Turmeric and Homemade Salve

I learned about turmeric and baking soda for the treatment of boils while searching the web for a natural cure two years ago when I came across Earth Clinic's website. My son had been getting boils for nearly 10 years. I was panicking because the boil that he had at this time was on his face just under his nose. It was huge. Our doctor gave him antibiotics which only seemed to make it worse. His face was so swollen and his upper and lower lips looked as though he was given an over dose of collagen injections. Really scary to say the least as well as painful.

Because I happened to have a bottle of turmeric capsules in my cupboard as well as baking soda, I decided to try it. Well, let me tell you, after suffering for nearly four days, in less than one day the boil started to shrink and the pain was gone. In two days, it was completely gone! I made a paste with turmeric powder and coconut oil as well as some other antifungals that I had, such as garlic oil, olive leaf extract, capsaicin and grapefruit seed extract and tea tree oil. I mixed them all together and applied them to the boil and put a band aid over it. I changed it three times a day. I also mixed about two teaspoons of baking soda in two ounces of water and had my son drink this morning and night. What a relief, to say the least! After two days my son's boil was nonexistent. Truly amasing! I hate to think what the outcome may have been if I had not discovered Earth Clinic. Oh, yeah, my son also took a couple of turmeric capsules orally as well as olive extract, capsaicin and garlic oil for a few days. These are all natural antifungal, antibiotic and antiviral. I also read an article online by a doctor who has cured MRSA using olive leaf extract as well as bentonite clay used topically. If my son should get another boil, I won't be so worried because I have found a remedy that works and it is not pharaceutical antibiotics that don't work! Thank you so much Earth Clinic, I love your website and I tell everyone I know about it. My son especially thanks you!

You mentioned chocolate and nuts, but I've had to swear off sugar and oil otherwise I know I'm doomed for a dreaded flair-up. Absolutely anything fried, greasy, or containting syrup (especially high fructose corn syrop, or white sugar, I've discovered are all NO NOs. This may not be true for everyone, but try cutting some of these things out to reduce reccurance. Can't wait to try turmeric, running to Wal-Mart ASAP when I get off work!

Tumeric, Vitamin E, Tea Tree Oil, Neosporin curing my boils. I had what I had thought was a pimple get severely infected so that it had spread down my inner thigh. About one week later, I had five very tender areas on my upper inner thigh. I ended up with 5 boils. The area from my groin down to my knee was swollen & red. I was deperate and started serching the internet for cures. I found Earth Clinic. We had tumeric on the spice rack. Started taking it immediately. I mixed one tsp in a small glass of warm water four times a day. AMAZING!!I also applied very warm water compresses every two hours for 15 minutes each. Within 8 hours, two of the most painful ones had come to a head. Within another 4 hours the other 3 had come to a head. After two weeks, they were healed. I had a few hard bumps left and came back to Earth Clinic. Discovered Vitamin E for the hard bumps. I now have tumeric capsules (450mg per capsule)! I have found that thanks to onset of menopause, the boils will continue for a while. I now take one capsule of tumeric/two capsules of vitamin E in the morning & one capsule of tumeric at night before bed. The hard leftover bumps fade out faster. I made the mistake of skipping the tumeric/vitamin E for two days and had a very nasty boil flair up! Tea Tree oil mixed with tumeric and put on the boil helps to soothe and bring to a head. Make the tea tree oil & tumeric into a thick paste (1/4 tsp of tumeric & a few drops of tea tree oil)and spread on a bandage, apply the bandage to the boil, change every four to six hours. After the boil opened with a little help from a sharp needle dipped in alcohol, I made a paste of neosporin and tumeric, spread on a bandage, and applied the bandage over the boil. After three days from start (Thursday) to today (Saturday) the boil has opened, is draining and the pain is fading fast!My sister who has dealt with boils for years and spent over $5000 on doctors, medicine and first aid aupplies. I have spent about $50! THANK YOU EarthClinic!

