[YEA]  10/24/2008: Sara from Little Rock, AR: "After being on this site a few times, I decided to try out Apple Cider Vinegar. I took my concoction regularly for about a month, but I gave it up when I spent the summer abroad. I felt that it did help jump start my weight-loss, and I most definitely felt an increase in energy. However, I hate the taste of the stuff and upon returning home, found it incredibly difficult to force myself to drink it. My distaste for it also makes it so that my stomach aches for almost an hour after forcing myself to swallow.

So - here's my solution for those of you that can't bear the taste: bloody mary mix. If you like bloody mary mix, you'll never taste the difference. I drink about 1/2 ounce of bloody mary mix (I use an all-natural one I found at my local grocery store) with my 2 tablespoons of acv three times a day. I will warn people that bloody mary mix has quite a bit of sodium, so keep that in mind, if you are worried about your sodium intake.

[YEA]  10/05/2008: Miriam from Racine, USA: "I just though I would let your readers know that I just started the ACV remedy daily regiment to prevent migraines as I am weaning off my daily meds (that were causing hearing loss after 5 years on them!!). So far so good! I will say that w/o the honey, I couldn't pallette the taste, so I mixed it with La Croix (but any brand UNSWEETENED) Lime water. It is carbonated and tastes slightly sweet even though it has no artificial sweetners (a must for any migraine folks). For some reason it really cuts the "yuck" factor considerably!

Just a tip! Saved me and now I am working the cure!"

Today, I found the answer....Clamato Juice! for the first time I could pour almost 2 tablespoons in a glass and fill it up with the juice and down it went, no problem!"

I thought I'd pass on a smoothie recipe I use every morning to disquise the taste of vinegar and molasses and sneak in some other stuff I don't like the taste of. The end result is a easy, delicious breakfast.

Place in a blender:
2 Tblsp. ACV
2 Tblsp. Black Strap Molasses
2tsp vanilla
1 cup of any juice you have on hand (I like cranberry or apple)
2 frozen bananas
5/6 frozen strawberries
Soy milk to fill the blender.
Now here's where you can add if you like:
1/2 cup oatmeal (try it, you'll be suprised you can't tell it's in there)
-wheat germ
-bran
-calcium powder
or just about anything you like.
*if you live where Noni grows, this will even disquise that taste!

Blend on high until mixed.

This smoothie gives me a ton of energy, a smooth clear complexion and notable weight loss.

The first week I started drinking this, I was very tired with flu like symptoms but I kept it up as I believed my body was purging and healing. By the 2nd week, I felt like a new person.

And are you getting Pre Frozen bananas and strawberries or buying fresh and freezing? Also with you filling the blender full with soy milk, how many servings does this make?"

[YEA]  07/20/2008: Molly from Austin, Tx: "Ive tried everything to mask the taste of ACV, but nothing worked, but I was determined to find somethig, becuse I know there's so many benefits to drinkin it, So what I do is take 2 "shots" I just pour it into the lid and slam it with LOTS of water mixed with a tiny spoonful of baking soda to reduce the acidity, its quick and easy and wll be doing that from now on!!"

_____ Vinaigrette Health Dressing

1/2 cup _____ Apple Cider Vinegar

1/3 teaspoon _____ Liquid Aminos

2 teaspoons raw honey

1 to 2 cloves minced garlic

1/3 cup virgin olive oil

Whatever herbs you want - Italian seasoning, etc.

Blend or shake in jar. Keep refrigerated.

07/16/2008: Kathy from Atlantic County, New Jersey: "I've been giving my mother (who has diabetes 2) apple cider vinegar whenever she will agree to take it in hopes of lowering her blood sugar. When she does take it her sugar readings go down (sorry, but I don't have the exact numbers.) The only problem is she hates the taste of it so much it's hard to get her to drink it!! I've come up with a much better tasting recipe; I put about 5 drops of the liquid stevia (might need to try a few different brands - I hate to say it, but the more expensive brands do taste better) in with 2 T. of the vinegar & about 6 - 8 ounces of water & a couple of ice cubes. She doesn't love it (I do!) but she can handle it much better. Cheers!"


