CANTALOUPE

1 YEA

[YEA]  05/02/2006: Crystal from Post Falls, Idaho writes: "For healthier skin try eating cantaloupe. it is said to give your skin a naturally beautiful, sun kissed glow."

06/09/2008: Breah from Seattle, Washington replies: "Actually cantaloupe doesn't cure anything specifically, water does. Even with at least eight glasses a day, you most likely are not getting as much of the vitamins and minerals as you could. Drink truly filtered water, not Brita water. I use water filtered by a gravity filter which is guaranteed to remove all harmful chemicals and bacteria and more. I then water my organic vegetables and fruits with it, and they do wonders! No aftertastes, bigger, healthier plants, and cantaloupe so juicy it may seem to be a cure."

CASTOR OIL AND FACIAL EXERCISES

1 YEA

[YEA]  06/23/2008: Olivia from Brooklyn, New York writes: "I had hated castor oil for many years because growing up in South America it was a quarterly cleansing ritual by my mother and many others. This website has helped me to see castor oil in a new way. I have been applying it occasionally to my face at night. Every time I do so, I absolutely love the way I look in the morning. My skin looks toned and fresh. Yesterday I attended a function and saw a woman whom I had not seen for about two years. She kept saying "you have to tell me what you are doing, you look ten years younger. I have also been doing facial exercises. She asked her daughter for my number because she said she is determined to find out what I had done to my face. Many people were in the room and she was quite vocal so I just replied that I had been taking care of myself. I will tell her privately. I think the castor oil definitely helped my skin plus the facial exercises helped tone the muscles under the skin. I used to hate the mirror, now I glance at it ever so often. Thanks for the castor oil tip."

CASTOR OIL MOISTURIZER

3 YEA

[YEA]  03/02/2008: Brooke from Montgomery, TX writes: "I have religiously used castor oil for over 22 years on my face. About three times per week, I put it on my face and neck and go to sleep! It has continually given me a fresh look, and I have no wrinkles. I also rub it on my elbows and knees. I wash my face with Dr.Bronners Castile Almond soap. The castor oil is a little thick, but keep on trying it. You will get used to it."

[YEA]  09/07/2007: Evita from Chiba City, Japan writes: "Castor Oil removes crows feet and wrinkles on the forehead. Mine is not about illness or disease being cured by the castor oil packs. Mine is more of a mundane matter that concerns women about their facial beauty. The tale tell signs (wrinkles) that gives a woman sleepiness nights, avoids facing the mirrors yet counting out the crows feet and how many more lines crisscrossing the forehead. i advise my facial rituals to anybody who is interested to try and apply this very simple application.

Firstly....wash your face with lukewarm water. gently soap the forehead and around the eyes area. Wipe the face with clean towel and let it dry for a few minute. second... into your palm pour a little amount of castor oil. Dab a little amount of oil into the forehead enough to cover the whole area and massage. repeat the ritual around your eyes and be sure the crow's feet get enough of the ointment. If after the massage , you skin is still oily, just press the area with a soft facial tissue. Do not wipe off the ointment.

Do this ritual every night before bedtime, once a day only. It makes you look 15 years younger and you can save money by avoiding botox implants."

12/05/2007: Arial from Richmond, USA replies: "I saw the post on the Fountain of Youth page from the woman in Japan who used Castor Oil to reduce wrinkles. I wanted to find out if anyone else has had success with Castor Oil and if so, about how long did it take to get results. Thanks!"

[YEA]  04/15/2009: Dianna from Austin, TX replies: "I love castor oil! I started using it on my eyelashes and the first night I could tell that where I had gotten it on my face - that it was smooth and healthy looking. Now I apply it every night after I wash my face. For some reason it seems to me that the refined castor oil works better for this than the cold-pressed. For face washing I either use a wash cloth and water - or a bit of chandan powder on damp skin. Then I rinse and leave my skin damp and apply the castor oil first to my eyelashes, and then rub about a quarter sized amount into my palms and massage it all over my face and neck. I also add several drops of lavender essential oil to my castor oil.

