Ebola: Are Natural Remedies Helpful?

There's no doubt that ebola (ebola hemorrhagic fever) is a frightening disease.  Our readers are also concerned about ebola and have submitted some suggestions for natural remedies for this viral infection.  Readers report that natural remedies for the ebola virus could include hydrogen peroxide (either inhaled or taken internally), colloidal silver, high doses of vitamin c and more.  Supporting the immune system is very important.

The virus causes both internal and external bleeding, ultimately reducing the blood-clotting ability of the cells and resulting in uncontrollable bleeding.   The spreading virus causes damage to organs and the immune system.  The virus is contracted by contact with bodily fluids from an infected person.  Symptoms appear 2-21 days after infection.  Diagnosis is done by blood and tissue tests.  Well over half of those with ebola do not survive.

Learn what Earth Clinic readers suggest for this deadly virus below and let us know what natural cures you recommend for Ebola.

Ebola and Ibuprofen

I posted this inside of another post about a different subject yesterday, but felt that it deserved its own post so it can be filed in the Ebola section. It appears that the common pain reliever ibuprofen may be helpful in the fight against the Ebola Virus based on this recent study and certainly deserves to be listed as another possible agent to fight the deadly disease:

Ebola Remedies

Because BHT [ butylated hydroxytoluene ] has proven to be both an effective treatment for and preventive measure against any and all lipid coated viruses to at least some degree and in many cases a very effective one I do suggest using BHT as precautionary measure against becoming infected with Ebola. The dosages most often discussed are 250mg to 500mg of BHT with water on an empty stomach. Ebola just recently showed up in New York City. We have an MD no less to thank for this. He traveled about NYC and went bowling and such and now has been identified as a Ebola infectee after having been treating Ebola patients in Africa.

Most people but not everyone tolerates the daily doses stated so start out with split capsules to find out if you tolerate BHT without any problem or not. But Ebola has come to the USA and many places other than Africa. And you Africans can of course use BHT also. It is not worth a try ? It may be very effective. If your life is at stake is it not worth a try ? ...Oscar

Thanks for your post

From Wikipedia: Debate surrounds the link of BHT to cancer risk, asthma and behavioral issues in children;[8] some studies show a potential to increase and some showing a decrease in risk.[9][10][11] Some food industries have voluntarily eliminated this additive from their products, and since the 1970s, it has been steadily replaced with BHA. BHT is marketed as a health food supplement in capsule form. It has been reported to have anti-viral effects, particularly in use against herpes family viruses and in combination with L-lysine and vitamin C.[12][13][14][15][16][17][18] This latter use has made it into some of the more popular literature.[19][20][21] Closely related phenol antioxidants exhibit low toxicity. For example, the LD50 of 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol is greater than 9 g/kg.[

And from the US National Library of Medicine National Institute of Health

Final report on the safety assessment of BHT(1).

Lanigan RS, Yamarik TA.

Abstract

BHT is the recognized name in the cosmetics industry for butylated hydroxytoluene. BHT is used in a wide range of cosmetic formulations as an antioxidant at concentrations from 0.0002% to 0.5%. BHT does penetrate the skin, but the relatively low amount absorbed remains primarily in the skin. Oral studies demonstrate that BHT is metabolized. The major metabolites appear as the carboxylic acid of BHT and its glucuronide in urine. At acute doses of 0.5 to 1.0 g/kg, some renal and hepatic damage was seen in male rats. Short-term repeated exposure to comparable doses produced hepatic toxic effects in male and female rats. Subchronic feeding and intraperitoneal studies in rats with BHT at lower doses produced increased liver weight, and decreased activity of several hepatic enzymes. In addition to liver and kidney effects, BHT applied to the skin was associated with toxic effects in lung tissue. BHT was not a reproductive or developmental toxin in animals. BHT has been found to enhance and to inhibit the humoral immune response in animals. BHT itself was not generally considered genotoxic, although it did modify the genotoxicity of other agents. BHT has been associated with hepatocellular and pulmonary adenomas in animals, but was not considered carcinogenic and actually was associated with a decreased incidence of neoplasms. BHT has been shown to have tumor promotion effects, to be anticarcinogenic, and to have no effect on other carcinogenic agents, depending on the target organ, exposure parameters, the carcinogen, and the animal tested. Various mechanism studies suggested that BHT toxicity is related to an electrophillic metabolite. In a predictive clinical test, 100% BHT was a mild irritant and a moderate sensitizer. In provocative skin tests, BHT (in the 1% to 2% concentration range) produced positive reactions in a small number of patients. Clinical testing did not find any depigmentation associated with dermal exposure to BHT, although a few case reports of depigmentation were found. The Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel recognized that oral exposure to BHT was associated with toxic effects in some studies and was negative in others. BHT applied to the skin, however, appears to remain in the skin or pass through only slowly and does not produce systemic exposures to BHT or its metabolites seen with oral exposures. Although there were only limited studies that evaluated the effect of BHT on the skin, the available studies, along with the case literature, demonstrate no significant irritation, sensitization, or photosensitization. Recognizing the low concentration at which this ingredient is currently used in cosmetic formulations, it was concluded that BHT is safe as used in cosmetic formulations.

