[NAY] 04/14/2010: Mom52 from Metairie, Louisiana, Usa: "I am 58 year old black female at age 35 i found out i was pregnant 5 years later i started menopause.i stopped hormonal treatments can not afford the medicine.Could this be the reason my hair is balding in the crown of my head.I went to a dermatologist and she asked if my mother suffered from this and the answer is yes,but i started losing my hair when my daughter was about 6 months old.
Can i regrow my hair? I have been using every kind of oil you can think of. I also use once every 2 weeks a mix i put together i did not measure cayenne pepper ,ginger, 10 alfalfa supplements, 10 spirulina supplements, 10 fenugreek supplement , aloe vera jell, extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil, almond oil, put on a plastic cap, let sit for 30 minutes rinse out shampoo and condition also started using clarify shampoo once a month never did this before also went to whole food and bought pure-castile soap.

04/15/2010: Msg from Somewhere, Europe replies: "It seems that castor oil grows hair. Google it."
01/22/2011: Bulbultuk from Bangalore, India replies: "Try a mix of organic olive oil and cayenne pepper. Add 50 grams of cayenne pepper to 500ml olive oil and store in a tight bottle for 15 days. Let the transfusion season by shaking the bottle every day 2 minutes. The oil will become red and ready for use. Apply thrice a week on scalp before going to bed. Wear a shower cap to keep scalp warm and aid circulation. Wash with shampoo next morning. It may sting if the water flows to the eye, though its harmless. Done regularly will see positive results in a month or so. Eat a hair friendly diet containing omega3 fatty acids. To remove harmful toxins from the system consume half inch piece of raw ginger with each meal. Add lots of fruits and veggies to your diet. Best of luck.bbtk."
11/18/2011: Kamy from New Delhi, India replies: "Hello, I am Kamy from New Delhi. Please let me know whether we get cayenne pepper in the form or capsules anywhere in India."
[YEA] 07/13/2007: Joe Merritt from Toronto, Canada: "I just wanted to thank Ted for his brilliant work and I will help add some feedback if I can. I am 30 years of age and have had some hair thinning for about 5 years, but I truly believe with Ted's remedies and my nutrition formula i am on the way to growing a thicker, fuller main of hair. I have also delayed the loss with some of my nutrion techniques but needed to clear my pores to kick up the growth to a new level.
here is my formula: firstly i tried all of Ted's hair bath's, cider vinegar, tea tree oil etc. I found the one that truly removed the dissolved minerals(feels sticky and block's pore's on hair follicles) on my scalp was 1 teaspoon of borax in a 1% hydrogen peroxide solution. So add 1 big teaspoon of borax to a big salad bowl. then add 1 cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide(this is the only concentration i can get here in canada) and then add 2 cups of normal water to dilute the solution down to 1%-like Ted says. mix the contents and soak your scalp in it while pouring a cup of it over you head and making sure in flows back into the salad bowl. do this for three minutes. and make sure to not get this mixture in your eyes, as it will sting.
Now put a teaspoon of baking soda in a cup of water and mix and pour over hair to rinse the borax/peroxide solution. Then i like to wash hair with Dr. Bronner magic soap with tea tree oil or any other good quality health food store shampoo with tea tree oil.
O.K now we have cleared the pores, time to build the bodies supply of protein and minerals.
Firstly hair is mostly protein(then minerals) by dry weight, so eat adequate protein. Free range eggs, free range lean meats and poultry, only wild seafood(i.e. not farmed such as tilipai, basa, atlantic salmon etc.) it is full of pesticides which i am sure erode health. Actually do not eat to much sea life in general, it has good nutrition but lots of toxins. many people are allergic to dairy so organic is better for most and consider goat and sheep milk products too. also a pure whey protein isolate can build hair too.
Now onto minerals. The first source of minerals is sea salt, any good sea salt contains most trace minerals that build hair-put it on food and in soups. also my favorite product in the world is Bioforce(A. Vogel) Herbamare. it is a blend of sea salt and herbs and kelp and contains all minerals needed by the human body. Season all foods with it and especially soups and rice dishes and stocks and liquids so it dissolves and releases the nutrition.
