This works!! I was in agony last night from a throbbing toothache, I couldn't even sleep let alone lay down. My head was throbbing due to my toothache then I thought about my handy dandy site Earth Clinic and boom! I keep herbs and stuff on hand so I had cloves in my kitchen cabinet, I used the whole clove and crushed it a bit or you can just remove the sharp part and put it right on your gums where the pain is and it's gone! Took about 5-10 minutes. Now I will be able to get some sleep tonight.. Thank you guys for this gem!!

I have been doing the OP, Black Walnut extract, rinsing mouth out with half drop of tea tree oil and water, dash of salt-cayenne pepper-baking soda, trying to get gums to grow back, re-mineralize teeth w/homemade toothpaste to up minerals needed {teeth were looking transparent, now don't}. molar on upper left of jaw hurt so bad, could wiggle it.(wiggleing it once was quite enough}
I put a whole clove in pastic sandwich bag and mashed it with a hammer, put clove on tooth, chewed it gingerly. Did not realize tooth was swollen-but swelling and pain is gone now! Will be able to make and wait for dental appt. without being in exceeding pain.

Using whole cloves for toothache remedy.
It really does work, I made a satchel of whole cloves, bashed it with a hammer, and gnawed at it for 15 min....finally relief!

I have been dealing with partial root canal for the past few months, and after a few weeks the temporary filling was lost. For someone like me who hates the dentist I couldn't find the time to go back... I used dental wax as a temporary filling but that didn't last and over the week the crown of my tooth that was remaining, broke off leaving the roots in my jaw and crack. I went to the dentist and he performed an emergency extraction after 45(broke it pretty good) I was on pain medication for two days with little relief. I found the website and looked through the list I had many and started going to the list. In my cabinets I found pure vanilla extract (instant relief), sea salt mouth rinse, hydrogen peroxide and garlic cloves all worked but didn't last long. Looked in my spices and found ground cloves and I mixed it with some black tea in a little pouch from the tea bags and to my amazement it worked!! Instant relief, didn't taste well but it worked!! I Recommend to people that might be skeptical to try the options found in this site for many alternatives to getting better.

I went to the dentist for a crown on one side and onlay on the other and was in excruciating pain. Called my dentist and was told to take 2 advils and 3 extra strength tylenol, the equivalent of Vicodin. No improvement. Called back and was told take 4 advils, the equivalent of Motrin. Still in pain. Called back and was told I could take 2 more advils. Instead, turned to EC and read about clove. Put it on gums around teeth and it immediately went to work and I was able to go to sleep. Woke up no pain. Thank you EC.

When recently I experienced a "puss bag" along the upper gum line, I knew it signified infection, but due to extensive dental work, I had no idea exactly where. I came here and saw how many reviewers spoke highly of clove oil. I used powdered cloves in some olive oil, soaked a cotton ball and applied for puss bag for 10 mins. I also placed another soaked cotton ball on suspected source of infection (which strangely enough was on the opposite side.of the jaw), and this took care of it in one application! I was amazed and grateful. Then I remembered that when I was a kid and had a toothache at school one day, the school secretary went and bought a product called Jiffy with small formed cotton balls that could be.placed on a sore tooth on the end of a toothpick -, this product was nothing more than clove oil. Thank you, Earth Clinic. Another round of antibiotics avoided!!

I have a toothache. Been going off and on for a few weeks. I am waiting until the dentist can see me. I read about the clove oil and ground cloves. All I had was ground cloves. I put some ground clove around the tooth and the pain is quite diminished. Tastes nasty though but anything to stop the pain.

Cloves really work. I woke up with a throbbing swollen tooth This morning. I tried salt rinse, peroxide rinse, teabag, garlic, nothing worked. Teabag and garlic made it throb even more, rushed to local health store and got cloves powder, packed it on the tooth, pain reduced still throbbing after 15 mins. Will try colloidal silver next.

