[WORKED TEMPORARILY] 03/20/2009: Tina from Rochester, NY USA writes: "Tomato Tea for congestion. After reading about Tomato Tea on this website, I decided to try it to relieve my stuffy head. I used organic tomato juice, fresh lemon juice and as much hot sauce as I could tolerate. It did the job. It provided temporary relief from head congestion and made me feel better."
03/20/2009: Dianne from Orillia, Ontario Canada replies: "You will be amazed and cleared of nasal congestion (helps lungs too)if you sniff Oil Of Oregano; get a real good quality because this product will evaporate keep lid on tight. When I sniff, I tip lid/dropper to the side while in the jar and hold opposite nostril closed, take a big sniff. Then change to other nostril Works great."

[BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS] 03/10/2009: Nancy from Binghamton, New York, USA writes: "Tomato Tea Caution (Gallstones): I tried the tomato tea, using the exact recipe as posted by Jean. It tasted better than I expected, and it is working pretty well on my sinuses. I drank one serving 2 days ago, and have been getting rid of mucous steadily since then. However, I also have (pretty sure, US test coming in 3 days) gallstones. I believe the tomato tea triggered a nasty gallstone attack, since about an hour after I drank it, the pain started, and the burning when I vomited was horrible, throat felt like it was on fire. Could that have happened from the ingredients in the tea? I hope not, because I would love to drink it again for the sinus congestion, it is working for me even better than sea salt flush or ACV! Any advice would be appreciated. I have not posted before, but I have been recently diagnosed with some health issues, and I always come here first. I don't want drugs or surgery, and most important health issue is, I am obese, and trying my best to solve that first. I LOVE EC!"
03/11/2009: Nicole from Geneva, Switzerland replies: "Nancy Hi. with regards to gallstone problems my grandmother cured her problem (instead of going to surgery to take the stones out) by dinking lots of parsley tea. Just take two bunches of fresh parsley and boil then drink as a tea during the whole day. I prefer to put some lemon just for the taste. DRINK LOTS OF LIQUIDS....! For people with gallstone problems you should drink a MINIMUM of 2 litres of water and teas. Hope this helps."
09/27/2009: Jeannie from Franklin, Wi replies: "Every once in a while I come in here to read the feedback as it feels really good to know I've helped people. As I've read through them, I've noticed a few things that seem to be related to the tomato drink not working:
1. Polyps: Of course, if you have a physical blockage, that needs to be removed.
2. OTC & prescribed drugs: MANY people state that these help temporarily and then the problem gets even worse... that's a given. If you take them at the same time you're doing the tea, perhaps you're counter-acting what the tea is doing. Quit the drugs.
3. Sinus problems often seem to be related to eating sugars, ice cream, cookies, whatever.
4. Not everyone will react in the same way. GIVE IT TIME if it doesn't work right away. Most people have very quick relief, others it takes days.
5. It WILL kill the virus/germ... you don't need antibiotics. I know this from personal experience, and many people have said the same. This worked where antibiotics did not."
09/28/2009: Bee from Mo, Usa replies: "I have to say from my experience I found that the OTC drugs did make it worse. I felt better in the short-term, but it took longer to get over the cold. Anything that seems to block the discharge of congestion (pseudoephedrine, etc) when I took that it lasted longer. I am sticking with natural supplements and tomato tea and letting it CLEAR out the mucous/infection and it helps a lot when you stick it out!! Be patient and you will feel better! :)"

1 Can Cambell's Tomato Soup (Follow instructions on the baxk of can)
1 Clove Garlic-chopped
1-2 Tsp Tabasco (more or less; it tends to be less spicy than other hot sauces)
1-2 Tsp Lemon juice (I eye-balled it)
For Taste Garlic Salt (You could use any other flavored salt, but I find this one works better)"

This stuff opened my right up and I was able to sleep...took a couple rounds but started feeling better then next day. I didn't have any cayenne or tobasco handy so I used some Southwest Seasoning mix in the pantry (it had Cayenne and dried chili peppers in it)"

[YEA] 01/04/2009: Carol from Delray Beach, FL writes: "Tomato Tea is Fantastic!!!
I was desparate with a cold to find a cure. I decided to try the Tomato Tea (although I prefer to call it Tomato Soup). I took one cup in the morning and one cup at night and within three days the cold was gone. I went to visit my daughter in Okeechobee. She works in the radiology department of a local hospital. She had a terrible cold and was treating it with otc drugs, to no avail. I made up a 'tea' for her in the evening when she got home. We couldn't find the hot sauce so we used cayenne pepper (as much as she could stand). She took the tea before bed for two nights - and was cold-free by the time she awoke on the third day. This is fantastic! Thank you so much! By the way, my daughter told everyone at the hospital about this remedy."