Now also maple syrup in teas. Maple trees roots dig deep into the ground and pull up minerals in the sap of the trees and are reduced to make the syrup. They are powerful mineral concentrates. use in teas such as stinging nettle combined with rosemary and mint. etc. put in all teas and even coffee. Now here is a big one. Most alternative physicians will talk of an algae product called spirulina (and others like chlorella) and will recommend high doses of it. THEY ARE WRONG. Because it is a superfood and one of the most concentrated sources of nutrition on the planet it will mess up your hormones at medium to high doses. TAKE ONE OR TWO PILLS EVERY ONE OR TWO DAYS - NOT MORE. You are using it as a homeopathic mineralizer, not a food.
lots of stews, stocks, teas, and water based liquids with herbs, veggies, sea salt, herbamare, to build up minerals.
Drink tap water filtered with brita and changed every two weeks to a month, unless you are in a farming area and your tap is full of nitrates, then find another source.
Do not drink distilled water as it has no minerals.
i also like Ted's vitamin C water with 1/8teaspoon of baking soda to balance PH.
also waking in nature, such as a side street or park or forest to oxygenate the body and scalp. One of the causes of hair loss is a lack of oxygen i.e. when people were baseball caps. i had the thickest hair on the planet and i thinned it by wearing a ball cap when i was in my teens -stupid me.
Also stretching and yoga will oxygenate the body.
So i believe the causes of hair loss are:
fungus/minerals in hair follicles/hats or low oxygen
lack of quality protein
lack of minerals
low scalp oxygen
low fatty acids (eat cold water fish oils, flax oil, olive oil, cold filtered raw oils , not cheap processed oils.)
Now this is just a start and there much more i could write but the most important point to consider is all body types are unique so take this info with a grain of salt and experiment with what works for you.
good luck and god bless"Replies
06/04/2008: Jack from Bethnal Green, UK replies: "I have a inquery involving Joe Merritt's remedies. How often do you soak your scalp in the borax/peroxide solution? Should I be doing it everyday, every other day, a few times a week etc.?"
04/09/2009: Wanda from Lancaster, PA replies: "I'm responding to Joe Merrit's comment on misc. remedies for hair loss. He says that he likes Ted's vitamin C water remedy. Where can I find the recipe for this. Thank you very much."
EC: You might find it on at the top of this page: http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/pH.html
04/09/2009: Rob from Toronto, Canada replies: "thanks Joe for your detailed remedy... I would like to add that of course heredity plays a big factor in hair loss.though by follow much advice from EC one can perhaps minimize it.....Also about Spirulina, or blue green algae, people should take caution since these have neurotoxins which can damage health..Chlorella is a better choice though still in some doctors minds (Andrew Weil) a waste of money."
07/23/2009: Dave from Phila, PA replies: "I saw Jack from the UK asked this question so I never bother askintg the same. That was over a year ago and Joe never answered. So now it's my turn.Maybe since it was actually one of Ted's treatments then Ted might respond for us.How often should you use the Peroxide/borax solution ? Is it something you just do once and done or is it weekly, monthly, daily ???? Thanks-Dave"
09/27/2010: Pitbullblonde from Apache Junction, Arizona, Usa replies: "I would like to try the hair loss remedy of using borax and peroxide on my scalp, but was wondering if 1% peroxide would bleach out my hair - it's already blonde, and I don't want to go from pitbullblonde to pitbullplatinum overnight and have to explain my hair issues to my coworkers. Any and all information greatly appreciated, as I had always heard that peroxide would bleach out ones hair."

Nancy's Hair Growth Formula
[YEA] 04/08/2008: Nancy from Brunswick GA: "I would like to post another remedy. Can't believe how many people are interested in this remedy! I felt some of your readers might want to have this. Nancy
To grow hair:
Aloe Vera Gel and Cayenne Pepper.
1/4 to 1/2 c. of Aloe Vera and 2 capsules of cayenne pepper.( Any cayenne will do, You can use Kitchen Spice)
May need to adjust measurement of the aloe and cayenne a little more or less..For the right consistancy.
Pour mixture into a hair color bottle and shake well.
Apply to scalp, massaging in with fingertips.
This mixture will stimulate and clean the hair follicles.
The hair cycle may take a few weeks possibly months, but you will see results.
Leave on scalp at least 10 to 15 minutes or more if you wish. Can be applied weekly.
If you want to use this remedy more often I suggest you try it once and wait a few days, particularly if you have sensitive skin issues.
Caution.....This will burn somewhat, Be careful around eyes. Do not make mixture too runny as it could run into eyes.