I've read that no virus that has ever been tested can stand up to vitamin C -- they are always killed!

Remember the New Zealand farmer who only survived a deadly flu because his family insisted on vitamin C. They gave him an expensive commercial Liposomal C but you can easily make it yourself very cheaply with a little equipment.

By the way, liposomal C also cured that farmer of a previously undiagnosed leukemia.

Just want to share two articles that I read and thought provided some interesting information regarding ebola & homeopathic remedies. After reading the first manuscript (link below), I stumbled upon the Joette Calabrese blog, highlighting the same suggestions but presenting a course of action if faced with dealing with Ebola. I don't think anyone wants to be paranoid about what is or could happen with this outbreak, but we, citizens of the US, are DEFINITELY NOT being told the entire truth about transmissions and are being told absolutely nothing about preventative measures (probably because the CDC is still unsure how either doctor transported back to the US or the recent nurse in Dallas received it! ). If you come across any new information in regards, I would be interested in hearing about it. ~ Because we all know "The money isn't in the cure, it's in the medicine! MMS should work against Ebola, as it has been successful in curing malaria, cancer and aids.

Also I'd suggest BS and Molasses to alkalize the body. I have been using Baking Soda and Molasses once or twice a day for the last couple of months. I think I was very acidic and feel so much more energetic and stronger. I am using Vince Johnston's method of 1 TSP of BS and about the same of molasses dissolved in hot water, 90 minutes before or after eating food daily. Add folic acid as BS depletes the body of folic acid.

I haven't used colloidal silver for years but I do believe it's a valid antimicrobial.

I think we should all have these products at home just in case. I also think it makes sense to start with a minimal dose of H2O2 ( 2 drops of 35% food grade working up to 10 drops) every day as a preventative, along with a daily dose of turmeric.

I am looking for common sense recommendations for ebola (& other viruses). Such as, I assume sunshine would be a disinfectant so we would expose contaminated people to the sun as much as practical, hang cleaned clothing in the sunshine, etc. What about the dishes--dishwasher? Does heat kill it, or must we use bleach? With what do we clean our doorknobs, telephones, etc? I assume we cover mouth & nose, sneezes, etc, but what else should be done? If the incubation takes 2-21 days, you could be exposed and not know. I already eat lots of garlic and onion, try to live a healthy lifestyle, but we all get out into the public, so what should we do? I can think of lots, but you may have suggestions I haven't thought of. Also, do we know for sure how long it lives on surfaces? Some say not long when exposed to air, but is 'not long' 2 hours or 2 days? Thanks.

Here is an interesting article that would seem to indicate that colloidal silver (at 10 ppm) is very useful against the Ebola virus.

It's already well known that colloidal silver is very effective against all viruses and is particularly suitable for blood-active viruses like Ebola.

The link below from Natural News describes how three large shipments of colloidal silver(at 10 ppm) to Sierra Leone -- the source of the latest Ebola pandemic -- were deliberately interfered with and stopped by the CDC/WHO by their influence over governments. These corrupt organizations know very well how effective colloidal is against viruses -- and the last thing they want is for a cheap, unpatented medicine like CS to actually be successfully used and publicly proven to be effective against the Ebola virus.

Here is the link: Governments seize colloidal silver being used to successfully treat Ebola patients

Thanx for your health action Bill!!

Alex Jones of Infowars.com sells Nascent Iodine and Colloidal Silver directly from his site.

