Beetroots nourish the blood. In Chinese medicine, eye floaters are an indication of liver-blood deficiency, so it makes sense that people are finding improvement with the consumption of beets!
L-Carnosine Eye Drops
Posted by Frank (Thunder Bay, On) on 11/30/2013
I have now done the Can-C eye-drops and L-Carosine regimen for 37 days, from Oct. 23/13 to Nov. 29/12, and have decided to stop the regimen beginning today Nov. 30/13. The reason I am stopping the regimen is because I believe I am experiencing negative symptoms related to the regimen.
Firstly, over about the past week I have started to notice difficulty reading the credits on the TV screen following a movie or other writing on the TV screen. Admittedly, this may be due to the fact that I have a new prescription for glasses that I haven had filled yet, but I believe this is something different and of a more rapid onset which I suspect is due in part at least to this regimen.
Second, my eyes have become somewhat reddened and slightly inflamed. The redness on a scale of 1 to 10, is about a 4 given that 1 is white and 10 is blood red. On a scale of 1 to 10, the burning is slight and about a 3. The burning is now more or less the continuous norm as opposed to the normal and comfortable feeling about ten days to two weeks into the regimen. I suspect this is due to the eye-drops and their action on the surface of the eye, but this regimen is not getting into the eye and reducing the eye-floaters.
I do not think these new symptoms are do to the return of dry-eye condition mentioned earlier. I am not getting sudden stop of the eye-lid during blinking due to dryness of the eye, neither is there continual greasiness or abundant mucous in the eye. Also, I am not getting the blocked tear-duct that caused a build up of tears that took 10 to 15 finger wipes to drain them away.
Given the above, I think the regimen is now causing negative symptoms without delivering any positive ones. And on account of that have decided to cease the regimen today. I have given thought to perhaps taking a break and then resuming the regimen but given that there is no improvement is symptoms, that is not likely. Should I resume the regimen, I will report back here about that.
I intend to take a Taurine capsule today, and then I'll see whether to take them daily, every second day, or once or twice a week. But, I'll report back on how that goes.
I also intend to start researching eye-floaters again and I will report back If I discover any significant findings.
Good luck to you all with your eye-floaters, And, like Edison said of his Light bulb experiments, he hadn't failed, only discovered another way that didn't work. :)

Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) for Eye Floaters
I'm sorry I don't remember the dose of ALA I took, but it was nothing out of the ordinary. A local health food store owner recommended it to me and said it had cured several of her customers who had floaters. She recommended taking it with Vit C. My floaters were gone in 4-5 days.

what about Iodine?
I did a quick search and found this comment from 2009 (on another site):
"..I just started experiment with Iodine cause info was being posted to
a number of lists about it.
But being a bit conservative after all these years, I decided to start
with painting the top of one arm from mid arm to mid wrist.
And throwing some Iodine on a finger nail that was growing out badly
after being squashed.
By the second day (after 3 applications the first 2 days) there was
a major difference between what was growing out, and what had grown
out.
There have been some other major improvements as well, but the best
one was finding that the floaters that have been in my eyes for close
to two decades are fading out. _
Major floaters, major vision problems
:DDDDDDDDDD
A friend of mine that is trying out the Providone reported the same
result (among other good stuff.)
Another major unexpected side effect is that a painful dent on my
shin (caused by leg sliding between cement steps and a brick wall,
and then my falling forward while trying to walk down the steps.)
where I should have had a badly broken bone) that has been painful
for close to 2 decades is not hurting anymore. It use to hurt to
the touch, but then lately had started just aching.
AND the dent isn't as dented.
So, it wouldn't hurt to add some Iodine (external or internal)....

Lou,
Yes, a detached vitreous humor is probably the MAIN cause of 'sudden' larger floaters. That happened to me about 2 years ago, and then again just today at lunch. It came on fast two...within a minute so I knew it was a bleed. And I had some garlic w/my lunch which is a well known blood thinner (see below). They checked and found that it hadn't detached, but there was a small amount of blood at the bottom of the last detached area. When they're repaired with lasers, they can't really close the detachment, but they laser around it to prevent it from detaching further. Those pin-tip size floaters at tiny specs of blood -- so it's best to back off on any type of blood thinner -- natural or drug-based -- because you'll continue to get them and/or they're get worse. Mine were better like I said for a little more than 2 years...but something caused the bleed today, and now I'm back with 'windshield-wiped' type floaters, and those little tiny, tiny black dots, but I'm determined to find every way I can to make them go away. Will update my post as I (hopefully) improve.