Do not make mixture too thick as it will not squirt out of bottle.
You will continue to feel a slight burn even after this remedy is rinsed off.
Aloe Vera gel normally needs to be refridgerated, When mixing remedy allow it to sit a few hours at room tempature before applying to scalp.
Do not apply to scalp cold, as this will close your pores.
If you make more than you need, it will keep a few days in a cool place.
I have used this mixture as a facial scrub, It is a firey facial! Cayenne Pepper is great for circulation. Cayenne Pepper packs a punch, mixed with Aloe Vera and all the great things in Aloe Vera are increased.
Cayenne is called a "catalyst" herb that increases the efficacy of the ingredients you are using. "
04/14/2010: Ana from London, United Kingdom replies: "hi Nancy, what is the best cayenne to use, and can you use instead of aloe vera, coconut oil for example?
06/18/2011: Cindy from Woodbury, Nj, Usa replies: "Nancy,
What is the best cayenne pepper to buy? Is it safe to the existing hair?"
[YEA] 12/16/2007: Tima from JHB, S. Africa: "Hi! Thank you for this informative and wonderful site. I have tried Ted's recommendations, used the vitamins as directed as well as the oils. my Hair seems stronger, however when I put ACV on hair seems to fall more rapidly. What I have been told really works, is a Stinging Nettle hair wash. Boil some fresh or dried Nettle leaves for a short time, and use as a hair rinse. You will like the results. Does anyone know about the Samson's secret treatment?"Replies
11/24/2009: Viorel from Bucharest, Romania replies: "Yes, this is a well-known remedy for hair-loss in Romania - boil a handful of nettles for a few minutes and use that water (while still warm) to wash your hair. You may want to keep the mixture in your hair for a few minutes, then wash it out. Do this at least twice a week."
12/08/2010: Zuzana from Montréal, Québec, Canada replies: "Yes, nettle tea is a well known tonic against hair loss in eastern europe. It is great for everything hair-wise, and drinking a cup a day is a great prevention against hair loss, as is rinsing the hair with nettle, after shampooing. The herb also ads shine to your hair. However, you need patience, chronic hair loss doesn't stop overnight, a couple of months is usually needed to see results."
[YEA] 11/01/2012: Alena from Praha, Czech Republic replies: "Yes nettles work very well."
[YEA] 05/08/2008: NJ from New Delhi, India: "Remedies for Hair Growth:
1. Mix as per your hair length, castor oil, olive oil and coconut oil in equal measures. Warm and massage on to your scalp. This will arrest hair fall and promote hair growth.
2. Soak methi (fenugreek) seeds and curry leaves in coconut oil, overnight. Next morning warm it a little and massage it on to your scalp. The massage should be gentle, yet it should leave your scalp tingling. Rinse off with a herbal shampoo. Alternatively you could rinse it with the juice of crushed red hibiscus leaves.
Follow this regularly for best results. It will keep your scalp healthy and prevent hair fall.
3. If you can tolerate the smell of mustard oil here's a remedy. Boil mustard oil and while it is boiling, keep adding fresh henna, basil and curry leaves to it. After the leaves are burnt black, switch off the gas. Cool, strain and use twice to thrice a week for best results."
Oiling the Hair
[YEA] 01/21/2012: Dana from Nyc, Ny: "Peace & Love. I have been losing my hair since I was 9 years old, I am now 21. I was using Rogaine when it first hit the market, I was only 12. I used all sorts of crappy pills and "chemical" stuff. I was a young growing female, so I had obvious vitamin deficiencies. I was never seriously ill my entire life, nor have I ever had a bacterial infection on my skin/hair. Female baldness, however, DOES run in my family, BUT none of the women started losing their hair until they were in their mid thirties or higher.
I do believe that baldness/hair loss (for most people who arent ill) is half your genetics and half of what you put in and on your body. I have completely stopped using chemical based products on my skin or hair and will hopefully cut them out of my diet one day as well (and I mean ANY sort of chemical, don't use anything thats not EARTH GROWN on your hair and skin) I don't use those fake 'organic" ones you find at health food markets. I'm telling you ladies and men that have a history of hair loss without physical illness, to take up AYURVEDIC remedies. A nice Indian lady once told me "These Americans don't put oils on their hair that's why when they're old they are all balding!" And I swear to you it's the truth.... I dont care if you "think" you're not losing hair and you "think" your hair is lush... But compared to Eastern folk, Latin folk, and Island folk, all of us Americans look "bald". Our hair lacks lustre body and youth. YOU HAVE TO OIL UP YOUR HAIR!
