Exercise

You might not like this but I have read several times that women who exercise seriously ie sweat, increase pulse and respiration are much less likely to get breast cancer and much less likely to have menopause problems such as hot flashes.
Apple Cider Vinegar, Ginger, Stevia

Calcium tablets and vitamin E should help with Hot flashes. Watch your sugar and caffeine intake. Both of those triggle hot flashes. My cousin will have a hot flash within 20 minutes of consuming sugar.
Apple Cider Vinegar, Ginger, Stevia

I have been drinking a homemade ginger-stevia-acv mix and my hot flashes are still present but much lighter and last a minute or two. My night sweats are gone. Have been drinking as many as 4 glasses per day. Trying to drink as much as 8 glasses per day in hopes my hot flashes will go completely away. Ginger adds a wonderful tasting crispness. The mixture is quite pleasant to drink, better than drinking just Apple Cider Vinegar with water and honey. I use raw green stevia. Add 1 gallon of water to a large pot on top of the stove. Take a palm size piece of ginger, peel and grate. Using a hand held blade mixer is best. One you would use to mix individual drinks. Put this grated mixture in one gallon of good water, along with 1 heaping tsp. of green or white stevia. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium and let simmer for 15 minutes. Let cool and using a funnel and ladle pour back into the gallon container. When cooled, put ice into an 8 oz. glass and fill 1/4 to 1/2 full, add water to top off, then add 1 to 2 tablespoons acv. You can put more or less water or Apple Cider Vinegar depending on your taste. Enjoy and good health. Oh yes and do use _____s ACV. It is available in most stores. Green stevia is bought in health food stores in bulk. :)

Vandana, I agree about Turmeric being an excellent herb. It's being used in Brazil for cancer treatments. I use it when my hayfever allergies flair up. I visited Ahmedbad in 1980 and stayed for 3 mos. I'm sure it has changed a lot. Aloha, Maui Nurse

Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda
Posted by Kolokea (Vancouver, Wa) on 11/11/2009
I use vineger and baking soda to unclog my kitchen sink. Vinegar is an acid you pour it down the sink that is plugged and let it sit for 5 minutes. Then you add the baking soda and this causes a chemical reaction. The vinegar and soda start to fizzle and break up the clog in the drain.
I have never heard of using the two to cure hot flashes. What will this do to my system over time?
I started getting hot flashes two years ago. I went to a health food store and they recommended Proestergin Cream. I checked it out on the computer and it seemed to work for a lot of people. I used the cream for 3 days and noticed immediate relief. After taking it a week my hot flashed when away. After some time I learned when I could miss or when I needed to increase the dozes. I went for a whole year without hot flashes. Now the cream isn't working for me. I have switched brands and gone from Yam extract to Soy extract...nothing works any more.
I will try the ACV tonight, wish me luck...
Donate Blood

My friend's Mom started having hot flashes before menopause. She fixed the problem by donating blood regularly. She is now in menopause and does not get hot flashes.
This makes a lot of sense too for those in menopause. Without their monthly periods, women start accumulating more iron and whatnot in their bodies. Perhaps that leads to the hot flashes because their bodies are not used to it.

Soy milk powder cured my hot flashes. I also tried everything under the sun, but the soy milk poweder was the only sure thing. If I miss one dose, they're back! I take a tablespoon in the morning, with tea or over cereal, doesn't matter. Take another dose in the evening if necessary, works like a charm!!

I am a 48 year old woman have recently started having hot flashes and night sweats. I had no idea how uncomfortable they would be, until it finally happened. I could not sleep because of the constant heat coming and going. During the day, I would have at least 5 episodes of them, but at night I would suffer at least 10 episodes, with constant interruption of sleep. I tried the raw apple cider vinegar with no success. So next I tried the vitamin E. All I had in the cabinet was 1000IU so that is what I took. I must say it worked on the first night, and the second night, so I feel safe in saying it really works. I take it at night about an hour before bed, Peace, Rena.