[YEA] 12/18/2008: Heather from Albuquerque, NM writes: "Thank you so much for the tomato tea recipe. I had severe congestion, fever, chills. and aches. I sent my husband out to get all the ingredients and then he made it for me. I was very skeptical because I felt so crappy, but it worked. After i drank two cups, one passage cleared and stayed clear all night, although I had another cup around 2am. It is now 9am and am having another cup and feel so much better. Fever, chills, and muscle aches are gone too. I am a firm believer!!! Thank you!!"

[YEA] 11/27/2008: Lee from Knoxville, Tn writes: "Thank you for the Tomato Tea remedy....I had had sinus congestion and drainage for a week without any relief in sight and came across this website. I tried the tea and felt immediately better! I also added 2 Tablespoons honey, one-quarter teaspoon onion powder, one-half teaspoon of a combination of herbs: (rosemary, thyme, sage, marjoram, black pepper and nutmeg = poultry seasoning) to tomato juice - the V8 costs twice as much! - and my persistent sinus headache (which was making my upper jawbone throb)went away. Thanks again! This is an awesome and beneficial website."

[YEA] 11/24/2008: Maureen from Portland, ME writes: "I was having trouble breathing and had the WORST cold I have had in a long time. So, I checked out the website for your cold remedies and saw the "hot soup." I drank it 3 times in one day. I put in as much garlic and hot sauce as I could because I know how good that is for the body. Besides, I couldn't taste it. Well, it didn't clear up my passages all that well. That only lasted a few minutes. BUT! I went to bed, slept like a BABY and woke up and the cold was GONE! Another friend of mine has had a cold for 3 weeks and here, mine only lasted one day! I was amazed! Thank you so much!"

[WORKED TEMPORARILY] 11/23/2008: Ryan from Coventry, CT, USA writes: "I have horrible nasal congestion from when I go to bed until the next morning. The only thing that has worked effectively has been the nasal spray from the drug store, but I can't use that every day. 3 days on, 2 days off. I sound retarded with my nose like this. I tried the tomato tea as instructed and it worked for 10 minutes."
03/07/2009: Lori from Walden, NY replies: "to Ryan from CT you may consider using ACV for your stuffiness...it works wonders..."

[YEA] 10/28/2008: Debbie from Pt. Pleasant Beach, NJ writes: "Well i followed the recipe for Spicy Tomato Tea........it is almost midnight and I cannot breathe due to a sinus infection and/or cold...I have been taking a myriad of over the counter cold meds along with doing numerous sinus irrigations and nothing....I have not been this congested in a long time. I am exhausted from not sleeping. In my recipie I used V8 juice, lemon juice, garlic salt and a lot of hot sauce which I heated in a saucepan......It is sooooooooo hot; however I knew that the hotter the better.....I am slowly sipping it and inhaling the fumes too..already I can feel my sinuses drain although I think I used too much hot sauce b/c my mouth is also burning...Be ware if you do not like hot & spicy things this is not the cure for you...It worked for me....thanks "

[YEA] 10/24/2008: Karalyn from Lynwood, IL writes: "Well, I am drinking the tea now, surprisingly it is quite tasty. Prior to this drink, one could not pay me enough to drink tomato juice or try hot sauce. After about ten minutes I can feel my sinus passages in my cheecks warming up and I can breath out of both nostrills. I havent done that in years. Hopefully it will continue to work so I can go back to work. My sinus pressure was miserable up until now. I will write more later on further results.
I used a cup of tomato juice
2tsp hot sauce
1 clove fresh garlic
1 tsp lemon juice"

But I tried your tea first and it worked great. Actually tasted good too. Surprized me. Thanks again. Oh yeah, my sinuses were completely stopped up and had been for 4 days. We followed the recipe as closely as possible, the hot sauce was by taste."

