I haven’t found anything online, and couldn’t get into Ted’s remedies yet, so couldn’t check there. I am trying to find out if drinking Borax solution (for women the 1/8 tsp in a liter of water) would interfere with other supplements? I take magnesium, calcium, black seed oil, D3, and B-complex.
Thank you much:)
The only thing recommended not to take with borax, is lugol’s iodine.
I see you’re supplementing calcium, modern diets should have enough calcium without need to supplement, there is concern they contribute to stones, Spurs, and more problematic, is the hardening of arteries. You may research more, always recommend, and find vitamin k2, readily available in grass fed butter, a better way of ensuring the calcium you consume goes to bones and teeth, and not elsewhere.
I looked at a list of 15 foods that have calcium in the link below Teena. I only eat 4 of the 15. Now I could “learn” to eat Tofu and a couple of the other things, but it makes me think a 100 mg tablet of Calcium isn’t going to hurt me.
I could be wrong but without milk, cheese and yogurt for example (which I can’t eat, at least until I overcome my acid reflux) I don’t think I get even close to a daily RDA.
I do eat real butter, but not a lot, just on toast usually. So going back to the borax which is my interest in asking the question, the Lugols Iodine is not something I use at all. I think I get enough in my Seasalt, Lima beans (baby are my fave and when I finish off what I’ve frozen in jars, I make another pot) eggs, tuna, and cod when I can get it. So that makes me wonder about the Borax and some of my fave foods, which, contain iodine?
Unless Lugols (the brand) has something to do with it.
Just curious about the warning of using borax with lugols iodine together in same day….are there any article links on the warnings available. Appreciate the heads up. Blessings, Charity.
Where did I read but to take borax and LI together? Earth Clinic. But not from Ted, I believe it was much respected Bill (apologies if I am wrong) who replied to a post asking about how one can do different protocols at once. I didn’t find that particular post, and in fact Ted posts show a few posts where he has asked about both remedies, he never posted a warning. But it makes sense to me, if borax can detox fluoride, bromine, it can likely displace another halide, iodine. So I stopped using borax and only use Iodine.
I did find this link, however, with borax referenced as antidote to iodine at bottom of this page.
I am interested in others thoughts also.
As I remember this, it was a good number of years ago that I was taking both iodine and borax in the morning together. Then one day, Bill posted how oxidants and antioxidants just cancel each other out, and borax and iodine should NOT be taken together. I have kept them apart from that day on. I often wonder if other supplements I take fall into that same category because I don’t know what is an antioxidant and what is an oxidant. I have often thought that a list could be beneficial for this reason. Maybe someone with more knowledge could post something on this. I have always appreciated that information from Bill.
I don’t understand, both borax and iodine have antioxidant activity.
I have tried to find the comment from Bill but haven’t been successful. I researched what you are saying, and it seems to be correct, although I did see reference to iodine as a possible oxident in some cases(?), which I did not understand. I have also read that taking small amounts of iodine can leave the body in a state of inflammation, so I have backed off taking it for now, until I get a better understanding of how it works. My latest thyroid test had an inflated TSH value which I read on the Stop the Thyroid Madness site can be caused iodine, and is harmless. Since I take the LDN, I thought perhaps my thyroid was normalized and had not been taking any natural thyroid meds regularly, just iodine occasionally, but have stopped the iodine and now take a low dose of Armour. Currently trying the Remag/Remyte solutions to try to build bone mass, along with D/K2. Thinking about adding ashwagandha for sleep, but think I read some reason that I should NOT take it, but can’t remember why. Thank you for your always insightful comments and your willingness to share all that you have researched with everyone to help us find solutions to health questions and problems. Not many people have your research skills and tenacity to find answers!
I am curious, so I inquire. Thank you for the information. I use iodine after my morning shower but I know the Chlorine in the shower is a halide that gets into the iodine ports before the iodine I use. Then late in the day I use borax as a foot soak.
Sorry all, link provided. Click here.
Rsw, thank you for your reply, as I was unable to find the post to which I read. I know vitamin c, as is clove, are powerful antioxidanst, clove more so, vitamin c + lugol’s iodine = dha, superantioxidant. Hydrogen Peroxide, I believe, is an oxidant, and as such I have not used it, but have it just in case.
Borax: Great to clear calcifying of the body.
Only been using Borax for a short time but have noticed a difference in our health all ready. Prior to using Borax were using Bicarb daily for alkaline and health benefits but Borax we feel is superior.
