Cayenne

I had a migraine coming on yesterday.. It was getting a bad enough to need something for it... I could feel the pulsating vein in the side of my head. I decided to try cayenne pepper to see if I could stop it.

Last time I drank the cayenne mixed with hot water and I did feel a bit sick afterward so I decided to try something different.

I grabbed a pinch of cayenne and put it directly under my tongue and left it there. I thought I felt pretty quick relief as the pulsating vein seemed to be less noticeable, but the pain was still there. I added a pinch of cayenne a few more times under my tongue, swallowing the excess cayenne along the way. Doesn't taste too good but better than a whole cup of hot cayenne tea. It is a bit painful and you do salivate a lot. I also put a pinch of cayenne directly on the tip of my tongue and left it there.

Well I can say it got slowly better and then vanished (within 1/2 an hour to an hour). Normally it would just get worse until I take about 3 panadol.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Most people say that the pills don't work, just as regular apple cider vinegar (the clear stuff) does not work as well. The cloudy vinegar...that has the Mother in it seems to be the best choice. One suggestion I have for you is to put the vinegar in fruit juice (apple is my favorite) and much easier to drink. I don't know where this idea came from that you have to drink it in water with honey. Try it with juice, it's much better. Another thing to try is to drink it with a straw which will get the liquid to the back of the throat without tasting it as much.

One other thing.....never put your vinegar in the fridge, the mother is a living thing and the cold will kill it.

I woke up a few times during the night with a dull migraine. In the morning it was still there. As I had been reading about Cayenne being good for opening veins for blood flow and being good for the heart (in stopping a heart attack in its' tracks), I figured that it would be good for migraine as well. I took about 1/2 tspsn in hot water as soon as I got out of bed and the migraine vanished practically straight away. It did not return all day. Usually when I wake up with a migraine that I have had all night it stays with me all day. Anyone with heart problems should seriously research cayenne and keep some with them at all times.

One month ago, I came across this site in search of help for my chronic headaches and migraines. Over the Counter meds didn't seem to touch my pain and while my prescription meds did help take the migraines away... it didn't help with the daily headaches. I was so tired of having headaches. I just wanted to make it one day without the pain of my head pounding! After reading the feedback of others, I thought I had nothing to lose by trying APPLE CIDER VINEGAR. So I did.... and IT WORKED! I couldn't believe it. I have been taking 1 ACV tab 2 times a day. I have not had a migraine since (I was having 3 or 4 a month) and although I have had a few "regular" headaches, it's nothing like before. Not only has ACV helped my headaches, it has also help with my allergies. ACV may not work for everyone, but I am so thankful that it worked for me!

I have been using Cayenne pepper to treat my Migraines. I take 2 small caps. and an over the counter pain reliever. I DO NOT take any "Migraine" Medication with Cayenne pepper. But I find that it works great. I also take cayenne pepper the day after a migrain to get rid of the remnants of it.

ACV treated my sinus infection! I came across this website looking for a treatment for my recurrent sinus infections that no antibiotics ever took care of, and based on all the reviews I tried the ACV treatment. It worked in ONE DAY!! I can't believe it, because I am a doctor, and am a little wary of home remedies. I did the 2 tbsp in 8 oz of water, and in one day I didn't have as much sinus pressure, and by the second day the constant drainage from the infection had stopped, and my migraines which I have had on and off for years also have not returned. In addition, my bad breath from the infection is gone, and I don't have to constantly be chewing gum anymore! I definitely will be doing this treatment everyday for a very long time, and I've found if you eat just a little bit of bread or crackers with the ACV you don't get heartburn. To anyone who's suffering from a sinus infection, just try this, it doesn't cost you much money at all, and if you've suffered from sinus infections as much as I have, you owe it to yourself to give this a shot!!! Best wishes to all!

I take ACV 2TBS in 8oz water taking sips all through the day. I was bloated all month and had water retention 10 days before my period. I was miserable i tried everything , diet change , pills homeopathic, and my husband is a physician and he gave all kind of medicines but still everything just could not solve my problem. i was annoyed all the time because i do not know what my exact size was and i was restless all the time , never comfortable, in sitting or lying down. Then looking for cure on internet in homeopathy somebody mentioned earth clinic, and i went to the site, and from that day my life changed. After reading about ACV I got up and mix one TS in one glass of water and without thinking i drank it . After 10 minutes my head suddenly clear and then my migraine was gone which I have been having for the last 10 years every week and i do not know how many pandols i have taken for that.----Well for the last 2 months, I am bloat free, water retention free, migraine free, and i am feeling comfortable for the first time in last 10 years. I have lost 10 pounds and I know my exact size now. Plus I had very bad dandruff and hair acne and twice a week I have been washing my hair with ACV and after two months I am free of dandruff and acne. There was no change initially except my migraine was gone but suddenly after one month before my periods i started noticing changes. No bloatedness and water retention and i had lost weight. I am thankful to all of u, whoever started this site. This has truly helped me. My doctor husband cannot believe it.

