ACHES AND PAINS

1 YEA

[YEA]  01/19/2008: Susan from Brisbane, Australia writes: "I have been taking epsom salts all year every morning a few spinkles in my 500m water bottle (room temp water) and my aches and pains have all but disappeared. I remember my grandmother always put epsom salts in her tea each morning just a few sprinkles and she said so she did not get arthritus. Well I have to say I think it works but what I want to know is too much bad for you internally anyone know thanks"

ACHES, PAINS, MENSTRUAL AND MUSCLE CRAMPS

1 YEA

[YEA]  05/25/2008 from Nowhereville, PA writes: "If you have menstrual cramps, charley horses, eye twitches or any other kind of muscle cramps or just general aches and pains, try epsom salts baths. Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) is an excellent source of magnesium, much more bio-available and less expensive than supplements. You can soak in it in the tub, or make a spray from 4oz by weight of epsom salts dissolved in 32 fluid oz of distilled water. Put the epsom salt/water mix in a spray bottle and spray it on after your shower (rub it in like lotion all over). This is a home made version of "magnesium oil" (magnesium chloride), only made with epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) instead. Magnesium from epsom salts is very well absorbed throught the skin and doesn't loosen the bowels like oral magnesium supplements do. If you want to use magnesium chloride to make homemade "magnesium oil", get some unscented magnesium chloride bath salts and proceed as for "magnesium oil" made from epsom salts. Since I started using epsom salts, my skin is no longer dry...due, I think, to the sulfer content of epsom salts. If you feel up-tight, tense, anxious, nervous, crampy, etc., take an epsom salt soak. Exercise, and stress of all kinds, depleats magnesium, which is why an epsom salt soak after a work out or a stressful day is so good for you."

ACNE

1 YEA

[YEA]  10/22/2008: Amanda Rene from Anderson, CA writes: "Prepare a bath as directed on the epsom salt container. Do not use ANY soap, bubble bath, etc in this bath. Soak in it for a couple minutes. Then, using a washcloth, scrub the skin for a minute or so. Soak the area in the bath for 20 minutes. Towel dry. Do this daily or every other day.

I found this out accidentally and I was pleasantly surprised to see it had an effect on my rear-end acne. I've been trying to get rid of it for 2 months! Soap and exfoliators seemed to make matters so much worse. After the first two soaks, the skin appeared softer and no longer red and inflamed. The cyst like formations were going away! I've been doing this for a week now and my skin looks and feels so much nicer now. I still have a few bumps but I bet they will be gone in another week. I hope this works as well for others as it did for me!"

ARTHRITIS

1 YEA

[YEA]  04/26/2007: Elle from Concord, New Hampshire writes: "I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at 11. At 18 (and it a lot of pain) I was given a book on curing arthritis naturally and set about doing it. One of the main proponents of the book was Apple Cider Vinegar. I took a cocktail of 2 teaspoons ACV, 1 teaspoon honey and 8 oz hot water twice a day. Within 2 or 3 weeks the flareups had ceased. It should be noted I also cut back on red meat and citric acids (they are everywhere!) which I discovered were a major trigger for me. And I took epsom salt baths twice a week. When I went back to my dr and had blood tests done my RA factor was down to a 2. (I have no idea what it was before but I am pretty sure 2 is almost nothing!) That was 25 years ago. I still have RA technically but I rarely have a problem with it. The first inkling I get that its sneaking back up on me I go back to the ACV. I still avoid my trigger food which have come to include, believe it or not, green beans. I believe trigger foods are different for everyone - only you can figure out what they are. I have not been on meds or seen a rhumatologist (sp?) in all that time. Thank god for ACV. Only for it I would be a cripple now instead of living the very full life that I do. I have to say that it makes me so mad that there is a very simple cure for RA and the medical world is not out there shouting about it. So many people suffer needlessly with this disease. If you have RA you owe it to yourself to go out there and find out what works for you. Find your triggers, try ACV, read all you can on natural cures. There is no magic pill - but there is a way and its all in your own hands. Goodluck and Good Health. Elle"

08/10/2009: Connie from Manitowoc, Wisconsin replies: "Do you still take the ACV, or do you just avoid certain trigger foods?"