Update:
The correction the beet juice gives doesn't persist. A few hours after I take it each time, I can see the floaters again. I have not been using it consistently however, and maybe it's a cumulative effect. I use it when it gets really uncomfortable, outside of that I have just learned to work around it.

Looking in medical books I found floaters are sometimes even from time of birth, when extra capillaries inside the eye do not dissolve. So nothing to do with sleeping position. BUT they have ALL to do for me with eating sweet things, and bread. So perhaps they might even be candida related. So staying off breads seems to help me a lot.
I make occasionally raw beets to rejuvenate my liver. Formula is easy to make by anyone. All you need is a greater (or food processor).
1/3 raw beets, 1/3 good extra virgin olive oil, 1/3 fresh lemon juice. (Or lime juice when I cannot find good lemons here). Grate beets, mix with olive oil and lemon juice, place in glass dish with cover, refrigerate. Eat 1 tablespoon on its own, or in salads daily. Good for skin too. Original recipe I had said that when we eat this 1 Tablespoon each hour it can completely regenerate the liver. (Unless someone is in a live and death liver situation, I would stick to the 1 then 2 TBSP daily, or one could regenerate the liver, while experiencing major detox. )

One caution with beets -- they're EXTREMELY high in oxalates. So if one has joint pains or especially are prone to kidney stones, you want to avoid beets at all costs. Plus, not sure why they would help with floaters as they have nothing to do with collagen and/or blood issues.

Hi Debbie. The chemistry doesn't change but the chemicals can. 2 parts hydrogen will always combine with 1 part oxygen to produce water, H2O and vice versa. But, while the chemistry of water doesn't change the quality of that water can and does change. Today we must be wary of where that water comes from and what's in it. The water may be stagnant with a high bacterial count, or it could be polluted with chemicals from industries, etc. I am fortunate where I live, about 400 miles from the closest major city to be able to buy local spring water for drinking rather than Lake superior water delivered in the house taps. We buy or meats from the local Abattoir or local farmers not the super market. And, our local farmers do not use growth hormones nor are the animals grain feed. The animals are free range fed. The same with our chickens and eggs. We buy our milk also from the local dairy not the super market. Our sausages come from local suppliers also. When we buy canned fish we buy wild brands not farm fed fish. Our oils come from the local health food store and we are careful about how they are processed, such as cold pressed, in nitrogen atmosphere where appropriate, virgin and properly refrigerated if appropriate. We never but commercial oils sold in the super markets as per Dr. Johanna Budwig. We are careful when shopping not to buy products that have preservatives in them or are genetically modified. Our rule is not to buy anything processed more than once, because that enables producers to bury the facts about ingredients used in the preparations. We buy no frankenfoods such as McDonalds milk shakes that don't contain any milk. Or snacks scientifically engineered to appeal to your taste buds with regard to the balance of fats, sugars and salts. Speaking of salts as table salts we use Andean, Himalayan and sea salts for their natural mineral content that we mix half and half with potassium salt so as to balance to balance out their sodium content. We eat little wheat but what we do is whole wheat. Our bread is mostly rye bread made at the local bakers that contains no preservatives and we keep it in the fridge with the milk. We eat a fair amount of rice, but only brown rice for the fiber content as well. Our ideal is to try and eat like our grand parents did 100 yrs ago. Our meals are meat/fish and vegetables not Kraft dinners or the latest quick fix franken meal from the Superetta. While visiting a local mall recently I was amazed at the condition of the young people are in. One point there were six young women walking ahead of me. They looked like a herd of elephants sauntering along. They were all 2.3 to 3 across the behinds. I almost seemed that it would be easier for them to roll along than to walk. When I was in high school there was only 1 to 3 fat people in the student body and they had a thyroid problem or something. Today governments want to go after the fast food shops over the condition of the young people. While that may well be justified, but it is only part of the problem. They should also ban the franken foods and commercially produced oils as well. When I was young, it was a fast half hour walk to school and another 15 minute walk each way to and from restaurant for lunch. And then in the evening after your home work was done it was a 20 minute walk to a cafe' where we danced to music on the juke box or half hour walk each way to go down town. In short, we used our bodies as intended to get us around burning a lot of calories both from the exercise but also to keep ourselves warm. Imagine how many calories we burned up over the years. We also ate heartily with burgers and french fries with grave and cokes but we burned it all off with walking, playing sports, dancing and keeping our bodies warm through exposure to the cold Today our children are bussed to school from day one and entertain themselves with video games, movies and TV two of which we didn't have when I was young. I walk each Saturday and Sunday morning 3. 5 miles each day for a total of 7 miles a week. Recently a friend of mine and my son offered to walk with me. When I walk, I walk up a hill and down again 3 cycles for a total of 3. 5 miles. This young man had trouble keeping up and had to quit after one cycle and he is a practitioner of mixed martial arts. The young people today do not think of walking for exercise or to get around. It's foreign to them. I agree with you that food buying today is a mine field. You have to read the labels of what you buy for preservatives and GMOs. People need learn to buy the best and leave the rest. I feel sorry for people living in today's megalopolises, where there air is toxic to breath and may be counter productive to walk or exercise in it, where they may have little choice food wise other than the super market's commercially processed and franken foods or a fast food restaurant because mom is too tired after working all day to slave over a stove to prepare a healthful meal of basic food. Every generation has had its dejour. I my day it was polio today it's cancer and like you say Autism and ADHD. I believe it is a violation of a person's basic fundamental rights to require children before they are old enough to concent to have vaccines or they can't be educated but it seems to go hand in glove with the current drift away from democracy and basic human rights toward control, totalitarianism, despotism and voiding of concerns for the individual. In short, not only are the young not being given to opportunity to have clean unadulterated foods and water, but they are not being taught the need to be judicious in purchasing of foods. They are not being educated with regard the need to avoid preservatives, GMOs, and commercially prepared franken foods. They also don't know what basic unadulterated foods are and what healthy meals should consist of. Neither are they being taught the importance of clean water without the chemicals deposited in the water by leaving plastic water bottles in the sun; nor the importance of regular exercise in order to live healthily. I realize that I am blessed with where I live and the resources I have available to me that not everyone has. But, the task today is for people to educate themselves so that they know what healthy foods and water are and to seek out good sources of them. People should also strive to understand what various nutrients are and the functions they perform in the body and how to eat healthily. To that end, Let's Eat Right by Adelle Davis is a great starting point for their studies. Also, we need to realize that our bodies during our evolution were kinetic and did not leave us disposed for a sedentary lifestyle. JMHOFWIW.