TJ, I buy a particular grape jelly for my son that doesn't have HFCS in it. I know we can't really give brand names so I'll just say it's in a slender jar and is "all fruit" :) They make a variety of HFCS-free fruit spreads (blueberry, strawberry, etc.). This is carried in my local grocery chain. It can also be bought online if you work out the brand name.

Hello TJ

I saw your post on earth clinic today, and I am interested to know something pls. did you get your outbreak even while you were using Turmeric? as everyone says that as long as you use it there will be no boils or outbreaks?! I was diagnosed with HS which is different than normal or acne boils, and I take Turmeric powder, so that's why I appreciate if you can let me know. Thank you so much.

First, sorry about the delay in response!! Oh YES! You can still get boils while taking Turmeric. I am battling a VERY major one right now and was/still am taking Turmeric. I even added more Turmeric to my previous intake. (2 500mg tablets 3 times a day AND one teaspoon regular spice in warm water 3 times a day) I have now added 2 garlic cloves in the morning and 2 garlic cloves at night. After 24 hours, NO RELIEF! It has taken my left breast from a C cup to a DD cup! I'm going to try cream of tarter next. Good Luck and Bless Be

G'Morn! My apologies to the moderators for posting this one too while the most previous post if still pending. I can only hope that the posts are in order. ;-)

UPDATE: I never got to the cream of tarter. I went to the bathroom for a round a warm/hot compresses and (drum roll please) it was draining! A little background here: One of the boils had developed into a hole that I had thought was healing. I had even done some hydrogen peroxide to clean out any residue. I now think that was a big mistake. Jump forward to draining: four gauze pads later, it had slowed so that I could bandage it and have some dinner. I walked out of the bathroom to the kitchen and informed my mom that I didn't care if the cloves of garlic (chewing, putting fresh in food) played havoc with my stomach for an hour afterwards...IT WORKED!!!!! I promptly took out a large clove of garlic, chewed up half, down some water, chewed up the other half, drank more water, grabbed a spoonful of strawberry preserves (NO HFCS) to clean out the taste. We had chicken chow mein and mom informed me that there was a least 5 cloves in it. LOL

Mom also gave me some Tylenol 3's for the pain. The circles under my eyes for lack of good sleep is very noticable. I took a nice warm bath, warm compresses, more drainage. Then washed with Ivory. I know, I know, most people are recommending Dial BUT that soap is way too harsh for my skin and had proven to be the cause of my acne from teens to early twenties. I won't touch it. The Ivory (which I had used on my babies with no problems) gets me clean and is proving effective at clearing up the smaller boils below the waist.

As of 4.30AM, it is still draining (YIPPEE)! The pain is going down and so is the size. I do prefer my regular bra-cup size. Mom and I will be hitting the local dollar store for more garlic. Am I still taking Turmeric? Oh yes!!! One teaspoon (Not the measuring spoon!!) in a glass of warm water 3x a day. The glass size would be referred to as a "juice glass" or about 180mL. I don't do anything extra with it other than drink it before eating. That way my stomach shuts up and behaves!

I do hope that I've covered everything. If I haven't send me an email (my address is on the first post under this heading) or post it on the website. I am deeply greatful to EarthClinic for all of the wonderful info!! Bless Be

UPDATE: Well, the good news is: I don't have MRSA. I did have a bout with MSSA (another form of Bacteria Strep). Landed me in the hospital for a week. I had the whole serious triple pack of I.V. antibiotics, pain medication injections, and gauze packed in my breast.

BACKGROUND: My right breast started to swell and within one week had gone from a C cup to almost an F. Skin started to peel and the infection was showing under the skin. I had to have surgery to lance it. I have now a 4" long gash, 1.5" wide and done to the breast bone. The consensus is that I would have been better off with a masectomy. I have also been diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2. Another nasty factor that contributed to all of the flair up of boils.