Just wondering where you bought your borax from?
Try Blants online. Very reasonable delivery costs even for bulk purchase. Stock many healthful products.
You can buy borax from Blants Wellness in NSW; or, 500g Harper's powdered borax from IGA for about $5.50.
Or at Walmart. It’s over where the detergents are, which should be a hint.
Stop being afraid of borax. It is wonderful stuff. As has been said before, it is about as toxic as salt. Regarding purity, borax is mined just like table salt. You can't refine either one any further. Hey, try to wash them and they dissolve, fer pitty sake.
One of the neatest benefits of boron is it basically doubles your absorption rate of calcium. It is required for strong bones.
The easy way to take borax is to get some gelatin capsules from yout pharmacy or health food store and make your own borax pills. Remember to take them with a cup of water.
If you found scented borax you goofed and bought boric acid instead. Some boric acid brands are perfumed. Boric acid is not dangerous, other than the fact it is acidic. Diluted it has been used for sprains, pains, bug bites and rashes for ages.
Boric acid is the one you want to use for insect control. Ants, termites, cockroaches and the like have a waxy coating on their bodies. Even a speck of boric acid will kill them by burning a hole in the coating so they dehydrate. I suspect a dusting would do the same for bedbugs.
Any form of borax is deadly to fungus. I sprayed the inside hull of my antique wooden boat to stop dry rot. Drill a hole near the base of a fence post, pour in some borax, and plug it. The borax diffuses through the wood to stop rot.
Boric Acid is very dangerous if ingested or placed in open cuts and wounds!
Ordinary borax becomes boric acid and sodium in the tummy. This is the very best way to feed the body with boron, the ionic form. It will fight to prevent arthritis and if you have arthritis it will 98% of the time cure it although you must keep taking it for best results. The Chinese have been using borax to fight fluorosis and arthritis. Boron takes calcium which is in the absence of boron leaves calcium free floating in the blood(not good) boron forces the free floating calcium into the bones and teeth which greatly improves their strength. Nations with low boron/borax in the water and food supply have very hight rates of arthritis- 40 to 60% whereas nations with just 8mg in the daily diet have less than 1% incidence of arthritis. Natural organic apples of years gone by had a good 25mg per apple whereas commercial apples may have less than 1mg because of mineral depleted soils. There is an effort to dissuade usage of borax because there is so much money- vast billions- made from arthritis medicines. Every cell in the human body needs boron to make cell walls and we have nearly no boron in our diet. An "00" capsule a day is fine. Drink with water and make sure you take a good 400mg of magnesium malate or magnesium citrate and a good glass of water with it. I would not believe these utterly false reports posted on here. It is so easy to just make up misinformation.
Thanks to Colt Wind (USA).
David Coory claims, in his wonderfully informative and well researched book “Stay Healthy by supplying what's lacking in your Diet”, that there is a direct correlation between Boron levels in the soil and the incidence of Osteoarthritis nationally. Jamaican soils are said to be especially low in Boron and that 70% of the population eventually suffer from some form of O.A. New Zealand soils are also lacking in Boron. I learnt elsewhere, that by contrast, Fijians who live in Fiji, claim that O.A. is virtually unknown over there! Wow! Unfortunately, if they shift to New Zealand they may end up with O.A. after they have resided here for a while. There may be an Osteoporosis link to this (whole) story also I suspect. I would also be interested to learn if the fertilization of their sugar crops/coffee crops has anything to do with their soil depletion?
Remember: “You are what you Eat”!! Also remember: “The Answer lies in the Soil”. There will be a short test on this next week!! Michael
Arn from Seattle – Your analogy of Borax to table salt is highly inaccurate. Table salt is refined and treated not with water but with chemicals and additives. Sea salt is generally not though. Borax, like Sea Salt (or Himalayan Salt), is not refined or treated at all. It is just mined and milled.
Hi all, has anyone read the NEXUS magazine & also the borax conspiracy (Walter Last). He is a retired biochemist, chemist & toxicologist & swears by borax for just about everything. NEXUS mag is good cos it lets you about what big pharma & other dominators choose to keep from you. Nice to find a community like this where people care about health, each other & the earth rather than being greedy finding dodgy ways to extrapolate money & destroy what little planet we have left.