Just try it. Even if u don't see results initially it will show some benefits, later. I am hooked for life and i am giving it to my teenager son and daughter.

Denise,

The vitamin D and ALA are noted for helping with migraines in some people :

Here is a relevant quote :

' According to the current findings, vitamin D supplementation in episodic migraineurs, particularly in those with migraine with aura, may potentially improve migraine headache characteristics and disability probably through attenuating CGRP levels. '

Pencil Massage
Posted by Alelen (Poland) on 12/16/2018
★★★★★

With my migraine attacks, I managed to massage my head with a pencil or charcoal, made in a certain way:

First, massage the right half of the head, then the left. I never crossed the center line. I started from the base of the nose, eyebrow arch to my temple. I was returning to the root of my nose with the side of the central line of the forehead, towards the base of my hair and towards, behind my ear. I drove lightly along the lines, stopping for moments in the points where the light pressure brought relief. Then, circular movements on the skull, then sliding down the side of the cervical spine to the shoulder blade. On the shoulder blade, I made several times a fast sweeping motion from one blade to the other and only in this place I passed from right to left. And I started everything from the beginning this time, the left hemisphere.

If I did this massage, when the migraine started, it was enough once that the attack did not occur. When I let in a lot of pain, sometimes I had to repeat it all two or three times. I had terrible attacks of migraines, many years. When I started using my idea with a pencil, the attacks quieted down until they stopped. I have not had migraines since 2005.

I should not hide it for myself. Unfortunately, no one treats it seriously when hearing the word pencil. And this is about graphite (carbon variety), which I simply collect electrons from the surface of my head. The massage pencil should be blown, of course, but not sharp. Preferably HB.

Since I do not speak English and I use a Google translator, I apologize for any errors in the translation.

Celery juice has been a MIRACLE for me. JUST celery juice alone...no other fruit or veggies. Drink on an empty stomach is best but if you can't drink whenever. I had migraines for years and drinking celery juice every day - one cup - CURED them.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Update: I awoke with a migraine headache and tried two tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar by mouth first. Within about one and a half hours, the severity had been reduced from an 8 on a scale of 10 to about a 2. I must add that I also drank coffee, but I will be using the ACV first from now on.

Botox

All good advise from Ben, but back to the question of Borax. Yes, Borax is also effective against mycoplasma infections and a good first option before running for the few good Dr's that can do the service that was suggested by Ben.

I have only recently made major progress on a longstanding myco infection which was too severe for oral Borax administration, so I got smart and started whole body hot baths w/ about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of Borax. You may also consider making a paste of Borax and apply directly to the affected area, or make a simple Borax poultice.

Magnesium

Magnesium supplement taken daily will prevent migraines even when chronic lifelong recurrence has been the norm. In some cases, it also dramatically increases the ability to sleep soundly where this has been a concurrent issue though improved sleep is a benefit experienced by a minority of migraine sufferers using supplementary magnesium.

5-HTP
Posted by Melissa (Phoenix, Az) on 09/16/2014
★☆☆☆☆

WARNING!

I was super excited about taking 5-htp, as I use Imitrex and from what I read 5-htp seemed pretty much like a natural Imitrex. Imitrex imitates serotonin and basically alters the body's pain reception for migraines. (or something to that effect).

5-htp is a precursor to serotonin, which means your body will take 5-htp, convert it to serotonin and it in theory will act like Imitrex. Though that's where the awesomeness ended for me.

I have a few major warnings for anyone interested in 5-htp:

1) You cannot use it if you are pregnant

2) You cannot use it with many anti-depressants

3) You cannot use it within about 24 hours before or after you use Imitrex. Both anti-depressants that increase serotonin and Imitrex that imitates serotonin used with 5-htp that creates even more serotonin can cause a serotonin overdose and can be fatal.

4) I did more research on it and it turns out that 5-htp is a chemical by-product of L-tryptophan, which is responsible for making serotonin in our bodies. They used to sell tryptophan supplements but after many people started developing eosinophilia-myalgia syndrome, an incurable muscle and blood disease, from these supplements, as they were tainted, they banned the sale of tryptophan supplements in the US. (This happened mainly due to one large manufacturer going cheap, but who's to say this won't happen again with 5-htp??)

There have already been a few cases of eosinophilia-myalgia syndrome being caused by 5-htp supplements to date and that got me thinking: "Is taking this 5-htp to hopefully have a cheaper more 'natural' form of Imitrex worth it?" I decided it wasn't worth it.