COLD SORES

1 YEA

[YEA]  08/18/2009: Jean from Franklin, Wi writes: "No idea where I ever got the idea to try this, but it has worked every time for me. When I get a cold sore, I put a crystal of epsom salt on it. It stings for a bit, but within a short period of time the pain is down, a few hours I know its already on the mend, and the next day its usually about 1/2 to 2/3 cleared up. It only needs to be done once."

ECZEMA

2 YEA

[YEA]  07/15/2009: Esther from Tacoma , Washington writes: "My son just arrived last week from San Diego with my 3 yrs old grandson who is in a terrible state with eczema. They are spending a fortune on Dr. and Ointments. I took my little grandson and put him into Epsom Salts baths for the past four days and the bleeding has stopped he is not scratching and it is drying out. I remembered that people came from all over the world to Israel for the salts baths at the dead sea so I applied what I learned from living in Israel and it is working. At first it hurt him but after a minute he was fine with the salt water. Try it. Esther Golden Pavek."

07/18/2009: Max from Kent, UK replies: "Esther, what a wise piece of advice for your grandchild's Eczema. Can you tell me what measure of Epsom Salts you used please?"

08/10/2009: Connie from Manitowoc, Wisconsin replies: "I get eczema from milk and ice cream. It only occurs on my wrists and lower arms where they rest on the desk, or where my watch band is. Not on the topside of my lower arms at all. It started in grade school, and I thought maybe it is a reaction to the soap they cleaned the desks with. Maybe try avoiding milk and ice cream, too."

[YEA]  05/31/2008: WT from Spartanburg, SC writes: "I read somewhere that Epsom salt baths would cure eczema. My secretary has a friend who has a kid who suffers with it really bad, to the point he doesn't sleep well because of it. After I mentioned it to her, the friend tried it and she was floored with the results. It began clearing up very quickly and he has been sleeping very well lately. Another friend tried it with great results. People are simply amazed at the results."

GALLBLADDER STONES

4 NAY
1 BETTER BUT NOT CURED

[NAY]  09/17/2006: Dan from Largo, FL writes: "I've done about 20 liver & gallbladder flushes over the last 23 years. I agree about the confusion on "soap stones", which of course are not gall stones. I've never agreed to such claims, as there are just too many that come out even if you do liver flushes a week apart. If that's all that is expelled, there's a good chance that there are missing steps that look "optional", but actually are vital to the procedure. I say "vital" because the lack of these steps could actually prove dangerous. I learned how to do a liver flush from my brother who cave me a copy of the procedure developed by Dr.Kelley.

The big difference is he uses apple juice with Phosfood drops for several days to a week before the flush. The malic acid in the apple juice and the phosphoric acid in the Phosfood drops act to soften the stones. If the stones aren't softened, they may not pass, and you've just wasted a lot of your time and half a cup of perfectly good olive oil. etc.

Also, if the stones aren't softened, they may get stuck, and I'd guess if you check around you'll find cases where people had to get emergency medical treatment because of a flush gone bad. Another missing step that I've seen is the Epsom salts. I've seen procedures where this step was called "optional". I beg to differ. The Epsom salts is a necessary part of the procedure. The magnesium sulfate serves three purposes.

First, it causes an evacuation of your gut by relacing all of the sphincter muscles. This is important, because if your intestines are full of food, the oil won't have as big a reaction. What we're trying to accomplish here is a huge spasm of the gall bladder to as completely evacuate it as possible. That's why we take so much oil. But this does no good if the intestines are still of food, as the sensing of oil in the duodenum is what causes the gall bladder to contract. (I've also assisted the contractions with gall bladder massage, but that's another story.)