Has anyone else here had problems with 20 Mule Team Borax lately? The recent boxes I purchased seemed to have a noticeable fragrance added. Was very irritating as I’m highly chemical and scent sensitive. I called the manufacturer and they told me that nothing’s been changed or added; I’m unconvinced. I’ve used Borax for years and never experienced this until just recently. Am hopeful my experience was a fluke but am looking at other sources for Borax.
Some previous posters here had noted a scent so was wondering if anyone else here might have noticed it as well. Many at Earth Clinic use it for medicinal reasons and they’d notice a change.
Mary: The most likely explanation is that the 20 Mule Teem is shipped in the same container as other detergent products that do contain chemical scents (and many have very high levels). The 20 Mule Teem manufacturer would need alerted that the scent is leaking into the cardboard box containers. The boxed Borax is certainly permeable.
I have noticed this same type incidence with other products that are located near scented laundry products on the store shelves.
Try pouring the Borax in a wide container and let set out in a mild sun and not too damp weather.
Hi Mary – I just checked my container of borax and there is no smell BUT I’ve had the box for awhile so perhaps the new stock carries a fragrance. Also, I’m in Canada so maybe there are different formulas for export to various countries.
Does borax absorb odours like baking soda does? The smell in the detergent aisle of the supermarket is so overpowering, I’m wondering if it’s absorbing odours from the other products. It’s too bad so many people feel the need for toxic fragrance in just about everything.
Have you tried the health food store in the laundry section? If they don’t have it in stock, they may be able to order it for you (as long as it isn’t a “repackaged” 20 Mule Team product). Good luck! Bess
I just bought 20 mule borax at walmart.. no scents at all…
I have seen a lot of posst on here about BORAX now being scented in many markets. I also read, where some guy that was promoting borax as an arthritis cure, said to stock up on it, as soon it would be removed from shelves…. Sorry for not having that source to list, I read so much it is impossible for me to add everything to my favorites and list.
Just my opinion, maybe the company that makes the borax is coming under fire from some outside source and is being encouraged to add fragrance to the product now. I have been able to still get 100% all natural 20 mule team at my area grocery stores, but any day that could end. I don't think they would quit making the stuff or selling it, but adding fragrance may be a way to discourage internal use.
I want to buy several boxes to put up, but not sure how or where to store it long term. We have to continue to think ahead of them, because no sick people equals no money for them. So I would strongly encourage people that have access to the 100% all natural to stock up on it as soon as possible.
Hi, Rebel from somewhere, US —- you are quite right. And this is going to happen to a number of supplements. It is already happening.
I have ordered and received a large order of ESSIAC after I was told that one company had published some testimonies about its effectiveness and cures. They were pulled into court and told they cannot provide testimonies. Like “you cannot do this”. They also lost their business.
Lugol’s Iodine has been removed from the Canadian market and US companies cannot sell to Canada. Best thing to go online and let Tony Pantalleresco teach to make it yourself on YT.This is blatant disservice to the people of the entire country.
It is best to take the cue from there.
Strange that Canada should ban Lugol's. Spoke to a friend recently returned from Canada, and she was surprised by how many cannabis plants she saw growing in people's back gardens. Definitely weird country.
Borax should be stored in a cool dry place. Moisture makes it clump. But you can just crush it back up with a hammer. It should be able to be stored indefinitely. It was sitting in a borax mine for a long time before it was put in a box, though processed before boxing.
I found this website:
Interestingly, it mentions that borax used to be used to aid digestion, keep milk sweet, and cure epilepsy. It pooh poohs on this now, because of "modern technology and common sense." But we know that the old timers knew more than they often get credit for!
Thanks for the heads up on stocking up–and Om, for your information about natural items being banned for sale. My chiropractor says the same thing.
~Mama to Many~
Another thought on storing Borax…it does seem to absorb odours, thus the common concern that it has fragrance…it is on the shelf with strongly scented laundry products and absorbs their odours.
For long term storage, I think glass jars, of light, would be ideal. Even food grade freezer weight storage bags will have an odour transfer, so I don’t think they would be the best, though they may be better than the box the borax comes in.
Just a few thoughts….
Meant to say,
“For long term storage, I think glass jars *out* of light, would be ideal. (In other words, in a cool dark place.)
Wanted to come back to the thread I started to update: I am back with borax again 🙂
Had a recent skin rash that resisted all treatments, in desperation I remembered the box of Borax I'd stashed in the garage last year after opening it and finding it scented. Poured some out and found….no scent! The time spent stored in the cool garage had removed the odor, which was obviously from other scented products that had been stored/shipped with my Borax box.
