Apple cider vinegar is an effective natural cure for arthritis. Dozens of our readers have reported success using this inexpensive and simple home remedy. ACV can be taken hot or cold any time of day.
How to Take Apple Cider Vinegar for Arthritis
A typical arthritis tonic would be one tablespoon of raw, organic apple cider vinegar in 8 ounces of water once or twice day.
There are endless variations to this tonic, though. Some find they need as little as one teaspoon in a glass of water once or twice a day. On the other hand, some take even more than a total of 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar each day.
If the vinegar taste is too strong or too sour, honey can be added to the mix. (Diabetics should keep an eye on their sugar levels, though.) 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda can also be added to the apple cider vinegar and water mixture. This will cut the acidic taste quite a bit.
A tasty way to take the apple cider vinegar in the winter is the following:
- 1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 Tablespoon honey
- 6 ounces boiling water
- pinch of cinnamon
- Mix together in a mug and enjoy a warm and tasty mug of healing.
Oftentimes, uses of the vinegar tonic for arthritis find that other health problems resolve as well. Apple cider vinegar has helped many people with a variety of ills, including digestive problems, constipation, and acne.
Apple Cider Vinegar as a Topical Arthritis Treatment
While less common than the internal treatment, apple cider vinegar can also be used topically for arthritis and joint pain. Either straight vinegar or 1/2 water and 1/2 vinegar can be poured onto a clean white cloth and applied to a particularly painful joint. Wrap the cloth with some plastic and secure with an ace bandage. This can be done for several hours or overnight.
For painful joints, a spray of apple cider vinegar and water (equal parts) can be made and sprayed onto the affected areas several times a day, or whenever you remember to do it!
