Accurate pH Reading
Posted by Designergirl (British Columbia, Canada) on 01/05/2014
Hi, I'm very interested in knowing if testing the urine or saliva for the PH of the body is more accurate. In the past, I only tested the urine, but recently began testing both and find that often they don't match with the saliva often being far more alkaline. Isn't it normal for the urine to be slightly acidic to avoid UT infections too?

Accurate pH Reading
Posted by Anonymous (Mt. Vernon, Washington) on 08/10/2005
you can get an accurate pH reading by using one drop bromthymol blue in urine and saliva. Reading should be between 6.4 and 6.8. Take the test 1.5 hrs. after eating. Test after eating foods to see how your body reacts. Strips aren't as accurate.

Acidic Urine
Posted by Heavenlightly (Huntsville, Alabama ) on 09/02/2010
OK so 02/16/2010: Bill from San Fernando, Luzon, Philippines:
So Bill I read your post and was wondering if you changed your diet much or maybe you already eat a "healthy" diet. I am wanting to get rid of aches and pains, sinus allergies etc and my son has a Jock itch that he has had for a few years now. Also ringing in the ears which I believe is candida related. So I will be trying the pH balance and other stuff you mentioned for the Jock itch and see how that goes. I don't have a problem eating more raw but was wondering if that is what you did or not. If this helps I will be letting all know. Thanks and God Bless You All

Alkaline Urine
Posted by Corinna (London, England) on 02/12/2010
Why does everybody want to have alkaline urine?
I recently read the book 'Folk medicine' by D.C. Jarvis that is recommanded by this website. It is very interesting because the good doctor made numerous in-depth studies about acidic and alkaline urine in animals, children and adults. He went about very methodically in years and years of observations and found out clearly that an ACIDIC urine is healthy and that an ALKALINE urine is a sign of stress, over-exhaustion and the onset of disease.
These findings make me happy because they co-incite with my own experiences and those of my family. The healthier we are and the more healthfood we eat the more stable our urine is on the acidic side.
I know that the trend at the moment is that everybody wants to have alkaline urine. But why? Are there any studies or any other proof? When researching this topic years ago I could not find any. Can you enlighten me?

Alkalizing and the Body Electric
Posted by Bill (San Fernando, Philippines) on 09/28/2014
I just thought I'ld put up some interesting information on the relationship between electricity or body voltage and health. This is just another well-reasoned explanation and diagnostic method for identifying and dealing with chronic disease. Dr Jerry Tennant is famous for this electrical approach to diagnose and cure disease. In his view, the body is simply a battery consisting of many smaller batteries -- or cells -- in series. If your body or local voltage is at the correct negative millivolt levels then you are healthy. But if you're cells are too positive - lacking in electron donors - chronic disease will arise.
This electrical aspect to health also ties in well with what Ted from Bangkok has described in the past about using ORP, pH and Conductivity meters to monitor your own health.
This video is pretty much about having enough electron donors in your body in order to remain healthy. This video also offers another interesting and fairly convincing electrical explanation as to why the human body needs to alkalize: Health is Voltage

Apple Cider Vinegar

Ok, gave in and bought some with organic honey to get it down. Not too bad, this AM was my first day. I dont believe in cures unless they happen for me. But within an hour I felt I dont know, different. And I got a cold sore pop up. Related? I dont know. But I do know that I havent taken my 30 mg of Prevacid and had two nice belches that were not acidic. Hmm Interesting. Will it work? But what is going on in my body. Guess we will see. I want to straighten out my ph and see if it helps with arthritis and gerd. Will let you know as it progresses.
Apple Cider Vinegar

I hve been drinking 1 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar twice a day for nearly a year. My health is good, my skin feels best while drinking this. I dilute it some and drink it through a straw to bypass my teeth. However when testing my urine with a ph strip in the a.m., I am high on the acid side; 5.5. Sometimes during the day that number will climb to a 6.5 or 7. Sometimes it stays the same. Why aren't I getting an akaline/normal reading? Thanks.

I was taking acv everyday for several weeks and came down with an uti. drank a stronger dose and had blood in urine. Went to Dr and checked my urine and ph level was 6.5. took antibiotics and it cleared it up. Now... should i be adding baking soda to it seeing that i am acidic? And why would i even get an uti when i was already on acv drink.i also hear that when a person has anxiety problems like me, it could be caused from being too acidic. Can someone please help me decide what i should be doing. Thank you so very much

Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda
Posted by John (Buffalo, Ny) on 08/25/2011
Hello, I keep reading all about the benefits of ACV. But I also keep reading all about baking soda to akalanize the body's ph. How can I take them both orally without negating their effects? Will taking either or both, alkalize ph? Thanks John

I'm taking the ACV / baking soda 2 x day for well being. Does this alkalize the body to prevent disease or do you have to take the other formula that Ted mentions of Baking soda with half glass of water? In other words do these formulas accomplish the same thing or are they for accomplishing two different things to help prevent disease ? I wanted to do both of them but didn't know if it is overkill ?

From all that I have been reading in researching how to alkalize your body PH, although lemons (citrus) and apple cider vinegar are Acid in their raw form, when the body processes them they both have an alkalizing effect.
Apple Cider Vinegar, Magnesium Hydroxide
Posted by Roger (Colorado Springs, Colorado) on 06/06/2011
I see that there is a lot of talk about adding baking soda to ACV. The whole point of adding sodium bicarbonate to ACV is to turn the mixture neutral. When you do this, it means that there is going to be a bunch of sodium in the mixture. This is not necessarily bad. But, if you take 7 parts of ACV and add 2 parts of Milk of Magnesia (MOM) or magnesium hydroxide, you can turn your mixture to neutral PH and get a really good night's sleep.
If you take too much magnesium, your stools will disintegrate. That is how you know that you have taken too much.

Can I add Sea salt to ACV and not effect the PH or alter it in a way that takes away from its full benefit. I noticed that when I add the large grained sea salt it disolves very quickly. While in water it takes some time while stirring it briskly.