I've been drinking it all morning, sinuses slightly better with each cup. I didn't have V8 or tomato juice, used fire roasted tomatoes and fresh. Yummy, too! Thank you so much!"

[YEA] 10/15/2008: BB from Louisville, KY writes: "For relief in about 10 minutes I would recommend this tea/soup to anyone suffering from sinus congestion or a sinus infection. I used 2 cups of V8, a few squeezes from a real lemon, 4 cloves of garlic (used a press which basically makes it half minced and half juice), and a various mixture of cayenne pepper, green (jalapeno) Tabasco sauce, and Blair's Death Sauce (mostly habanero peppers). I drank some at night and fell asleep able to breathe through both nostrils and woke up with no congestion. Had some more tea/soup at lunch today and although my condition hasn't worsened I'm having a bit more before bed. The inflammation is still present but it's only been 24 hours so I'll be patient and see if it continues to work or clear the infection without antibiotics. The only regiment I'm doing in addition to this is saline irrigation (Neti Pot) every few hours. The combination is keeping me from wanting to remove my head from my body. So far I'm pleased and will report back if it in fact "cures" my sinus infection!"

[SIDE EFFECTS] 09/14/2008: Lara from College Station, TX writes: "I would NOT recommend trying the spicy tomato tea if you are pregnant. I am 6 months pregnant and I thought I would try this when I got a bad case of congestion. I ended up getting even worse heartburn that kept me miserable and awake for half the night!! This drink has everything they tell you to avoid for heartburn (citric acid from tomato and lemon juice plus the hot sauce), but I didn't give it much thought because I haven't had much of an issue with heartburn like some people do during pregnancy (I only had it mildly one other time)."
10/08/2008: Suzanne from Somerset, NJ replies: "To thwart off heartburn whether pregnant or not, add a bit of sugar to cut down the acidity. I just made some tomato tea and added about a 1/2 to 1 tsp to about 16oz. No heartburn and usually I get it BAD. Also, keep some papaya enzyme on hand for heartburn."
05/05/2009: Anna from SFO, CA replies: "Caution : Papaya can cause miscarriage. I dont know if this is true. But when you are pregnant, it is better to avoid it. I have heard that people use raw papaya juice to get rid of unwanted pregnancy ! Some say the very ripe papaya is OK, but I stayed away from it during my pregnancy as there are tons of other good fruits to eat."

[WORKED TEMPORARILY] 08/17/2008: Jen from Portsmouth, New Hampshire writes: "I have been taking ACV for my seasonal allergies for a couple of weeks and it has worked wonders. Unfortunately, today I had to clean out our rental property that was filthy with cigarette smoke, dust, pet hair ect... A few hours after I finished, my allergies started acting up and the ACV didn't quite cut it. I can't breath from my nose, and my sinus' are very congested. I tried irrigating, but it didn't really work. I just tried the tomato tea without the lemon because I don't have any in the house and the stores are closed. It really helped while I was drinking it, but as soon as I finished it the congestion came back. I am going to drink some more before I try to go back to sleep. I can't wait to try it with the lemon. I'm going to drink it all day tomorrow. By the way I love the taste! I use raw garlic and cayenne all of the time to fight infections. I've grown accustom to the taste. Thank God for such inexpensive natural remedies!"
03/07/2009: Lori from Walden, NY replies: "I think it's important to say here, that since this user cleaned out a nasty apartment, it most likely triggered the allergies again...I'd say this is a special exception to this remedy."

[YEA] 08/14/2008: Shani from Atlanta, GA writes: "Thank you so much for this suggestion. After days of popping extra strength Tylenol to alleviate the pain from nasal congestion I goggle searched a home remedy solution and found the recipe for tomato tea. All I had was some organic tomato soup which has seasonings including garlic in it but it absolutely helped! I drank two cups heated in the microwave and a day later I feel so much better and can concentrate at work and I'm not in pain. Thank you, thank you, thanks you!!!"
