5 Natural Remedies to Help Shrink Wrinkles

Updated: December 7th, 2018 by Deirdre Layne // 104 Comments

You look in the mirror, and what is staring you back in the face but a beautiful smile and bright eyes. Oh wait, we are all our own worst critics, so likely what you’re seeing when you look in the mirror are those fine lines around your mouth that situated themselves there after years of smiling and laughing with family and friends. You might also be noticing some slight wrinkles or lines around your eyes too…

While these “conditions” were once considered the result of a life well-lived, today lines and wrinkles are often seen as the result of ineffective beauty care. With an established focus on perfection, many individuals are turning to Botox to treat these conditions. If you aren’t interested in taking such drastic measures as injecting poison into your face, but you are looking to limit a few of those expression lines, try one of our five natural cures for wrinkles that don’t involve Botox. Just whatever you do, don’t stop expressing yourself (even if your wrinkle-free skin says otherwise).

5 Natural Wrinkle Remedies

While we’d love to diminish lines and wrinkles as much as the next person, we aren’t willing to do so in such a way that will actually cause the rest of our body to age prematurely. To avoid putting additional toxins in our bodies but to achieve the same wrinkle-free faces, we’ve researched and come up with five natural remedies that offer the same results as more invasive treatments.

1. Acupressure

We all know that acupressure offers restorative benefits, and the same holds true when the treatment is applied to your face. This treatment involves massaging the specific acupressure points on your face that are specifically connected to different areas of your skin. Using tiny, circular motions around the face and scalp combined with light but steady pressure, you can reduce the appearance of wrinkles in your skin for at least a limited period of time. This option also relieves stress, so you’ll prevent additional wrinkles by relieving anxiety and tension in your body, and you don’t even have to face a needle to do so.

2. Micro-Muscle Tightening

We all know that regular exercise tightens and tones the muscles in the rest of our bodies, so why not apply the same concept to our faces? While we’re not suggesting a regimen of stringent blinking or mouth movements, we have researched the beneficial effects of sound wave therapy. Many different battery-operated devices are available that emit sound waves applied directly to the skin and cause tiny muscle spasms to tighten and tone the skin. A regular “facial exercise session” sounds better than an appointment with a surgeon, doesn’t it?

3. Lifestyle Changes

As much as we know “you are what you eat,” it is also important to remember that the same applies for anything that you do. To prevent premature aging and reduce wrinkle-causing stress, limit sun exposure, avoid excessive alcohol consumption, and limit exposure to cigarettes and secondhand smoke.

4. Flax Seed Oil

A number of natural supplements offer beneficial results for the skin, but flax seed oil appears to be the most potent. You’ll want to work your way up to a regular dosage of 1 tablespoon of oil up to 4 times a day. You’ll notice diminished forehead wrinkles first and experience a number of tightening effects in the skin.

5. Water

No, washing your face with water isn’t an effective anti-wrinkle treatment; however, drinking plenty of it is. As the body is over 50% water, it goes without saying that enough water in the system supports good health. This option has the additional benefit of adding moisture, elasticity, and brilliancy to the skin and the rest of the body.

Whether you’ve experimented with more invasive treatment options or not, we suggest you try one of these 5 natural remedies.  Let us know if you have another fabulous remedy that our readers might like to try to diminish wrinkles!

  1. Hyaluronic Acid + MSM

For wrinkles, I take two supplements, hyaluronic acid and msm at the same time twice a day with a meal, morning and dinner. Swollen bags under my eyes are diminished and my skin looks healthy, glowing, esp after exercising. Highly recommend. Start slowly because MSM can cause side effects. Namaste.

OK ladies – I have always had dry skin and decided early on to not use any drying skin preps and just use oil. Because Emu Oil has properties that allow it to move into the derma of the skin and beyond, I chose this one. I also decided early on that the 'gunky' face masks and 'make-up' used daily by most women, was like wearing a mask and made me uncomfortable, so cut these out altogether and just used Emu Oil. The oil soaked in and I was left with a nicely moisturised skin. Now in my old age, I'm consistently told I don't look my age and asked, what is my secret? I'm told I look 15 years younger than my counterparts and I have saved many hours and lots of money buying and applying, expensive, overpriced, face creams that do nothing but clog up my skin! Best ever!!!!

    Wrinkle Remedies

Here are a few which are tried and true. However, I would always be careful with these as I am not a Dermatologist and everyone has different skin types, allergies … Etc… Vitamin C Vitamin E Salystic Acid Retinol Vitamin B3 Vitamin B5 Acai Geranium Purified Squalane And Sunscreen, Sunscreen & More Sunscreen… The higher the SPF, the better off you'll be. If you must get your sun on. Always protect your face and chest. You'll be thankful that you did the older you get. Retinol can be very very harsh too. It is best to have it prescribed if you have a lot of premature aging, as a licensed Dermatologist can help you with this and tell you what is best for your skin type.

