Beautiful, smooth skin often seems like an out-of-reach attainment; however, it doesn?t have to. A number of natural beauty treatments offer promising results as far as refining the appearance of your skin. One of our favorites is baking soda (also known as sodium bicarbonate outside the USA) – a product that can be used in a variety of different ways to help you achieve all of your beautiful skin goals.
Improving Skin’s Appearance
The goal of improving the appearance of the skin typically centers on a few different factors. Smoothing the skin, reducing the appearance of pores, and eliminating any discolorations or other skin issues are three of the most important factors. Baking soda can help you get all of these results and more.
How to Use Baking Soda for Beautiful Skin
Like many other natural treatment products, baking soda can be used in several different ways to treat the skin. We’ve included a list of our favorite uses below.
1. Face Wash
Your face wash doesn’t have to be some elaborate concoction. Simply mix together 2 teaspoons of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of warm water to form a paste. Rinse your face with water and rub the mixture in circular motions over your face to gently cleanse the skin.
2. Exfoliator
The fine grainy texture of baking soda makes it a perfect exfoliator. Use the baking soda on its own or add a teaspoon to your favorite cream cleanser and gently scrub your face for smooth, flawless skin.
3. Detox Mask
Baking soda also helps to draw toxins out of the skin. Create a paste of the baking soda using 2 teaspoons of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of warm water. Smooth the mixture on your face and let it dry completely. Rinse and pat dry. You can even use this combination as a detox bath by upping the baking soda to 1-2 cups and adding 2 cups of Epsom salt.
4. Lightening Mask
Pair enough lemon juice with 2 teaspoons of baking soda and a splash of warm water to create a thin paste. Smooth the mixture onto your face and let it dry completely. Rinse and pat dry to reveal brighter skin with fewer dark spots.
5. Blackhead Remover
Again just mix water and baking soda to make a paste. Gently massage the mixture into your skin focusing on your T-zone. Let the paste soak for at least a minute and rinse to remove those pesky blackheads and any dirt on or in the skin.
Whether your skin is acne prone or relatively issue free, you will see a difference when you begin using baking soda.
