* Nutri-Vet Puppy-Vite (Nutritional Supplement Paste
* GOATS MILK! Puppy formula and real raw goats milk in bottles from the Amish market
* Activated Charcoal and Pepto Bismol
* Pet Natural Care "Kaopectate"
* Pedialyte of course!
Came home, pumped my puppies full of all that! They gobbled down the goat's milk and were immediately up playing within 2 minutes. The one puppy tired out pretty quick. But the other 2 are up roaming around. These dogs had not budged for 3 days! 3 whole days! And they are up playing! And running and drinking water!
Look me up on Facebook, send me a msg if you are in panic mode about your dog! I'll help explain everything I did! I just literally saved the rest of my litter! On a budget of $100.00! I'm seriously pissed I didn't know about these things before! I miss my best friends that passed! So I'm posting this in honor of them to save the life of a dog or puppy or litter!

My Roxii, is a 2 month old pit mix. I have lost a couple puppies due to this virus(and ignorance on my part). I learned a lot about what I was doing wrong by reading your post. I hope you can help as I have already fallen in love with her and really don't want to lose her. Roxii is still playful for the most part, she is showing signs of wearing down easier and ive today noticed a small amount of bloody fluid in her stool which is becoming less solid. I did vaccinate her 1wk ago because we generally just do. But I'm afraid I may have been too late or she already had the virus when she got here. Either way, I want to save her, in my experience it is a horrific way to go!!

List of things I needed:
1- Chart to record everything you're doing. I found that after 24 hrs of everything I was wiped and forgetting what to give him. Keeping a chart was so helpful!!
2 - 2 syringes (1 for Activated Charcoal (AC) solution, 1 for electrolyte solution) the pharmacy at Walmart told me they didn't sell them so they just gave them to me for free. (non needle!)
3 - 4 towels (our pup struggled with sleeping on hard surfaces so we always had a clean one ready to be rotated in when the last one got soiled.)
4 - Puppy pads for quick catch and clean up
5 - Bleach (to clean all surfaces and towels that get soiled on)
6- Colloidal silver with dropper
7 - Activated Charcoal Solution (If you're buying the capped AC I did 1 cup pedialyte, 1 cup purified water, 25 AC capsules opened and poured in solution. Shake before each use) Recipe: https://www.earthclinic.com/pets/parvo.html
8 - Arsenicum Album from Boiron (2 pellets dissolved in 5 ccs of purified water)
9 - Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth
10 - Lots of Electrolyte Solution and left in cage Recipe: https://www.earthclinic.com/pets/parvo.html
So last week Wed Dec 28th, 2017 our puppy went into SPCA to get its final visit (microchipping & nurturing). Due to scheduling conflicts I couldn't pick him up until the next day. I picked him up and he was erratic. He was super skinny and wanted me, until I picked him up to hold him and then he was clawing me to get down. It was very weird behavior for him. Fast forward to the following Tue Jan 3rd, 2017. He's been doing fine all day. He eats that morning. That night he throws up everything he'd had in his belly. He refuses to eat/drink anything that night. The next day he's back to normal. He's eating, drinking but super lethargic. All he wants to do is snuggle all day. Again, very abnormal behavior from a puppy. At this point we've had him for well over a month (foster then adopted from spca which is why we had to neuter/chip/vaxx up to date). He's 4 months old at this point. Thur he refuses any food. He refused water unless I forced it in with a dropper and he is literally throwing up every 20 mins with yellow mucus diarrhea. I know somethings up so I take him to the vet. Surprise! It's Parvo season!! The vet lets us know that it will cost $1700 for them to tend to him. Theres no cure for Parvo, they've got to ride out the virus. But they wanted to charge extra for different things while he's in there, even though he has a record of every vaccine he's had up to date. In the end we had to refuse them because we didn't have the money. I found this site, my saving grace, and this is the schedule that I came up with:
As soon as we got home from the vet he started bloody diarrhea. For the first hour I did the electrolyte solution. But he didn't hold anything down, and the diarrhea kept coming up so I did some research and found this site that boasted Activated Charcoal and colloidal silver!! I did 3 ccs of AC electrolyte solution every hour and the electrolyte solution in between the AC doses so that I could check up on him every 30 minutes. He stopped diarrhea and vomit instantly. After four hours of this routine, we went to every 2 hours of AC dose. In the hour between the AC dose I did 2-3 droppers of Colloidal Silver and Arsenicum Album. (The Arsenicum Album I took 5 ccs of purified water and syringed it into a small bowl. I put two of the AA pellets in and let it sit until it fully dissolved. Then I syringed it in him). I also did 1/2 tsp of Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth up to 1 tsp per day. Each time he got a dose of something he also got a dose of electrolyte solution. It was so important to me that he stay hydrated so I always did the skin test to make sure he was good and not once did my pup's skin stay up, good sign!! It took about 3 days for him to fully come around again. He started drinking water last night (Fri Jan 6th, 2017). I stopped giving him the Electrolyte solution when I found him drinking on his own. I tried to give it to him anyways just as a back up but he threw it up which told me he was getting enough. I switched to AC mix twice a day today as he was showing signs of getting better. He finally ate some food tonight at dinner time!! He refused scrambled eggs with rice, burger (raw, cooked and mixed with rice), chicken stock, and wet dog food. But he loved the Natural Balance duck treats so I mixed about three up with dry dog food and he started in on it instantly. He's relaxing and sleeping now. 30 min later and no throw up makes me feel like a success!! I don't know if this will help others, as every dog is different. But the specifics of dosing medications and when was the hardest part for us to conquer. That And seeing our poor pup declining so rapidly. So far we've made it. Good luck to anyone else going through this nightmare!
Multiple Remedies
I couldn't afford to have them hospitalized so I did the best I could at home. The vet gave me two medications Cerenia for nausea & vomiting and Metronidazole 250mg tablets to give oralily. Well I had to fight with them to get it down and they would through it up in minutes.
That's when I found this site with a lot of helpful informatio. I credit the people who took the time to post information that they learned through this heartache with saving one of my babies. I wish I found it sooner. I know my little one would still be here.
On Saturday 04/04/15 my dogs were dying. They hadn't been able to keep any medicine or fluids down. Rufus the smaller one passed away that night, early Sunday morning.
My two dogs weighed less then 10 lbs each & they couldn't keep anything down. I tried the charcoal & pedialite. They couldn't keep it down. I went to Tractor Supply and bought needles and 20ml syringes, I went to Walmart and bought a child enema, Saline solution, and more pedialite.
On Sunday 04/05/15 I put Baby-Girl in the tub of warm water gave her 1/2 of the enema took her outside to go. brought her back in and I gave her approximately 2oz of pedialite very very slowly in her rectum with the enema bottle. She did not expell any of that. I warmed up 1/2 cup of saline solution and filled three 20ml syringes with it. As per the directions a 10lb dog would get 50ml of saline solution subcutaneous. (just under the skin) I gave her 60mls. Every 4 hours I gave her fluids.
I than took one of the antibiotics and put it in an oral syringe put the plunger into it sucked up some warm pedialite waited about 10 min it was dissolved, I shook it up and gave that to her rectally, followed by a little more pedialite. (to push/flush it further into her body). I did give her antibiotics rectally every 8 hrs for the first day than every 12 hours for two days and now 1 pill every 24 hrs as directed till gone.
On Monday 04/06/15 She was much much better. She ate some food.
On Tuesday 04/07/15 She's almost back to her normal self
Today Wednesday 04/08/15 You wouldn't know she was sick at all. She is broken hearted as well. Rufus was her baby. She looks for her but I think she knows she's gone. BTW Rufus was a girl she would've been 1yr old on 04/11/15
I've never posted anything anywhere before I just had to. I know some oral medications can be taken rectally that's why I did that. I never found a definitive answer on the web. I just felt I was running out of time so I took a chance.
Never Use Ibuprofen
WARNING!
Sharon from California:
"Can I give my 9 week old Jack Russel baby, children's ibuprofen? I have the chewable ones. Her symptoms don't exactly match the parvo symptoms. She is lethargic and has slept several hours today. She wants to get up but shes showing neurological difficulties. Like she may be dizzy."
Hello Sharon,
DO NOT give your dog Ibuprofen - you will poison it. Please see your vet NOW for a proper diagnosis as to why you are seeing neurological symptoms in your puppy.