Secondly, the Epsom salts magnesium causes the bile ducts to relax and dilate. This allows any larger stones (if present) to pass without getting stuck. And once again, we don't want half measures on this, as you look kind of silly when you have to call 911.

So, these two steps are vital. You might as well not do a flush if you're going to skip these two steps. Yes, the Epsom salts tastes bitter. No, that's not a good reason not to take it. Thirdly, the magnesium helps to relax you so you can actually sleep with an otherwise uncomfortable feeling in the abdomen. So, these two steps (apple juice phosfood and Epsom salts) are not optional. They are important to the procedure and may help debug any lack of success that one may have had when omitting them."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  09/12/2006: Alexa from Phoenix, AZ writes: "RE Dr. Hulda Clark's gallbladder/liver flush: While many would like to say that the gallstones obtained from a gallbladder flush are simply the products of the flush ingredients, that does not explain a few things I have experienced in performing the flush.

While fresh, more recently formed gallstones are the pea-green characteristic of new bile and might be supposed to be related to the olive oil used in the flush, there are several types of stones obtained in a flush. Tan, granular stones are also observed, as are dark-colored "pigmented" stones (pigmented by bilirubin) as well as yellow, fatty chaff.

Further, the olive-oil-stone theory does not in any way explain the presence of bile-duct flukes unseated by the cleanse. These were identified as Opisthorchis sinensis -- apparently my sushi-eating years left some souvenirs behind.

You can "explain away" stones all you want, but it's pretty hard to make olive oil into flukes complete with visible proboscis."

[NAY]  09/09/2006: David from Tampa, FL writes: "MR SARDI IS WAY OFF BASE. I FIRST HAD AN ULTRASOUND THAT SHOWED MY GALL BLADDER WAS SO FULL OF STONES THAT THE SMALL ONES HID THE LARGER ONES FROM VIEW. I THEN DID THE OLIVE OIL GRAPEFRUIT JUICE EPSOM SALT FLUSH. I PASSED SO MANY GREEN STONES IT WAS UNABLE TO COUNT. YOU KNOW, THE ONES SARDI CLAIMS ARE NOT STONES. WELL, I THEN HAD A SECOND ULTRA SOUND. ALL THE SMALLER STONES WERE GONE EXPOSING LARGER STONES. I SAVED THE STONES FOR THE DOCTOR. HE SAID THEY WERE A FORM OF STONES AND THEY DID NOT MELT. I DID A SECOND FLUSH AND PASSED SOME WHITE HARDER STONES. ON A THIRD FLUSH, I PASSED A HARD WHITE STONE THE SIZE OF A SMALL WALNUT AMONG OTHERS. I WILL SAY THAT I DO USE SARDI'S PRODUCTS EVEN THOUGH HE IS MISINFORMING THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE FLUSH. I AM LIVING PROOF. PLEASE NOTE, IF YOUR LIFESTYLE AND EATING HABITS DON'T CHANGE,YOU WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE STONES."

[NAY]  04/16/2006: Melva from Red Lake, ON writes: "I tried the gallstone cleanse and couldn't believe the amount of "stones" and "gravel" I passed. I showed the stones to my doctor and he agreed that they were indeed gallstones. Then he suggested that another ultrasound be done and whoops! All the original stones were still sloshing around in there. So we sent some "stones" to a lab and the report came back - "These are NOT gallstones". So I have concluded that the ingredients of the cleanse form the stones, with the oil stimulating the gallbladder enough to add bile for the greenish coloring."