In the morning I just splash my face with cool water and use a tiny bit of either virgin coconut oil or jojoba/sandalwood oil. My face feels sooo smooth and my forehead lines are much diminished! Try it! It is cheap and easy to do. You will see results the first morning! I promise :) It also makes your eyelashes and eyebrows grow to their full potential because they will not be so dry and break off. I also use it on the ends of my hair and sometimes on my scalp before bed."

CHINESE RED DATES, HONEY

1 YEA

[YEA]  01/26/2007: Trisha from Singapore writes: "I started taking red date and honey as I read it is good for blood circulation, I added 3 -5 drops of apple cider vinegar to it ( balance of the yin and yang in the body and for calming too.. according to traditional chinese medicine) lo and behold, after 3 months of it.. I noticed that a balding part of my scalp rejuvenated and hair started to grow !! after 6 months I started to let my hair grow without cutting it, I now sport hair beyond shoulder length, something which I couldn't do since my hair was very fine and scanty !! ( I also take apple cider vinegar half a teaspoon daily with honey) My sister and brother also tried it, we noticed that facial skin became more youthful !! due to the blood circulation?"

[QUESTION]  01/29/2009: AKR from Jersey City, NJ, USA writes: "I am wondering what would make for a good summer facial moisturizer. During the winter, I use Virgin Coconut Oil, which works great. But for the summer, I need something thinner and less oily. Any suggestions please? Many thx."

01/29/2009: Robin from Rural, VA replies: "Tr Aloe Vera Gel."

09/04/2009: Elizabeth from New York, New York, Usa replies: "This is a reply to AKR from Jersey City:

As an alternative to coconut oil during summer months, try jojoba oil. It is lighter and more appropriate for warm weather and humidity, when our skin produces more of its own oils. But truthfully, coconut oil may only need an adjustment of application method to be used during summer months. You may want to try applying it when you first wake up, before completing the rest of your morning regimen (this gives it time to absorb). Then, with clean hands, give one last (quick--ten seconds or so) facial massage to press the oil deeper, and take a dry, soft cloth and sweep it over your face. Tissue can also be used, if preferred. This should effectively remove any excess, leaving just the coconut oil that your skin readily absorbed. A light dusting of cosmetic powder (or for those who do not wear makeup, any good skincare powder from a drugstore) applied afterward will even further reduce any shine or oiliness."

09/07/2009: Bev from Long Beach, Ca replies: "Hi; I have been using Virgin Coconut Oil to oil pull for the past 2 to 3 months, 3 to 4 times per week for 20 minutes. I cannot believe how my skin looks all over. It's shinny all the time and soft. I don't use any topical lotions because I don't need to. I noticed when I get out of the shower, the water on my skin beads. There is no greasy feeling just soft. Hope this helps."

[YEA]  12/13/2008: Leena from Montrose, CO writes: "I am 56 years young and my skin was getting a bit wrinkled. I started putting the organic virgin coconut oil from the health food store on my skin after showering...after two weeks..my skin looks like a 30 year old. What you do is take a spoon and take the coconut oil in it and rub it into the palms of your hands and it melts then use it like a lotion on your whole body. You will be amazed!"

[SIDE EFFECTS]  10/08/2008: Christine from Tokyo, Japan writes: "I have been using organic virgin coconut oil on my face and body for 2 weeks now. It has improved the texture of my skin however I seem to always looked flushed on my face and neck, almost looks like I am sunburnt. I have very fair skin and have been using only a medium coverage amount on my face and neck so that it absorbs almost completly. Has anyone else experienced this and does it calm down? Is it removing the dead skin layers as it seems to look like the effects of a light chemical peel?

