Dear Oscar, Have you had any feedback from anyone with your BHT protocal with regards to Peripheral Neuropathy? Is it safe to use with that condition? I have tried to go on your yahoo site but can’t seem to get on there. I am a computer novice and will keep trying. Thank you.
Dear Jennifer from, Albany New york. You do not state what disease you are or are considering treating with BHT. I have never claimed BHT is a treatment for peripheral Neuropathy.
I am going to assume you are considering or using BHT for one of the viral hepatitis diseases because is mostly what I discuss. Hepatitis often leads to some degree of peripheral neuropathy. We have had at least a few members in our group discuss it.
I recall an ” Art from Vancouver ” discussing BHT and PN at length in this forum. He had hepatitis C and had undergone the peg-interferon + ribavron treatments without success and much damage to his body including PN. For him the BHT seemed to help a lot with PN. Now you need to start with the lower dosages of BHT and find a dosage you are comfortable with. We have had many success stories from people using 250mg to 500mg of BHT per day. Lightweight and thin people seem to do best at about 250mg of BHT per day.
Here is a link to our group:

You're right Oscar.
I am dealing with Peripheral Neuropathy and Diabetes #2 which is the result of interferon. Just google the side effects and see for yourself. It saddens me to think there are still people who will take that stuff as prescribed by doctors whose only concern is money. The BHT at 350mg per day on an empty stomach lowered my liver enzymes and gratefully cured my brain fog and flue like symptoms. Now I can eat chicken without feeling like I am getting the flu, and I thought it was my sister's cooking. LOL.
Now at this time I take R+ALA for the PN and Chanca Piedra for the pain in the lower lobe of my liver on my left side which by the way started after my biopsy back in 2002. Today I am having a good day but there are some bad ones where energy and stamina are very low. My Alt is 55 AST 51 GGT 32 because stupid me had to get a shingles vaccine out of worry. I am sure my numbers will drop some more if they can find a vein to draw blood from. There are few who can and now they are no longer there. I do appreciate Oscar for all his suggestions and hope he can put all his wonderful info in one column.
Having a good day. Art.
I do appreciate
Dear Art, I have never forgotten you. As far as treating hepatitis C goes: Keeping the treatment simple is what works best. But you have two other serious conditions that cannot be ignored: neuropathy and diabetes type 2. You can`t go wrong with drinking distilled water and doing moderate exercise. Both are important along with a healthy diet.
Is there some sport such as fishing you enjoy? Hiking and bicycle riding are really good for you. Bike riding is actually kind of exciting and hiking enjoyable. As corny as it sounds: Bird photography can add to both as far as enjoyment goes. Just bring a decent camera along with you.
We are about the same age. We both have to find real things that make our lives enjoyable. Sitting around and feeling pain is not good. Finding activities that keep us physically active that we enjoy is vitally important. It is all too easy to fall into self destructive depression at our age. I see it happen to so many people, myself included….Oscar
Just wanted to add to Oscar's post that anything that gets you out of doors is beneficial. You get sunshine, your interest is attracted by nature's scenery–all of this takes your mind off your pain. Even in the city, people watching is diverting.
do you know of anyone that has tried a combination of coconut oil and bht? The coconut oil dissolves the lipid coating of viruses. Then the bht may be more effective. I have read about a study done in the Philippines in which coconut oil got rid of hiv virus.
Dear Shawn from Florida: I am not sure of how best to respond to your question. This is because I only used the BHT with water on an empty stomach method. I had such a spectacular response using this method to treat my hepatitis C infection I saw no reason for mixing BHT with any oil or anything else.
In only 4 weeks on the BHT with water only on an empty stomach I went from being seriously sick with all the usual symptoms of a failing liver: yellow eyes, dark urine, inability to digest most foods to normal liver function and NO VIRUS DETECTED. I started with only 200mg of BHT per day and quickly ramped up to 400mg to 600mg of BHT per day. I was using 200mg of BHT capsules.
This was back in early 1997. I know of NO drug or compound that has ever been shown to produce better results than that.
You asked me if I knew of people who achieved as good or better results mixing BHT with coconut oil. My answer is NO. They may be out there but I do not know of them.
From the extensive research I have done it appears to me that once BHT is dissolved in coconut oil the way it is digested and metabolized differs from the way BHT is metabolized when taken with water only on an empty stomach. The with water only method results in altered forms of BHT interring the bloodstream from the intestines and even the mouth itself if you chew the BHT crystals. With the BHT dissolved in oil mixture it seems to me that BHT is picked up by structures called lipoproteins and distributed in that way to the different cells. In my opinion this defeats the purpose. It makes it so that BHT and it`s metabolites are NOT readily drawn to those viral lipid coatings and the viruses so coated in the bloodstream.
There are people who disagree with me. I have given you my opinion….Oscar
Do you have information about BHT and genotype 3, I have been using the BHT for 2 years;
My results as of 5/9/2015 are:
I take valacyclovir for herpes every day and s-acetyl glutathione 200 mg daily
Thank you, holding on to hope.
Dear Lana [ Raleigh ], The good news I have for you is: There are NEW treatments available for hepatitis C right NOW. These new treatments are both safe and very effective. Surely your doctor has discussed this with you. Is that true or not?
You have tried the BHT for 2 years now and it is NOT working for you based on what your test results are showing.
It is possible the ” valacylovir ” and or the s-acetyl glutathione supplements are degrading the BHT treatment. I have no way of knowing about that.