With everything else in mind… A healthy diet full of leafy greens, exercise, Lots of water throughout the day, Green Tea and the sunscreen that I had mentioned multiple times above, along with a good nights sleep is going to definitely be your best friend when it comes to all of these things for the long haul. If you can can start this early enough in life and stick with it, you would not even need all of the ingredients listed above later on. Nothing more than just a mild cleanser and moisturizer to fit your skins needs. Such as Cetaphil, or any other mild non scented wash and moisturizer that is not filled with a lot of harsh chemicals and fragrances. I have seen recipes to where you can even make your own. I personally like Renova. I am older though and it's prescribed through my Dermatologist. If I were younger, I would have definitely lived my life like the suggestions that I had given above. I need more help than that due to the fact that I have a lot of sun damage since nobody realized just how terrible that too much sun could be for you when I was younger.

    Good Luck!!!

  4. Castor Oil

Patience is the key. I use castor oil cold pressed and dab small quantities around my face. Also drink raw juices like carrot, grapefruit, pear etc. raw juices are great for your body organic of course. I like mainly Frankincense oil, a little pricey but very good. For my eyes I alternate castor oil or almond oil, though I use almond to clean my eye make up as needed.

I've been using both regular cold pressed castor oil, and Jamaican black castor oil around my eyes, laugh lines, and between my brows on the dreaded 11s every night after washing my face. The first thing I noticed upon waking in the morning was the skin under my eyes felt tighter and the small creases that were beginning to form have completely disappeared.

I also apply my own homemade Hyaluronic Acid, Liposomal Vitamin C, Argon Oil, Aloe Oil serum during the day before applying my make up. Every few weeks I switch my skin care regimen by using a homemade Black Rice Hyaluronic Acid and Liposomal Vitamin C serum.

My skin looks and feels great. I'm 49 this year and everyone guesses my age to be 32.

Every few months I do acupuncture facelifts on myself once a week for 4 weeks. I typically do the 11s and the laugh line areas to keep the wrinkles from showing up but I haven't done this in about 6 months, so I plan to again soon. You know, just as a preventative measure:)

My suggestion is to never use a drug store castor oil. Spend the extra few bucks on a good cold pressed organic castor oil from a reputable company. I'm not sure I can tell the difference between the black and the regular castor oil, so I don't really have a favorite at this point.

Just FYI: I wash my face with my homemade dry oat facial wash. I also use my homemade Japanese rice and powdered milk facial scrub. It keeps my skin super smooth, the skin tone very even, and I don't get as oily as I use to. I do this once a week. You don't want to scrub on a daily basis.

If you get brown spots on your face (or wherever), mix equal parts castor oil and baking soda together until it turns into a paste. If it's too drippy, add a little more baking soda and mix again. Apply it to the spot and massage in for a few seconds with the tip of your finger. Once you've done that, dab another bit onto the spot, cover it with a band aid and leave it on over night. It might take a few nights of this, but the spot will disappear.

My word of advice is to NEVER EVER us store bought cleansers or moisturizers. The chemicals are not only harmful, but they can actually age your skin. They may smell good and feel nice going on, but the damage they cause over time is certainly not worth it. Besides, not only are you doing your skin a world of good by using natural ingredients, but you'll be saving yourself a ton of money. I love making my own products and knowing what's really going on (and in) my skin.

Don't forget to use a natural broad spectrum sun screen every day, rain or shine.

      I hope this helps.

  5. Dry Brushing, Borax

For wrinkles I got this method from a lady in France many many years ago.

Excellent for smoothing out wrinkles: ***Ninon E'nclos** Looked extremely young for her 85 years! Her method:

Daily friction of the skin with a natural goat hair brush. (Hard to find)

Face and neck removing wrinkles is to rub the face and neck with the palm of your hands with a rough mitten (goat skin), rough terry cloth, or other natural hair brush. Then follow with a tepid bath mixed with borax. You can use Mink Oil.

I started doing this just a few days ago. Recently I had to take the bus and the driver quoted me the price which was too much for regular passengers. I said, but I'm a senior?

He looked at me very hard. I thought oh that's just an accident. A little while later I had to transfer to another bus and that driver did the same thing. I thought maybe that rubbing really works! I will keep doing it and let you all know how its working. Good luck to you all.

  6. Anti-Wrinkle Cure
    Georgina from Ireland
    August 6, 2014 at 6:38 pm

I have been working as a beauty writer for years and have come up with my own wonder treatment. Firstly, cover your face with olive oil and begin to scrape it using something like an old credit card ( I use the edge of a cd , as it gives the best scrape). Scrape with medium pressure for about three minutes until face turns pink… Gentle around the eyes. Rinse the oil off and then your skin is prepped for stage two.

