I love oil of cloves. I had a tooth extracted on Monday and the next day I had a dry socket. I went to the dentist on Thursday and they packed it, which was very painful. I read here about oil of cloves and went to my local health food store today and bought oil of cloves. I 1st put it on a piece of gauze with very little relief, I then put it on a Qtip and put it on the tooth site and I have NO PAIN now. Thank you so very much for this site.

God Bless

I never post to these kind of sites but now I have to. I had been struggling with a toothache so bad that I was ready to pull the thing out with a pliers. I tried tea bags, salt water, listerine, pain killers, everything. After a day and a half of agony I found this site and I went out and bought ground clove. I applied it directly to the tooth that hurt and it feels SO much better! I still have a bit of a nagging pain and a headache but NOTHING near what it was before. Highly recommended.

I have been dealing with a toothache that has been radiating through my mouth all week long. I have been in so much pain and even strong pain killers were not providing an ounce of relief. I was also using tons of numbing solutions only to find myself in pain again a few minutes later. My Mom pulled up your site as we usually do (I don't know why we didn't do it sooner) and after reading the feedback about clove oil, went right out to find some. It was hard to find, major chains and vitamin shops didn't carry it but we do have a wonderful whole foods shop that did carry it. So when the pain fired up again this evening.. I put some of the Clove oil onto a gauze pad and held it down on the area that has been bothering me the most and I can't believe the results. I'm sitting here pain free. It seemed to work very quickly too.

Acmella Oleracea

Acmella oleracea, also known as Spilanthes acmella or toothache plant, is a natural analgesic which numbs the tongue and gums. Chewing a young bud results in extremely strong tingling and numbing effect. You can also make a tincture using 1 part herb (buds, flowers, leaves)1 part water, and 5 parts ethanol. Let stand for 2 to 3 weeks shaken occasionally. Apply to affected area with cotton wool.

Activated Charcoal

Yes! The activated charcoal STOPPED my TOOTH ACHE within minutes. I opened 1 activated charcoal capsule, poured on saucer, added drops of water, which a made runny paste, put it on my finger and then rub it on the gum above my aching tooth. When the tooth would start to feel like it was beginning to ache again, I added this charcoal mixture, and it stopped the pain.

Oil Pulling

I have been swishing with coconut oil several times a week. Two benefits I have noticed is 1->my yellow canine teeth have whitened considerably (I have tried without success bleaching, baking soda and peroxide, etc). 2->My sensitivity in my teeth have decreased dramatically. I have not been able to keep the coconut oil in for more than 10 minutes so far because my jaws seem to get so tired and I have such a desire to cough from the congestion it seems to pull from my sinuses, I always end up spitting it out after 10 mins or less. I also only do the swishing 3 or 4 times a week (due to forgetfulness). I am hoping to work my way up to the 20 mins every day because of the positive effects on my teeth.

Sesame Oil

Absolutely try the sesame oil, cold pressed or otherwise. Then next time try to find a lighter oil and try that to see the difference. I have found that warm sesame oil is one of the best things for a toothache too. Better yet, boil sesame seeds in water until the water is reduced to half, then apply the sesame seed mixture to the toothache area and you will experience no pain for up to 6 hours

Oil Pulling

I just discovered this site today, but wanted to share my experience. I read about oil pulling two months ago and thought it would be good to try for painful tooth that 3 dentists gave me 3 different diagnoses on. Bought a large bottle of pure sesame oil and pulled three mornings in a row with one tablespoon of oil. On the third day I noticed I had a slight sore throat. Two days later that was followed by what appeared to be the flu for four days (I now know that was the Herkximer reaction). The curious thing is I had no fever or digestive compliants the entire time of said "flu" - bad nasal congestion, eyes hurt like a headache and horrible coughing. When it was over I noticed that I was able to chew on the left side of my mouth which I had not been able to do for a few months! Was it the oil pulling? I seriously suspect so. If you were a bad microbe and could not produce your own food, where would you choose to live in the human body? Close to where the food comes in, right?

Oil of Oregano

Oil of Oregano is by far the number 1 remedy for tooth pain. I suffered from pain after having a crown put in. I was scheduled to go back to the dentist for a procedure to have the crown drilled to remove nerve endings to put a stop to the pain. Well, I bought a bottle of Oil of Oregano that had 70% carvacrol, brand name Solaray. I put a few drops on a cotton ball and placed it on the bad tooth and just bit down. It was kept there for about 15 minutes but, just after about 1 minute I could feel instant relief. Oregano oil worked for all my friends that had a tooth problem too! Oregano oil is NOT the herb in your kitchen cupboard, so don't make that mistake. It also works for other problems too and I always have a bottle in the house. No ands, ifs, or buts about it oregano oil will kill the pain almost immediately! Oh, I never had to go back to have anything done with my crown.

Oil Pulling

Oil pulling got rid of my tooth pain in just 3 days. I had a very painful toothache, my whole jaw and ear hurt from the pain. I could not get into see a dentist for two weeks. For several nights I could not sleep due to the pain. I tried several things first like splitting raw garlic and applying to both sides of tooth and gum area, it relieved it somewhat. I also tried rubbing with oregano oil I had in the medicine chest. I then found info on oil pulling on earth clinic. I was disparate, and tried it. I'm not sure if the garlic kicked in or the oregano....but soon I drifted off to sleep in much less pain. I used organic pure extra virgin coconut oil, unrefined, unbleached. I remember reading that this oil has antibacterial properties somewhere. I woke up the next morning and did it again. I also rubbed raw honey on he area, as I have read that has antibacterial properties as well. It was still hard to chew food for two days...but the pain was subsiding dramatically. By the fourth day I stopped oil pulling. And the pain continued to diminish and go away. I can chew good now and absolutely no pain. I am amazed! I'm curious as to what the dentist will find when I go to see him next week. Now today I did oil pulling again...going to do everyday to see if it whitens my teeth. Will keep you posted!

Tea Tree Oil

The other comments here look excellent.

I also just wanted to add that a few drops of tea tree oil and/or witchhazel, as helpful too- straight onto the gum with a finger or toothbrush (diluted in some oil or straight on seems fine for me too). It has helped me a lot- the pain had been unbearable, it took a couple of days both times I tried it. I'm not sure if its totally healed now this time, so I will continue this for a bit longer, and may try clove oil and/or garlic, cayenne, or oil pulling remedies too to compare their efficiency.

Be careful what you put out in the universe, keep it positive at all times! Yesterday there was a boring meeting I just did not feel like attending so I crossed my fingers and used the little "white lie" about a toothache! This morning I woke up to a throbbing in an upper molar, and drinking cold water set me over the edge! Grabbed a tiny bottle of pure Clove Oil. Applied two drops to outside of my cheek opposite my toothe, then one drop on gum area! I couldn't believe it...sure it's a tad bitter, but ten minutes later I am pain free...like magic!

Blackstrap Molasses

I used to get extremely painful toothaches. I remembered my mom telling me once about Blackstrap Molasses being full of nutrients (calcium and magnesium) in large amounts in general. So I thought I'd try it the next time my tooth ache occurred, and within half an hour, my tooth ache was completely gone. When my young daughters had growing pains, I decided to also try this on them: (1 tbsp) followed by any liquid (water ,milk, juice, just to wash it down). Her growing pain had stopped. As I had figured these tooth problems and shin aches may have been from a calcium/magnesium deficiency. The pain had left her in under half an hour. I believe from my own research that if the body does not get enough calcium it will leach it from other areas. thus the pain.
