How to Grow Taller

Human height, along with several other factors, is often associated with an individual’s overall demeanor and confidence. A tall person is often considered more powerful and capable just by mere presence. As such, height is an important factor for many; however, it is largely genetic.

Defined as the distance from the bottom of the feet to the top of the head of the body when standing erect, height is largely dependent upon one’s genetic background. Several different factors affect growth as well, though. Height is generally considered one of the factors of health, as limited growth in height may be a result of malnutrition or other health concerns. Standard of living and quality of life as well as genetic and environmental factors influence an individual’s height. Likewise, hormones, illness, diet, exercise and general life circumstances play an extensive role in the development of height.

In any event, though, an individual may want to try to increase his or her height for a variety of reasons. While several factors that determine growth are out of an individual’s control, several things can be done to enable an individual to grow to his or her greatest potential.

Natural Remedies to Grow Taller

Understanding that height is largely determined by genetics is important; however, many natural supplements and practices can enhance one’s stature and may even add an inch or two to one’s height. Living a healthy lifestyle complete with a healthy amount of rest, exercise and eating whole foods allows the body the greatest chance for growth. Additionally, supplements can be taken to boost growth including aloe vera, calcium, niacin, vitamin D and zinc. Engaging in stretching techniques like yoga and working on one’s posture can also align the body to at least appear taller if not be taller.

I apologize in advance for how lengthy this is. I am writing to let everyone know about the incredible benefits we have experienced with Aloe. About one and a half years ago our whole family came down with whooping cough. I decided to try Aloe, as a friend I had known had had great success with it for treating a serious prolonged cough and my mother also told me that in Colombia SA they would use a beaten concoction of Aloe and egg whites to treat whooping cough when she was a little girl. I reaearched Aloe on the internet, and though I didn't find the egg white recipe, I found many things Aloe is good for. It did work very well for whooping cough, especially helping to calm the nightime attacks, and a friend tried it for her daughter's whooping cough and had the same results. When I looked Aloe up on the internet, the treatment for the ailment that interested me the most was asthma. My son had been struggling with it for several years- not severe, but mostly sports induced and it greatly hindered his ability to play sports. I have tried most home remedies for asthama and have had so-so results. He began drinking it every day and by the end of the second month his attacks were completely gone. As long as he continues to drink it daily, he has no attacks. If he stops it entirely he begins having attacks again after a couple of months.

I found that one of the reasons that Aloe works for asthama (and other conditions like arthritis and lupus) is because it is anti-inflammatory. So, it keeps the airwarys from getting inflamed. Another reason it works is because it is also excellent for treating allergies which many times are a trigger for asthama. One of the reasons it works for allergies is because of the collagen it causes your body to produce which thickens the the mucus linings of your repiratory system and intestinal tract (heals leaky gut) which in turn helps you not to be so sensitive to allergens. Another reason is that it treats systemic candida which is usually the root of asthma and allergies.

The funny thing I noticed, which is not mentioned in any literature I have researched about Aloe, is that it has also helped with his stunted growth. My son is really short for his age and in the two years before taking Aloe, he only grew six inches total. Once he began taking Aloe for his asthma he grew almost six inches in one year. The growth spurt coincided exactly with time he first began the Aloe. I've tried my own "experiments" to see if his growth is related to the Aloe or if it is just his time to start growing, and I've found that if he has a period of a couple of months where he doesn't take his Aloe at all or only takes it once a week or so, he only grows about a quarter of an inch per month or less. When he takes it every single day, he grows about a half inch per month.

My father has been really inspired about my son's story and began taking it himself about four months ago for his prostate. He has been on prostate medication for the past ten years and still gets up to urinate about four times per night. He has tried different prostate medicines as well as his own share of home remedies, and nothing has worked. Well, after drinking Aloe daily for a couple of months, he was able to get off of his prostate medicine completly. Now he only gets up once or twice per night and he's not on any prostate medecine.

