Adenomyosis is a condition where the endometrial tissue, which normally lines the uterus, grows into the muscular wall of the uterus. This can cause symptoms such as severe menstrual cramps, heavy bleeding, abdominal bloating, and pelvic pain. While conventional treatments are available, many individuals seek natural remedies for adenomyosis to help manage these symptoms. Below are several effective natural approaches to consider.

1. Anti-Inflammatory Diet

An anti-inflammatory diet is essential for reducing symptoms of adenomyosis. This diet includes many fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as salmon, mackerel, and sardines, are particularly beneficial due to their anti-inflammatory properties. It's important to avoid processed foods, refined sugars, and excessive caffeine, which can exacerbate inflammation and symptoms.

2. Herbal Supplements

Vitex (Chaste Tree Berry): Known for regulating menstrual cycles and balancing hormones, Vitex can help alleviate symptoms associated with adenomyosis.

Turmeric and Curcumin: Turmeric, particularly its active compound curcumin, has strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that can reduce pain and inflammation.

Dong Quai: Often referred to as "female ginseng," Dong Quai may assist in balancing hormones and easing menstrual discomfort.

3. Warm Compresses

Applying a warm compress to the lower abdomen can soothe cramps and alleviate pain. This simple remedy can be done using a warm towel, heating pad, or warm water bottle.

4. Acupuncture and Acupressure

Acupuncture and acupressure are traditional Chinese medicine practices believed to balance the body's energy flow, known as "qi." These techniques can help relieve pain and improve symptoms by promoting relaxation and reducing stress.

5. Essential Oils

Lavender Oil: Lavender oil is known for its calming effects and can be massaged into the abdomen to relieve pain and tension.

Clary Sage Oil: This essential oil is thought to balance hormones and reduce menstrual pain when used with a carrier oil and massaged onto the abdomen.

6. Pelvic Floor Therapy

Some individuals with adenomyosis may benefit from pelvic floor therapy, which focuses on relaxing and strengthening the pelvic floor muscles. This therapy can reduce pain and improve overall pelvic health.

7. Yoga and Meditation

Certain yoga poses, such as the 'child's pose' or 'supine twist,' can help alleviate menstrual cramps and pelvic pain. Additionally, meditation practices, including deep breathing and guided imagery, can reduce stress and provide a sense of calm, which may help in managing pain.

8. Castor Oil Packs

Applying castor oil packs to the abdomen can enhance circulation and support detoxification processes, potentially reducing pain and inflammation.

9. Additional Natural Remedies

Magnesium Supplements: Magnesium helps relax muscles and may reduce menstrual cramps, relieving those with adenomyosis.

Ginger Tea: Known for its anti-inflammatory benefits, ginger tea can be a soothing drink to help alleviate discomfort.

Evening Primrose Oil: This supplement is believed to help balance hormones and reduce the severity of menstrual pain.

Summary

Adenomyosis can cause significant discomfort, but natural remedies offer a holistic approach to symptom management. By incorporating dietary changes, herbal supplements, and lifestyle therapies, individuals can find relief from pain and improve their quality of life.

Adenomyosis Remedies

Posted by Sarah (Los Angeles, Ca) on 09/25/2013

Just received diagnosis of adenomyosis, which is similar to endometriosis except it is within the uterine wall. Experiencing debilitating pelvic pain, heavy periods and abdominal bloating. Western medicine provides only hormonal options or hysterectomy - neither of which will work as I am 'allergic' to synthetic hormones and still would like to become pregnant and have children. Please if anyone has natural remedies, if you could share them with me. I am scared and devastated. Recent history of physical and emotional trauma, PTSD may be contributing. I believe treatments for this ailment will differ from those for endometriosis.

Dear Sarah,

I am so sorry about the terrible pain and stress you are having. So many have been relieved of disease with natural remedies and I am hopeful it will be the case for you as well.

I think it is possible that there may be some natural treatments for Adenomyosis that would be ones that work for Endometriosis. So many natural cures are solving the root problem. And many of us have the same root problem. Apple Cider Vinegar and Blackstrap Molasses help a shocking variety of health conditions. Probably because they are balancing the body PH and addressing nutritional deficiencies, respectively. They help the body to work better and heal from disease.

And those are two things that are inexpensive and easy to try. 1-2 T. Raw Apple Cider Vinegar morning and evening. 1 T. Blackstrap molasses, twice a day. It may sound too simple, but I personally have had great results with these two things.

Another thing is charcoal poultices. Charcoal works on bacteria, toxins, inflammation and pain. It has healed endometriosis and other female troubles among countless other things. I would try charcoal poultices on your abdomen, over your uterus 5 nights a week. If you go to the Activated Charcoal page on EC, How to Make a Charcoal Poultice is listed in the Table of Contents.