[NAY]  02/01/2006: Mel from Philippines writes: "According the the research of bill sardi, (www.knowledgeofhealth.com), stones removed after lemon-olive liver flush, are 'soap stones". it is the result of the chemical reaction in the digestive system with the olive oil, lemon and epsom salts. i proved it myself after performing the liver flush procedure. in the ct scan result after the procedure, tiny stones still remain in my gallbladder. the allegedly flush stones, which i kept in a sealed container, melts after 3 days. I now conclude that the procedure touted to remove gallstones only temporarily eliminated the symptoms attack. it will not cure the the problem. For me, the best cure is to dissolve the stones naturally and change your diet that may cause gallstone to form again."

GENITAL HERPES

1 YEA

[YEA]  12/05/2008: Donna from Ogallala, USA writes: "I have suffered with GH for close to 30yrs. One of the things that has helped stop an outbreak is to soak in a hot bath with epsom salts or other mineral salts. When I feel an outbreak coming I soak in the saltbath and the blisters either do not come out or go directly into the scab phase leaving out the painful part in the middle. I will try cutting out the sugar in my diet."

MAGNESIUM SOURCE

1 YEA

[YEA]  12/12/2007: Rhonda from Tallahassee, FL writes: "Epsom salt may be more appropriate for soaking, as the magnesium diffuses into the bloodstream more slowly, however heed to the warning labels on the bag. If you use Epsom internally as a supplement for magnesium you want to avoid giving yourself a potassium deficiency, and that goes with any magnesium supplement, but is especially important for those on a diet low in potassium, or have low blood potassium levels. Diarrhea is a sign you have taking too much, unless you're intentionally trying to use it as a laxative. I would include grapefruit and oranges in my diet especially if using Epsom, and would not use Epsom internally long periods; have a blood test done, or watch out for signs of potassium deficiency if you're a chronic Epsom user. I read that magnesium taurate was once said to be the best form of magnesium, citrate being next, especially for those with mineral imbalances and prone to heartbeat irregularities."

PREVENT CEREBRAL PALSY IN BABIES

1 YEA

[YEA]  01/31/2008: Tom from Waltham, MA writes: "I saw an article online today about how Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) was used to prevent Cerebral Palsy in babies. Epsom salt can prevent cerebral palsy: U.S. study

Jan 31, 2008

By Maggie Fox, Health and Science Editor

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Giving a woman an infusion of Epsom salts when she goes into premature labor can help protect her baby from cerebral palsy, U.S. researchers reported on Thursday.

Magnesium sulfate, popularly known as Epsom salts, cut the rate of cerebral palsy in half, Dr. John Thorp, a professor of obstetrics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and colleagues reported.

"We have a cheap, widely available treatment already in hand that cuts in half the risk of babies being born with an extremely disabling disorder," Thorp said in a statement.

"And virtually every delivery room in the United States is already stocked with magnesium sulfate solutions that are given to pregnant women during childbirth for other reasons."

Dr. Alan Fleischman, medical director of the birth defect charity March of Dimes, was more cautious. "I think it is an important study," he said in a telephone interview.

But he noted that more study was needed to understand how the treatment works, and said the children were not protected from more subtle brain damage that affected intellectual and cognitive function.

Thorp's team presented their findings to a meeting of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine in Dallas.

They gave either magnesium sulfate or a placebo to 2,241 women going into early labor or with ruptured membranes. The women's pregnancies were at between 24 to 31 weeks -- a full-term pregnancy goes 40 weeks.

RACING HEART

1 YEA

[YEA]  07/03/2007: Rick from New Bloomfield, PA writes: "No particular ailment, but I have been interested in Magnesium supplementation ever since I had a couple of "racing heart" episodes several years back, and discovered that I could calm things down by taking Epsom Salts (Magnesium Sulfate) in water... awful taste and also a powerful laxative. I began to wonder how I could get the same effect in a more palatable way, without the laxative effect. Eventually I found the"Magnesium" webpage and learned the following:

How to make your own Magnesium water [like the 'Noah' water being sold by a certain company, which bottles water from a spring that is naturally rich in bicarbonates of Magnesium].

The assumption is that we could all use more magnesium in our diet, which may help reduce blood pressure, reduce the likelihood of kidney stones, etc.

