I recently had a problem with chaffing that turned into a painful rash, (for lack of a better term), down yonder. I think it may have been due to a new additive in my laundry process and heat at work. I had used powder on it for several days with some temporary relief. So after having a conversation with my mother about how honey and coconut oil rarely, if ever, goes bad (because of it's antibacterial properties) I decided to rub coconut oil, directly onto the affected area. Immediate and instant relief. I used it again the next day and the rash is totally gone. Thank you Earth Clinic for letting us share our remedies with the world. I hope this helps someone who may be suffering and needs not the embarrassment or cost of going to the doctor or pharmacist, seeking a cure.

Bathing dogs is part of my job, unfortunately the HARSH shampoos we use cause me to have a horribly painful, red, and slightly swollen rash on my hands and forearms. It's only dog shampoos however. Dish soap doens't do it to me. I have tried everything. Nothing prevents it except not bathing, vaseline does nothing to help the pain, and lotion only makes the stinging unbearable. I tried some unrefined coconut oil tonight. Within 5 minutes, the pain was gone. Completely. Still a bit red, but that is easing up a bit too. Not sure if it's an allergy, but it's similar to when I break out from handeling certain dog breeds. So I am assuming allergies have something to do with it.

My 3 week old baby has suffered terribly with nappy rash and most things I've tried have only irritated it as they are too harsh for his sensitive skin. However I tried, only as of last night, Coconut Oil, and after only 3 applications his rash has all but disappeared! This is great stuff and I am delighted. I presume then that my little boy had thrush (Candida) perhaps on his poor tush?! Anyway, I will continue to use this as it works so well, smells gorgeous and is also a fabulous body moisturiser! I hope this helps someone out there. Good luck.

used coconut oil on my son's diaper rash. It went away in one night after I had been trying other creams for days and it just got worse. The exact measurements I used: well I put my fingers in the jar and scooped some out and rubbed it on!

I have been using Extra Virgin Coconut Oil since 2005. It has helped me in so many ways. My immune system was a mess and I had a rash all over my body from Candida. I happened upon VCO in a book I read and decided to give it a try. I started eating it by melting a tablespoon and adding it to my yogurt. It would harden back up but it was crunchy and made the plain yogurt taste great. After a few months of eating it that way I decided to use it in a smoothie instead. The smoothie consists of two cups of yogurt (one plain and one fruit) along with a banana, one tablespoon of coconut oil and one tablespoon of flaxseed oil. I don't have the rash any longer. When I occasionally get a dry spot from Eczema -- (which is completely under control now) I rub a little in and it's gone within a few days. My skin and hair look great!! My friends always comment how soft my skin feels. I don't suffer from Candida any longer. Another benefit I believe that came from eating the above smoothie was that I had cryptic tonsilitis. It healed up shortly after I started eating the VCO. I will say I haven't lost weight by using VCO but I noticed I do feel full longer. Also, a big plus is I no longer have IBS either!! I really think it helps with wrinkles as well and noticed when I was in Hawaii that I didn't burn like I usually do. VCO is always going to remain a part of my diet!! Thanks for your website too! I love to read all the different remedies.

re: Subject: Coconut Oil for Rashes and Healing of Scars. I am 40 yrs old and have very dry sun-damaged skin. I have been experimenting with vit E, aloe, green tea, olive oil, and just recently extra virgin coconut oil. About two weeks ago I had to have 3 biopsies on my legs. To make a long story short...I tried the coconut oil last night and woke up and found that my legs are much better. The redness from the scars and also a rash I have had for 3 months dramatically improved. I think this stuff actually works great.

The rash I had lasted for almost two years--tryed everything--natural--I do not like the medical field at all--so a friend of mine who is very much so into alternative medicine started researching about skin--well needless to say she came across and Idia site that said mix tomato juice(organic) and coconut oil(organic) to the rash--the rash was all over my body--I was in so much pain from the rash I was crying--so I mixed it in the blender--put towels down in my bathtub--so as not to make a mess--my husband bless his heart--took a big cooking spoon and pored it on me--as he was pouring I was rubbing it in--yes it had a very much so tingling effect--but we didn't stop--we did this for about 15 minutes--then I didn't wash it off we just kind off blotted it--put on some clothes I didn't mind messing up--the next morning the rash was almost gone--I did the treatment one more time--as of this day which has been about a year--I have seen no signs of the rash--hope this will help someone else--Donna