All my floaters are still there. I got my floaters from being myopic, reading too much without plus lenses and thus overheating the vitreus chamber. Maybe inflammations while using contact lenses when I was a teen added to the problem.

Hi Katalyst,
I know you said you have no vision insurance. Vision insurance usually refers to refraction (glasses measurement). Floaters and flashing lights, on the other hand, are considered a medical problem and should be covered by medical insurance, as would things such as glaucoma, cataract, and macula degeneration for example. Hope that helps.

You say that you work for 10 hours daily on computers. I have floaters too, and here looking for some ideas. But regarding computer use my eyes really enjoy a Yellow night driving clip-on for glasses. If you normally don't wear glasses you can get Yellow night driving glasses in Walmart for about $ 10. I just purchased 2 more as gifts, as my eyes are much less stressed from the blue computer screen light, and so current floaters are so much less of a bother.

Hi Stephanie from Framingham - Your post regarding taurine and eye health intrigued me so I did a bit of research into what else taurine can do. The list is quite impressive! From what I read it helps with eye health, tinnitus, liver health, seizures, diabetes, heart health, etc. My brother (severely overweight) has just been diagnosed with diabetes - he is already experiencing neuropathy. However, he refuses to change his diet/lifestyle. He will take medication but will not do anything else (including reading about his disease). I'm going to see if he will at least try taurine. Thank you, Stephanie, for opening my eyes (and eye health) to taurine! Cheers, Bess