Here's how to make your own Mg-rich drinking water:

Buy a bottle of Carbonated Seltzer water - NO SODIUM, just carbonated "fizz" water, unflavored. Refrigerate for a couple of hours.

Get another, larger bottle, and pour 2/3 of a capful of PLAIN (no-flavor) Philips Milk of Magnesia (which is Magnesium Oxide, an alkaline laxative) into the large bottle. (The bottle comes with a plastic measuring cup which is what I mean when I say 2/3 capful.)

Now quickly open the bottle of carbonated water (water carbonic acid) and empty it into the large bottle containing the 2/3 capful of Magnesia.

Shake well.

You will have a bottle of milky/cloudy liquid which is in the process of neutralization between the carbonic acid and the magnesium oxide-- leaving a neutral salt, Magnesium Bicarbonate.

Let the cloudy mixture sit for a while at room temperature, until the liquid clears; there will be some white precipitate at the bottom. Shake again and let sit again. When clear, refrigerate. THIS IS YOUR MAGNESIUM BICARBONATE CONCENTRATE. Unlike the chalky taste of straight Milk of Magnesia, or the biting-fizzy taste of seltzer water, your concentrate will have a strong, sweet, slightly "soapy" taste. You will be DILUTING it in water for drinking purposes.

When it has chilled, pour a small amount into an empty 1 liter bottle (approx. 1/2" of concentrate at the bottom) and fill the rest of the bottle with pure drinking water.

You have now created a sweet-tasting, Magnesium-enriched drinking water, and you're also getting your Bi-carbs without all the Sodium you'd be getting from Baking Soda.

I have been making and drinking this Mg water since Nov. 2006 (I write this in July of 2007) and have not had any bad effects from it. I take a bottle to work and sip it during the day. My resting heart rate seems to have gone down and I feel more relaxed in general. I can't say it has greatly improved my high blood pressure, but it has helped some, and I know I am getting enough Magnesium. Probably would be beneficial to supplement with Calcium for balance.

Try it and see what it does for you."

12/19/2008: Julie from Leslie Vale, Australia replies: "you can buy Epsom salts in a capsule from Colocaps balance made by colocaps pharmaceuticals"

RASH

1 YEA

[YEA]  09/20/2008: Colton from North Lauderdale, Florida writes: "i'm allergic to a plant down here and unknowingly got in contact with it. i broke out in a really nasty rash on my arm and neck. A trainer at my gym told me to use epsom salt. He said it'll dry it out and kill the bacteria in it. i did and my rash cleared up in a few days and gott noticably better after each treatment. Mind you i tried all kinds of creams and allergy pills that had no effect what so ever."

05/15/2009: Maggie from Conway, Arkansas replies: "Yes Hello, I suffer all the time from rashes all types of rashes. I dont know where they come from, or anything. I always have to go get a shot at the doctors office. I have used steroid creams all types of over the counter lotions, but still no relief. Now im willing to try an alternitve. Epsom salt......who knew? I will be posting again to let you know how it turns out. Thank you so much!!!"

05/16/2009: Dj from Pdx, Or replies: "For Maggie from Arkansas,

Try keeping a food journal. You may have an allergy to either the food or something in the food like a preservitive or a seasoning. Perhaps even something you drink, pop or even a build up from floride in your drinking water.

Too many possibilities but it is a place to start.

I recently used MSM on my face to reduce some scaring I have. It took me 5 days and a lot of sneezing and sinus pain to figure out that I was allergic to the MSM and not the B complex I started to take at the same time.

Good Luck."

SCIATICA

2 YEA

[YEA]  06/04/2009: Aldo from Brisbane, Australia writes: "Epsom Salts Worked for Sciatica!