Red Raspberry Leaf is helpful to many female conditions. I would try drinking a couple of cups of the tea each day.

All of these things can be done together (though you may want to add just one a week to see how your body responds. ) Just one may work, but sometimes it helps to do several things.

You are having a lot of stress... if you can take a walk a few times a week, that would be good for stress and for general health.

Please keep us posted on your progess! May God give you healing and your heart's desire for children some day!

Sarah, it wouldn't hurt to try Blackstrap Molasses. Start with 1/2 teaspoon daily. Read up on it.

Adenomyosis Remedies

Hi Ted,

I have read so much about your site. I just want to ask just one question. I have Adenomyosis,

(A 7CM Adneomyoma of the uterus). It was shown on the pelvic sono as a fibroid. I went to another doctor and took an MRI, shows that I have Adenomyosis, of course I do have few 1.4 cm fibroids. This is on the right side of me and never hurts. For years I have been having pain on my left side where a Adenomyosis was found. I took to a holistic ND, who said for me not to drink green tea, because green tea has caffeine and this makes fibroids grow more. She said to drink red raspberry tea. I am confused, because on your site, there are talks about green tea being good for fibroids. I used to drink decaffeinted with (4% caffeine). Ted Please let me know any suggestion to shrink Adenomyosis. This is a growth inside of the uterus, the opposite of Endometroisis. I was told that enzyme breaks up fibroids tissue. Please let me know your suggesttion of these growths on the uterus. Adenomyosis is a thickening of the uterus.

Thanks Ted.

Hi:). I am 34 no children yet.. About 9 years ago I learned had a small fibroid about the size of a nickel then.. Nothing to be concerned with. About 2 years I began a fertility work up BC we have been trying to conceive for almost 10 years with no luck:(. All my tests and procedures came back good! We found out my husband whom has a son from previous relationship actually has a low count.. So we began to consider options to increase the chances for his sperm. When I went in for an ultrasound before starting shots my dr saw something odd and realized I have a rather large (7cm) pedunculated suberosal fibroid. I had a proper ultrasound done to be sure & as soon as it was official she said my options are surgery or luperol to shrink it. Neither option sounded good to me:(. I've read to many negatives about both. I was devastated it almost ruined my marriage... I just couldn't understand why god was making this so hard for my husband & I. About a year ago we got back on track thank god:). Now we are ready to try ivf if they say it's possible with my growth???

Now I'm on here & super curious about ACV and baking soda & all this suff! ? I've always had regular cycles... 26-28 days apart and last for about 4-5 days total. Severe cramps & fairly heavy bleeding. My fibroid being on the outside actually doesn't effect periods but it's in the way of my baby dreams! My questions are have any of you seen actual shrinkage of your fibroids from ACV etc? Also do any of you have my type of fibroid? Pedunculated suberosal outside top of uterus on a stalk??
Thanks so much! Any info & advice is deeply appreciated!!! Respond on here or email me: love2teach77(at)aol.com
Thanks again! Shelly

@Shelly>I was told about Sepia and it completely shrank my cysts. My friend quit drinking alcohol and she was able to get pregnant after trying for many years. And it's not always the woman, have your parnters sperm motility checked. Good Luck and blessings.

Fennel Seeds for Adenomyosis

I've been diagnosed with adenomyosis. TMI warning!! I use a diva cup so I keep a diary of blood loss. My last period in May was about 45 oz. The most it was before was around 24 oz. I got a CT early July and my uterus is 21x12x16cm when it was 14cm in 2019. I recently stumbled upon fennel seeds (use organic! Mountain Rose is a great resource). I'm on day 23 of period and just over 100 oz of blood with lots of clots. My belly feels much smaller now after 10 days of 1/2 tsp of fennel seeds with meals. From wedmd: "For women with painful menstrual cramps, fennel may provide relief. Studies show that the nitrites in fennel improve blood flow, which can help the uterus more efficiently expel the uterine lining and shorten the length of menstruation."— https://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/health-benefits-fennel. I've also added vitex back and add about 1 tsp in my morning coffee that I take with raw cacao powder and molasses and alternating with cinnamon/cardamom, though by itself in the past I didn't see any improvement. I've read that you should take a break after 6 months for the vitex. No such warning for fennel seeds, I've seen yet, but if you try fennel seeds be prepared for lots of bathroom runs. I've also lost about 12 pounds in 15 days, though the heat could have something to do with that :) I'm 5'2", 54 yo and was stuck at 140lbs for a couple of years, when I used to fluctuate between 110-125 in my 20s-40s. 128lbs today. Good luck everyone.