07/15/2008: Lana from Somewhere, Israel: "I have overcome the problem of not liking the tasts of my ACV/baking soda combination by adding as many drops of Tabasco sauce as I can take. (That little bottle lasts a surprisingly long time...) I think that also takes care of my cayenne pepper requirements. Could someone either confirm or deny that Tabasco sauce is the same as cayenne? Cayenne pepper is a red pepper of a similar variety to the red chilis used to make Tobasco, but the tobasco pepper it's own creature. They have about the same hotness- cayenne may be a hair hotter -and this means they probably have the same level of capsaicin... the element in peppers that create the heat, produce a "chili high" and make a potent pain killer."

06/24/2008: Maureen from Portland, Maine: "I came across this fresh salad dressing recipe in a health magazine and it is to DIE for! I use it in salads, pasta...dip bread in it! It is GOOD and healthy!

Maple Vinaigrette Dressing

Ingredients:

* 1 teaspoon dry mustard (I have substituted actual mustard before & it was good)
* 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
* 1/4 cup balsamic or good quality wine, cider or maple vinegar (We use Apple Cider Vinegar)
* 1/2 cup Pure Maple Syrup
* 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
* 1 clove garlic, minced
* 1 cup olive oil
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper

Preparation:
Combine mustard and basil in a small bowl. With a whisk, add vinegar, maple syrup, lemon juice and garlic. Add olive oil and continue whisking until ingredients are well combined. Season with sea salt and pepper. Refrigerated, the dressing will keep for several weeks.

This recipe made both products more palatable for me:
2tbsp ACV
2tbsp BSM

Mix in a tall glass until the BSM is dissolved. Add a full can of club soda or mineral water - be careful, it really fizzes. Stir lightly, add ice if desired, and enjoy. Sorta sweet, sorta tangy, nicely fizzy, dark brown. It's a taste that grows on you, sort of like Coke does."

About a week ago, I stumbled upon organic blackstrap molasses in the supermarket. I instinctively picked up the bottle and said, "I want to swallow this whole thing." I guess my body was asking for it.. Anyway, that's what prompted me to look into it here on earthclinic. When I saw all that it was good for... wow. So back to your recipe. I've always had a major craving for Coke.. like sometimes I could drink a 2 liter over the course of a day. So needless to say, your recipe caught my attention! I more or less cut your recipe in half. I used 1 tbsp bsm, 1 tbsp acv, and maybe a half a mug (or a little more) of club soda.. and I just LOVE it! I have plenty of Coke in the fridge, but I cant even bring myself to drink it now. I make this concoction for myself twice a day, and somehow it satisfies whatever it was that used to make me reach for the Coke. Sooo funny! I wasn't trying to stop drinking Coke, but its nice to have a healthy, satisfying replacement. Thank you so much for sharing!!"

And I actually think it tastes pretty good... 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar 1/2 tspn of cayenne pepper 1/2 lemon juice 2 tspns of maple syrup I was not actually expecting to find this today or this website... while I couldn't go to school today from horrible heartburn and this remedy actually helps if you ever get heartburn!"

3 TB Apple Cider Vinegar
3 TB lime juice, fresh squeezed if possible
2 TB honey sprinkle of cinnamon

Boil 8 oz of water, and add the ingredients. Stir until honey is dissolved.
It tastes like a christmas wassail recipe that my family makes, but much healthier. Even my cousins who hate the vinegar loved it when they added a little more honey to make a sweet drink."


[YEA]  02/09/2008: Decolia from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma: "The best way that I've found to drink ACV is like this.. boil water like you're making tea, to your cup add 2 Tablespoons ACV 1 Tablespoon Lemon juice and add honey to taste. It works great for a sore throat and helped treat my strep throat as a kid. I just love the stuff! I've begun drinking it again recently and haven't felt this good in ages! I'm also overweight and have PCOS, so I'm excited to see if there are any benefits there as well. I hope you enjoy this mix, it seems to make it a bit more appetizing. Enjoy!"