    Stage two:

The wonder potion comprises of mostly fresh carrot juice. Retinol, the wrinkle fighting element in all the expensive face creams, is actually vitamin A, which is to be found in carrots. The fancy cosmetic creams you buy in the store are packed with preservatives and chemicals and have been sitting on the shelves for years. The carrot juice is much more potent because it is fresh. Add vitamin c by squeezing half an orange and adding it to the mixture. You can add a Rubex tablet instead if you want a super result. Lastly, add a generous dollop of rapeseed oil… Packed with vitamin e. Freeze ingredients in an ice cube tray and use them a portion a a time. The fresher, the better.

I would love to hear what you think of this… It's made my wrinkles vanish. I am 45 and most people think I am about 32… Not bad. Good luck. X

So nice to hear back from you OM. This was too good not to share. A few years ago I gave my sister a gift of an outrageously expensive anti-ageing cream. The minute she put it on her skin it became very irritated and she had a massive asthma attack. It convinced me that they are not worth the money and could be potentially best. If you harness your body's natural healing ability and add in natural power packed ingredients – they results are astonishing. Give me feedback – I'd love to know how you get on. Love from Ireland.x

      Hi Georgina,

Could you tell me how often you do this? And do you focus on just the areas of your skin that have/had wrinkles or do you do your whole face? Is this a daily treatment?

I just recently developed some smile lines that I never had previously (I'm 46). I thought I was immune to wrinkles, though I believe using a tanning bed 3 times a week doesn't help, but so feel the need for the vitamin D in the winter here in Illinois.

Would love a little more info, and if you think it would work for smile lines. Thanks! Tommy

      Hi Georgina,

There's just one thing misleading about using carrot juice topically. Carrots have provitamin A carotenoids, which becomes vitamin A through digestion, not topically. Provitamin A is legally allowed to be labeled as vitamin A because it eventually will become vitamin A once consumed, (key word consumed). Your skin can however absorb true vitamin A, aka retinol, which has been derived from animals (vit A is made in the body, therefore you can distract it from an animal that eats food containing *Pro-vitamin A) but I advise against this because there are many health concerns. So, you must be seeing results from the Vit. C and Vit. E, not from the carrot juice since provitamin A carotenoids don't become vitamin A except through digestion.

I would be careful doing this as I used organic freshly juiced beet juice for natural blush and developed rosacea for the first time in my life. It was the ONLY thing I did different before the rosacea started. (I have been gluten free and high raw vegan and all organic for 15 years and use just coco oil on my face for that time as well – so I really don't think it came from other lifestyle triggers.)

Anyway, after putting organic beet juice on my face I developed what I thought was a rash, but has yet to go away… it's been 6 months now!! 🙁 All that being said, people have always thought I am at least 10 years younger than my age… ladies, there are many other ways to look younger without risking putting certain unknown food bacteria (I am guessing that is what was in the beet juice?) on our faces. I think some food ingredients are perfectly fine to use… but perhaps steer clear of root vegetables that could be bathed with different bacteria, microbial pathogens, and perhaps parasitic eggs or actual parasites

I am your age and after a lot of research, I recently tried dry-brushing the skin on my face with a natural bristle brush. You brush section by section, first horizontally, then vertically, then diagonally.

I know that it seems counterintuitive to brush the skin on your face, since we’ve always been told to be gentle with that skin, but the dry-brushing has helped to soften fine lines by plumping the skin (stimulates collagen/cell turnover) and it gives a nice glow. I follow it with a hyaluronic acid serum, then a moisturizer on top of that.

If you go to YouTube and put ‘dry brushing face’ in the search box, you’ll find some tutorials and additional information. I’ve also found face exercises beneficial. YouTube is a good source for tutorials on those, too.

I am very pleased so far, and am looking forward to increased results with time because I just recently started. With both the brushing and the exercises, diligence is key. I read that it takes 6-8 weeks to see significant improvement, but I’ve seen improvement already and it’s only been about 2 weeks.

For moisture, I know that many here suggest coconut oil, jojoba oil, etc. but I haven’t found them to be all that effective on my skin. I have tried many natural oils but always end up returning to a non-natural moisturizer.

I’ve found that ghee works well for both moisturizing and for plumping up fine lines. I make my own; it’s so easy and inexpensive.

I use it in the evening, so that I don’t walk around smelling like a croissant all day. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that.) 🙂

I also take a teaspoon of ghee by mouth every day. I use it as a carrier for my turmeric/black pepper/ginger mixture.

I put about a teaspoon of the dry mixture on a soup spoon, then add a teaspoon of ghee and mix it right on the spoon. Then, down the hatch with a water chaser. Good stuff!

I'm also your age, and I'm here to tell you that there are many wonderful natural products that will truly help your skin and appearance. And techniques. Here is what I use.

      1) hyaluronic acid, both as a supplement at night, and as a serum on the skin. Hyaluronic acid serums can be found at large online retailers for an inexpensive cost.