The cardboard packaging is obviously very porous and Borax itself highly absorbent. And I'm guessing it wouldn't be cost-efficient (nor environmentally sound) to package it in plastic….going forward I'll be purchasing well in advance of running out, pouring it into an open container and leaving it for several weeks in my garage or shed to air out. I'd advise others who have had the same problem to do this as well.
re: my rash: two days of bathing in Borax and my swelling and itching have subsided, after two weeks of agony. Am so happy to be using this amazing product again. Hope this experience is helpful to others.
Borax was traditionally used in place of the current meat cures sold for sausages and the like. Russians I believe still pack caviar with it and the English (UK) insisted on having it used in place of salt for food preservation…circa 1910-1920ish until it was banned for use in meats. Why was it banned? Maybe it worked too well and kept people from getting sick since they were eating it constantly.
The 20 Mule team brand is what I use and I generally buy it at Wally world or Dollar General in the laundry aisle. There is another thing I think put out by Proctor and Gamble that is a washing soda…do not use that it is not the same thing!!!
My usual dosing now since I have done the detoxes and gotten past all that is a pinch in my coffee in the morning. That is about the same dosage for maintenance as is recommended in the 1 liter concentrate but even with a good scale (I have one) it is very difficult to measure such small amounts so I either pinch it or wet the tip of my finger and dip it in to the first joint and then dip my coffee or tea.
To All E/C readers, there was an old posting mentioned that Borax 20 Mule contains fragrance/scent. Here is what dial had to say about it.
“Thank you for taking the time to contact us regarding 20 Mule Team Borax.
This product does not contain a fragrance.
Consumer Affairs “
bill from san fernando, can you check this link below to see if this is the right borax for the earthclinc readers. the 20 mule brand borax has added fragrance to the borax. it might not be pure.
borax product listing.
The link shows technical grade borax which is good enough to use. I also use technical or chemical grade borax for supplementation and I’ve used it in the daily amounts as advised by Ted for many years. And if you buy 1 lb of borax — this will last you for years because you only use fairly small amounts anyway on a daily basis.
I also note that borax is sold as boron in health shops — usually at a pill dosage of 3 to 6 mgs a day. Boron or borax is the same stuff — sodium tetraborate. That pill dosage may well successfully recover an arthritic mouse or help a rat suffering from rampanat candida, but this small dosage will have little beneficial effect on humans. Another example of the ridiculously low and useless RDA dosages promoted by Codex Alimentarius.
Hi Bill, How many mg a day of boron would you recommend for human consumption? I have been taking 3mg a day, but am wondering what the upper limit would be.
I really love reading your posts!
Thank you. 🙂
Hi Carly… The normal RDA health dosage for boron is between 3 mgs and 6 mgs. Personally, I think that this dosage is way to small if you are trying to cure problems like arthritis or candida or trying to detox Fluoride from your body.
Boron is the same as Sodium Tetraborate –which is borax. If you buy boron tablets from a health shop and look at the constituents on the back — it will say that it contains so many mgs of sodium tetraborate or borax per tablet. I don’t know why they call it boron since boron can never exist in its free state.
The dosage I use is Ted’s recommended 1/4 teaspoon borax(for men) in a liter of water and I just drink that throughout the day. Women should use a dosage of 1/8 tspn of borax in a liter of water. Take this for 5 consecutive days then take 2 days rest from the protocol and continue like this on a weekly basis.
Ted also recommends using just 20 mule Team Borax for your borax needs but this is up to you. But I can’t buy this in the Philippines — so I have to use chemical grade borax instead.
Thank you for the information Bill, I appreciate it. I have been taking 3mg of boron a day, every day…. but it seems to not be working as well as it had been.
I use _______ Boron Chelate in capsule form, and the bottle doesn’t list sodium tetraborate on the ingredients – it just says: Boron (as Boron amino acid chelate) 3mg. Other Ingredients: Cellulose, Gelatin (Capsule).
Anyway – I think I will up it to 6mg a day (and take the two days off every week suggested) and see if that does the trick.
Thanks again for your time. 🙂
Can anyone tell me if Borax Powder BP (Boric Oxide) is suitable for the cures you talk about. If so at what dilution? Thanks, The Old Soul
Hi, I have suffered with various problems for the last 15 years, ME, chronic fatigue and diarrhea, endometriosis, adhesions on my bowel. I have not taken the advice of my doctor to go on hormonel treatment to stop my periods because all intervention that I have had in the past seem to have made things worse. I have spent a lot of money on alternative health trying to make things better but nothing as helped. I thought that taking the Borax might help though I was quite nervous about this. I bought a very pure one and I used about half the recommened dose. I only put a pinch in a quarter of a liter of water. I must have drank about half of a small glass and I stopped because I started to get some reactions.
