Earl Grey Tea, Turmeric

Woke up this morning with my eye almost completely closed from a painful sty I developed yesterday, it is allergy season and my eyes are very sensitive. I looked on EC for cures and also talked to my mom, who used to get sty's often. I read about the anti-inflammatory effects of turmeric and my mom said tea works well too. So I made myself a morning cuppa and used the spent tea bag to nurse my poor dilapidated eye. Here's the method:

  • Boil enough water for a cup of tea
  • Place 1 earl grey tea bag in cup
  • pour boiling water over bag
  • steep 3 minutes
  • remove tea bag and let cool (without squeezing the water out)
  • rub some ground turmeric on the wet bag
  • place bag on eye for 60 minutes
  • add cream and sugar (or honey) to tea
  • lay back and relax

enjoy :)

So after 20 minutes I checked my eye and shock and awe, the swelling went down considerably but there was still a bump right over the little pimple, I decided to leave it on for another 20 minutes. After that time elapsed I checked again and the sty was almost gone but still a very small bit of swelling remained on the outside of my eyelid which I hadn't noticed was swollen because of how severe the swelling was when I woke up! Another 20 minutes and my eye is darn near perfect! Definitely worth the 60 minute rest and the nice cuppa tea. I hope this helps others as it has myself, what a relief. Oh also I took 1 tsp turmeric powder orally as well to stave off any inflammation that may brew up over the course of the day.

Multiple Remedies

I had a stye/chalazion which I went to see an opthamologist about and she precribed cortizone and antibiotics, which in addition to seeming an "overkill" cure, cost between $150 and $200 with no precription benefits. No can do.

I went home and used a few cures. Internal immunity boost: 5000 Vitamin C, little extra A and tumeric and milk with honey throughout day. For the actual eye, I used tea bags soaked in tea (alternated Yogi "cold season tea and green), wrapped in sterile gauze and then I put a hot water bottle on top to keep it warm ( bc the teabag loses its warmth quickly and you want to increase circulation to drain the stye). In 24 hours it looks and feels better, is already not so itchy. My hubby says I don't look like a boxer anymore.

Copaiba Oil

My 2yr old son had stye more than a month. After 2 weeks of using the anti inflamation cream prescribed by doctor, the stye was still there and got worse and bigger. So I decided to read up on which essential oil to use.

I found Copaiba essential oil to be suitable for skin and decided to apply 1 or 2 drops on the cotton bud and applied on the stye. The next day after the 1st application (at night), the stye got smaller. By the 3rd application, the stye became very small and disappearing. I was so amazed by the effectiveness and how cheap Copaiba essential oil cost, $3. 50 for 1oz.

My husband had the beginnings of a sty a few years ago and we just took a 14 K ring cleaned it and rubbed it on the sty about 3 times a day (just wiped it across about 15 times)and it went away without getting really large. Such a simple thing to do and it saved him alot of pain.

My brother, when he was a child, used to often get an eye sty. My mother used to take off her wedding ring and give it to him to rub on the sty for a minute or two. I don't remember her ever sterilizing the ring. The sty would be gone by the next day. I think it is better if the ring has a high gold content, but I did get rid of one myself with a 9ct ring.

Baby Shampoo

Yup! It works. My husband used baby shampoo on a terrible Sty he had on his lower eye lid. He was skeptical, but used it in the shower and let it just naturally drip on to his eye ( while washing his hair ). Gone in two showers. Too bad he waited so long heeding my advice!! :)

I too started getting a sty yesterday. I got on my favorite website, (earthclinic.com) and read about the baby shampoo, fortunately I had some.. I had a function to go to, my eye was hurting everytime I blinked, was red and swollen. I applied the baby shampoo with a Q-tip and almost instantly the pain went away, it stung for 15 seconds at the most. I used the baby shampoo several times yesterday and evening, before bed and this morning, it's almost gone. Who would of thot?? Love Love Love Earthclinic! :)

I just wanted to say that the baby shampoo is working for stys. I tend to get them around my eyes, look like little whiteheads about the size of a pinhead. I have a couple now...the first one has been there a lil longer, just below my lower lash line and it's improved, but the new one that just popped up directly on the edge of my eyelid, touching the eye, is very noticeably shrunken. I think it'll be gone soon. It was irritating my eye so bad because everytime I blinked it felt like grit in my eye. But I just rubbed some baby shampoo on the spots while washing my face last nite and then rinsed with water. I would recommend it's probably best to do ASAP, probably easier to get rid of the sooner you treat it, like any other problem really.

Thanks Moses5 for that remedy. It really works! Yesterday I had a sty under my right eyelid and decided to try the Baby Shampoo by dabbing some with a q-tip to the top of my eyelid as well as on the sty. I only did this twice and to my amazement, the sty was gone and I no longer had the pain that came along with it. I wish I would have taken a picture of the before and after to show others who probably won't believe me. I am hooked on this website and am telling family and friends about it so that they may find some comfort in finding easy rememdies for their ailments. Thanks Again!

Milk

I poured milk in my infected eye last night. The sty on the inside drained all night long; however, the other sty that is directly on the bottom lining of my eye lid is full force today. Big, red and sore. I will try milk on it tonight when I get home. Really wishing I had some gold to rub on it...

Hi Teena, Thanks for sharing this. Can you specify how you made the baking soda paste and how to hold on the eye ? Thank you !!

Maybe thats just you who needs both. Because more people tried just the ACV and it worked.

Baby Shampoo

Yes, baby shampoo is very affective at alleviating styes quickly. I tried two applications- yesterday afternoon and evening, on a under-the-lower-eyelid sty. First I used a cotton swab with a drop on the end to target the sty directly. It stung slightly and my eye teared up a bit. Before bed, I washed my afflicted eye with the baby shampoo in the shower, which seemed like the gentler and better method. This morning my sty is almost gone, along with the discomfort and swelling. Remarkable! Does anyone know why this works?

Brewer's Yeast

Go and buy Brewers Yeast right away to treat a sty. The same day you start using this the pain goes away. Within 3 days you don't even know you have it. Keep using it for 1 week just to make sure it goes away completely. If you get the bigger tablet take it 3 times a day. If you get the smaller round tablet take at least 2 of them 3 times a day. Read up on Brewers Yeast and Eye Health.

Do you eat it, or make a paste and put it on the stye? I'm confused.

Baby Shampoo
Posted by Angela (Cary, Nc) on 07/22/2012

No, you wash the eye thoroughly inside and out for at least two minutes. Try to do this at least three times a day. It helps believe me. It will sting a bit but the relief is worth it once you start soaping it up. Be sure to wash your hands anytime you come in contact with your eye and hot compresses are a good relief as well. Good luck!

Last night I noticed a Sty starting on the edge of my eyelid. I have been reading this site for another ailment so decided what you guys would have for a fast growing sty, this thing was getting big and painful in a hurry. I tried the baby shampoo this morning and after 3 applications within 2 hours of each other... It's gone! Thank you soooo much! I really didn't need yet another ailment on my face. (I will explain further in a comment on dermatitis and ACV... Another big hit with me. ) I so appreciate all of you.

Eye Drops Containing Boric Acid

Sty relief.. With onset of sty irrogate eye 3 to 4 times daily with eyedrops that have boric acid in ingredients. Irrogating eye removes debris and opens ducts. I woke up on a Friday sore. Friday night worse. 2 days pain almost gone. Sty never developed and head never formed. Do everyday until redness is gone. Try it.. It worked for me. I have low immune system and it gave my eye the edge to heal itself. Of course keep hands very clean as not to reinfect or spread to other eye. I know these things hurt.. But this is the fastest and most reliable healing I have found!