Put the below list of ingredients into your hair 2-3 times a week, depending on how oily or dry your hair is (mine can get oily quick so I put it in twice a week for now)
Get Amla oil, Brahmi oil, Henna leaves or dried Henna, Coconut oil, Aloe Vera, Honey, Milk, Eggs, Some fresh cut red chillies, Castor Oil, Almond Oil, Mustard Oil. Mix it allllll up, rub it on your scalp and all through you hair *The trick is to massage it well into your scalp for 3 minutes. Wash it out in the morning with Shikakai powder (natural cleaner like baking soda) and some baking soda in water.
And try more ayurvedic recipes, many of which can be found online that are pure and organic. Take what you think would be best for you. Stop taking all the pills and chemicals, and use ONLY what you can eat. That's the trick. If you can't eat it dont put it on your body!
Once you start oiling your hair, try other remedies, like eggs and milk for a hair mask, and mix some good ayurvedic oils in the mask as well. Trust me a combination of oiling your hair and hair masks once or twice a month will do the trick and NOOOOO shampoo. Only shikakai and occasional baking soda or borax. After a while oiling you hair 2-3 times a week, your hair will being to balance between oily and dry and you can either oil your hair every night or once a week. :-) I'm telling u it works.
I have been doing this for over a year and my hair loss has been cut in half and my hair looks beautiful! My hair was always dull in color, easily tangled, and FLAT as hell.. But now its bouncy and pretty and I can even grow it long again (almost past my waist yayy! ) without having to worry about it being "too heavy" and falling out more cuz it's long (that's a buncha doodoo) :-). I'm telling you ladies, find the ayurvedic recipes that's the only way to go. I mean look at Indian ladies hair! They must be doing something right then!
Half is your genes and the other half is WHAT YOU DO! You'll never completely cure you hair loss, but it will be cut in half I promise that, and your hair will look more youthful which is also a plus. Hope this helps guys :-)"
[YEA] 01/09/2009: Faris from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: "Hi, This is with regards to my hair loss problem. I am facing alopecia this problem since 10 years without any success treating the same. I have used all kinda oils, medicines.
The only product that has given me immediate relief is Olive Oil. Mind you , it should be Extra Virgin Olive Oil (First cold press). The other ones dont work so good.
I apply a tablespoon of olive oil all over the scalp and hair and leave it at night and shampoo the next morning with mild shampoo. (The shampoo should not be harsh or which causes hair falls).
Right after the first application, my hair loss the next day reduced and after a few days application it has reduced significantly.
Now I hope i get back all my hair...And hope this information helps those who are desperately in need of the same.
01/04/2011: Storage-girl from St. Louis, Mo: "Have had hair loss (including eye lashes and eyebrows) for 2 years. This hair loss started after I started doing cleanses and eating healthier. CRAZINESS! Anyway, I have tried numerous things to stop the hairloss to no avail. Hair was still growing, but falling out.
Flash forward to two weeks ago - I found a site where someone was talking about Omega-3 causing hair loss. I started the Omega-3 about two years ago. So, I stopped the Omega-3 that day. Now, my hair/eyelash/eyebrow hair all seems to be shedding a lot less. Anyone else experience something similar?"Replies
01/06/2011: Tom from Regina, Sk replies: "S-G: I also looked over a half dozen forums, and the experiences were both for and against taking Omega-3's as a cause of hair loss, in both men and women. However, two things I noticed:
The claim was made by several people that when they just reduced their omega-3 intake from typically 3 1000 mg capsules or more per day to just one, their hair loss stopped and reversed! The second thing is that the ones taking ALSO the omega-6 fatty acid GLA (gamma linolenic) were getting no fallout and hair regrowth. I'm not satying it can or will work for everyone, or not even for any specific person, but it's probably worth trying for a month or two. GLA is found highest percentage in borage oil, but also lesser % in evening primrose oil, hemp oil and black currant oil.