      2) Facial smoothies, thin paper or rubbery strips that stick to your skin. I apply hyaluronic acid, sometimes add a drop of castor oil to the acid, smooth over my face, and apply the smoothies. When I awake in the morning, my wrinkles are gone (though they come back by the end of the day … sigh).

      3) Castor oil helps grow your brows back to thickness and helps grow eyelashes. Soothes the skin above the eyes and helps one to sleep. Always use pure grade unrefined castor oil! You can find this at your health food store.

      4) Using a derma roller, a device with sharp little pinpoints, the proper way, has helped reduce deeper laugh lines. If you order one of these, use it correctly: once a week, no more than four or five swipes, and no more than ten treatments total before resting the face. You can read lots of testimonials about this device at our largest online retailer which begins with an A.

      5) Facial exercises really do work! To make it easy, I ordered one of those products that you put in your mouth and use squeeze it back and forth using a puckering motion with your mouth. Also research facial exercises on youtube for more ideas.

      6) Diamataceous earth. You MUST be sure to buy the food grade DE! This wonder food is pretty much pure silica. Since taking a tablespoon a day in water, I have seen my skin plump from increased collagen. My hair around my temples is growing madly. And I have nails as hard as diamonds. A true wonder (and cheap! ) supplement for beauty and health. Research on the web and read the dozens of amazing testimonials from people.

      7) Liposomal vitamin C, which I make at home. Research how to make it. It's easy, inexpensive, and as good as getting vitamin C injections. It is wonderful for the skin, as it helps produce collagen, and is also great for everything else.

      8) The Five Rites. This is a simple exercise program that is said to be the true "fountain of youth."

These are the things I try to do every day, and I am told I look like I'm twenty years younger. Keeping a young heart is important, as is being truly feminine. How to do this? Breathe deeply. Relax. Use your hips when walking, and keep your heart open to the world. Last but not least, smile! All of these little things help you to feel younger.

In response to Mary (Rusk, Texas, Usa) on 02/25/2014: "I am a 55 yr old woman. Seeking wrinkle and skin corrective natural resources."

      —————-

      6/12/2016, a Sunday Afternoon.

      Male, 44 years old.

      Not a Doctor.

Consult with your Physician or Expert before trying the information for educational purposes, below.

How to soften and eliminate the appearance of deep wrinkles within 5 – 8 week's time, after your favorite exfoliation (scrubbing) and cleaning of your face, every day and night, weekly and during the Holidays:

(Tip: The best exfoliation is to use a cotton cloth with your favorite facial exfoliation product, with warm water.)

      1. Apply Retinol cream (ROC) or equivalent Retinol product on the deep wrinkles, let it dry for 10 minutes (CVS, Walgreens, or Walmart). Day and Night.

      2. Apply a lite coat of Cold Pressed Organic Coconut Oil (CVS or Walgreens), let it dry for 10 minutes. Day and Night.

      3. Do forehead exercises by raising your eyebrows, morning and night, 100 repetitions each set. No need to put resistance on your eyebrows or forehead. HOLD the last one for 30 seconds then release. Day and Night.

      4. Do cheek bone exercises left and right by puckering your lips and shifting your puckered lips left and right, 100 repetitions for the left and right side. HOLD the last one for each sides for 30 seconds then release. Day and Night.

      5. At night: Buy clear sports tape and tear it to tape your wrinkles flat before bedtime. When you sleep, your worries make your forehead frown automatically. You can total minimize this by tapping your frown lines flat when you sleep at night with sports tape (CVS or Walgreens). Make sure you take it off and apply a lite coconut oil to take out the glue from the tape from your skin, after. YOU don't want to get embarrassed and explain to your co-workers what you are trying to do when they see you with tape on your face! Night.

      6. In the morning: Pinch your wrinkles OUT (not IN where you crease them) and hold it for 20 seconds. Doing this will train your skin to form thicker collagen in the trenches where your wrinkles have formed over the years, to fill and eliminate the form of deep creases. Day.

      7. Supplement your diet with Hyaluronic Acid pills or drink gelatin with water to aid the formation of collagen creation for your efforts on your skin (Costco, Supermarket, Winco). Everyday if you can afford it, or Every Other Day.

      8. Weekly, put 1 packet of gelatin in a shot glass and mix it with a teaspoon of Hydrogen Peroxide, microwave the mix for 15 regular seconds. Let it cool enough to apply on your face (sport tape or put coconut oil on your eyebrows to prevent peeling hair out, better with coconut oil), use this as a mask better than Biore by 500 times by letting it dry on your face for about 30 minutes, then pull off from your face. The peroxide will lighten your skin. The gelatin will dry to pull your blackheads out from your whole face! Weekly. Do your daily repertoire above as normal after.