Firstly my stomach is always swollen and sore but it almost became worse straight away, with a bubbling noise all over, later that night all painful areas flared up and I was coughing a lot, it was like my body was trying to clear something. Today I have terrible diarrhea to the point of passing water, whilst my stools are always loose, this is different, I have had to run to the toilet within an hour of eating. Because my stomach is tender anyway, things are really painful today. The one thing that does feel quite a bit better is that I can breath, for the first time in ages my sinuses feel clear. I suffer from allergies and my nose is always blocked. I cannot believe that such a small dose of anything could have such an impact and wonder why you think this might be? I read a lot of stuff here about the borax before taking it and I know that some people do have diarrhea as a side effect, though I did hear someone else say that it made their stools darker and more formed which was my hope. I just can’t believe that something this small, it was a pinch in loads of water of which I only drank a small amount could do this. I don’t think I can carry on and I am wondering what to do. It seems that what ever I try just seems to make it worse. I tried peppermint oil a while ago which seemed to help a bit but then the diarrhea got worse and my food started come through undigested. Please any idea as to what might be happening here and why such a small dose could have caused this to happen?
I have been taking the borax for a couple of weeks now. Started very slow because of severe reactions. The reactions died down after a few days and I started to get really positive results in terms of energy. I felt like I had more energy than I have had for years and for the first time in years I was able to exercise, which felt great. I also had less trouble with allergies. However the pain from my endometriosis is much worse and I am due to have my period in a day or so and the pain is almost unbearable. This also happened when I took progestrone cream which is meant to help. I feel really sad because I felt like I was getting my life back. I have read that borax increases estrogen which is not good for endometrosis but I have also read that it should balance estrogen rather than increase it. Can Ted or someone please please help me? Linda
Linda, It sounds like you might be helped by drinking 1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a large glass of water once or twice per day. Go to the Apple Cider Vinegar Cures page http://www.earthclinic.com/remedies/apple-cider-vinegar-uses-health-benefits-faq/ and see if that gives you any ideas.
Came across Borax suggestions elsewhere online a few days ago in my quest for home-based scabies treatments. Found this forum and its numerous benefits being discussed. I have been “out of balance” for most of my life, and it is getting worse now with fatigue and hypoxia (what you can feel when heat stroke is coming on) setting in after minimal sports exertion.
I also believe I have PCOS caused by medications taken in childhood but it is not confirmed – I have multiple symptoms of it including the chin and lip hairs beginning from age 13. I also have had chronic sleep problems in not getting continuous sleep at night, despite ensuring I am getting approx 8 hours each night. With no insurance and a complete loss as to how to pinpoint these multiple issues, I began the borax water today. 1 liter of bottled water mixed with 1/8 teaspooon of 20 Mule borax. I already take alpha lipoic, magnesium, and kelp supplements daily among other vitamins including D. I’ll try the 4 days on 3 days off and see how I feel. I’m prepared for initial “detox” symptoms but hope my magnesium intake will lessen them somewhat. Yes I read 4 pages of the forum before posting, and understand people’s skepticism initially.
Borax (and boron) much like iodine and sulfur has been used for thousands of years successfully but began to interfere with big pharma’s profits as industry “modernized”. The FDA has no interest except in keeping us sick through our food and protecting big pharma. Be very wary of their labelling and recommenations. (think, why would they scare people off iodine and iodized flour and bread, and get makers in the habit to put *gasp* bromine in food instead when iodine is helpful and bromine is the opposite??) Will post back here in a few weeks of 4 on/3 off of “boronated” water intake.
Hi everyone, I know Ted says that we should ingest 1/4 teaspoon of borax in 1 litre of dechlorinated/defluorodated water… Just wondering if it’s cool to add 1/4 teaspoon of borax to 1 litre of distilled water to drink??Thanks
For people that have concerns relating to borax mule 20. You can just go to health store or the nutrition dept. At the grocery store, here they carry the borax pellets for made human use.
