Any brand of coconut oil would work. As long as "coconut oil "is written on the label, you can still confidently apply it on your hair. Anyway, making your hair longer/prevent hair loss is one sole issue while making it look shinier is another issue.

I am just a 18 years old girl. My hair used to be thick last time and I've never bothered it, even when others told me that I have thick hair. Worries monopoly myself when I started to realise when my hair is getting thinner and thinner than year after year.

Every morning, when I woke up, about more than 15 strands of hair would end up between my finger and thus, finally fall off.

Then, I started applying coconut oil on my hair on my scalp(to reduce the number of hair fall and promote faster hair growth/regrowth) and also apply them between my hair from the scalp to the tip of my hair to make it look shinier and repairs all those split ends. AND YAY! I did realise some changes in a week time. And I'm so amazed with much power coconut oil can do.

I just recently went through this. The loss was all over my scalp, not just in one area. It stopped once I started drinking Chai tea using coconut milk. I was also taking coconut oil internally as well (1-3 Tbs. A day). I now have little two inch growths all over my head, so it wasn't just breakage. When I discussed this with my hairdresser, she told me that stress will do this, and that it takes three months for it to happen after a stressful event. I did have something very stressful happen three months before I started losing my hair. It could also be the result of hormone imbalance, or a shedding cycle.

Coconut oil has caused my hair to grow back thicker. Also, before using coconut oil my scalp would itch terribly whenever I sweated... And my scalp was often itchy and irritated.... Also lots of dandruff. It has also given me beautiful nails for the first time in my life. It also takes care of my IBS... As long as I take it everyday. I take the capsules... 4 a day. It is my personal opinion that coconut oil helps IBS in people who have had their gall bladder removed. I would not be without my coconut oil!

Try taking Coconut Oil for Hair Loss!!

When I take 1-2 tablespoons of coconut oil, my thin hair instantly becomes smoother & seems thicker - it's incredible! Ihe color even looks darker, too! Just remember to start slow - even 1/4 teaspoon for a week, then slowly increase the dosage. You can get severe Herxheimer reactions (die off) from coconut oil, so please start slow!! Get Virgin coconut oil - if that is too strong for you, try Expeller Pressed.

Hi Helen from Austin, Texas, I noticed my seborreic dermatitis disappeared after I finished the whole 29oz jar of Nativa extra virgin coconut oil. I believe it took about 4 - 6 weeks (2 tbsp a day) to finish the jar.

Sorry, I took so long to respond back, I never returned until today.

You can apply the coconut oil to your scalp when it's dry, let it absorb for about an hour or two and then get into shower. You do not need to use the conditioner after shampoo. Coconut oil is a very good conditioner too.

On the other hand, you can eat/drink two to three spoonfuls everyday. But, I believe doing both is a sure shot way.

Hey Laurie! I see that no one has answered your post and thought I would. Coconut oil is really good to grow back your hair. It's really easy. Just get some virgin coconut oil and just lather it up on the scalp. All you have to do is to make sure you rub it on the scalp. Also if you want to double it up I like to also use aloe vera for my hair to make it nice and shiny and for hair lost. I hope this helps! As far as how often I think it depends on the person. I've only done this maybe about five or 6 times in the past year and my hair is a lot fuller. I would try maybe once a week on the weekend or once a month. Also make sure to leave it for an hour or two so it really is absorbed by the scalp.

Regarding organic virgin cold pressed coconut oil, I internally take 3 tsp daily, as well as oil pull with it, and for skin, it is a great makeup remover as well as facial cleanser and moisturizer. For hair, once a month; I saturate my hair (dry hair) with the oil, then wrap in saran wrap and cover with a warm towel for no less than 2hrs.; then wash normally. It is IMO, one of the better oils to use externally, since it absorbs so quickly, and is less damaging than all those nasty chemicals.

I have been taking Coconut Oil for my hair loss as well, for the past month. My hair seems much thicker. My body temperature is much better too. I Love it! I feel like a new person. I have so much energy. In fact, I have to take my three tablespoons in the morning, or I have trouble sleeping at night.

I have used coconut oil for many years. I learned this from my aunt who was noticing her hair was falling out more than usual so she starting using it on her scalp and hair and it not only stopped her hair loss, but actually made her hair grow strong, abundant and shiny so I started using it myself. Needless to say I have really thick strong, to much hair actually.

Coconut Oil for Hypothyroid patients: I heard that virgin coconut oil was a good supplement for people suffering with hypothyroidism. I went to a natural food market and bought a jar of it. That was 2 months ago and I have gone back to buy more several times. I am taking 3 tablespoons in the morning. It has not helped with my weight although I know a few people who used it and lost weight immediately. It has stopped my hair loss (it use to fall out by the handful) and in fact not only is my hair thicker but my eyebrows are growing back. I no longer have cold hands and feet either. It doesn't cure thyroid problems but it certainly is a great supplement to help with the effects of the disease.

I started using VCO 3 weeks ago for hair loss. Well in that time I have seen a dramatic difference in my hair plus my hot flashes are decreasing. Now there are only 2 a week. My energy level has increased, my insomnia is gone and my mood is alot better, also my moisture has increased in my whole body. I can't wait to see what happens in 6 months. I take 3 tbsp. a day.