I just want to warn those who are thinking about taking 5-htp that just because it's natural doesn't make it safer, and just because they sell it doesn't mean it's guaranteed safe. Supplements are not regulated by the FDA and only get any attention once a lot of people get sick from it. Use the information we are given to make the best decision for you. I ended up finding that Mint essential oil works really well for me and with no serious side effects. (or any at all for me)

I hope this helps someone, it would have been nice to have this all written for me when I was researching it. :)

Oil Pulling
Posted by Angie (Los Angeles, CA) on 04/28/2014
★★★★★

I accidentally found oil pulling as a migraine cure about an hour ago! I have had a migraine for many hours. I was getting ready to give up and go to bed, so I brushed my teeth, then decided to oil pull before I laid down.

I had no expectation of it affecting the headache, just thought I should get it in while I had some down time. But before I could even finish the 15 minutes, my migraine was GONE!

Makes me sad that I've suffered migraines for so many years and have also known about oil pulling, but never tied them together therapeutically. Either way, I can't wait till I get another migraine so I can see if it was a fluke, but by the way I feel and how quickly it just went away, I'm inclined to think I have stumbled upon something that works great, at least for me.

I hope those of you with migraines will also give it a try! It's worth a try! Incidentally, I was using an organic, first cold pressed sunflower seed oil.

I wish you all the best : ) I'll update next time I try it...

B Complex

I often get week long headaches during my menstrual cycle. This time, over the counter pain relief was not really working. After reading EC, I decided to try magnesium for relief. The magnesium did not work at all so I decided to try liquid b complex. I took one dose and nothing happened. Then, I took another dose and the headache was instantly gone. I decided to double the dose every day for the week and I felt GREAT!!! For anyone suffering from migraine type monthly headaches, please give this a try. I think the liquid supplement was able to be absorbed much faster than the pill form. Thank you EC!!!

5-HTP

It sounds like you might have tyramine-triggered migraines, rather than simply a gluten/casein sensitivity. Check out the list of foods that contain tyramine. Glad the 5-HTP is working. I'm looking for something to help my aunt, who suffers from migraines probably due to tyramine.

Feverfew

I have also found Feverfew exceptional for migraines.

I suffered from migraines before low air pressures, when going in the sun for too long and sometimes could be in bed for two or three days. Once I started taking feverfew on a regular basis the migraines left for ever. I don't need to take it these days, I sometimes get some of the migraine symptoms but not the blinding pain.

Feverfew
Posted by Dave (Fountain Inn, Sc) on 10/06/2011
★★★★★

I take a lot of ACV but it never helped my migranes. I have the classic ones; blurred vision, like a halo, then dull pain following along with nausea. The solution that has worked for 25 years: the herb feverfew. I take two tablets every other day. Feverfew is a natural dilator. My theory is that a large percent of migrane sufferers are genetically predisposed to depletion of their 'B" vitamins when under stress. The feverfew compensates the loss of B, especially B3. Yes, you can also compensate with B3 but the feverfew is much easier. The flush of B3 is sometimes a problem for some.

I have seen feverfew work dozens of times on long time migrane sufferers. Not all so called migranes, are really migranes. I found feverfew when used on the classic migrane works 90 percent of the time. And remember, you are not taking the feverfew AFTER the migraine hits; you are taking it daily as a preventative.

Alka Seltzer

Anitha, thank you. You are the only person I have known to confirm my experience. The very first migraine I ever had was unbearable. I couldn't sleep, and was throwing up. My husband came home, and brought me an Alka Seltzer original, in a glass of water. It gave me total and complete relief. No headache, no upset stomach, and I could sleep. My migraines have lessened in severity, over time, however. So my other favorite remedies for migraine are 1) a glass of whole milk with a chocolate bar, and 2) a pinch of cayenne pepper on the tip of my tongue for 30 seconds, followed by a glass of water.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Thank you everyone for for the glowing testimonies on acv. Ive had some around for yrs and was never able to really get used to drinking it until recently I got a new job and was getting a migraine like everyday. I was taking a popular migraine over the counter pill to get rid of it and I know that it was making me sick so I thought to look on here and thier were so many positive testimonies and I wanted to get off the medicine due to the caffine in it was hurting my bladder.

The first day I did like 5 rounds of the honey with the Apple Cider Vinegar in about 8oz of water the following day like 3 rounds then 2 then none for a day or 2. Never had a migraine since. Yay!!!!

So today I took a supplement that I had an allergic reaction to, lots of sneezing and this caused my bladder to leak. My eyes were horribly itching too. So I came back here and looked up allergies and here it was again ACV the cure all. Within a half hr all the allergy symptoms were completely gone. I am very greatful for this site and wanted to contribute due to the wonderful and simple effects of the ACV. What I love best is that anyone can afford it. I have a few health books by the braggs family and they are great but I really love this site best due to the specific testimonies. Thank you Ted for everything you do to help the health challenges of so many of us. Organic mama
