Castor oil is a gentle but highly effective natural treatment for hemorrhoids that often brings relief after the first application. Castor oil works quickly and painlessly for hemorrhoids.
Castor oil is made from the seeds of the castor oil plant and has been used over the centuries to treat a multitude of conditions both externally and internally. Castor oil is easily obtained in health food stores, pharmacies, large grocery stores and online.
Our readers have used several different methods for applying the castor oil to their hemorrhoids.
Fold a square of toilet tissue in half and then fold it in half again. Put a few drops of castor oil onto the toilet tissue and apply to the hemorrhoid. After each visit to the rest room, change the toilet tissue. (Make sure that you are clean before applying the toilet tissue!)
A cotton ball or round make up pad will work as well as the toilet tissue method, but these products are not meant to be flushed, thus the toilet tissue method may be the most convenient.
An old, clean t-shirt can be cut up in to small squares and used for your castor oil treatment. This may be the most comfortable medium for the castor oil as old t-shirts are so soft. But again, these cannot be flushed!
The castor oil treatment may be easiest to use and most comfortable overnight. Our readers often find at least some relief after the very first application!

Castor Oil Treatment Warnings
Castor oil is quite greasy. If it gets onto your clothing it may leave permanent grease stains. Keep this in mind when using this treatment. If you are concerned about this risk, consider using a sanitary pad to protect your clothing, at least during the day.
Castor oil is used internally as a laxative. If you are overly generous with the amount of castor oil you apply to your hemorrhoids, the body will absorb the castor oil and it may have a laxative effect on you.
