.

Awesome site :)

Remedy for sinus/chest congestion

This remedy will unfortunately make you miserable before it makes you better! You will need: cayenne pepper or chili powder (either works), garlic pepper, black pepper and red pepper. In a medium saucepan, add 3-4 tablespoons of each (enough to where you can really smell the pepper - it might make you start to sneeze, that's good). Bring the water to a simmer - not a boil, that will make it too hot. Put your face over the pot - not too close - and breathe in the steam through your nose and mouth. Make sure you have plenty of tissues handy, since you will start sneezing and coughing up all the gunk that is in your sinuses and your chest! Once you are done with this treatment your sinuses/lungs will feel much better, though.

Optional ingredients: mint leaves, ginger.

If you have a very stuffed up nose and have difficulty breathing especially when you want to sleep, try this!

Twist a piece of tissue paper or kitchen roll into a wick shape and dip into olive oil and let it soak for a second. Add a few drops of eucalyptus essential oil then use as you would a Vick's nasal stick. It soothes your nose and unblocks it really fast and is all natural ingredients.

I been using Bronner eucalyptus oil for years for winter germs.

A few drops of eucalyptus oil in steaming water did wonders for my congestion. I am still stuffy but able to breathe through both nostrils now!!! Doing this steam therapy actually released a huge nasty glob of mucus from way back that I think was causing the blockage (which is so gross, sorry, I know, but felt so good!! ). I got one ounce of the essential oil for about $5.

I had the worst allergies when I was a kid. I would be given Nyquil so I could sleep, and other OTC cold medicine to deal with the congestion. After so long the OTC products didn't work anymore and I suffered for a couple of years without any relief. I then thought of the ingredients in a lot of the OTC products and saw that Eucalyptus was in a good portion of them, so I went to the herb store and bought a bottle of it.

I then went home and added a few drops, about 10, to a small sauce pan and heated it to a boil. I then breathed in the steam with a towel over my head, and for the first time in years the pressure went away.

After a week I had no more symptoms, and my allergies are much better. I never get sinuses that are quite as swollen any more. This is fantastic. I add about 10 drops to a cup of unscented bath salts and take a bath in it if I feel sick. If I am having a cold I add Menthol oil to it as well and it clears up any congestion that I have and makes my body feel less yucky. I love this stuff. I wanted to share it with every one, as I hadn't seen it on here. I recommend this over anything else for congestion.

I like to add a little eucalyptus with water in a bowl and microwave it for a few minutes and put a towel over my head and take in all the steam. It gets stuff out of your system so be prepared to clear up.

Bret from Bean Station TN wrote that just getting up - moving around - walk, exercise -causes shrinkage of nasal passages. I must have missed that the first time around because I thought I discovered the following all by myself: Two nights ago, when it was obvious I could forget about sleeping, I stumbled into the room where I keep my small trampoline, and in the dark, I got aboard, hanging onto the window frame for support, and I jumped. Pure magic! The obvious explanation - what Bret said. So last night, I did my jumping just BEFORE bed -again pure magic. I know there are other problems of the nose, but what if this is all you ever needed to try?

For temperary releif of Sinus Congestion, simply get up and move around, walk, excersise, etc. Adrenalin is a natural decongestant that is produced when we are active. You'll notice your nasal passeges will shrink making it easier to breathe.

For a sinus remedy try Ginger tablets (travel sickness tablets) or chewing on raw ginger. Crystalised doesn't work.

I want to shout this from the roof tops!

My husband has had terrible sinus congestion for months! Because it felt as though he had some sort of barrier in his left nostril, even his CPAP machine wasn't allowing him to breathe. Sleepless night... tons of money on meds... countless nosebleeds because of all of the nasal sprays... he was miserable and feeling a little desperate.

Then, as the last resort, I searched and came across your ginger root remedy. $2.00 for a huge ginger root that I peeled, cut into chunks and steeped for 4 hours in a pot of water with 2 green tea bags. Dan sipped on the surprisingly yummy tea all evening, and for the first time in MONTHS, he's completely clear! There wasn't a dramatic loss of mucus, but for whatever reason, I believe it shrunk the swollen nasal passages, and for the last 3 nights in a row, he's slept ALL night, clear as a bell! He didn't even snore! I can't even begin to tell you what a HUGE blessing this remendy is for us.

I work with a Japanese woman who told me that ginger root also helps digestive issues and menstral cramps. We've decided to make ginger root tea part of our daily routine. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

Sinus Cure I had really bad sinus congestion about a month. After trying all kinds of over the counter products I decided to try a natural remedy using fresh ginger root.I cut about 2-3 onces off the ginger root, peeled it.Then I placed it inside a tea cup of water and put it in the micro wave for 3 minutes and allowed it to cool a little before sipping.I did not notice the results until three days later, I went to blow my nose and lots of brown mucus came out of my nose.I drank a few more cups after that and now I feel clear and more better.

Been to the doctor so many times and doctor told me to take claritin to release the pressure in my ears and nose. I had MRI due to pain under my right jaw when nose is clogged and I had it for the last 2 years and cured after eating garlic with honey for 7 days. I minced the garlic and downed with organic honey and water. I also made some garlic nasal rinse and do it when taking a shower so I can wash the garlic smell off on me. It did help a lot and I am so thrilled that now before going to bed and waking up in the morning my nose is not clogged anymore, what a relief! Not taking the claritin anymore and I will replace it by eating garlic at least one clove a day for the rest of my life. Thanks for all the tips and post that everyone had shared here.