Why or how could this be so? It turns out there is an extremely important class of short-life messenger signal & switching molecules made throughout the body known collectively as prostanoids, which includes the prostaglandins, eicosanoids and thromboxanes. To be made in the cells, they need the omega fatty acids of all kinds. Most people who take oil supplements take the usual fish oils, high in DHA & EPA, which satisfies the RH side of the flow chain here, but take no GLA at all except a puny amount from the diet. Note the bottleneck or blockage down both LH and RH chains, where poor % conversion limits the amount. Taking DHA & EPA directly gets around the RH chain restriction problem; taking GLA gets around the LH chain restriction problem. So then the PG= prostaglandin molecule production is not limited. IOW, it could be poor cellular signaling that is corrected with the GLA."
12/07/2011: Douglas from Houston, Texas replies: "What did he just say?
Ok now, after that last comment... I feel like Marty as the Doc explains 1.21 Gigawatts, 1.21 whats????"
[YEA] 03/25/2008: Helene from Manila, Philippines: "Onion juice with calamansi juice stops my hairfall in just 2 weeks time.
I have been experiencing hair fall since I was 14 , now Im 36 years old and my hair is really thin. But small hair continue to grow but rate of hairfall is faster than growth. So I came accross in the internet use of onion juice. So I extract fresh red onion using osterizer, then add 1 piece of calamansi juice. (or 1/2 of lime). I apply this every night. using a small pipette, then massage my scalp daily. The 3X a week I apply olive oil with rosemary leaves overnight, after applying onion juice. i plan to do this for a year. My hair stops falling and small hair continue to grow which are also strong and thick."Replies

Pine Tar Soap
[YEA] 04/02/2008: CJ from northern, wisconsin: "Over ten years ago, I experienced clumps of hair suddenly falling out overnight. Stress, I suppose. I had 3 patches of total hairlessness ranging from the size of a quarter to a half dollar. I mean, no hair, at least I could comb over at the time. Also, thin spots that weren't totally bare. A month went by with no improvement and then my sister happened to mention to me about a couple other people she knew who had the same type of hair loss and who had used the kind of soap we Finlanders use in the sauna, ____ Pine Tar Soap, and their hair grew back. I lived near a soap shop at the time and immediately went and bought a bar and washed my hair with it right away. I washed my hair with it daily for over a month. Within the first week, the bald patches filled in with peach fuzz hair within 4 weeks, you could not tell where the bald patches had been. My hair has not fallen out since and I only wash my hair with it occasionally as "insurance." It's easy to use bar soap to wash hair but they also make it in a liquid shampoo. I don't know why it works but it's only couple bucks for the bar soap and worth a try."Replies
04/17/2009: Angie from South Pasadena, California replies: "Hi All. Neither one of my older sisters have had any problems with hair loss so I think my hair loss is due to some necessary medication I am taking. Anyway, the problem started once I started taking this medication. I tried the acv rinse and it didn't help. I also tried a lot of supplements but they made my acid reflux worse. Although I didn't expect much, I bought a bar of ___Pine Tar soap and used it to wash my hair. Ever since the first night, and it's been about a week and a half now, less hair has been falling out in the shower. The one exception is if I've been really stressed out in the twenty four hours since last washing my hair. The only two complaints is the very strong scent of the soap and that it leaves a residue on your hair since it is made with coconut oil. My hair doesn't look greasy but it looks like it has less volume. Just today I went a step further by installing a shower filter. Even less of my hair fell out tonight in the shower and I am really pleased. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the two people who recommended these two remedies. Sincerely, Angie"
[WARNING!] 12/04/2009: Angie from South Pasadena, California replies: "Dear All: I wrote a few months ago that pine tar soap helped less hair fall out in the shower. That was true for a long time. Unfortunately though, after a few months I believe it has caused the clinical sebborheic dermatitis I now suffer from. This has only exacerbated my hair loss much further. So, I would try organic fragrance free shampoo and conditioner for hair loss in shower instead. I've read that sulfates found in most commercial shampoos can worsen hair loss and scalp conditions. Good luck all, I'm going to be tested for iodine deficiency because of things I've read on this site. Angie"
[NAY] 01/25/2013: Good Light from Granola Munching Tree Hugger Ville, Oregon: "Hi everyone. Thanks for sharing your great information. My hair started falling extremely fast when I started a new physical training program 10 years ago. I thought the hair loss was due to the new exercise stress on my body, but it turned out to be the supplements I was taking. It contained Creatine which was supposed to help with muscle recovery. Once I stopped taking creatine, my hair stopped falling out. I read that Creatine increases testosterone in women which can cause hair loss. Since I haven't taken the supplement in 10 years, I think there has to be a different issue now. Now, my hair goes through severe cycles of loss and growth. I was on progesterone replacement for a while which increased my hair growth, once I was "level" and stopped the supplement, growth stopped. I do think taking creatine was the initial cause and perhaps whatever change in my body for the hairloss to continue. I am taking the ACV and baking soda for Barretts esophagus and GERD. I am hoping the hair growth will be a pleasant side effect. My best wishes for you all to find your cure. :)"
Red Raspberry Tea, Kelp
[YEA] 08/22/2009: Noelle from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Usa: "To Melinda re: Saw Palmetto for hair loss... forget Saw Palmetto. Saw Palmetto regnerates tissue. There's some conflicting information out there, but it does not appear to be safe for women to take, especially if you have fibroids or endometriosis, and most especially if you don't know it!