Recently, and with my condition continuing to decline, I tried adding H2O2 to my Silver for enema/colon cleansing and in footbath w/ noticeable improvements. Not a lot of info on this combination but it no doubt very much increases the activity compared to either alone. It is said that Oxygen binds to Silver more readily than Iron and so provides a one two punch to the pathogens. Have not yet tried oral administration but will soon as I previously had no noticeable results from high ppm C.S. alone. You all need to read the article above regarding the use of colloidal silver against ebola and how all media and the World Health organization is blocking shipments and trials of this innocent and effective substance. It is shocking and enlightening that these organizations are controlled by U.S. drug companies and how they are not concerned about the lives of Africans of anyone else who gets in their way. Consider this: Jim Humble spearheaded an effort in Malawi that cured 60,000 people of malaria for ten cents in 10 hours and no one ever heard about it in America. The World Health Org. had him kicked out of the country. He used chlorine dioxide in small dosages. He also cured 200 cases of aids with one month of treatment. Now you may be getting the point of how the world is run by evil and how you have to take care of yourself and your family by natural, , intelligent self effort. Because the, the WHO and all the others have NO officially recognized treatment or preventer it is time to at least TRY the very inexpensive BHT. What is their to lose by at least trying the BHT? BHT has been PROVEN to cure and prevent MANY lipid coated viruses if not all of them. Some recent reports from WebMD here on BHT and hepatitis C and herpes:

The health care workers wore the air system suits out of an abundance of caution, not because the virus is now "airborne". Believing otherwise is just plan absurd. Ignorance may be bliss, but sometimes it's also dangerous.

You mentioned that your daughter works in the medical field. Hypothetically, had she gone to Liberia to help others and became infected, would you want her to remain in a Liberian hospital receiving sub-standard care, or would you want her transported back to the U.S. where she would receive the absolute best care available?

The two American patients were transported back here because they are Americans! Should we have left them to rot and die in a Liberian hospital where they had virtually no chance to survive?

Ebola is not an airborne virus. Enough with the fear-mongering.

The issue of the possible "airborne" ability of the latest version of Ebola is addressed in this article which everyone should read: google, "pacific standard the scariest virus ebola"... this article takes issue with your "certain" position.

This latest strain appears to be far worse than previous outbreaks of Ebola, and how it is transmitted is "up in the air" according to the article.

Hi Dave,

With all due respect, for every article you cite claiming that Ebola is an airborne virus, I can cite one claiming that it isn't.

I do know for "certain" that doctors from the U.S. have been in African countries treating Ebola patients for a very long time. None were infected, until recently.

It is said, regarding transmission, that familiarity breeds not contempt, but casualness. Health care workers who have been working with patients for extended periods become lax and don't adhere to the precautions as strictly and become infected.

One article cited the spread of SARS as an example of the "familiarity". It noted that the spread was completely halted when the precautions were strictly followed.

While many speculate as to whether or not Ebola is airborne, the reality is, that it has not yet been conclusively demonstrated to be airborne. So, until it has been conclusively demonstrated, I, personally, won't push the panic button.

Hello Courtney,

Re: Is Ebola "Airborne"?

Regarding your second Post, you rightly state, "While many speculate whether or not Ebola is airborne, the reality is it has not yet been conclusively demonstrated to be airborne."

That cautious and CORRECT viewpoint is a far cry from your position the day before when you wrote: "Ebola is NOT an airborne virus. Enough with the fear- mongering."

I'm guessing you read the article I cited and understand that there may be a big difference in prior Ebola virus outbreaks from previous decades. If a deadly virus mutates to become airborne (think 1918) and thereby killing millions, then the primary mode of dissemination via blood and bodily fluids would be accelerated if it could be transmitted by air. And the article I cited definitely cites the transmission between two primates (not humans) without transmission of fluids or blood from one to the other.

But there are different ideas of what "airborne" means. Ebola of this recent variety causes substantial bleeding and if the patient coughs or sneezes, microscopic blood particles containing the virus can be transmitted by air. This is not the normal idea of a virus "gone airborne." The 1918 virus (unlike AIDES) did not have to have a fluid for transmission and in fact its main mode of transmission was by air.

I don't believe the Ebola is like the 1918 flu virus (not yet...not mutated that far). But the virus can be in blood droplets that can be coughed into the air and a worker might easily breathe in the contaminated droplet.

That is most likely a fact. So to that limited degree, the virus is most likely airborne but not in the sense that could kill millions.

I don't see that it's a far cry at all. Regardless of the syntax, what I originally said is categorically true--that Ebola is not an airborne virus. I wasn't backing down from that, I was doubling-down when I said that it had not yet been conclusively demonstrated to be airborne. I was standing by my original statement, but since you challenged that statement, I included the fact that Ebola had not been proven to be airborne by any health organization.