WOW!!! That is all I can say for CLOVES!!! I found this site after searching for a home remedy for this cavity pain I have been having for days.... And everyone kept saying to use cloves.... Typically skeptical, I continued just the use of the prescription pain medication I use normally for my lower lumbar pain and Orajel... The meds seemed to not have any effect on the pain whatsoever and the Orajel only lasted for a few minutes.... At this point I was willing to try anything to just tolerate the pain! So, to the cupboard I went and found a jar of whole cloves.... Put the whole clove inside the hole of the cavity and INSTANTLY the pain seemed to subside!!! I only held the clove there momentarily and I am still in shock that it worked so fast! It has been over an hour and I still barely feel the pain... So THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I cannot wait to tell everyone how well this worked!! I believe I will make certain I always have a jar of cloves for an emergency like this again in the future!!!

After reading ths stuff on this site I choose to go to vitamin shop and for 6 bucks got clove bud oil got my tooth psin. I came home tested the taste and it was horrid. The dropper was odd so I choose to put it on a tooth brush and brush my teeth. Fitst the opposed side of the pain and I swished to check for pain tolerance. Then the teeth above the problem area. Finally I brushed my entire mouth and I got really fast pain relief. In the medicine cabinet it went. I may report back with how long it lasts. It's cheap enough where I can brush, then eat a real meal for a change then go back to being cautious. ^5 for better eating lol.

About 2 months ago I started developing a toothache in a tooth I already have had a root canal and crown on. It was very sensitive to pressure (not to cold - which tells me the nerves inside are dead) and was starting to throb and ache more and more. I had almost resigned myself to go to the dentist where the solution would likely have been to pull it - what else would they do? Maybe they would have tried to treat it first with antibiotics. Anyway, I got on Earth Link looking for advice on temporary relief. After reading through a bunch of what people said I decided to synthesize a couple of the solutions. I spent about $18 on activated charcoal capsules and clove oil and mixed the two with a little olive oil into a paste. I put it in an emptied tea bag and used it as a compress between my cheek and gum next to the affected tooth. I left it there about an hour in the evening. I also put a couple of drops of clove oil on a cotton ball and held it against the area on the with my tongue for awhile at the same time. I just spit the nasty saliva in a cup because I didn't want to swallow it and I was worried the cloves might upset my stomach. That night it provided temporary relief, though I could still tell something was wrong and I still had the referred pain in my cheek and lower teeth on the same side.
However, in the morning I woke up early and went out to breakfast with someone. It wasn't until I got home that I realized my tooth not only didn't hurt anymore but that I'd been chewing on that side of mouth without even thinking about it. I was expecting the pain to return but it hasnt yet - there has been no recurrence at all in the last two months.
Since then I provided this information to a friends wife who was suffering with a temporary crown and she had similar results, she treated the area twice.
NOTE: My local store didn't have clove oil so the first try I just put ground cloves in with the activated charcoal. It might have provided some relief but it was negligible.

WOW! I LOVE this site! Toothache pain is the worst but THANK GOD for natural cures. I gargled with a couple of drops of clove oil in a quarter cup of hot water for a few seconds and within just a few minutes every single trace of pain was gone!!!! Clove oil is a God-send!

★★★☆☆WORKED TEMPORARILY
Tried clove powder on my painful broken tooth w/ cavity. Worked for a day then stopped. Tried clove oil and oregano oil, also tried baking soda. All worked for a day and stopped. Had to resort to pain pills but have keeped with taking clove and oregano oil diluted in olive oil(needs diluting or will burn)for infection. After a week or so of taking pain pills the pain has mysteriously faded to an ache. Will continue with natural antibiotics till I can have the tooth pulled. Very sad the natural stuff didn't work for the pain.

I had a really bad toothache with throbbing pain radiating out from my tooth and taking over half of my head. I tried the clove essential oil on a cotton swab rubbed on and around my tooth. My pain is gone. I have to reapply it every 4-6 hours when it starts hurting just a little again. It is really strong tasting, so I have a glass of juice ready to get the taste out after I apply it. Thanks for the good advice, Earth Clinic!

I love oil of cloves. I had a tooth extracted on Monday and the next day I had a dry socket. I went to the dentist on Thursday and they packed it, which was very painful. I read here about oil of cloves and went to my local health food store today and bought oil of cloves. I 1st put it on a piece of gauze with very little relief, I then put it on a Qtip and put it on the tooth site and I have NO PAIN now. Thank you so very much for this site.
God Bless