I've heard some people make some type of Aloe tea infusion, but the way we take Aloe is this: We buy a fresh Aloe stalk from the produce section of the grocery store. It has to be at least fourteen inches long, or I've read it's not as beneficial. The Aloe has to be nice and firm. Don't use it if it is soft and squishy as it is too old and may actually agravate some candida problems. We slice off a three inch section from the base and peel off the thick green skin with a paring knife and discard it. We then take the gel (from the three inch section) and gently blend it with a drink mixer with some orange juice for palatability. The less you blend, the better as you don't want to destroy the beneficial properties.

You can buy bottled Aloe, but I DON'T RECOMMEND IT! While there may be some good Aloe products out there, I've read that sometimes the bottle can say 100% Aloe and it is actually 95% water, but for some reason the FDA allows them to say 100% Aloe even if it isn't. The other reason is that bottled Aloe is usually pastuerized which kills many of the beneficial enzymes that make Aloe so effective. Fresher is always better with Aloe.

Hi Spencer... The best way to find out what a plant looks like is to type in "Aloe Vera" in Google Images. You will get hundreds of photos of Aloe Vera. This is the way I learnt about herbs like Aloe, Chanca Piedra, Tumeric, Heart Vine, Neem, Graviola etc.

I'm a woman who is 5 foot 8 inches tall.

Drink lots of milk. When I was a child I drank maybe half a gallon of milk a day.

Don't drink alcohol. I have rarely had any alcohol. It seems to me that the people I know who are shorter than me drink alcohol.

People who take antihistamines for asthma or allergies seem to be taller, too.

I also ate canned vegetables with meals when I was a kid, maybe salt helps? Or the iodine in it? Milk is said to have iodine in it.

I could be wrong, but those are my suggestions.

Ted, my son, age 22, has Prader-Willi Syndrome. He needs only 60 percent of the total daily allowance of calories to maintain his weight. (See PWSA online. ). To lose weight people with PWS need a 800-900 calorie diet. We have started using ACV for weight loss, but I am very interested about the use of growth hormones. Researchers have found that adults benefit from the use of growth hormone to lose weight and gain muscle mass. In the US, it is not FDA approved for adults and to get the insurance company to cover the cost is difficult. I just read your post about certain amino acids as a replacement for Human growth hormone. Could you please tell me how much and how often of what particular ami acids we should use? Thank you so much! I'm a new fan of this website! Vinny

I'm afraid that's the build you were born with and will have to learn to live with it. I am short waisted, too, but that means I have long legs. I'd rather have long legs than a long torso any day.

Hi Keesha,

This might sound silly, but my mom always told me to wear a belt directly where my waist "should be" and to wear a girdle to avoid this problem. I hope this helps!

Try Yoga. Some have reported adding 2 inches to their height with all the spine stretching. And if you don't grow, you'll feel too good to care about your short waist.

From what I've read, Bovine Colostrum is the only natural available (and legal! ) source of Human Growth Hormone (HGH). I don't exactly know if it would help anyone grow taller, unless their stunted growth was due to malnutrition (as can happen with conditions like Leaky Gut) or hormonal imbalances. Colostrum is good for helping to correct both of those things, but you have to take enough of it. The dose on the bottle is the MINIMUM dose you should take and many people need much more. It's not toxic. It is the "premilk" after the calf is born and before the normal milk comes in. What is the right dose? This can vary widely from person to person, even within the same height/weight requirements. The two things I base it on is if I see health improvements, and if there is a "herxheimer reaction" or "healing crisis, " then I know I've reached the right dosage.

Edit to my previous reply: Colostrum is NOT the only natural source of hgh. You can also try deer antler velvet.