It is "categorically true" that Ebola is not an airborne virus? Because it has "not yet been conclusively demonstrated to be airborne?" Nothing is true that has not been demonstrated to be true? "Not proven to be airborne by any health organization?" Since when are health organizations the standard of truth? Hello Nonukes;

Re the nature of Ebola...

Good points. Ebola is a respiratory disease in the form in this current manifestation. (Three others in the past.)

A commentator for the NIH on NBC only three days ago AGAIN confirmed that Ebola is respiratory! Hence, it is not only an infection that can pass by fluid, but can be emitted in the air by a cough.

An infected person can cough and not have any contact with the victim and a cough can travel 20 feet easily. This is why the service workers are wearing much protective clothing.

Ebola is not airborne as in the sense of the 1918 Flu epidemic that killed millions; but neither is Ebola like AIDS. Ebola is highly contagious.

Hello Carly;

Re; Ebola....

My real point is that this current manifestation of Ebola is respiratory.

Now that FACT does not mean Ebola will go global. Who knows what it will do. But the fact that this virus is focused in the respiratory center means it can spread by coughing...and hence it is not like AIDS.

So it can spread more easily than some media commentators like to admit. They continually assert that Ebola is like AIDS in that respect.

So I'm not an alarmist on the extent to which it will go. It may not be nearly as expansive as the 1918 flu virus. I'm just trying to lay out facts.

Facts are apparently hard for a lot of media commentators to admit.

The NIH has been honest and clear about the respiratory nature of the virus.

Dave, thank you for your clarity on this matter. Apparently we will not receive any clarity from the CDC. I'm not sure whether links to URLs are permissible on this site. Just in case, search "global research ebola outbreak risk of airborne contagion." Is it for the latest manifestation of Ebola that the U. S. government owns a patent? If so, that might explain the way it's developing. It isn't necessarily transmitted by personal contact, but it might share other features with the AIDS virus.

Hi Cindy...My apologies to you for not answering straight away. The questions you ask are very wide ranging.

As far as I can work out, the way Ted cures viral problems is always dependent on the behaviour and structure of the specific virus concerned. To give you an idea how many different types of viruses there are out there -- see this link. His general approach is to stimulate the immune system in order to raise up immune system strength against the virus using Vitamin C, Lysine, Threonine etc as shown on EC. Other general approaches may also involve hydrogen peroxide or MMS or CS which are also good viral killers. But you can also use virus specific remedies dependent upon whether the virus is a single stranded RNA virus or double stranded DNA type or how it replicates itself.

Specific remedies can be used against enveloped viruses -- which have an outer cell wall. When they replicate, these viruses generally bud out of the host cell thus also adopting the same cell wall as the host which makes these viruses difficult to detect as the enemy by the immune system. So if you destroy the cell wall using aspirin, coconut oil, iodine etc then the virus is de-cloaked and totally exposed and their foreign protein DNA/RNA will be immediately recognized as the enemy and destroyed by the immune system.

Another specific anti-viral approach is to supplement a herb like Chanca piedra to prevent viral replication by inhibiting the virus's reverse transcriptase(replication) enzyme activity. In a British research study with kids who had both hepatitis and jaundice, it was found that just drinking the water extract of Chanca piedra returned all of their livers back to normal in five days. In another group study with Hep B, they cleared the HBV antigen in 22 out of 37 sufferers within 30 days. See all the research here. Currently, Chanca piedra is also being studied for its positive effects against cancer and HIV.

Against non-enveloped viruses, such as Ebola, its probably better to use hydrogen peroxide or MMS or CS because these work electrically and fast in the blood to destroy viruses. These remedies are also particularly good against cell wall deficient bacteria such as mycoplasma. The danger with the hemorrhagic Ebola strain is the bleeding that it causes(same as hemorrhagic Dengue). The Zaire Ebola strain killed 88% of those who caught the virus. So you have to kill this virus as fast as possible to prevent death by blood loss or organ damage. The new Ebola strain that has emerged in Africa is just as virulent.