Hi Kk. You don't need to bother with the flax seeds. In fact, I don't recommend it on a long term basis. I got diverticulitis after using ground flax seeds every day for several years. They can stick together and become trapped in the diverticulae of your intestines and then become infected. You can see the stickiness very easily. Just wet your finger and put it in the seeds an the seed will stick to your fingers like glued on and or will stick to each other if whetted. If you do use the seeds and grind them, consume them immediately afterward so as not to allow them time to become rancid. Just use the flax seed oil instead but be careful about the flax seed oil you buy. It should be produced in a nitrogen environment as flax seed oil is extremely reactive with oxygen of the air and will become rancid quickly if exposed to unrestricted oxygen in the air for any length of time. It is said to be 30 times as reactive as sunflower oil. Further, it should be sold in a brown glass bottle as it can react just from exposure to light. Also, once bought and opened, it should be closed again right after you take out the oil you want to use, and then put back in the fridge where it's dark and cold immediately in order to keep it fresh and to maintain its health benefits for the body. Also, the oil you buy should not have any preservatives in it or it defeats the health benefit of the flax seed oil you're seeking. You can take flax seed oil alone as an antiviral or anti inflammatory. But, the Budwig protocol for cancer requires low fat cottage cheese or quark combined with flax seed oil in order to act as an oxygen carrier in the body to combat the cancer. In the case of cancer, Budwig warns that taking flax seed oil by itself shouldn't be done at all. Also, I think it is best to prepare your budwig protocol just before use to maintain it in the freshest state. I make Budwig shakes. To do this I put a third of a cup of low fat cottage cheese in a blender and add to that two tablespoons of flaxseed oil. I also usually add half an apple and half an orange but you can add whatever fruit you like. I then add just enough 1% butter fat milk to allow it to blend as low fat is important and pour that mixture when blended into a regular beer glass for dirinking. Budwig also allowed or even suggested the adding of a bit of honey. Perhaps the honey helps pull the respiratory enzyme created by the mixture into the cancer cells. When my son had cancer, the Budwig shake was the only alternate protocol we tried that brought his cancer markers to normal and below. FWIW

Castor oiled failed for me. I used cold pressed, hexane free castor oil not only for 8-9 days as Al Miller have suggested, but for a whole month with no results. My eye floaters still remain. I used one drop per day in the afternoon. I had no infection at all even though the castor oil is not sterile. If I used it just before bed time though I had much eye in the morning so I abadoned night use.
Be carefull, because it is oil, if someone has a RCE (recurrent corneal errosion) it can deteriorate the cornea and make the epithelium stick off with ease even while not sleeping! I had that case and stopped the use in my left eye allthough it was fine for months.

Hi Catherina, I must have gotten my eye floaters starting when I was in my mid to late 50s. No, they do not get more visible when I don't eat beets, but they don't get better either. Every time I eat beets they become more translucent, fainter and smaller. Now I am in my 60s. I also see some improvement as well when I eat avocados and maybe olives, but not to the same extent as beets. But I combine all those things in a salad with tomatoes and a few other vegetables and it makes me feel so good after eating it. My eyesight becomes sharper. And the big floaters I had are almost gone now.

I would like to share some topics I found through research after experiencing my own floaters. Tight neck muscles can cause stress on the muscles around the eyes influencing the flow in the vessels that feed the eyes & numerous other facets of eye functionality. Weak liver, kidney & adrenal function may all play a part. Mental stress for the same reason as tight neck muscles. Imperfect vision. Stress from the above added to contact wear, glasses wear & computer work.
What helped; easy access to public for free:
~Shiatsu massage weekly (or research and learn how to work all the muscles around the eyes (refrain from pushing on the eyeball).
~Reflexology points on the hands or feet daily to promote health in the liver, kidney & adrenals.
~Stretching the neck: specific to scalene muscles, upper traps, occipital region. Minor stretch with oil if excessively tight as overdoing a stretch can worsen the pull on vessels and cause inflammation.
~Develop mental healing skills. If stressed try EFT (tapping).
~Nutritional helps: B vitamins, beet juice or supplement, vitamin C, liquid chlorophyll a few drops to a bottle of water, vitamin A
~Exercises to improve vision. Research the Bates Method. He has a free e-book online that explains much about vision. Many individuals have copied his free material & placed packages for sale.

I had flashes in the corner of my right eye too. I saw them everytime I looked to the right. It was very scary. I had an osteopathic treatment. The osteopath worked on my neck and head and the flashes were gone! It was a miracle! I think floaters and flashes have something to do with stones in the liver. One year later I drank hot ginger water as a treatment for a blocked liver and on the 11th day, I got flashes again! Luckily they weren't lasting this time. There's also a doctor in the Netherlands who claims flashes are connected with a B12 shortage.

Just try l-carnosine eye drops for eye floaters. Forget the Budwig diet with flax and cottage cheese.
1. can-c
2. Bright eyes
You might have to order them online but they exist and reduce your floaters amazingly well. Use them as much as you want - the more the better. No side effects except your eyes feel a million times better. They are a miracle so try them if you have bad floaters. Forget diets, looking into the moon or sun & any other stupid old remedy - just get those drops and start using them alot.
Then get back online and tell people - maybe the eye community can make those eye doctors tell us about these drops even if they aren't a prescription. They don't seem to recognize them - which led me to get my 2nd floater - if I had used them when I got the first one - I never would have got this second one and my life would have been way better.