I'm going to start back on the ACV to help with the blood sugars. I still stand by a lot ot the remedies. As soon as the doctors clear me..I'm racing back to my vitamin E (internal) and Vitamin E/Coconut Oil mix (external) for the scaring.

ADIVCE: If you are avoiding the Doctor and are having repeated outbreaks...GET YOUR BUTT TO THE HOSPITAL ANYWAY!!!!! The doctor's opinion is that if I have waited another week...I wouldn't have survived.

My teenage son has genital acne which is not herpes for the past three years. The doctors told me it's because his sweat glands are blocked. He was placed on multiple antibiotics that never worked. They even suggested surgey. Then one day on one of ops to the doctor, a suggestion was made for my son to take accutane. I was shock! How could a doctor recommand accutane to a teenage boy who is already depressed. I walked out of that office and told my son that God was going to heal himWell I started reasearching and found your site. Wow! I stumble on different ways to treat boils, which is basically what my son has. I started to experiement and came up with this wonderful recipe.
PASTE
Turmeric = 2 tablespoon
Neem powder= 2 table spoon
Garlic Clove= 1 crushed clove
Castro oil- 2 table spoon
APPLY TO INFECTED AREA 2X A DAY

Tea
Boil water and turmeric 2x aday and drink with blackstrap molassess and cayenne pepper

Within twenty four hours my sons boils in his genital and underarm area was shringing and comming to a head. My son does not sweat easily, on the first day he was sweating. He also states that he is not in pain. FOR ANYONE THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM TRY TURMERIC AND THE OTHER INGREDIENTS IT WORKS

Hi Laura, So sorry your young daughter is suffering. I would suggest you get turmeric in her immediately. There are many testimonies on this site on the success of this and turmeric is one of those miraculous herbs. Here are the links to the sections:

https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/boils20.html#TURMERIC

https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/hidradenitis_suppurativa6.html#TURMERIC

Also, this is a bit from the top of the boils page:

Natural Cures: Though other natural remedies exist -- such as drawing salve and colloidal silver -- hands down the best preferred home remedy for boils is turmeric. If you are unfamiliar with this mild, earthy orange spice, it is commonly used in Indian cuisine and mustards. It can be applied directly to boils (though it stains) or consumed in food or drink. Turmeric is most effective against boils if combined with a dietary fat and black pepper.

Wishing you and your daughter the best, Lisa

Hi , I think I read it's due to a body that is too acidic and too much calcium. She could bath in Epsom salts as the magnesium would help heal and balance out the calcium. Sudacream helps( zinc nappy rash cream) topically. The tumeric advice sounds good( add to food and topically). Water with lemon juice every day would be a gentle alkaliser to drink but ACV and bicarb better if you can persuade her to take it. I think this is really common, it's just people don't talk about it. Good luck x

Hi - I'm so sorry for your daughter. How awful to be going through that at so young of an age. She might have hidradentis suppurativa - you can google it to find out more info. I have it and get the boils in my groin area. Applying a drop of tea tree oil directly on the boil and surrounding area several times a day helps to speed up the healing process quite a bit. I also recommend looking into cleaning up her diet and possibly eliminating wheat, dairy and sugar (which would no doubt be very challenging for a pre-teen girl to do! ). But when someone is in so much pain... She might be willing to try it in order to get better. :) Best of luck to you both!

Hi Laura, a few months ago I got rid of boils with remedies I found here. I treated them from the inside and the outside. Most importantly is treating from the inside. For the inside, I take an acidophilus capsule (3 Billion) with breakfast and with dinner. I have also started eating whole milk yogurt. And to treat them from the outside, I used zinc oxide ointment. The ordinary kind with few ingredients that you can find in most drug stores. I would slather it on the boils twice a day - after my shower in the morning and then again before bed. Use a lot, it's messy, so use a sanitary pad as a bandage, that can stick to the inside of her underwear. Mine cleared up and have not come back. Hope this helps.

BOILS: Our families results: Yes Turmeric

YES!!! Vinegar baths Yes yes yes!!!

