What Is Dengue Fever?

Common in tropical and subtropical regions of the world, Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne disease that ranges in severity. Mild dengue fever is characterized by fever, rash and joint or muscle pain. Severe dengue fever, however, can cause severe bleeding, a rapid drop in blood pressure and even death. This form is known as hemorrhagic fever. The prevalence of dengue fever is somewhat alarming at several million cases worldwide, particularly in Southeast Asia and the western Pacific islands, ranging from individuals experiencing no symptoms to those succumbing to the condition.

Symptoms of the fever typically occur between four to ten days after the individual is bitten by an infected mosquito and generally progress from mild to severe. The most common symptoms of the fever include high fever, headache, muscle, bone and joint pain and pain behind the eyes. Additional symptoms may include widespread rush, nausea and vomiting, minor bleeding from the gums or nose. Severe cases are characterized by progressive symptoms including profuse bleeding from the nose and mouth, abdominal pain, continuous vomiting, bleeding beneath the skin, and problems with the lungs, liver and heart.

Spread by mosquitoes, dengue fever is caused by any of the four dengue viruses. A mosquito bites an infected person and then carries the virus to another individual as it bites another individual. Contracting and recovering from dengue fever develops an individual’s immunity to the one strain with which he or she was infected.

Natural Cures for Dengue Fever

Dengue fever is characterized by a number of additional symptoms that can cause increased health concerns. Natural methods can be used to treat the fever itself as well as its symptoms. Barley grass helps maintain a healthy platelet count while goldenseal cures the virus. Ho nam peh lo and mangagaw are Chinese herbs that cure dengue and support platelet levels as well. Neem, papaya and sweet potato leaves also treat the condition and its symptoms.

I have lived in Thailand for several years and have used Goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis) when I caught dengue fever. It works immediately and avoids the days of serious fever, vomiting, etc.

I used it on a friend who had dengue. She had been diagnosed with dengue at the hospital who sent her back home with nothing. She was really ill, fatigued, with a high fever. So I gave her some Goldenseal I had. I didn't know if it would work at all. The next day, when I called, she was working!

One day, I myself caught dengue. I nearly didn't have time to make it home and there I lay in my bed, the whole room swirling around me. I was getting chills, hot spells. Felt really sick. I took a capsule of goldenseal. Two hours later, the fever had gone, and I was ok. Extremely tired, but ok. I took another capsule. And it was completely gone.

Some naturopathic physicians have since confirmed that goldenseal cures dengue.

A month ago I got hospitalized due to dengue fever. My platelet count went down to 15T and my hematocrit went up to 54. I was then in danger of bleeding or dengue shock. I was advised by my Chinese officemate to take HO NAM PEH IOH (a chinese medicine for anti-bleeding often used for emergency cases). I think the medicine really helped coz I never had any bleeding. But still I was given a platelet transfussion. I also drank the juice of the boiled mangagaw/gatasgatas shrub (this shrub is abundant here in the Philippines). This herb is known to cure dengue and helps increase the platelet count

Dengue Hemorrhagic fever. I have been using a homeopathic preparation: cinnamomum HA in ampoule form since 1998 given by IM or orally and it is very cost effective. No need for admission if DF is diagnosed earlier. Need only from 3 to 8 ampoules. If patient is in bad state just an IV drip in the clinic for 4 hours with homeopathic remedies in it, patient goes home well immediately. Tried many times to show to other physicians but they are very biased to alternative treatments. No complications noted since its use. so patient friendly.

I don't know how many live where they are affected by dengue. But I have had it three times. The first time wasn't that bad, the second time even though my platelets didn't drop to a critical level, my white cell did drop and wouldn't come back very fast, the doctors there prescribed an anti-viral and it it helped but recovery was slow. The third time I had read about neem doing research for incecticide I ran across something sayin it was effective against dengue. So I thought I would try it my platelets were dropping close to critical, I didn't know how to use it so I just had some leaves heated them in water, and let it steep. I sipped all thorough out the day, it tastes very bitter, anyway it seems to work better than flu remedies they give you for discomfort. The next day the blood test showed my platelets going back up, and white cells also. The following day after that the platelets made a huge jump of 60,000 in one day and the white cells also went up significantly. I don't know for sure if the neem worked, or if it was just coincidence. My recovery period total was 4 days, the previous time it was 12 days. Supposedely every time you get dengue it is worse than the one before. Since there is only three types of dengue so far in Nicaragua I shouldn't get it again. But I thought this remedy would be of interest to anyone in areas where it happens.

WARNING!

If you have Dengue: NEVER ALLOW ANYONE TO TREAT YOU WITH ANY ANTI-VIRAL MEDICATION.

Dengue is a Flavivirus THERE ARE NO ANTI-VIRAL MEDICATIONS THAT WORK FOR THESE VIRUSES. In fact if you are given those medications it will worsen your condition because your immune system will be WEAKENED by the medication and the virus will be unaffected therefore putting you at high risk for complications of the disease that would never have happened otherwise.

The reason you got more sick, longer recovery or in many cases death, is because of those retarded medical people who don't know their microbiology and think any virus can be treated with any anti-viral drug.

MD does NOT equal SMART! Most of them are just people who went to more school and learned very little of what they should have!!!

NEVER BLINDLY TRUST DOCTORS!!!

Research any treatment they suggest before agreeing to it...it can save your life!!! It saved mine when I had West Nile Fever...West Nile Virus is also a Flavivirus (many of my patients in the hospital were paralized or killed when treated with anti-viral medications when suffering from West Nile Fever) as a Registered Nurse I watched MDs mistreat and misdiagnose patients all the time...

When you work with MDs you see how many stupid mistakes they make...don't trust them, listen to their opinion and get educated about your condition THEN make your decision...take charge of your health, it is all you have.

Blessings and Aloha!!

Sweet Potato Leaves, Orange Juice

SOUP from Camote Tops (Sweet potatoes)- Best Cure for Dengue fever

Sweet potato leaves are boiled in water to extract the juice. The boiling lasts for about five minutes. A little salt is used to give flavor to it. The patient is made to drink slowly and gradually. The body's immunity system is thus revived, making dengue helpless against the body's natural defenses. Camote enables the body to heal itself.

or

Orange juice helps with digestion, increased urinary output, promotes antibodies for faster healing and recovery. It gives energy and vitamins, overall a great source for fighting dengue fevers!