It is now two weeks since starting the Can-C eye drop and L-Carnosine capsule regimen for eye floaters. I am currently using two drops of Can-C, one in the morning and one in the evening as well as one 500 mg L-Carnosine capsule per day. There is no discernible improvement in the eye floaters at this time. There is, however, significant improvement in eye comfort. My eyes are feeling normal and not congested or dry as before. I don't think the improvement is due entirely to this regimen as I am also following a dry eye regimen described else where on this page. However, I think this regimen is helping as well. I also have had a chronic lingering low level sinus infection. I have recently used a 5% Boric acid solution nasal spray in the evening before bed for that condition. It is significantly improved after only a few applications. I have only used two or three sprays in each nostril before bed time about three times and my sinuses are feeling quite normal now. I believe this has significantly reduced the infection in and around my eyes and likely has also contributed to the improved comfort of my eyes.

Hi Francisca, Sharon and John. I also have used Adelle Davis' books Let's Eat Right and Let's Get Well for at least 30 years and have found solutions to many health problems through them. The way I have come to look at our bodies is that they are biological machines and like any machine require certain things to operate properly. I we look at a car and you didn't have gas in the tank, or water in the radiator, or air in the tires, etc. , you'd have problems. The same is true of our bodies. If you don't have vitamin B1 you get beri beri. If you don't get vitamin A you go blind. If you don't have enough vitamin C you get scurvy. In fact, a vitamin can't be classed as a vitamin unless it can be demonstrated that you'll get some specific disease without it. Similarly, minerals play an important role in our bodies. Without iodine your thyroid gland can't produce thyroxin. Without iron your body can't produce hemoglobin. And sodium and potassium play an important role in maintaining the proper balance in bodily fluids, transport of substances into and out of cells as well as energy production and messaging in the body. In short, our bodies are a tremendous conglomerate of many systems that make use of many chemicals and minerals in the fulfillment of their functions. The reason I mention these things is that Adelle Davis among other things held a Masters of Science Degree in Biochemistry. As a result, she was able to gain unique incites into how the body functions and what illnesses might result from the deficiency of an essential nutrient necessary to a certain body function. And, if you reverse that she was often able to see that certain illnesses were the likely result of some nutrient deficiency. Adelle didn't have all the answers and the knowledge of biochemistry is increasing very quickly, but if a scientific fact was really true back then, it will still be true today like water will always be H20. After I read Adelle Davis' Let's Eat Right, I was hooked. It explained in simple understandable language the effects of so many nutrients and their functions within the body. Ever since, I have been a student of nutrition and I don't just accept things like there's no cure for dry eyes of eye floaters like my optometrist said a week ago. I seem to have already found a solution to my dry eye problem and am reading this forum looking for ideas on eye floaters. I have often found that it is like detective work. You just keep searching and reading. And, you pick up a clue here and a clue there until you get and understanding of the problem and then hopefully a solution. I believe Adelle Davis' Let's Eat Right should be read by everyone. It's not all knowing but a great place for anyone to start their researches. IMHO.

For eye floaters - use the l-carnosine eye drops.
1. can-c
2. eye bright
there are others. Use them 4x a day or more - 2 drops in each eye - its a miracle. Then write back with your testimonial. They worked for me and I had bad floaters that made me want to cry. They are 80% gone after using the drops religiously everyday for 6 months now and I will continue praying that they will disappear one day.
After 2 weeks they had cleared up by about 50% so I know they work!

Homeopathic Euphrasia 1M works very fast on eye floaters. For me it was 24 hours and only one small one left. You order the 1M (not mg) size online by searching for euphrasia 1M. Inexpensive-6 or 7 dollars. Take one pellet under your tongue at bedtime. Caution, coffee, minty toothpaste and strong food flavors nullify the action of the pellet, so if you are a nighttime toothbrusher, brush with water. No side effects, and after 2 days, mine were totally gone.
I am 71, so it was age related. l don't know if it is a cure yet, but there are a lot of pellets if needed.

Eye floaters do not necessarily come from one aging. No one in my family has eye floaters, even my mom who is in her 70/s. I used a mascara that was given to me from Sephora brand which I never used before. Upon using their brand my eyes were all red and was burning. I went to the doctor and was told a chemical in the mascara. I am a very sensitive person when it comes to certain products. I never used any of these products again. However, I am using origins plant based mascara and did not have this problem. My eyes were extremely red and inflamed from the chemically mascara. I am taking lysine, digestive enzymes' and taurine. When I am stressed they show up more. The only thing I am able to control them with proper nutrition and some eye exercises along with a good eye vitamin.