My mother came down with sciatica last week. Immediately she went to see my brother, who is a chiropractor. That helped her a lot but the pain and discomfort was still there for her. Since then she was resting her leg as often as she could and taking pain killers when needing to walk on it for any extended period of time. When I heard about it, I had a look on this site and noticed the epsom salts testimonials. I suggested that she try having an epsom salt bath and to drink a couple of teaspoons of it with a glass of water also.

Well, I called her this morning and my mother was so excited! She said that she had a bath for about 30 minutes (and read a magazine!) with 2 cups of epsom salts on Wednesday night before going to bed. She also drank a glass of water with 2 teaspoons of epsom salts with some honey to improve the taste. She said that she slept so peacefully that night and woke up in the morning with NO PAIN! She was over the moon!

On Thursday, she drank a couple more glasses of water, epsom salts and honey and she plans to have another bath tonight (Friday). There has been no sciatica pain since waking up Thursday morning.

Thank you to Jean and Gwen for posting your results, the good news has now spread to our family too and we are passing it on to others. God Bless."

When this happens I pull out the "big guns", Epsom salts. 2-4 teaspoons dissolved in water. Small amount of water followed by as much water as possible after wards. I'll use a straw to drink solution. Put straw to back of tongue beyond taste buds & suck. Taste terrible, but when I am in that much pain I'll do anything to relieve it! You can also add lemon or lime juice to lessen the taste. Pain starts to diminish after first trip to the pot. Works every time & I'm over it in less than 24 hour. Good luck & God/Goddess Bless!"

SEIZURE CONTROL

[YEA]  11/15/2007: Maureen Roy from Maine, U.S.A writes: "I had to post something here because a couple of months ago I saw a post from someone who said, "Anyone who has seizures, something that has worked well to control or rid people's seizures is epsom salt." ....their words were something to that effect. Well, that got me intrigued and excited. I had been looking for ways to get off my meds for years. I have been reading books and looking...everywhere on the net for...something! And that post got me started. Well, I now have a blog about my story - I have been off my meds for more than a month and it has now been almost a month since I have had a seizure. That is just amazing and has been unheard of for me for the past 18 years! Now, I am not a doctor and I am not saying this is what EVERYONE should do. We are all different. But, this MAY help people who have been looking for answers, help, guidance on what could work for them in the right direction. When you click here, start reading from the bottom up. [YEA]  10/14/2007: Violet from Torrevieja, Spain writes: "Epsom Salts is a cure for Epilepsy. I have recommended it to various people and given a talk about it in a local clinic in London...it works!! Even for grand mal fits and for young and old alike. Half a teaspoonful in orange juice each morning, and the fits will stop. I approached the Epilepsy Society about this, but they don't want to know!!! My granddaughter has started taking it, when all else failed and she hasn't had fits since."

10/25/2008: Catherine from Wellington, New Zealand replies: "My journey into nutrition started in the 70's with Adelle Davis' books. She recommended magnesium (epsom salts) for Epilepsy. I have told this to various people over the years and offered them the books to read, amazingly they didn't want to do the research, preferring the allopathic methods of treatment. Ms Davis was also a strong proponent of folic acid to prevent spina biffida! This has only recently been taken seriously..but her evidence could have saved much untold misery for unfortunate families during these intervening years.

In one of her books Ms Davis referred to another nutritionist from the 40's who opined that unless magnesium levels in the diet were improved, within a generation we would't be able to tell from the backview the difference between boys and girls!!! Well girls used to have waists (18" to 22") and boys always had physiques, maybe lack of magnesium affects the hormones somehow."