I started having hot flashes and for a couple of months did nothing. Then I read in our paper that pine bark helps with hot flashes. I took one pill each day and it started working for me right away. I had no hot flashes for at least six months. Then one week i didn't take it everyday because I forgot and now it doesn't seem to be helping any. I started taking black cohash and it doesn't help at all. Please try the pine bark because it worked fantastic on me with no side effects. They usually recommend one pill in the morning and one at night but I only did the one in the morning.

I recently had a neurotransmitter test because I tend to be too hyper. The doctor put me on "targeted amino acid therapy." It turns out that GABA (gama amino butyric acid), one of the things the doctor had me take cured my hot flashes. I use ___ encapsulations brand because of their high quality. I think one capsule is about 675 mg. I take one first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and then again after work (also on an empty stomach). Hot flashes and night sweats are gone! I'm 51 years old and just started getting hot flashes. They were coming about every 30 minutes. I've never found this information anywhere on the web so I thought I'd share my experience.

I started getting hot flashes about a month ago. I started taking black strap molasses 2 weeks ago after a chance encounter with someone who told me she was using it for her hot flashes. I figured what the heck, might as well try it. It's natural and cheaper than going to the doctor. Whatta ya know....it works!! I am truly and pleasantly surprised. I wish I had gotten the name of the lady who told me about this. My husband would like to thank her. No more arguing over the thermostat at night.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Cayenne
Posted by Linda (Ottawa, ON, Canada) on 11/02/2008
I have just stopped taking estrogen pills, I have been on them for 5 years, now my doctor wants me off them. I have not slept for 2 weeks now,so I will try the acv for sure. I did try it many years ago for stress and I had alot of energy. I felt great, I would put 2 teaspoons of avc and one tablespoon of pure honey with one eight ounce glass of warm water. It is really not too bad to drink.
And for a UTI try one to two capsules of cayenne, the other morning I woke up at 3 in the morning with the urge to go. I never wake up in the middle of the night to got to the bathroom, and I thought to myself aw here we go again, another UTI infection. I had some Cayenne capsule so I took one in the morning and drank water all day. I took another one before supper with more water, well that was the end of that. I had been cured the same day.
My daughter told me about this site, it is great.

I have recently started having the most awful hot flushes going literally dripping wet after a shower and after putting on make up. My hair goes flat and lifeless. I have noticed on your site that B vitamins have an effect on your hot flushes and I take them. I shall stop the B vitamins and multi vitamins and try apple cider vinegar (I used to take it for reflux and its great). I will then report back whether or not this has worked.

Iodine
Posted by Sarah (Washington, DC) on 06/20/2008
Hi. This might help somebody: I have a weird condition where any iodine-rich food or salt sends me into weeks or horrible, debilitating hot flashes. Avoiding iodine-rich substances makes them eventually go away, though it is hard to avoid iodine, so it sometimes starts up again. I have tested this reaction many times and it is consistant. When I'm having a reaction, taking a very low dose (12 to 50 micrograms) of thyroxine (like Synthroid) usually helps get the reaction under control within a week. I've been to a couple endocrynologists about this and none of them understand what is going on, except that iodine apparently shuts down the thyroid temporarily and it may be that mine isn't starting up again properly after too much iodine. In addition to the hot-flashes, my symptoms are more like hypo than hyperthyroidism, so maybe that's why the thyroxine helps.
Be healthy.
Soy

★☆☆☆☆WARNING!
One should always be careful when trying soy, that they do not have an allergy to it. I do and 1/4 oz of it can send me to the bathroom for hours, whether it be soy milk, tofu, miso, hydrolyzed soy protein, msg, etc. I also puff up like a blowfish... For a lot of skin problems I use extra virgin coconut oil, for upset stomachs, and dieting. I am just going to try ACV for hot flushes now. I will let you know how it turns out.