I felt like you discouraged people from using Hydrogen Pyroxide. I need to tell you that when we would get the familiar (prickly) bite on our behinds that we knew was an infected follicle, and future boil. The one thing that stopped it at that early early point was scratching it open, and putting a cotton ball soaked in hydrogen pyroxide on it with tape overnight. If we didn't do it quickly though, we would have to take the turmeric to get it to stop growing.

When the family started taking Vinegar baths and then rub A and D zinc oxide cream diaper Rash ointment on our behinds, and of course everyone wiped the toilet seat with alcohol after they used it... but anyway, this is what totally stopped the spread of them in the house. Six people.

Turmeric was great and we attempted to keep an alkalinizing diet, but the vinegar and ointment is what stopped the spread in the house.

We really don't know if the parasites are the cause of the problem because not everyone gets boils.

Boil Remedies: I'm sooo happy this site is up. I've had bad boils on my behind along the area where my butt cheeks meet for the past 8 years. I would get them every month and went to the doctor and they were no help. I was so embarrassed and ashamed for others to see them and they left ugly black scars that I'm in the process of healing. Well one user posted to stop eating peanuts and chocolate together i.e.-all my favorite candy bars, M&Ms, Snickers, and Reeses, and they also said stop eating things with high fructose corn syrup i.e-soda, juice, ketchup, salad dressings etc. So I did and I haven't gotten a boil in 3 months! Turmeric worked to help reduce the boils but eliminating these foods and products got to the source!!!! Thanks Again!

BOIL REMEDIES: I am back and wanted to share my experiences recently since trying the different recommended remedies. I use a combination and they have drastically reduced the condition.

1. Dial soap (ordinary yellow bar only) - each morning.
2. Tumeric tablets - 3/4 times a day w/ meals (I have noticed this really reduces the swelling).
3. use Tea tree oil at night and Bach's flower remedy cream over it before bedtime.

As a result, although it has not completely vanished, the symptoms have drastically been reduced. It reduces swelling, pain and bursting. It has reduced the number of boils and when they do appear, they are much smaller and resolve themselves much quicker.

Thanks everyone for your help.

So once your infections have a head, they drain on their own & heal? Every time I've had a mrsa boil I always have to squeeze it to get the stuff out & it just keeps on growing and making a huge hole in my skin. I always end up caving & going to the doctor. I'm afraid its going to spread & kill me. :(

No matter what I used to cause boil to burst and drain, whether hot salt bath or VVR to name a few, to get it to close nicely, I gently clean area and put a little hydrogen peroxide a folded to size soft paper towel and apply to area. I let it stay on a few hours or even over night. It always closes the open boil beautfully and quickly, no more than a couple of days and sometimes faster.

For more than 1/2 my life...Re: Post-surgery of the right armpit and beyond. In 2000 I had a cyst removed from my right pit. It was benign, the size of a grapefruit, & was an outpt procedure, Was sent home with drains & Oxy-contin. Detoxed self off that, & came through well with the drains meaning little scarring. 6 mos. later I was to return for the same procedure on the left arm, but refused as the right was beginning to swell again. Hence, SURGERY DOESN'T WORK FOR A SYSTEMIC CONDITION. What does?? Every thing mentioned in this blessed site so far! Especially the ACV-Epsom Salt, & Kosher/Sea Salt. Messy as hell, but very healing. Paper tape as well when draining, as it took me years to find a solution to ripped-off skin. Also, Curry powder which contains Turmeric, at night, but it can stain so be careful. Then, Campho-Phenique after bathing can catch new erupts early and stop them, especially in the groin area. Hot compresses of Golden Seal/Burdock/Slippery Elm herbal tea are also effective, but on thin skin they are indeed painful - had to take several shots of liquor before applying - BUT, 30 YEARS LATER THERE'S BEEN NO RECURRANCE TO THE AREA AT THE TIP OF MY COCCYX BONE. Good luck all, will write back soon...Jessy

