Hi. I wrote in last month about the wonders of baking soda for underarm body odor. Well I still agree that it's a great remedy, however I had a side effect that I wanted to share. A few days ago I shaved and after getting out of the shower, put baking soda under my arms. I guess I had nicked an area because it hurt like crazy after the baking soda hit it. That night, I started to feel shooting pain in the same area... it lasted all night. The next morning, still in pain, I looked in the mirror at my armpit and discovered a big ole boil forming. I am guessing that a chunk of baking soda got in and irritated the area. Knowing how great turmeric is for cysts and boils, I immediately went and got some warm water and put a teaspoon of turmeric in it and chugged it down. The shooting pain stopped in about 3 hours and the next day the boil was half the size. 2 days later it is gone. My suggestion is not to apply baking soda to your armpits if you have nicked them while shaving! I continue to use the b.s. but haven't had any more inflammation in that area.

OK guys, you have to try the baking soda remedy! It's awesome!! I have been wetting and then patting some baking soda under my arms after a shower and then going to the office. No b.o. all day -- amazing! One thing I suggest -- if you do wet the baking soda down before application, just make sure it dries before you put on a shirt. I didn't wait one day, put on a tee-shirt and hit the town. Later I looked in the mirror and discovered HUGE whitish stain rings around my pits. It looked terrible! I had a good laugh and then got mortified that I'd been out all day with pit rings. Ha ha.

Make a paste of coconut oil and baking soda. A little bit goes a long way.

The baking soda remedy for body odor was the lucky charm! I tried the zinc oxide remedy after reading it on your site. I think it worked but my armpits were way too greasy! It was very uncomfortable. After that I tried baking soda on my armpits and let me tell you -- it's a winner. Lasts all day and is much better than any natural or chemical deordorant I have ever tried. I now wet the baking soda down before applying it.. otherwise it is gritty. I think baking soda is probably one of the safest remedies to put near your lymph nodes. No way aluminum! I wonder if some day they will attribute some cases of breast cancer to the aluminum in deodorant and location of the sentinel lymph node. Just a theory of mine

1.Do i need to apply it directly in my armpit after taking a bath?
2. Do i still need to used deodorants/ antiperspirants after i applying baking soda?
3. How to prevent excessive sweating?

EC: 1. Yes, that would be most effective.

For some reason, a persistent rash flared up in one arm pit, and over the course of 12 months or more, it did appeared in the other. It got so bad that the skin broke from excessive itching. Everything and anything I used to wash with caused a flare up, except Pinetarsol. I really wasn't happy with having to use this long-term, but it was all that could keep it to a minimum. Nothing reduced it completely. Not even a cortisol cream. Luckily, I was recommended a honey-based cream which now stops the rash, but the sensitivity to deodorants, whether they be chemically laden or not, still exists. I just resigned to the fact that being a little smelly was an option I could live with when compared to the horrible rash. A friend suggested patting on some bicarb soda - how obvious! Absorbs moisture and eliminates odour's. It's fantastic that something so simple is so effective. I pat on a little in the mornings, and I an odour free for the whole day. I believe it works better than conventional deodorant. And it does not create a rash flare up. So at last, I am rash free and odour free!

A huge breakthrough my friends!!! After spending a fortune trying to find a 'natural' alternative to the toxic deodorants on the market, I stumbled upon this homemade miracle:

You can follow the exact recipe or adapt it. I used around 55 grams of Bicarbonate Soda, 30 grams of corn flour and around 8 Tbs of coconut oil. (add more if you need to)
Mix it into a good consistency... Not too, runny not too thick. Put it in a glass jar. Voila! Rub a little under your arms and that's that. Your search is over. I swear by this. It truly works... And keeps on working. Yay! The manufacturers have just lost millions. :)
PS: I just had to share this one. I truly love this site. It's helped so many people. Many many thanks to Earth Clinic for all that you do.

I developed a rash from commercial deodorants and tried some commercial sticks without the aluminum...no rash but had bad BO. So now I have concocted a recipe that works for me 1/3 baking soda, 1/3 corn starch, 1/3 baby powder, then make into a thick paste using citrus antiseptic mouthwash and a little lotion. Works great for me!

This works! Since high schools I've had times when I get a rash from deodorant, which in turn causes a musty body odor problem. This doesn't happen all the time, but at least once a year. It's horribly embarrassing, and I've never found relief other than to just wait for it to clear up.

I had this problem beginning 4 days ago and tried everything including ACV, mouthwash, tee tree oil, corn starch. Nothing worked and my underarms just burned and smelled all day. I was washing them 4 or 5 times a day with no relief.

I read this cure this morning and tried it right away. INSTANT results. No more odor, burning, or discomfort. Thank you so much for this. I have seriously never found a cure for this issue.

I think this mixture will now replace my deodorant. I feel fresher than ever.

Baking Soda, Hydrogen Peroxide

Remedy - Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking Soda

Ailment - Natural Underarm Deodorant

I have been using for two weeks now, apply hydrogen peroxide and baking soda under my arms for a natural deodorant and have had excellent results. I was trying to eliminate the harmful ingredients from store bought deodorants, like aluminum being applied where our glands are and trying to eliminating absorbing the toxic metals and ingredients.

What I do is, after taking a cold shower (you can do hot one too), I take a cotton swab/pad and put the hydrogen peroxide on the pad and then wipe under my arms. This helps to clean the area and it will be slightly damp to hold the baking soda from the next step. Then I take the same pad and put it in the box of baking soda and get some on the pad. Then wipe the pad under the arm spreading the baking soda around for good coverage. You don't want to put clumps on, just spread evenly leaving an even whiteness. It should not be in a paste, it should be almost like a dusting. Make sure your under arm is dry before putting on a shirt and you are ready for great day.