      9. (VERY OPTIONAL) Monthly peeling: Add four crushed aspirin to your gelatin mask mix above. (WARNING: This burns your face! The Acetic acid from the aspirin is Industrial Strength not found from your best Skin Care Products! You might want to go 1 crushed aspirin at first but 4 seem to be the burn I was able to tolerate enough to peel the top layer off my facial skin! ) This process will dry lightly burn the top layer of your skin on your face. You will see the scabbing of your top dermis of your face in about 2 days using this mix. YOUR FACE WILL START TO PEEL after. (Applying coconut oil will relieve the burn tingling sensations during healing.) YOU SHOULD ONLY DO THIS IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO INTERACT WITH OTHER PEOPLE YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WITH. (THIS IS EQUIVALENT TO LASER or DERMAL NEEDLE TREATMENT). Monthly

      10. Run everyday, even if you just run for a little bit just to get a sloppy sweat going. This will take the fat off your face when you sweat and will re-contour you face in-lieu of your facial exercises. Daily. Consult with your Doctor if you are healthy enough to run.

      11. Optional: Use Apple Cider Vinegar and Water mix, 1 to 1, as a daily toner. This effort will tighten you skin with your new contoured face.

DO ALL OF THE ABOVE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

THE INFORMATION HEREWITH IS FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY.

At your age, you have unconsciously formed your wrinkles over the years. You cannot expect to get rid of years of wrinkles from your face overnight or within weeks with any products or exercises, home made or from the Doctor's office. It will take the reverse exercises or Professional treatments to counter your deep wrinkles but it can be done if you are disciplined enough to know that it will take efforts to do so, sometimes painfully so.

-C, Successfully diminished the appearance of my deep frown lines formed by years of marriage and from worrying too much. 🙂

I have started using organic argan oil on my face and neck about six months ago and let me say, I just love it!! The oil smoothes out wrinkles, evens skin tone and it leaves skin feeling super soft and supple as opposed to greasy like lotion does. I use it in the morning and nightly after washing my face.

For the past 2 months, I've been using a pump of pure argan oil along with a pump of pure rosehip oil 2x a day on my face and neck and I can't believe how the wrinkles seem to have vanished–it's crazy! My neck even feels tighter! I know there's a high combo of vitamin E and EFAs in the oils–I'm assuming that's what's responsible for the magic! There are lots of brands you can pick up from any healthfood store– any pure oil brand will work, just make sure they aren't diluted with other oils. By the way, I'm in my 40's and people think I'm in my early 30's!

Hi Vanessa, I tried to use rosehip oil and very quickly in couple of days I got a few zits n breakouts on my face, I know how good this oil is, I don't want to give it up, especially I want to mix it with my argan oil to fight the wrinkles, do u think the breakouts are just the initial reaction and will stop soon. I am now only using the rosehip around my eyes for the wrinkles, but I do love to use it on my face. I have combination skin and quite acne prone, but after using OCM, I didn't have any breakouts until I tried the rosehip, please advise, thanks a lot.

I have observed that beneficial oils like coconut and others have the ability to quickly bring “things” to a head. Like they are cleansing pores, and that it’s common to notice breakouts within the first few days.

I have always cautioned my teens to apply the coconut oil to a blemish on like a Thursday if they want it gone by Monday, since it will quickly look worse before it’s better.

So I would be interested to know if the breakout worsens with continued use.

A warning about hydrogen peroxide on the skin, especially the delicate skin around the eyes: hydrogen peroxide thins the skin and is a bleaching agent. For a period of several months, I used peroxide on my face to clean it and to reduce wrinkles. The result was that the area around my eyes became severely affected with melasma. Basically the skin had thinned so drastically that it was super affected (damaged) by the sun. Luckily I had a great facialist step in to do damage control through the use of gentle peels to bring up the deep damage over a period of about a year. She was SHOCKED when she heard that I had used peroxide on my face. Peroxide is great for the teeth and cleaning cuts but please think twice about damaging your face with it. I'm pretty sure I would have less lines if I had never used it.

I have been taking Diatomaceous Earth ( Food Grade ) which contains silica. Silica is great for the skin, hair, connective tissues.

My skin has looked great since I have taken this. Each morning you put DE into a glass of water or juice and drink it. It cleans your intestinal out too. My nails have never looked so good. I get compliments on my skin all the time. Women 20 years younger than me have wrinkles all around their eyes, where mine are just starting to show.

Make sure you get the food grade Diatomaceous Earth, which can be found at most all health food stores. It has so many other uses too. Gardening, keeps the bugs away from the plants, pets, deworming both humans and animals, etc.

Virgin Coconut Oil is great for the skin too. Cod liver oil daily consumption is supposed to be great for the skin. It needs to be a very good brand. Green Pastures makes a great Cod Liver Oil that is promising too.