Thank you"

10/10/2008: Sandy from Bangalore, India replies: "Yes, coconut oil causes sun-burn. Please don't expose your skin to the sun after applying coconut oil to it. Best time to apply coconut oil is before bed-time and wash it off the next morning."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  05/28/2009: shygirllatina from Sun City, Ca,.U.S.A. replies: "I used coconut oil also in the evening and it also caused my skin to flush I didn't go out in the sun. I thought maybe it was just me also. Honey and bannana mashed and mixed together are also good for the skin. equal amounts of both."

[YEA]  06/13/2008: Lazaro from Laredo, Texas, US writes: "I have been using coconut oil for about an year now, and I love it! I rarely drink it, however, I use it as a lotion instead of the store brand. My skin looks and feels great. Since it is a bit oily, I started to put it on my face. Mostly around my eyes and forehead. My younger sister commented once that I don't have any wrinkles and she has. She wanted to know my secret. I told her of course. I further told her that if you cannot drink the store brand lotions, why is she putting it on her skin? Coconut oil can be eaten. I also use it to moisten my lips. And on a couple occasions for hemorrodes- I know I misspelled that."

[WARNING!]  04/06/2008: Lindsey F from Dover, NH writes: "I have been using coconut oil as a moisturizer for about a year now.

I read on numerous internet sites and blogs about how it was a miracle product for all kinds of skin ailments including acne.

So I started using on my face and body--it has been a great replacement for body lotion, and has mildly improved the keritosis pilaris on my upper arms, but using it on my face was a BIG mistake! I am still suffering from the consequences (pimples all over, including places where I had NEVER had them before). I have since learned that people with small pores, like me, should not use thick natural oils on the face, because the molecules are too large. People with larger pores (darker skin usually) can benefit from it, but it can really clog up people will small pores! Jojoba and tea tree oils are the only oils suitable for my delicate face.

Just want to warn others!"

05/19/2008: Jo Ana Starr from Tucson, AZ replies: "Sorry about your experience with coconut oil. I have small pores like you and very fair sensitive skin. I use coconut oil daily on my face with no outbreaks. Are you using Extra Virgin Coconut oil ? Coconut oil has anti-bacterial properties among its other beneficial qualities and it's possible that the coconut oil brought bacteria to the surface to allow it to release. I love this stuff and couldn't be without it. I hope your skin situation corrects itself soon ! "

05/21/2008: Susan replies: "Just wanted to add, I also have fair sensitive skin with very small pores (dry skin too) and coconut oil has been wonderful, both internally and externally. When I first started I did get a few breakouts on my face for about a week. I had a funny gut feeling that this was somehow a cleansing reaction, and it after the week it cleared up completely; since then no problems at all. It's been great. Maybe this is what you were experiencing? - or maybe it's just not the right thing for your skin. But anyway it's not because of having small pores..."

[YEA]  04/03/2008: Toni from Las Vegas, NV writes: "To those of you who have had problems with using coconut oil on the face resulting in breakouts, redness, whiteheads etc. If you wish to try Coconut oil on the face use only a very, very thin layer. I'm talking a teeny, tiny amount. You could also try coconut soap instead to clean the face. There are many good natural brands online from which to choose."

[YEA]  01/23/2008: Amelia from Adelaide, Australia writes: "Hi, i was on the phone to my mother last night and she has always been one to test and try every anti-aging, wrinkle reducing cream on the planet and never had any success. However when calling me up she kept ranting on about this miracle coconut oil and how she read about it in one of her anti-ageing books. She remarked that while she was watching tv my younger sister kept looking over at her, but my mum just ignored this, then she noticed that my sister was staring at her the next day. Eventually my sister asked "what are you using on your face?" to which my mum replied "nothing..." My sister then asked well have you got makeup or bronzer on..and again mum said "no". She told my sister that she had been swallowing 3 teaspoons a day of organic coconut oil. My sister couldnt stop remarking how young my mum looked, with all her wrinkles reduced by over 50%. Well now my sister who is only 16 is addicted to the stuff. Coconut oil really is a miracle."