I went through nine years of hell with hair loss, which started at perimenopause. I would be out to dinner with a friend and hunks of hair would fall into my plate. I'd wash my hair and would fill up the toilet bowl with the hair that would come out. (And yes, I originally had a ton of hair, below the shoulder in length and very thick.) This wasn't just a general thinning, but patchy fallout and breakage. Every winter the hair would change texture, get hard as a rock and break off at the roots at the left side of the crown and at the nape of the neck. When I couldn't hide the damage, I wore wigs. I wore wigs for five out of those nine years. Doctors and herbalists couldn't find the cause. My thyroid checked out normal on blood tests; I did not have a fungal infection of the scalp. I tried everything I could think of: MSM worked for a little while, so did Black Walnut Hull tincture. I had some luck with Black Cohosh for a year, then it rebounded on me and I had to stop.
Finally, in 2006, a friend of mine sent me to a lecture on adrenal fatigue. I later had myself "spit" tested for levels of estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, thyroid hormones, cortisol and DHEA. Well, it turns out that at 5PM each day, I had no cortisol. Zip, nada. My adrenals were in trouble and there was no way they could take over and compensate for the lowered hormone output of menopause. The protocol for raising levels of cortisol is to take DHEA and Pregnenalone (sp?). Unfortunately, between slop bucket hot flashes, extreme fatigue and flipping out, I was too sensitive to take those "precursor" hormones.
Four months after this, I got very sick with Bronchitis and could not get rid of it for three months. A herbalist I was seeing for the Bronchitis decided that my problems were nutritional and prescribed a herbal mix that I was to take as nutrients and not as medicine. Well, my body didn't react too well to that, either, so I decided to buy the herbs in bulk and try them one by one to see which one was disagreeing with me. One of the herbs was RED RASPBERRY LEAF, WHICH ALONG WITH KELP, GAVE ME MY HAIR BACK!!!! It was noticeable within days. I started the tea in March; by early May my hair had filled in enough that I was able to cut my hair in a short style and ditch the wig. Red Raspberry is known as a female tonic and mild alterative that tones the uterus, stops hemorrhages and diarrhea, reduces fevers, cures mouth ulcers and stimulates hair growth. It's delicious, inexpensive and you don't need much of it.
Purchase Red Raspberry Leaf in bulk at any reputable herb store or coop. When buying Kelp in bulk, get the granulated kind that looks like pepper. The fine powder Kelp is too clumpy and doesn't mix or sprinkle well.
Put 1/2 teaspoon of Raspberry Leaf in infuser or strainer.
Pour boiling water in cup to cover. Steep for 10 minutes, or if you like, to lukewarm.
Drink a cup of this twice a day. When your hair is recovered, reduce to once a day.
Kelp: 1/4 teaspoon twice a day; once in AM, once in late afternoon. Just put it on the spoon and follow with a big glass of water, or sprinkle it on your food. Can cause sleeplessness if taken in evening. Can also take 1/2 teaspoon once a day. Adjust dosage depending on how it effects you.
Another thing that's helpful -- switch to an organic shampoo and conditioner. Especially conditioner! You'll notice a difference right away. My hair texture really changed; it became much more elastic! Some "organics" are really organic and some are not. If you email me, I'd be glad to tell you what I used. If you go to Organic Consumer website you should be able to find a link to a list of products that are NOT AUTHENTIC or are contaminated with toxins, so you can screen any hair products you are interested in against the list.