You should be eligible for government assistance to pay for these newly available treatments.
If the BHT is working the way it is supposed to there would be no need for a herpes drug or that other supplement.
The BHT treatment does NOT work well with MANY drugs and supplements.
So it`s up to you. You can try the BHT without the two compounds discussed and see if you get a dramatic improvement in two months or less. If not go with the newly available drugs as prescribed. Or go with the new treatments right now. I want to see you get well with or without the BHT treatment….Oscar
I did go for the new treatment but I do not qualify due to not being in cirrhosis….Do you know anyone who used a protocol that had genotype 3? I think tha'ts the difference. Thank you for your concern, time and information, as always. Lana
Dear Lana [ Raleigh, NC ]: Gee, I do not the rules as to getting government help for treating hepatitis C. So you are telling me you have to have cirrhosis of the liver to get such help. That is a shame and makes no sense, but is NOT a big surprise. It does at times seem to me that some not very bright people are in control of our NATION`S so called health care system.
Why wait until people are seriously ill or sick with hepatitis C before help is available ? The sicker people are the harder hepatitis C is to treat. Everything gets more complicated as this disease progresses. Hopefully that will change in the near future.
But I will focus on you as things are NOW. So you are infected with hepatitis C genotype 3. That is a somewhat rare form of hepatitis C. Most of the people I have worked with were TYPE 1s, both subtype A and B. There were some hepatitis genotype 2s in that group I worked with. I do NOT recall even one genotype 3.
But theoretically there is NO reason why the BHT treatment should NOT work for hepatitis C genotype 3. It is a lipid coated virus very much structurally the same as the type 1s and 2s. A discussion of all that is here at wikipedia:
So why are you not getting the desired results after 2 years of trying this BHT treatment ?
The theory myself and others have discussed is that: BHT is the right size a shape to penetrate the bi-layered lipid coatings the virons are coated with. It is more complex than that because: It is the metabolites of BHT [ altered BHT molecules ] that actually enter the bloodstream as discussed in the different WHO [ World Health Organization ] toxicology reports. Said reports state: A carboxyl group often occurs at the methyl group and hydroxyl groups occur in those two tert-butyl groups during digestion of BHT.
Also that carboxyl group readily combines with the amino acid glycine. It has been my proposal that: Metabolized [ altered ] BHT readily combines with MANY compounds by way of peptide bonds making the combined structures TOO LARGE to penetrate those lipid coatings on those virons. Those two compounds you said you are taking are both large and also have amino groups. It is when amino groups combine with a carboxyl group that these peptide bonds occur.
That is the reason why I suggested you stop taking those two supplements and lets see if that is what is degrading the BHT treatment for you. If I am right about this you should see a rapid decline in that viral load count. I mean rapid. No more than two months. If I am wrong then for reasons unknown to me the BHT treatment is NOT working. There are some other alternative treatments for hepatitis C discussed in this forum. I had very much hoped you could get the NEW treatments right now but you have told me you can not at this time.
I very much HOPE my suggestions work [ stop taking those two compounds discussed ]. If that does not show a rapid decline in that viral load count it seems to me it is time to look into some other treatment….Oscar
I haven't seen on Earth Clinic anything about BHT being fat soluble and it is not water soluble until I decided to check BHT under remedies.
Yes, mix in the BHT in some warmed up virgin coconut oil. You can also take it when you eat some nuts or avocado. It is a good time to take it with a fatty meal but you have to be aware of makes a meal fatty. Another good way to take BHT is with a fat supplement like omega fatty acids, lecithin or vitamin E.
Thank you for putting your comment in here.
Hello Oscar, I'm sort of new to this site. Do you have any people taking BHT for hepatitis c that also have peripheral neuropathy? Thanks much.
To Stephanie from Brattleborough: Yes there were and are people using BHT who also have neuropathy. Taking a regular type B-complex vitamin and vitamin B12 in a daily dosage of around 1mg [ milligrams ] which is the same as 1, 000mcg [ micrograms ] seemed to help with the neuropathy….Oscar
Hello all and many thanks for posting all the success and experience with BHT as its giving me hope.
I was diagnosed in 2005 and read horror stories about the conventional treatments so felt there had to be another way. At that time my viral load was 75k and I don't know what geno type I am as the Dr. forgot to request that test.
I began taking the BHT about a year ago and within a couple of weeks – I felt so much better! The brain fog cleared and the aches and pains vanished also. Every morning upon waking, I felt better over the previous days. I felt really encouraged.
I just got new blood work back and my viral load is up to 360k so its back to the drawing board and I am going to be more disciplined than before. I also recently had a flu shot and understand that can contribute to elevated viral loads.
So a little disheartened but going to make more of an effort and will report my results in the coming weeks.
Dear Msc from Sarasota, I am Oscar. I did have a BHT cures group for over two years but no longer do.
What we learned in that group was to keep this BHT treatment simple. Things including: Milk Thistle and it`s extracts, Vitamin B12 supplements, grapefruit juice, and many other things can degrade the treatment. So do NOT take them.
The good news is you are still very much in the LOW ZONE as regards that viral load count for hepatitis C after 10 years of being infected with hepatitis C.
There were many people who felt much better using the treatment as discussed who struggled with getting that viral load count down to NO VIRUS DETECTED. It was always a matter of identifying what they were taking that was degrading the treatment. For one person it was drinking lots of grapefruit juice. For others it was taking milk thistle, vitamin B12 supplements, etc..
So keep the treatment simple for best results….Oscar
