Earth Clinic’s most popular natural remedy for conjunctivitis (pink eye) is apple cider vinegar. Dozens of our readers have reported this cure. Most have been surprised at how quickly this treatment works!
How to Use Apple Cider Vinegar for Conjunctivitis
You must use a very diluted solution of apple cider vinegar and water. Add just 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to 1 cup of water. Use a cotton ball to apply the mixture to your closed eye (some will get in to the eye and that is fine) three times a day. Always use a fresh cotton ball for each eye, and a fresh cotton balls for each treatment. Both eyes should be treated, even if only one appears infected.
Ideally, used distilled or filtered water and raw and organic apple cider vinegar. Raw vinegar has “the mother,” which makes the vinegar cloudy in appearance. There will also be a stringy substance (the mother) in the vinegar. This usually settles to the bottom of the bottle. Just don’t shake the bottle of vinegar before you pour out your teaspoon worth to add to the water.
Most people find that this treatment stings some when you apply it but that the discomfort does not last long.
Usually the infection clears up in a day or two with this treatment. However, even once you are symptom free, continue the treatment for a couple more days to make sure the infection does not return.