    Bill from San Fernando, Philippines

For the past month or so I have been testing a simple alternative remedy for wrinkles around my eyes which are substantial. This problem goes back to before I had candida, where I had rather large bags under my eyes which usually indicates insufficiency and problems with the kidney or liver in the body. Since curing my candida (and resolving the kidney/liver issues), my eye bags have become rather pronounced and wrinkly empty sacks!! This is quite annoying and looks awful. So I had to consider how to revive and tighten all that loose skin back to normal again.

So what I have done to cure this wrinkling and loose baggage around my eyesockets was to use the following simple protocol:

    * Tip a bottle of castor oil against my left middle finger. Tip another bottle of VCO against my right middle finger(ie use a 50-50 mix of castor oil and VCO). Then mix both the oils together by rubbing the middle fingers against each other.

    * Apply this mix thoroughly to each eye socket, including eyelids and eyebrows so that there is an even coating of oil that is not so oily.

    * You can use and apply this remedy at any anytime, but I did it in the evening before sleep. I applied it 3-4 times a week. I used breaks in the protocol in order to allow the skin around the eyes to oxygenate, revive and heal.

    * After showers and cleaning the eye sockets throughly, I also dabbed 3% Hydrogen Peroxide carefully around the eye socket and eyelids (don’t get it in your eyes) to both help kill bacteria etc and to also help oxygenate and revive the skin in that area.

I have used this simple remedy for only about a month with very good results. Not only has it greatly reduced the wrinkling around the eye sockets but this remedy also seems to tighten the skin, such that my empty bags look like normal skin under the eyes now. I also noticed improvement in my eyelashes — longer and thicker now. It also cured something which affects older people — which can only be described as the “hollow looking eye socket problem” that normally occurs and is noticed first thing in the morning when you look in a mirror.

My interest and reasons for using such a remedy was spurred for several reasons. First, I’ve recently read some disturbing research that has confirmed that particularly fungi and yeast can exist and indeed can proliferate, unseen and unnoticed, in the sub-epidermal layers of the skin without detection. I further reasoned that, because so much gunk collects around the eyes, that the skin around the eyes was therefore a perfect feeding environment for proliferation of bacteria as well as fungus and such.

So I simply combined two well-known anti-fungal and anti-bacterial oils plus HP (for skin oxygenation and as a broadband pathogen killer) to get rid of the wrinkle problem and it all seems to have worked quite well and is a very economical way of resolving these problems. I’m still using it.

Hi Susan… It’s best to just lightly dab and spread the hydrogen peroxide in and around the eye sockets with a fingertip after showers with your eyes closed or do this when you are taking breaks from from the oil application. I did it about once or twice a day roughly. I just rubbed HP lightly over the area, making sure not to get any in the eyes.

Sounds promising Bill…. Did you dilute the HP? I have tried the VCO with the Castor oil and actually it works great because the Castor Oil becomes easier to spread. I have tried the cling film on it as someone suggested it. I will see how it progresses. I look quite young, a pity these bags under my eyes! I read it can be a result of dry eyes, also iodine deficiency…. My eyes don’t seem to be dry anymore and I am taking iodine.

Hi Bill, Your opinions are highly appreciated. On this subject, my questions are, to start with is it advisable to mix equal quantity of VCO and castor oil in a small bottle and use one finger after shaking the bottle and doing what you have done by mixing on the two fingers. Secondly the castor oil which I have is refined and says not for medicinal use, is it ok to use. Then, H2O2 which I have is not the food grade and has stabilizer in it, is it ok to use.

Also I would like your opinion on H2O2 which is not food grade and has stabilizer in it, should it be used for internal purposes since the food grade is not available.

      Thanks a lot. Baldev

I have an empty dropper bottle I got at the health food store for like $2, and have filled it 50-50 with VCO and castor oil. I shake it before use, and have begun using it nightly around my eyes. First few days skin seems a lot softer, but bag and lines are still being worked on. If this can work, I will save myself literally thousands in eye creams over the coming decades!

I wanted to share this awesome discovery I just made. I’ve been using the borax drink and read that one woman made it into a spray and used it on her face to get rid of moles. Curious, I thought I would try that as well and see what would happen. Amazingly, my big forehead wrinkle almost immediately started to reduce in size and depth. I am not joking!!

I used a small (2 oz) spray bottle, filled it with water and a small amount of borax to saturate, about 1/4 to 1/2 of a teaspoon. I shook it up and lightly sprayed my face. It doesn’t irritate the eyes though I’d use caution with the eye area. I’d also recommend removing makeup before doing this. I let my face dry and then sprayed again. (I did this about 5 times over the course of an hour or two. ) It’s amazing! My whole face feels like it got a lift and it’s only been 2 days!

I’m experimenting with my crows feet wrinkles using cotton balls soaked in the borax water. Will have to report on that later. I’m not 100% sure if this is permanent yet though it feels incredible :). I’ll try to update in a few weeks. Good luck to all!

