Red Onion is a valuable remedy for thyroid problems because of its powerful antioxidant properties. These properties stimulate the immune system and help it to function optimally. When the function of the immune system becomes strong it automatically corrects the dysfunction of the thyroid gland and helps to manufacture the correct quantity of hormones.

Internal : Onion also has anti-inflammatory properties which rectify an under active thyroid. Eating raw onions is a good way of improving your thyroid function.

Topical : Dr Igor Knjazkin from St Petersburg has come up with an effective treatment that enhances the function of your thyroid gland, and it uses red onions. This method does not require any special preparation. All you have to do is slice an onion in the evening, so it releases its healing juices. Use the halves to massage your neck in the area of your thyroid gland. Do not rinse off the juice, and go straight to bed. The juices will do their magic while you are sleeping.

Use a citrus squeeze press and squeeze the juice out of a red onion. Rub the juice into the neck before bedtime. Go to bed without washing your neck so that the onion juice can take effect throughout the night. Onion juice naturally enables the function of the thyroid gland. It is known that onions clean the skin, kill bacteria, and the phosphoric acid enters the bloodstream and miraculously helps to purify the blood.

Note by Rob: A few years ago my buddy Neal, his wife (she lives in the Philippines on a remote Island), anyway she was suffering from an enlarged thyroid. We were talking via facebook “facetime” video conference. Due to her remote living they had nothing as medicine available. So I told her to strap a sliced red onion to her neck. She did it and in a few weeks the swelling in her neck was gone!