I realize this is long, but I thought the story needed to be told. It wasn't until last year on an annual physical that it was discovered that I had hundreds of tiny cysts on my thyroid, yet all my numbers were still normal. Red Raspberry might work for you. Good luck, Melinda."Replies

Coincidentally, i was just reading about red raspberry tea but was unsure if i could use it since i have both thyroid and adrenal issues. Can you let me know what you used to fix your adrenals? I really need help in this area. Thank you and God bless.
08/23/2009: Noelle from Minneapolis, Mn, Usa replies: "Lorraine: There should not be any reason why you can't use Red Raspberry Leaf tea. I don't think it affects the thyroid per se. It just fixes some of the problems caused by hormone imbalance, and adds minerals and B vitamins that might be depleted due to glands not functioning properly. It's the kelp that affects the thyroid and stops hair fallout cold. Raspberry Leaf grows the hair and makes it shiny.
As for my adrenal problem, it's not entirely fixed. Underlying infections can pull adrenal function down. I had a huge double abscess tooth removed last year, but I was disappointed that my energy did not increase. I seem to be carrying a virus that we cannot identify and have allergies that occasionally fog my head so much I walk into walls. (Claritin-D cuts that one right quick!) I was tested by a hematologist for everything they could think of. Allopathically, my bloodwork was normal. I ran the results by a naturopath: two indicators pointed to either parasites or low iron or both. Nobody seems to want to believe I have parasites! I'm currently using Bill Munro's H2O2 inhalation method. Its been two weeks; my energy is a little better, but I'm not seeing spectacular results yet. So . . . I'm still working on it!"

My hair loss has practically gone after taking the remedies for a week. My hair is glossy and no longer continues to fall out. I owe you a huge 'THANK YOU'."
12/24/2012: Citygirl27 from Richardson, Tx, Usa replies: "K. from Maidenhead, did you notice any androgenic side effects from taking Saw Palmetto? like increased facial hair, sweating, or anything of the sort? or any other side effects? Saw palmetto is normally recommended for men, that is why I was curious."
03/30/2013: Roberta from Charlotte Nc, Usa replies: "Thank You to Noelle from Minneapolis for the advice on Red Raspberry Tea and Kelp. Just started them last week and wanted to know how long to use them. Also menopausal, and adrenals. So far the Red Raspberry seems to calm them down, more so than anything that I have tried. How is your hair growth coming along?"
03/31/2013: Noelle from Minneapolis, Mn replies: "Hi Roberta -- sorry I haven't been on the site in a while. Use the Raspberry Leaf Tea as long as you feel you need it. It's pretty safe. Really tones the female organs. Be more careful with the Kelp. If you find yourself feeling a little wired or having trouble getting to sleep, try reducing the dose or taking it only in the morning. 1/4 - 1/2 tsp of Kelp in the morning and evening will usually stop hair fallout cold.
There are a couple of types of hair vitamins that really contribute to softness and texture, although I can't name brands on Earth Clinic. (I can tell you to check out the reviews on Swanson Vitamins and iHerb. ) Also, if you're looking to thicken the hair Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5) really works and fast, but you have to take at least 500mg per day. B5 is also indicated for energy production in the adrenals.
As for me, hair growth is fine, but I've been experiencing a different set of hair problems since starting constitutional homeopathic treatment in late 2010. I've been on Naja (cobra venom) for 1-1/2 years now and there were problems with dosages in 2011 & 1st half of 2012. Homeopathy tends to push things out through the skin and hair, and I had an extreme reaction with both. (Hair formed huge knots, totally uncombable; I had to cut it off! I won't tell you what was going on with my skin and where. Wanted to murder my homeopath; got a second and third opinion instead. ) Things are much better now. When I comb my hair, I have no shedding whatsoever. All that's left of the damage are a couple of alopecia spots and a receding hairline in the front, which I am working on. I had to stop relaxing and coloring my hair -- it grew back in in big patches of black and white and looks really cool! People are always asking me, "how did you get your hair like that?"
Anyway, for growth I recommend:
1) Nettles, both drinking the tea and rubbing on the scalp. Make a strong infusion of Nettle Leaf; it'll keep in the fridge for about 48 hours. Longer than that, it's ineffective.
2) Get a big aloe leaf, rub some of the gel on the scalp. It seems to stimulate the hair follicles.
3) And, of course, Red Raspberry Leaf.