Are you sure that it is safe to use Borax Detergent on your face from the laundry isle? Laundry borax had detergent additives. You can get cosmetic grade borax( sodium Borate) from suppliers such as mountain rose herbs that do not have detergent additives and is specificly for use in cosmetics that will be on the skin. I use the cosmetic grade borax in lotions that I make and it isn’t very expensive.

It takes a while but it *does* work!

I’ve been using this for about 6 months now for treating wrinkles and, surprinslgly, it has worked: the lines around my eyes are essentially gone and the ones on my forehead have substantially softened (they were much deeper than the baby crow’s feet I had), so maybe there’s hope that, eventually, they’ll go away, too.

The only downside is, as noted, is that it took 6 months to see any real results, but, man, if you’re in no rush and want something that is dirt cheap (it’s about $2 for a bottle that will last you months at Wal-Mart) this will, eventually! , do the trick.

Of course, that was what I had in my cupboard. The cold-pressed and cold-processed is the superior oil, which you find at health food or vitamin stores. It costs more, but lasts a very long time.

You absolutely NEED to use the HIGH QUALITY Castor Oil – and Palma Christi IS the best! Do NOT purchase cheap castor oil and use it ongoing. It is NOT a good idea. I doubt if Walmart has Palma Christi. You can purchase it online and it is STILL not very expensive. Again, do NOT go for the "cheap stuff"….it's your skin, it's your body….give it the best! Perhaps then it will not take 6 months to see results. Mostly you really do "get what you pay for"….and we all know that's true.

For those who want to avoid harmful chemicals here are a few ideas I have tried out which appear in a collection of little book in French each on a subject like Lemon, Clay, Vinegar, Olive Oil, Magnesium Chloride and many more. Very useful…..

Lip Balsem: Melt 15g of bee wax or shea butter in 10 ml jojoba oil or sweet almond oil au bain-marie. Add 1 drop of Lemon Essential Oil (I would add two as with one I didn't smell a thing! ). Mix and once cooled down store it in a little pot (it will last you a long time as you use very little so if you wish a bit less just make half of the recipe). Rub over your lips.

Anti-wrinkle mask: Place 2 slices of lemon in a bowl (1 if your skin is very dry and 4 if it is very greasy) and cover with equal parts of creme fraiche (I suppose nowadays you can buy it everywhere) and milk, both lightly warmed up beforehand. Let rest for at least 3 hours. Try do use the mask a few times a week. To use apply it over your face and let dry for 30 minutes. Rinse using a wet towel!

      Hi Sandy,

I am familiar with the items Dee spoke of. I've used both myself.

The “smoothies” she referred to are called “Frownies”. I get them via Amazon. They'll help with wrinkles, but you have to use them faithfully, otherwise the wrinkles will reappear.

The “Derma Roller” she mentioned is also something that I've purchased via Amazon. It's a little wheel with hundreds of tiny needles on it with a handle similar to that of a shaving razor.

They come in different sizes and speaking from my own experience, I would recommend starting with the .5mm needles. Once your skin has adapted to the .5mm (I would estimate that to take approximately a month or so)you can increase to the 1.0mm version if you'd like.

Take some time to read the Amazon reviews. You'll see that many skipped the .5mm and went straight to the 1.0mm with good results, while others started at .5mm and stayed there – they were content with the results and felt they didn't need to increase to 1.0mm.

I, too, am an advocate of hyaluronic acid serum. Of all the products I have tried (and I've tried dozens and dozens over the years), the serum, by far, provided the best results.

You'll still need to moisturize, though. The serum sinks right in and doesn't leave the face moist/dewy. That's where either castor oil or whatever moisturizer you typically use, comes in. You apply it a few minutes after the serum is dry.

If you're reluctant to go the Derma Roller/needle route, I also highly recommend dry-brushing the face as an alternative. The same principal as the roller applies – it roughs up the skin's surface to stimulate collagen production. It works quite well! I dry-brush much more often than I Derma Roll.

A natural bristle brush is very inexpensive and the method itself is very simple and less time consuming than the rollers. In a quick back and forth motion (similar to polishing shoes), you brush each section of your face in different directions. For example, starting with the forehead, you would brush one side of your forehead in an up and down motion for a count of ten. Then in that same spot, brush in a side to side motion, also for a count of ten. Then you do the same in both diagonal directions (like an X).

Do the same to each section of the face, except the under eye area. I brush all of my neck as well.

When you're done, just as with the roller method, you apply your HA serum, then moisture, etc.

Good luck! It's certainly a process, but the results are worth it.

      1+

Honey is a great skin smoother and it's a natural antimicrobial. Massage into the skin in circular motion (this is great for circulation) and leave on as long as you care to (very sticky and may run). Wash off with cool water and pat dry. You should notice immediate smoothing of the skin, including fine lines and pores. It's a humectant and draws moisture to it. You can also make a paste of shea butter and honey. Wonderful!