[YEA]  08/10/2007: Shai from New York , NY writes: "I thought i might add my few cents to all the wonderful formulas for beauty and longevity at this most generous site. After my mother and brother passed away from cancer i begain to have chronic eczema/psoriasis hair loss and depression. I decided to investigate into superfood and longevity herbs and adaptogens. I was also obsessed with skin remedies in order to reverse my overactive immune system. I remember how i got this problem, using chemical hair remover for my arms and legs NAIR. ai threw out all chemicals from my home. I did cleanses parasite, liver kidney and digestive, and begain to take everyday cod liver oil, fish oil, flaxseed oil Udo's blend, blackseed oil borage and evening primrose oil. For skin, only pure essential oil from a trusted brand. I use pure helychrisum everlasting as a face oil. Once or twice a week i steam my face with a few drops of essential oil, follow with healing bentonite clay mixed with apple cider vinegar. I never use soap for my face, i cleanse my face pure pearl powder and egg white, or amla and sandalwood powder(mild astringent). Yes i do use tons of coconut oil and helychrysum at night. I have been using coconut oil, shea butter and helyschysum on my whole body for years. Its the sexiest perfume on earth! I am in my late thirties, i have two kids eleven and ten, I weigh 100 lbs. and my indian skin has a perfect tan all year round so i dont need to ever sunbathe. Lots of sleep. Lots of green and white tea, i drink gymnostemna, eat royal jelly, bee pollen, raw honey and pop some rhodiola and goji berries for good measure... the E3live and chllorella with cilantro takes care of detoxification :a clean digestion, and you have an unbeatable fountain of youth. By the way, New Chapter, a very expensive supplement company using only whole food concentrates, contains as a base: turmeric, ginger cumin coriander in almost every formula, but this is the basic combination to every dish we cook. Simple Sattvic indian food contains this stuff for a fraction of the cost every day. Eat less, drink tea, and get lots of sleep and lots of love. These are the anti-cancer regimen. peace and joy to your heart and health is all the wealth."

[YEA]  01/28/2007: Jamie from Van Nuys, CA writes: "Dry skin be gone!! I love this site, and I love testimonials. i am a sucker for them, for better or worse, and have bought many a useless thing based on them. But I am SO SO SO happy to say that this time it actually came true for me! After reading all the great stuff on the site, I bought some Virgin coconut oil. I have fairly dry skin (and always issues with acne and hating my skin) and I have religiously applied a good, natural vitamin A and E lotion everyday after showers for a long time, etc. do all the "lock in moisture" tips... but I still had dry skin, also felt tight no matter what, never that dewy, glowing thing you hear about all the time from really expensive lotions and creams. oh my god thank god for coconut oil!! i am in love with it. I have used it maybe 3 or 4 days now, all over my body and any flakiness is GONE. gone!! yay! my hands are very dry because I work with them, but when I take the time to rub in the oil it keeps it from cracking at least. I know if I am more diligent I might actually feel like I don't have man hands! ha. The best thing is when I used it for a stir fry! holy cow, in love all over again. I mean, I really do feel like I glow like an 'island beauty' when I put it on, it melts so nicely and thin and silky on body temperature, and I am a redhead so anything that helps me feeling smooth and less mottled is a godsend. honestly, i am silk, not grease. even when it goes on it's not like oil, it's bliss. I'm a little overwhelmed with how/if to take it internally, along with all the ACV, molasses, hydrogen peroxide stuff... i don't want to bombard my body.. Any suggestions on how to prioritize which of these I ingest/get in a good steady routine? Or if it's harmful to be eating coconut oil AND all this other stuff? is it too much? regardless, for dry skin coconut oil is THE WAY TO GO. hands down. OH! also feels so so nice on my face. I was worried I'd break out but so far so good. I actually, finally (sob) feel RIGHT in my skin. hasn't been so for a long time. my face actually feels lubricated, I have been stunned the past night or two that I put it on my face to realize that it feels healthy from the inside, which is literally unreal and a blessing. my self image has improved from outside, inside out! Not too be too dramatic, but I really finally feel like I can say I'm a beautiful woman, because my skin FEELS fresh, healthy and also looks it. thank you!!!"