[YEA]  01/05/2009: Dianna from Austin, TX replies: "i have had gran mal seizures since i was in my teens. the doctors could never find anything wrong and i took dilantin for years. somehow along the way i also found that if i took cal-mag (calcium magnesium liquid) it helped. well it took me years to realize that soaking in epsom salts help too. recently i have started having seizures again and realized that i had not been taking my epsom salt baths for a while. i even rub the salts on my body to exfoliate... so i started taking a little bit orally mixed with VCO too - just to get it back in my system. it really makes me mad that doctors do not tell people about this. they have to know that epsom salts have magnesium in them... a doctor had told me about cal-mag in the first place... but no one ever mentioned epsom salts. i guess they are too cheap!

btw - soaking in epsom salt baths also helps bi-polar people feel better.
djh"

01/05/2009: dianna from austin, tx replies: "in response to catherine from wellington, new zealand - there must definitely be something to the magnesium thing and not having a 'butt'.

i have long been deficient in this and virtually have no butt - so what you said really makes sense to me - i look like a guy from behind! and epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) keeps my seizures under control. funny i how never thought of this. i also noticed that lots of people with no diabetes and or on insulin have no butt too. everyone else in my family have butts and don't have diabetes or seizures.
hmmmmmm
djh/austin, tx"

01/05/2009: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "To Dianna & Viola,

Epsom salts' chemical name is magnesium sulfate and yes your doctor should know that because that is what they give pre-eclamptic and eclamptic mothers IV to keep them from seizing or stroking out with high blood pressure. But don't be too harsh on your poor doctor because the AMA is the strongest union in the country and they don't like any doctor recommending anything they don't have control over. They dislike it so much they will try to put him out of business or even revoke his license to practice medicine. The newer anti-siezure medications are basically magnesium in one form or another. I suspect this is mostly because magnesium competes with monosodium glutamate for sites in the brain and monosodium glutamate is known for causing seizures, among many other problems.

This is why I urge everyone to wise up and stop thinking you only get MSG when you eat Asian or stir-fried foods. To really get a good idea of how much MSG & aspartame you are poisoning yourself & your family with, google "excitotoxins" & write down the names they hide MSG under and go into your kitchen. That tomato ketchup that your kids love so much - have fun trying to find one that isn't loaded with MSG. Those tasty pizzas we all like so well - again have fun trying to find one without the sauce being loaded with it. If You tube hasn't taken it off already, they had an excellent l hour interview with Dr. Russell Blaylock who wrote the book
"Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills".

Don't forget to check the raw meats ingredients list also and don't be surprised when you find one of the bogus names for MSG on the labels."

01/06/2009: Sandy from In the sticks, Nevada replies: "I find that trying to avoid high fructose corn syrup is challenging, but avoiding MSG is almost impossible, because it can be hidden. Perhaps Earthclinic could start a page that lists products that are MSG free?"

EC: We do already have a page for MSG. It may be easier to list the ingredients that contain msg rather than finding the ones that don't!

[YEA]  01/10/2009: Fiona from Auckland, New Zealand replies: "In response to 01/05/2009: Joyce from Joelton

I had Pre-Eclampsia and suffer from seizures and my doctors just increased my medication and my son was badly affected by the huge amounts of medication they were giving me. I went from suffering no seizures to only nocturnal seizures and my son noticed that when I have a Epsom Salt bath before sleeping if I have a seizure they aren't too severe. But because I have breathing problems I can't have too many of those baths."

01/11/2009: Dianna from Austin, Tx replies: "well for me i found out that when i take espom salts orally it really makes my blood sugar high... and i still got twitches - but no actually seizures - BUT when i soak in epsom salts it works MUCH better - and doesn't raise my blood sugar - go figure...

08/11/2009: Connie from Manitowoc, Wisconsin replies: "There is a grocery store in town that sells ground beef containing that mystery "flavor"... That's just creepy. Why are they suddenly adding "flavor" to the ground beef? Ground beef is ground beef. When you buy ground beef that's what you expect to get. JUST GROUND BEEF. You buy it because you want to flavor it YOURSELF. Who asked them, "This ground beef isn't flavory enough, would you mind flavoring it for me?" Who expects to find that in their meat??!!!! Is the meat so terrible that they actually had to add more cow flavor? Are we some day going to be buying lamb flavored pork chops?