This question is for Ted if possible. I want to try the Borax cure for extreme arthritis and fibromyalgia. I have had breast cancer that is estrogen and progesterone positive. This means I have too much estrogen and progesterone in my body that feeds the cancer. I am worried that taking the borax might have an effect on my hormones. I am past menopause and at this stage I should have very little hormones at all. I am doing ok with the cancer so don’t want to irritate that problem. I would so love to stop the pain associated with the other problems. Cannot keep taking over the counter pain relievers much longer without serious stomach problems. Many thanks to you all for your help.
I, too, am past menopause and have suffered for the last ten years from excruciating pain and sleeplessness. I, unlike you, have an over abundance of testosterone for a female (or had). I have some info for you that may or may not help. Here goes. I use lard in pie crust and lard to deep fry in (or peanut oil if i’m using my deep fryer). I use corn oil to make my own mayo. I also use sunflower oil or grapeseed oil for making italian dressing. I take efa and dha and evening primrose, borage, and flaxseed oils. Do not consume canola or soy oils! I take every antioxidant every day, and some of them twice a day. I take CoQ10, serraenzymes from “good health naturally”. I alternate herb x, citracidal, hydrogen peroxide, papaya enzyme, and apple cider vinegar to keep my digestion going. And, I drink a lot of twice filtered water. And, I just bought a distiller. I take echanacea and dmg (b15) to increase oxygen in my body. I also bought an oxygen enhancing breathing machine. Just know you have to use extreme sanitary measures to keep it free of “legionaires” bacteria or you could get pneumonia. If you cannot take borax in water internally, try a bath with 1 cup each borax laundry detergent and 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide (it’s a great way to get scabies out of your system). I use an essential oil mixture to spray myself down afterward. Don’t despair cindy, there are many things you can try. Just don’t give up.
Please try iodine for menopause. Stops the symptoms cold. 20 drops of the 5% solution a day in coffee or milk.
I would like to know what effects the Borax protocol would actually have on hormones. I have had fibromyalgia for over 25 years and now have arthritis so terribly I can hardly move across my kitchen. I have had breast cancer however. It was estrogen and progesterone positive. I had a low grade form of cancer and had it removed at biopsy. I did not take radiation or tamoxifen which was offered but chose to increase my iodine level. I don’t want to antagonize my cancer by doing the wrong thing. I have taken so many years of over the counter pain relievers I am afraid I can’t do it much longer. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
The research I’ve done on borax, suggests it’s a natural hormone replacement therapy. So no worries in that department.
I have a question regarding Ted’s Borax Cure.. I have recently purchased a bottle of Borax (sodium borate Cleaning Agent and Deodorizer from Laboratoire Atlas Inc. Montreal, Quebec, Canada) at Walmart’s pharmacy as they did not have the 20 Mule box in the laundry section. Other than what I have written above, there’s no other ingredient written on the bottle so I can assume its close to 100% borax?
Can this product be safe for human consumption using the required dosage taken from your site in 1L of water?
I need to know if Boric Acid is the same as Borax. I could not find Borax in Toronto. Best Regards, Azhi
Hi Azhi – Boric acid and borax are different. You can find borax in the laundry aisle in any supermarket in Toronto (common brand is 20 Mule Team Borax). It’s usually around the powdered bleach and washing soda boxes. Have you checked out all of the great ideas for using borax here in Earth Clinic? http://www.earthclinic.com/remedies/borax3.html#GF_61010 Cheers, Bess
Bess is absolutely RIGHT about this. Borax and boric acid are two entirely different compounds. And “20 mule team borax” is borax. Read the label to make sure you are not buying some soap mixture. Boric acid can be purchased from chemical suppliers and a very few hardware stores, and farm supply outlets. Boric acid is very inexpensive, but requires some effort to obtain. I have NO opinion on either compounds medicinal uses. I used a mixture of the two to rid my home of wood boring insects. And you need to use detailed instructions on how to create this mixture which requires proper ratios and heating to create. So borax and boric acid are two very different compounds. Many people get the two confused….Oscar
A quick update on my previous posting. Boric acid might be available at drugstores. I really do not know. I was buying it in bulk for treating my home for wood boring insects. I thought I should mention that because of the effort required to buy it in bulk or large amounts….Oscar
No, Boric acid is not the same as Borax. Do not use it as a substitute! It is used to kill roaches.
Borax turns into boric acid depending on pH. If the pH is low (acid) like in your stomach, borax turns to boric acid, if the pH turns high again (alkaline) like in your intestines, most of it will be borax again.
Boric acid and borax are about equally effective.