The MERS virus is a single stranded RNA virus from the coronovirus family. which strongly resembles the SARS coronovirus. In China, as Ted has related on EC, the Chinese found that spraying their houses with just ordinary dilute vinegar killed the airborne SARS virus. Consequently, during the time of this epidemic in China, the price of a small bottle of vinegar went up to $100 in price. Ted also mentions that paracetic acid -- the combination of drops of acetic acid in hydrogen peroxide is also effective against SARS. For MERS, I would perhaps use Ted's Lysine, Vitamin C etc anti-viral or try the hydrogen peroxide or CS or MMS remedies. The MERS virus has an enveloped cell wall so other remedies such as coconut oil, aspirin, vinegar etc may also work. Another interesting fact about the SARS virus is that it is alkaline resistant. If the MERS virus, which is so similar to SARS, has this same property or resistance then alkalizing the body probably will not work against it. We'll have to wait for more research on the MERS virus.

Now to answer your other question. In the old days they used to make colloidal silver by pounding the silver into a fine powder and dumping it into a solution and then straining it. But these days, colloidal silver is best made ionically by electrolysis by just using two silver plates in solution and electricity. Nano silver is really a definition of size of the silver particle in the CS solution. In other words, both colloidal silver and ionic silver contain nano particles. For more on the difference between ionic, colloidal and nano silver see this link:

BHT is effective for lipid coated viruses. Not sure if it would work as well for acute infections though(?).

See: http://www.projectwellbeing.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/BHTbook-StevenWmFowkes-100903.pdf

"Currently identified lipid viruses include all herpes strains, Epstein-Barr virus, human immunodeficiency virus

(HIV, all strains), cytomegalovirus (CMV), hepatitis virus (B and C), rubella virus (German measles), varicella

virus (chicken pox), Newcastle disease virus, swine fever virus, SARS virus, West Nile virus, Ebola virus, and

influenza virus (all strains, including swine flu and bird flu viruses)."

I'm wondering how well Vitamin C therapy would work for Ebola. Take 1,000 mg of Calcium Ascorbate every hour at the onset of Ebola and it might just stop it from progressing to fullblown Ebola. If you wait till you're bleeding from every orifice, it's probably too late.

Also make sure you take Calcium Ascorbate and NOT Ascorbic Acid. The latter causes diarrhea which will dehydrate you even further, and probably make the disease even worse

Since Vit-C is poorly absorbed in the digestion, I wouldn't count on this being a life-saving or therapeutic method. Liposperic Vit-C would be recommended in this case. I make Liposperic C at home and add Lysine which would further enhance anti-viral action.

Oscar, what is "BHT?" I know people can't spell everything out all the time, but I wish occasionally people new to these kinds of sites didn't have to guess at what ACV, BHT, CS, G., MLJ, etc. are.

Ozone Injections

Posted by Robert Henry (Ten Mile, Tn) on 02/03/2016

HI U GOOD PEOPLE , , , , , , , , , , a year ago the world was in panic over Ebola. You don't hear about that these days and why is that?

I just happen to have the answer. It was Ozone injected directly in to the patients blood stream. And who did this?

Most don't know but Dr Robert Rowen went to the infected countries and he knew that you cannot treat the blood with ozone and insert it back into the body as is normally done. He devised a program to inject the ozone directly into the blood. Guess what? It worked. He was smart enough to not deal with the patients, but to teach the local doctors.

Suggest all Goggle Dr Rowen because he is the reason 16 states can now use Natural MD's. If you follow he and Dr Shallenberger then you are ahead of the game. The establishment tries to disbar these two full time as you will learn on the net.

I think Dr Rowen will be involved in the solution of this Zika virus crisis. He is a kick ass, and take names kind of guy. He does not put up with PC BS.

Sorry for the plain speak, but at 79 , that's just the way I ams.

HI U OLE PATOOTS DOIN,,,,,,,,,, finally found an interview with Dr Rowen where he explained how he addressed Ebola in Sierra Leone a few years ago. It is totally mind boggling in that all the politicians wanted they and their family treated, but not the general public. Sounds like the good ole USA, huh? Medical treatment is now about $$$$$$ all over the world. He goes through that spiel and into all the attributes about Ozone Thearpy. My two Ozone Guru's are Dr Rowen and Dr Shallenberger, but one is a narcissus and the other is just a smart good ole boy who wants to help the world. You make that choice. They both help mankind. I encourage you to go to this site and read what Dr Rowen did, such that Ebola went from the front page to a zero. Then read what he says about this Oxidant and your immune system and health. I promise, it will astound you.

Ebola is a rare but deadly virus that causes bleeding inside and outside the body.

As the virus spreads through the body, it damages the immune system and organs. Ultimately, it causes levels of blood-clotting cells to drop. This leads to severe, uncontrollable bleeding.

The disease, also known as Ebola hemorrhagic fever or Ebola virus, kills up to 90% of people who are infected.