For your creeped out viewing displeasure, Google "Umami the World"....... There on the left under the "What is UMAMI?" link you will find that "UMAMI is a pleasant savoury taste imparted by glutamate, a type of amino acid, and ribonucleotides, including inosinate and guanylate...." Please, folks... please do not umami the world......"

SORE AND ACHING MUSCLES

2 YEA

[YEA]  10/15/2007: Terri from Richmond, VA writes: "Recently my husband & I moved. Both of us are in our 50's. We were both taken by surprise at our aching muscles from the move as we are fairly active people. We didn't wish to take anything over the counter for our pain. Our Chiropractor recommended getting Epsom Salts (magnesium) to place into a tub of hot water to soak in. The directions were on the outside of the package. Place two cups into bath water and soak your body. I added a few drops of Pure Essential Oil, Lavendar to the bath as I needed a good nights rest. We slept like babies, totally pain free. We would recommend this highly to anyone able to get in and out of a tub. We repeated it nightly for several nights until the soreness had totally faded."

[YEA]  05/24/2008: Jennifer from San Antonio, TX replies: "I am a nursing student and just got back into my exercise routines and am very sore fairly often. I take an epsom salt bath and instantly I feel so much better. It is amazing. I recommend taking an epsom salt bath any time you do strenuous activity."

05/26/2008: James from Los Angeles, USA replies: "For decades my wife has taken 5 or 6 400iu Vitamin E tablets before doing unaccustomed exercise, moving, extra gardening, etc. with no stiffness or aches after. If she forgets to take them she has all the normal problems that follow these actions. She then has to take two to three times the dosage several time to get rid of the aches. For some reason I am one of the lucky ones and rarely have any aches following an unaccustomed exercise but the vitamin E works well for her."

SORE THROAT

1 YEA

[YEA]  06/24/2007: Lena from Seattle, Washington writes: "Epsom salt foot baths really work for sore throats. Soak your feet in a tub of water with about a cup of epsom salts, hot as you can stand for about 20 mins. Then dry your feet and put on two pairs of socks, woollen socks if you have them over a pair of thin cotton socks and go to bed. Each time I've done this my sore throat is gone by morning. Persistent sore throats can return though, so it's good to do the cayenne pepper gargle/ACV cayenne tea during the day if it comes back, and the epsom salt footbath at night before bed."

TOENAIL FUNGUS

1 YEA

[YEA]  07/29/2007: Ellen from Redwood Shores, CA writes: "For my toenail fungus, I've noticed with various soaking type remedies that the infection actually spreads--too much moisture for me. I was a little skeptical of the epsom salts in very hot water, but nonetheless I purchased the epsom salts and microwaved a couple of cups of water in a bowl. Stirred in the salts and then began dipping my feet in the water. It's too hot for me to leave in for more than a second or two, but it quickly cools down and the feet do get used to the hot water. I just keep dipping a second or two at a time. Normally, when I do use a remedy, I do both my big toenails. But this time, due to my problem with too much moisture, I decided to only treat my toenail with the most stubborn long standing fungus as I didn't want to make my "good" toenail worse. So then a month goes by and I notice that my "bad" toenail is half "pinkish" and I start to wonder why my toenail with the long standing stubborn infection is looking better than the other. Then the lightbulb comes on in my head. I did treat it differently. Then about a week ago, once I realized that it must have been the epsom salts and the very hot water, I did it again, on both feet. Then the next day, I didn't feel very good and I realized that I was probably experiencing the die-off effect, with the fungus releasing their toxins as they're dying. I still am doing multiple (6 or so) remedies, concurrently. In addition, I stopped drinking alcohol and having any sugar--cakes, donuts, candy bars, ice cream, etc. I still do have pasta, potatoes and bread. Since I just did the other toenail only one week ago, I'll still have to wait to see the effects. But I am extremely gratified to see the worse toenail now is half pink with the outer half being brown with white marbling growing out."