I got this info straight from Walter Last, who wrote the article on borax.
what is borax? or where can I get it ? I have found sodium percarbonate no perborate like the remedie says. the ingredient I have found it in many forms of detergent. would anyone help me and give me some guidance or products that will have it? thank you very much.
Hi Fabian… Borax is also called Sodium Borate or Sodium Tetraborate– sold as a white powder or hydrate. You can buy it as “20 Mule Team Borax”(from the washing isle of supermarkets) and use this to create a liter of water with a little borax in it to drink. To do this, take a liter of water and just add 1/8 tspn to it. Then drink a liter of this for four days only, then stop and take 3 days off(no borax water). Then start again. So, four days drinking borax water, then 3 days off — no borax water.
See this link: http://www.earthclinic.com/remedies/borax/
Or you can just buy Boron tablets (whose ingredients will also be listed as sodium borate or tetraborate) and take at least 6 mgs per day.
Borax helps to cure arthritis, helps to modulate the body’s hormones, removes body fluoride and is perhaps the ultimate fungal killer.
Coles sell “Bare Essentials” Borax. Found the safety data sheet on their website (pascoes.com.Au)it says it is not classified as a dangerous good according to the ADG code. The ingredient is Disodium Tetraborate Decahydrate 100%. Is this a safe one to ingest?
will borax kill all good and bad bacteria when you take it? i would also like to take kefir-how could I best do this? i appreciate your advise, thank you.
I read in the post awhile back about a man that had jock itch for years and washed with borax and it immediately felt better. Well I tried over the counter remedies and was going to go to the doctor to get something because it itching for a couple of months was becoming unbearable.
I tried different oils and it seemed to make the situation feel better, but no real change. I started using ACV and slowly I saw where the area was being cured. However, after dampening my cloth, sprinkling borax on it (the muletrain type), and washing with it, the itch IMMEDIATELY went away. after washing with it twice a day for 2 days, it seemed the entire rash was healed.
I now use borax as a body scrub and have a toenail fungus that I am going to try it on. I am using ACV, and it is slowly going away. But, if it worked that quick on the jockitch, Im sure it will knock out the toe fungus too.
Laugh if you will but is it possible for a woman to have jock itch because I get something that you could describe like that?! If borax treats it I assume it is fungal?
borax – overdose? help!
I have mis-read the instructions for taking borax. I have taken 1/8 teaspoon in a glass of water. Instead of in 1 litre of water. Should I be worried about this?
Hi Jill, I would just drink a lot of water throughout the day if I were you. I think you’ll be fine. Borax is as toxic as table salt.
I need clarification on just how much borax weekly and daily. Ted’s instructions are 1/8 tsp per liter taken weekly in divided doses throughout the day. Does this mean 1/8 tsp per liter everyday throughout the week or all of it in one day? And only one day. Need clarification if I am going to do it.
Hi Richard… Ted’s Borax remedy entails that you do the following:
* Mix 1/8 tspn(for women) or 1/4 tspn(for men) in one liter of water.
* Drink one liter of this mixture every day for only four days a week. So, that’s for days taking the mixture then three days off the mixture every week.
Hello: I am newly introduced to the concept of Borax for healing. And many posts that suggest 20 Mule Team Borax, sold in the USA, is for human ingestion, especially because 1/8 tsp is dissolved in 1 liter water. However, I am looking at the 20 Mule Team box now and its side panel specifically states the following:
#1. It’s ingredients is Sodium Tetraborate (a synonym for Sodium borate decahydrate or Borax). The box further states it contains no phosphates or chlorine.
#2. The box further states that its contents are not to be taken internally, first aid for ingestion is to drink milk or water/do not induce vomiting, call a physician immediately, not for drug use.
I’ve got an eMail into 20 Mule Team now to have them further qualify their no ingestion order.
What’s the deal? Is 20 Mule Team Borax safe or not safe for ingestion–please provide real reasons why. Thanks.
I copied this directly off the 20 Mule Team Borax site:
In earlier times, 20 Mule Team® Borax was proclaimed to be a magical crystal and was used to aid digestion, keep milk sweet and even cure epilepsy. Common sense and modern technology have brought us better solutions to these and other problems, but 20 Mule Team® Borax still has a place in your home.
I’ve tried Mule 20 with no problems but then I saw it in the pellet form in the health section of the store. it is the stuff you’ve seen at the Naturopathic dr office, anyhow it is Boiron Homepathic medicine, Borax in the pellet form. It is safe just follow the instructions on the bottle, You can buy it at most stores where they have a health food section or just do web search and go to trusted source like A____ and they will deliver it to your door! I hope that helps people.