The whole amount is under $1 USD and it lasts longer than the store bought brands. For me I would be usually pretty ripe by the evening or morning using traditional deodorants, but this has been lasting longer and with less smell when it does wear off. Give it a try, I've been pleasantly surprised.

NOTE 1: Be careful if you have chaffing under your arms, the peroxide may sting.

Note 2: It may take longer to apply than traditional deodorants and until you get used to doing it, I would recommend putting it on with as few as clothes as possible as to not have powder falling off onto your good clothing.

Good Luck!

Underarm Body Odor

I have switched to aluminum free deodorant, but was experiencing underarm odor using these deodorants. I am now using a combination of an aluminum-free deodorant along with a solution I created to fortify the effectiveness of the deodorant. My formula is 7 tsp of water, 1 tsp of baking soda, 1 ml of tea tree oil, and 1 tsp of witch hazel. Shake vigorously to dissolve the soda. Pour into a small atomizing bottle and spray on after appying deodorant. I usually spray three sprays. It is now working fine and I am now odor free.

I had ingested the bentonite clay (1 Tablespoon diluted with water; 15 ml) to reslove some toxicity issues and noticed that my body odor was completely solved as well. it has absolutely no taste and no side effects. it didn't make me nauseated like ACV makes me feel. also make your salivatory glands pure so your mouth is "fresh". I love this stuff.

Benzoyl Peroxide

Posted by Jerry (Ab, Canada) on 04/15/2013

I developed a nasty underarm odor 3 years ago. The smell would not go away with any amount of washing. Deodorant began to irritate my underarms. Before I knew it, I had developed a rash and couldn't apply deodorant. I suspect this was caught from my frequent use of hot tubs during the time.

After applying every known antifungal/antibacterial herb, I read online to use rubbing alcohol under my arms and eventually the rash went away along with the smell! Although using deodorant would always irritate my underarm skin and cause the smell to come back worse than before a few hours later.

Sadly the smell would always return if I hadn't used rubbing alcohol in 8 to 24hours or so. It would also always return 2 hours after a shower if I did not use rubbing alcohol after a shower.

I eventually developed some weird white pubic hairs in my private area that were thick and very brittle. I found out online it was Trichomycosis axillaris. The standard treatment for it is benzoyl peroxide.

Ever since purchasing a benzoyl peroxide product(acne face wash) and using it on my private area the bacteria was gone along with the usual smell I had down below(I always thought was normal) when I'd sweat too much.

I decided to use it on my underarms and wow my underarms no longer feel sticky and never have that strong smell anymore! Even after 2 days without showering!

Use it at the end of the shower, rub the cream into affected areas for 30 seconds then wash away. I got results after 4 uses of it and continued for 20 more uses after to make sure.

Borax, Coconut Oil

I suffered from severe underarm odor since junior high school. Even though I would bathe several times daily, as soon as I jumped out of the shower, I would still have a musty, onion-like odor. And the more I would worry about it, the more I would smell. Surprisingly, I didn't seem to have as much of a problem with odor when I was working out in the gym. I finally found something to help the odor. I asked my doctor to prescribe sulfacetamide cream, which I applied under my arms on freshly cleaned skin. I then applied Secret Clinical Antiperspirant and then Shower to Shower powder. This helped me for a couple of years, at least. But I began to have an allergic reaction to it. I began getting sore throats and upper respiratory infections because of it, so I had to discontinue use.

So I began researching this site again and found an even better answer for me! I now wash gently under my armpits with borax. (Using soap leaves a film on which the bacteria will eat and multiply, causing odor!! ) I then apply extra virgin organic coconut oil and then sprinkle baking soda on top. Amazing!! NO ODOR! At night after my shower, I just use coconut oil. (Using baking soda twice daily, along with the borax, can be very irritating. ) Keep in mind that you will have to get used to sweating - a good thing. However, you may continue using antiperspirant on top of the coconut oil and baking soda. Hope this helps! Blessings!

Brown deodorant stone cured my body odor. Readers from Malaysia can buy it from some pharmacies in Kuala Lumpur. I have been using it for many years, very effective and made from volcanic deposits - no chemicals.I get my supply from a pharmacy in Sogo complex. Really economical and long lasting effect. On the packing it says 36 hours freshness.Totally different from other white deodorant crystal. Should be able to help many readers rid their bo problem.

I did internet search for brown deodorant stone and found ___ also known as _____. I really hope that it is as effective as you mentioned. I am using white deodorant stone and it is effective only for about 5-6 hours. When I sweat profusely during workouts, it is not effective. I will purchase it on-line

Cabbage

Body Odor: Raw Red Cabbage, I eat about 1 cup a day with olive oil and sea salt. I do not have any odor with or without my natural deoderant. I find it pretty amazing that all I need to do is eat cabbage and I do not have to worry. I am a massage therapist, so I need to be odor free. I refuse to use regular deoderant, so I have been searching for an answer. I also drink green drinks, do applecider vinegar, you name it, I take it or have taken it. None has worked. I am so happy for this find that I needed to share it, so others who struggle with it no longer need to. Hope you try it, you won't be dissapointed.

Thank you for this great remedy! I started it this morning with an old recipe my mother came up with in the 1970s for us kids in order to get more vegetables and fruits into our bodies. Blend 1 apple (I used granny smith), 1/2 cup cabbage chopped and 1/2 cup (or more) of distilled water. It was far more than I could eat at one go, so I have stuck it in the fridge and plan to eat it throughout the day. Oh, my mother also added blueberries and other fruit to the blender as well as some honey. But for me, just the apple and red cabbage is quite yummy! Will report back in a week or so and let you know my results for underarm odor.