Hi Ted, I tried this HGH like mix near bedtime a few weeks ago and it kept me up. Reading your words on a recent post that glutamine is like an excitotoxin I realize I shouldn't have taken it before sleep. So I guess I'll just take it time to time.

use following repeat with huge emotion all the time (whenever you remember) "I WILL NOW GROW TALLER EVERY NIGHT FROM TONIGHT!" and visualise that you are 1 feet taller do above and following also: take growth hormone precursors as directed in the bottle and some stretching exercise

DO ALL ABOVE FOR 6 MONTHS CONTINUASLY AFTER THAT PERIOD YOU SHOULD BE FEW INCHES OR MORE TALLER

LOOK FOR THESE SIGNS AFTER FEW DAYS OF FOLLOWING MY SUGGESTION: IF YOU DO AS I SAID YOU SHOULD FEEL MAGICAL TINGLING WITH EXCITEMENT SENSATION IN YOUR BODY. IF YOU GET THAT MESSAGE THEN THAT MEANS YOUR BONES ARE GROWING TALLER DON'T GIVE UP FOR 6 MONTHS FOR MORE HELP REPLY TO MY EMAIL'

When I was 30, I read that if you sleep while it is dark during the winter you will replenish your entire body and in spring you would be a 'new man (woman)'. So, since I lived near my job, for one entire winter I didn't turn on any lights. I went to sleep in the evening when it got dark and I would just fall asleep and I slept for approx. 11-12 hours and in the morning, I would awake at around 6am.

My legs started hurting and I couldn't figure out why, but later discovered I grew two inches.

Important backstory: When I was 13 I was in a car accident and the growth pad on my leg was split in half. I didn't grow from 13 to 18 when I grew one inch and then not again until 30.

My solution - sleep!

Hi Hannah,

This is so interesting to me! I'm wondering whether you noticed any other benefits to 'winter sleep' other than the height gain. Could you describe what, if any other effects it had? Thanks!

Ted's Remedies

Posted by Usman (Islamabad, Pakistan) on 12/11/2006

I have a question regarding short height. I know this might be a silly question but as it seems that everything is possible thru folk remedies. My height is 5'4" feet. My father's is 5'2" & mother's the same. Is there any folk remedy or from holistic medicine, other medicines etc. where height can be increased? and my age is 19."

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Dear Usman: I wouldn't think it is possible in a conventional sense to grow taller except getting a growth hormone injection, but I am not saying it is impossible.

In one case I was playing around with human growth hormone frequencies to my friend who at the time was 28 years old and looking for ways to help her skin condition and other things.

At the time I was also playing around with crystal bowl healing frequencies also, however, she grew two inches taller from playing those sound within a short span of a month or two. I do not know if it was the sound or was it a fluke, but all her friends were surprised she was taller. I being a skeptic asked her to confirm, and she was able to prove it with her skirt which normally reaches around below the knees and it went above.

In case you want to try something strange just go here, a sound frequencies that I contributed that you can play or download. Life is full of mysteries, and it may not work for you but if you want to try it, be my guest at: _________

If you are "into these" sound healing therapies, the secret seems to be the rough sounds where the waves are rectangular, square, or sawtooth seems to have a biological effect. In Japan, they are making a lot of money from Japanese woman who want larger breasts and there ARE many women who claimed to have bigger breasts from using the sound. They downloaded a "bigger breast ring tone" and whenever people call, the ringtone frequencies would stimulate the breast to be bigger. Finding how it was done is really not much, certain hormones do increase breast size, but it was a scientist, Dr. Alfred Partheil, who found a relationship between molecular weight and sound frequencies by the process of octave. So the theory is basically simple the molecular weight of hormones is in several octaves of the sound frequencies. These is just fringe medicine and I cannot say whether it works or not, but it makes for very interesting reading and fun, no doubt. However I cannot say with certain for lack of scientific evidence.

The other way to grow taller, perhaps, is to take secretagogues, which are simply certain supplements that causes the body to increase human growth hormones. It is well know that several amino acids such as arginine, ornithine, vitamin B3, glycine, and glutamine causes several fold increase in human growth hormone. For me I often take some glycine, niacinamide, and sometimes glutamine to keep up with NORMAL human growth hormone so that the blood sugar and immune system to remain normal. This is important since after the age of 30, the HGH often goes down and therefore it make sense for me to take some amin acid supplements to keep HGH within normal parameters. Besides, glycine also helps with sleep and it doesn't hurt to take B3 and some vitamin B complex now and then."

Yes, it will make you taller. However, there are also many things to consider with this. I think the biggest barrier you will face is the extensive cost of HGH and being able to convince a doctor to give it to you. I hope this helps.