[YEA]  01/07/2007: Lisa from Bangkok, Thailand writes: "I ingest pure virgin coconut oil twice per day. I used to have dry scaly skin. I tried the most expensive lotion brands: Loccitane, Origins, Bath & Body Works -- but nothing made my skin shiny and smooth. After two weeks of ingesting coconut oil and using externally my skin began to shine! My boyfriend couldn't stop touching me and everyone thought I was pregnant because my skin glowed. I am an African-American so we notoriously suffer from dry skin but now I have beautiful skin and because I live in Thailand I have access to some of the best oil around at good prices. The only mild reactions I had was gas which I took gas pills for."

COCONUT OIL, ACV

1 YEA

[YEA]  01/11/2007: Krystal from Memphis, TN writes: "I began using coconut oil on my hair and body and it is awesome. My skin is so soft. After I take my ACV bath or spray my body down with ACV after a shower, I wait until I am completely dry and rub my body down with the coconut oil. It is so good to my skin I can't help but to rub my own face and body! I began putting it around my dry cuticles; letting the oil soak in and can you believe my cuticle look awesome. I put it on my lips and let the oils soak in to make my lips softer. I don't need chap stick. I have coconut oil. I use a little on my hair and oil my scalp with it. I am going to experiment with taking it internally. I have read the comments about taking to much so I am going to start off slow. Natural products are awesome. Why don't we use what God intended! Nature! Vegetation & herbs! I love nature!"

COLLOIDAL SILVER

1 YEA

[YEA]  01/12/2008: gabi from toronto, canada writes: "re: good skin after 50. I love to read your remedies. They are very useful. I have a few for skin (face). For all kinds of acnes or boils and blemishes the best and always working is "silver water". Apply only once over affected area and give it up to 3 days. The worst boil will die!. I use colloidal silver water in spray bottle. The best bottle is after hair spray (very fine spray/mist). Another tip is using fresh lemon juice to moisturize. It works also better than the best scrubbing cream, Removes skin discolorations! I also drink fresh lemon juice every day. My skin is even, smooth and has good elasticity. PH balance is perfect and I never have any colds or flu! During winter I use coconut oil and sometimes neem oil on problem areas. I started WATER CURE2 and it makes big difference! I am going to try black strap molasses and ACV. Does anybody know receipe for enema with black strap molasses? Is wonderful to help bad constipation. It helps when doctor has no other advice than "digital treatment"! It is: 3 tbs per one glass of lukewarm water. Is safe and very beneficial because of mineral contents. I am collecting home remedies with the idea to put all of them together in a book. It you have anything simple and easy to do or use, not expensive, please email me! Thank you"

COW UDDER CREAM

Although farmers use it on cow udders, it's healing powers for humans is hard to beat. I had a cut that I was putting Neosporin on for weeks and it was just not healing. After applying the "Bag Balm" on it for 3 days the cut is almost completely healed. It works wonders on burns, cuts, dry chapped skin, etc. You can find this Bag Balm in the pet section of any grocery store for about $5. It lasts forever too."

EATING TOMATOES

1 YEA

[YEA]  06/19/2006: Nature Lover from Grand Rapids, MI writes: "Tomatoes have improved my skin. They also cure my low-intensity digestion problems. Whenever our skin does not look healthy-- pimples, etc, I and my wife found this very useful: First thing in the morning, take half a tomato. One full if it is small or a Roma tomato. Cut into 4 to 8 pieces. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper powder. Eat it. And do not eat anything for next 30 to 45 mins. That's all. Within 2-3 days, you should notice a change. If you do, continue for next 2-3 days. Make sure you eat it in the morning on an empty stomach. I guess is that it removes certain bacteria/ worms from the stomach and directly improves the skin. Hope it helps you too"