I've had a boil in the groin area for the past 3 days. I was shocked to see this bump and googled bumps and everything i read was genital warts (GW). It couldnt have been because i dont believe they'd pop out of nowhere on me. Anyway i put ACV and the next morning it had shrunk and it in the meantime i was trying to let myself come to terms with the fact that i had somehow got GW. Second day i decided to switch to garlic- put it on for 15 mins and it burned like crazy my whole leg was sore but after a while it stops burning. By the end of the day the skin on and around the 'gw' had come off and it was raw and extremely painful i had to take some tylenol with codeine. 3 day in the morning i felt a lime size lump and almost had a heart attack. I had to tell someone i had a 'gw' but didnt and just said i had a boil on my 'butt'. I was in pain the whole and waiting to see this thing shrink and fall off so the whole night til 3am i searched a bunch of staff on 'gw' including pictures and trying to compare and nothing looked like wat i had so i looked up boils and first thing in the morning bought some tumeric and tea tree oil, came home and put it on the boil- now i believed i had a boil and was kind of relieved. The tea tree oil soothed my whole body- no more pain- joy. 2 hours later i decided to take a peak after taking more tylenol. I rubbed it with a moist warm cotton ball, I started squeezing it and 'SQUIRT'! a bunch of blood mixed with pus. Hooray it was a boil. So applied more tumeric and tea tree oil- soothing and i'll let u know what happens in the next 5 days.

I have had a staph infection on my face for two years (folliculitis). I first went to an internist doctor who gave me two weeks of dioxcycline (100mg once a day). It did not work. Then I went to a dermatologist who told me that I had roseaca. However, it was on my forehead - not a common site for roseacea. I was given 100 mg of minocycline once a day, which caused the infected follicles to produce pus which spread the infection all over my face and onto my chest. From searching the internet, I discovered that puting 1/2 bottle of Lysol Concentrate (which kills staph) into my washing machine when washing the items (pillow cases) that touched my infection drascically cut down on the constant spread of the infection. I returned to the Dr to try to get her to start treating me for what I actually had, staph, but she would not back down from her roseacea diagnosis. Realizing that she was misdiagnosing me, I went to a second dermatologist. He said I indeed had staph, and that I needed 100mg of antibiotics twice a day, a sulfur wash twice a day to kill the staph on my skin, and to take the antibiotics for a month after the spreading stopped. He tried three different antibiotics in succession for one month each, but none worked to his satisfaction. Not having insurance to pay for more intensive efforts, I gave up. When I got a job a year later with insurance, I returned to the last Dr. I had figured out that one of the antibiotics he had tried the year before - minocycline - had been working. I told him and so he tried it again. It only got the infection down to a certain point and then stopped working. I figured out that my diet coke addiction was keeping me so dehydrated that the minocycline wasn't wroking. I stopped drinking caffeine beverages and my staph infection was almost cured. But it still would not totally heal. Then I discovered to wait three hours instead of two after taking the medicine to eat. Eating two hours after taking the medicine wasn't letting the full dose absorb into my body. Then the infection began to totally heal. In the mean time, the Dr told me that I had been on the antibiotic too long and started trying to reduce my doseage and take me of of the minocycline. I had to beg to be allowed to continue taking it till I was cured. It finally cured. I wish I had known about tumeric because of all the emotional turmoil I had to go though over two years. The first two traditional medicine doctors weren't competent in treating staph, and the third was so uncommunicative that I had to struggle for months to figure out how to make the prescribed antibiotic work. The papers that came with the antibiotic just said not to drink alcohol and to wait 2 to 3 hours before and after taking the medicine to eat. I had to endure eight months of having to wait hours to eat because of all this. I hope this saves someone from going through two years of treatment when they should have been cured in two or three months.

Try H2O2 for your crusty spots. That is what I use on my face and it only leaves a red mark after wards, which will go away soon. If the H202 burns then there is still a slight infection, you may want to try one more application of the paste.