I’m looking for the ultimate skin care/cure for wrinkles and aging skin. What really works to get rid of wrinkles around the face and eyes, etc. We all know that skin ages, and need to learn to be comfortable “in our own skin.” However, I’m at an age where I’d like to stop the maintenance and go for prevention. I’ve researched all kinds of things on the web, but am more confused that ever. What really, really works to correct aging skin? Face lifts, botox, etc. are not an option.

What would a naturopath or physician recommend in terms of a complete skin maintenance routine? I’ve got the basics down in terms of living a healthy lifestyle (food, water, yoga, exercise, sleep, natural skincare products, etc.) , but with so many products, and so much hype, out there, what really works? What is the simplest, most effective product for the face and eyes?

My skin is in relatively good condition. However, I’m in the sun a lot, and tanned intensely when I was young. I want something that really works. I have tried natural skin care for years, Hauschka, Weleda,B.Bees, etc., as well as Dept. store brands, Estee Lauder, Clinique, Murad, etc. Has anyone really happened on to a real miracle cure, or what’s all the hype about various products on-line? I really want to know what others have found out, product comparisons, and if there is something, besides basic maintenance that outdoorsy folks who prefer natural products can use.

In my case I've found that taking gelatin, which converts in the body to collagen (essential for smooth skin), has been the best way to get rid of wrinkles over time. You have to take it consistently, though. I learned about this from the book “Sip Away Your Wrinkles.”

Stephen S (North Carolina). You state gelatin is the best way to get rid of wrinkles over time. Can you tell me how long you were taking it before you got rid of your wrinkles? Also in what amount and how many times a day.

I bought some gelatin 2 weeks ago and have been taking 2 dessert spoons full each morning and evening. Probably a bit too soon to see any changes yet.

      Thanks.

Facial Wrinkles: I use enough 100% Aloe-Gel to cover the area that I want to treat then apply enough vitamin E liquid to cover the same area well. (Vitamin E liquid is not an oil and will penetrate the skin well by using the Aloe as the vehicle.) I’ve been using this combination as an after shave for 18 years and don’t have tell-tale wrinkles on my face. I’m 87 years old, and people take me for 20 years younger.

For acne, coconut oil is not recommended, it will actually plug your pores and cause more breakouts. Jojoba oil is a long known remedy for acne. It is almost exactly the same composition as our skin’s natural oil, so when you apply it, it will actually slow the production of sebum, which causes acne. I didn’t believe any oil could help acne..but jojoba does..and removes wrinkles too..try it on the frown marks!

I had about 15 at least gallbladder attacks in 2 weeks -hospitalized one night as well and they wanted to take out the gallbladder for my "diamonds" gallstones which I'd had for 16 yrs. at least with no probs. except very sick in my 4 pregnancies because of excess bile… The attacks started due to taking digestive enzymes for 2 days and then going off them. The attacks began the next night with coleslaw, sausages, and saurkraut ..but continued for the next 2 weeks pretty much whatever I ate. In my worst attack I practically crawled to the computer to earthclinic.com. The 1/2 cup lettuce cure came up with 2 yeas. Sent son running to store for it and 20 mins. later after eating the 1/2 c. I had complete relief. As one writer speculated that it stimulated the liver to produce digestive enzymes that would stop the body from calling on the gallbladder to produce digestive bile.. So for the next 24 hrs. I ate nothing but iceberg lettuce -lots of it – and slices of organic apple. The next day I tried out eating whatever I wanted which had caused attacks throughout the prev. 2 wks. (except the cabbage/sausages -bad memory!) Even McDonald's failed to give me an attack. I am so thrilled with this cure of course!

Hearing once recently that digestive enz help people lose a lot of weight, I wonder if the stimulation of the liver a couple times a day with particularly iceberg lettuce (as it's supposed to work the best rather than other lettuces) would be a natural weight loss cure as well? I know it seems to make less of the slight puff around my ankles -more definition. So it might also help with fluid retention. As well my new pretty set wrinkles of 6 mos. ago have almost completely disappeared within a few days of ingesting 3x per day at least (vertical ones beneath my eyes -not the crow's feet). Try it and I'd love to hear your feedback as I'm a personal trainer and would love to see if it helps people lose weight -at least it brings down the glycemic index of each meal you eat it with some.

Emu oil and Aloe Vera Gel cures wrinkles, pimples, dry skin, flaky complexion, dull-appearing skin etc. 100% pure emu oil and concentrated aloe vera juice/gel moisten the epidermis of the skin and really make one’s skin glow, the aloe tightening the pores and diminishing wrinkles. the EMU OIL has a very small molecule, almost identical the body’s own sebum, which can reach deep within the epidermal layers and plump skin. both impove skin tone and overall texture.
