I've discovered this also works for hiccups:
1. Sit down on ground.
2. Put your head between your knees.
3. Hold breath for as long as you can.

Wow this really does work I just tried this and my hiccups were gone instantly. Just make sure you're not sucking in your stomach otherwise you won't be breathing through with your diaphragm.

growing up my parents would always give us sugar and vinegar (the vinegar gets rid of the hiccups, and the sugar makes it taste better). all you have to do is get a teaspoon of sugar, pour enough vinegar on top to make the sugar wet, and as soon as you get it down the hiccups are gone

This simple remedy really worked: I put some water in my mouth, bent over forward with my head pointed to my toes, and then swallowed. After that, my hiccups were instantly gone!

Yes, this is a great remedy for hiccups and my mom used to give this to us kids growing up. One teaspoon always did the trick. I never heard before that there was a special way to take this, but I do know that eating that whole teaspoon of white sugar never failed. Honey would be more nutritious than white sugar, but I don't know if honey would work for hiccups.

Let me give you my cure for hiccups. I have been using this method for years and have never had it fail to work. Before I found this cure I would sometimes get the hiccups and it would last for hours. I use regular white sugar. Use 1 heaping teaspoon but the key is how you do it. You have to hold your breath and then dump the sugar down your throat all at one time and swallow it and keep on holding your breath for as long as possible. It will not work if you don't hold your breath. It really does work. I know this is a problem for a lot of people so, good luck!

How to cure hiccups 95% of the time. Vinegar, it doesn't matter what kind. The trick is to find the most sour thing you can. Make sure you take a good amount. 1 spoonfull is all you need. If you make a face when taking it, then it will work. Lemon juice, lime juice or anything super sour will work. It's weird because you expect the next hiccup to come and it never does. Guaranteed to work or your money back. lol

Wow, this really worked for me! I had hiccups this past weekend. Whenever I come down with them I tend to get them multiple times (4-5) for the rest of that day. After reading this post and getting them twice later in the night, I took a quick capful of Apple Cider Vinegar, and instantly my hiccups ceased! I got them again about an hour later and again took them down with the vinegar cure!

Holding breath. The drinking remedies are all related to holding breath because you HAVE to hold your breath as you drink.

I have a similar remedy for hiccups. It takes water and the help of a friend. Have the person with hiccups drink about 1/2 glass of water (4-6 oz.), breathing normally. While they are drinking, someone else must pull up their earlobes. Works every time. Even on babies. Just hold up their earlobes while they're drinking their bottle.
Drink Water With Spoon in It

Hi, Jerry from Albany Ny again..I just wrote to you about my hemorrhoids problem and hopefully you'll email me back with your suggestions. However, I just remembered a cure for Hiccups that an old time waitress gave my friend and I after we were out drinking and stopped for breakfast.
She told my friend (who was hicupping for about half-hr. that she would be right back..She came back with a "Glass" not plastic of water with a spoon in it..She told him to drink the water but you must let the spoon constantly touch your cheek..
Believe it or not, when he finished drinking the glass of water his hiccups stopped and never came back..
I thoght it was just luck, but several wks later at my sister's house she got the hiccups and I told her to do the same and she did and yep, they went away again...Fate, luck or whatever...
I would pass it on...
thanks...
Jerry..

Rub your right earlobe between your thumb and forefinger as soon as hiccups begin. This has worked for myself, my son, and a variety of others I have told.

As an adult, I've found myself getting hiccups more often than I used to (once every week or two), especially over the last 3-4 years.
Whenever I get the hiccups, my boyfriend is there for me with the sugar because it really, really works.
When swallowing the sugar, I try to make sure it goes to the back of my throat so I can swallow it rather than just eating it. Otherwise, it doesn't work as well. As a previous YEA responder said, you should make sure you swallow the sugar at once or it may take a 2nd packet/spoonful or not work at all.
I've never had a bout of hiccups last past 2 packets of sugar since I found this remedy a few years back, and will carry sugar with me wherever I go for the rest of my life.
Wonderful cheap, fast remedy!

I had hiccups for two days with my only relief coming when I was asleep. I found the remedy on this site and decided to give it a try, especially since the remedy for tonsilitis worked so well. I took a tbsp of ACV and the effect was immediate relief! The hiccups were gone upon ingestion! Amazing!
Sweet Potato

Hi there, If the tsp. of sugar stops working for your husband's hiccups, you might try something I remember a doctor telling me about years ago. He said he was involved in caring for a patient severely injured in an automobile accident. One day the man's brother came to visit and asked how he was doing. They told him the patient seemed to be doing ok at the present but they were unable to stop his constant hiccupping. He said the brother replied, "I can fix that" and left, returning with a sweet potato which he cut in half and placed the cut side of 1/2 of the potato over the patient's navel. According to the doctor, the patient's hiccups stopped instantly and they threatened anyone who dared to move that 1/2 sweet potato from his umbilical area with mayhem.

My husband is undergoing chemotherapy right now for large Bcell lymphoma. He experiences hiccups after he eats which started right after his first treatment. He doesn't eat fast or gulp air when he eats so we ruled that out. Seems to be a common experience as we read on the internet. We found that a teaspoon of sugar really works! Once he took it the hiccups stopped immediately. Hope other cancer patients read this.

Hello, I wanted to add that the 2+1 BREATH method for hiccups which requires you to take three deep breaths, and then on the third breath, hold it as long as you can, as described by Jess works. I had the hiccups and the above method cured them immediately. Thanks again earth clinic (and Jess)!