I'm using activated charcoal and I just made a pot of chicken broth using 3 whole carrots, ground up fennel seed, salt and a whole chicken. I'm happy for she just lapped up some of the broth that I placed in her dog crate. I was going out to buy a syringe but think I may not need it at the moment. I'm going to keep offering her the broth every hour and later offer her chicken. I just want to let those know that they say fennel seed has very good properties for the flu or flu/cold/covoid virus..also helps soothe upset stomach. I am surely happy that she is drinking, but she is not yet out of the woods. I think adding the ground fennel seed and the activated charcoal caps that I have on hand will cure her. I grind the fennel seeds in a coffee grinder.

We have a doberman 3 months old and received her Parvo shot. She was fine for about the first 6 hours then developed allergy like symptoms (swelling of eye lids and gums) Gave her an allergy tablet and she was fine by next morning.

Saline Solution

The whole thing cost about $30 including the gas to get around. It would have cost $300-$500 at the vet and the most effective thing the vet does is give your dog an IV of SALINE.

Hey Lucy!
You have replied to a post that has been inactive for 2 years, so I will offer some advice.
The amount you give varies by the results you obtain. In general:
Most dogs tolerate being given subcutaneous fluids. You can give about 10-20 ml per kg of body weight (5 -10 ml per pound) in one spot (e.g. 50 ml for a 10 pound dog) before you move to another location. It usually takes 6 to 8 hours for all the fluids to be absorbed. Check to see if the previously administered fluids have been absorbed before giving more fluids. Even though the fluids are given on the back, gravity will cause the fluids to accumulate on the belly, so check for residual fluids on the belly before you give more. Check with your veterinarian if the fluids are not being fully absorbed.

I have been giving my puppy 10 mL about every 45 minutes, how do you know it's working? He's still highly depressed and looks close to death and it's breaking my heart to see him suffering from parvo! Please tell me how I'll know, I don't want him to die! I'm giving him saline like you said to do and pepto with water and activated carbon with Gatorade and a little water; he's so sick and I don't know what else to do! Please help me.

Hey Lauren!
Are you injecting your dog with the saline solution? The advice for the saline was to administer it sub-Q - with a needle just under the skin, to help with deydration.
The other remedies - AC, pepto, gatorade - are to be dosed orally.
If this were my dog and no results yet I would increase the amount of saline administered sub-Q - 20cc's - this if I could not first visit a veterinarian.