Hi Ted! I add vitamin C in a form of magnesium ascorbate to my all day drinking water. Is it safe to add borax to it also? Will there be any interaction?Thank you! Alex
Have there been studies in which the excretion of fluoride has been shown to increase with the use of borax?
About this Borax material. I bought some of the Team Mule brand Borax in the laundry aisle and it warns that it should not be taken internally or used for medicine. I contacted them personally and they do not make any claims for human consumption. I understand that many people are uneasy about taking it because of these reasons. Can you shed any light on this? Are there any mainstream articles referring to the use of this substance? I’ve tried the pellets but they’re quite expensive for what you get. Thanks!
Steve, I’m sure someone can address this better than I, but I would like to offer my personal experience to you until a better explanation is posted. I too felt very nervous about consuming something that was labeled “not for human consumption. ” I remember reading that the toxicity of borax is about the same as is for salt. (I haven’t consulted any MSDS’s to prove that thought. I believe you could get those over the internet?) Anyway, I finally decided that 1) the dose was small- 1/8th of a teaspoon generally for women, 1/4 of a teaspoon for mean. 2)Even if it wasn’t good for me, it was basically just a little bit of soap? Also- not for human consumption doesn’t necessarily mean it will hurt you, just that a government agency won’t recommend it. That doesn’t mean it IS safe, but it may not mean it isn’t.
So, I did try the borax for arthritis pain. Reluctantly at first, but I was quite desperate. I have had GREAT results, and NO bad reactions. Within a few days my knee pain (I’m calling it arthritis, but I’m not sure what was all going on in my knees)was greatly improved. It felt like cement breaking up in my knees. I am still using the borax (along with ACV) most days. I take a break from it every once in a while. If I go too long the “cement” and pain in the knees comes back and I start back on the borax and it clears right up. I suggest it to so many people I know that sound like it might help- but so far no one will try it. They just can’t get over it not being made for human consumption. Such a shame. I was very close to having to go to an orthopedic surgeon before I tried the borax. I highly recommend it!
Steve, After I mentioned that borax is said to be less toxic than salt, I decided to look for its MSDS (material safety data sheet) on the internet and compare it to something most people would normal consider safe. I found the MSDS for borax and also Advil (ibuprofen). I thought it would be a good comparison. I’m not sure if you are familiar with MSDS’s. They can be pretty scary looking if you are not use to them. Hopefully it will make you feel more confident in trying borax and not scare you. Under section 11 is the toxicological information. Advil has a much more toxic than borax. Advil has a acute oral toxicity (LD50) of 495 mg/kg. Borax oral toxicity (LD50) is 2,400 mg/kg. It takes much less Advil to kill 50 percent of the test animals (rats usually) than it does borax. If I’m doing my math correctly, Advil is almost 5 times more toxic than borax? Anyway, here are the 2 links to the MSDS’s:
For borax http://www.sciencelab.com/msds.php?msdsId=9924967
For Advil http://www.sciencelab.com/msds.php?msdsId=9924344
Maybe this will help?
Hi – Re Borax… I take Boron every day in capsul form. It is amazing for arthritis. I used to have bad hand pain every morning, now I only have it when I have not taken my boron for a few days. I am wondering if Borax and Boron are similar or even the same thing? I am one of those people who has a hard time considering consuming laundry soap. Even in such small amounts, the thought of it is – pardon the pun – hard for me to swallow. 😉
In my opinion anyone with arthritis pain or osteoperosis would do well to look up boron on the search engines. Boron is one of the KEY components for building bone, along with Magnesium, Vitamin D-3 and Calcium. I try to keep my supplimental calcium intake at the lowest level possible and when I do take it it is a 1:1 ratio with Magnesuim. Vitamin D I take at leat 4,000 iu a day. I live in the North, and there is virtually zero sun here in the fall and winter. All I can say is if you have joint pain or bone issues – read up on all of the above – They are amazing! Here is to a Happy and Healthy New Year! Carly
Thanks for relating your experience with borax. I will try it for my poor big toe (not gout)! 1/8 tspn sodium borate in juice per day? Everyone is freaked out by me taking Lugols or suggesting H202. Sodium borate is great for athlete’s foot, gone in 2 days, just sprinkle it on.
Hi Becky, thanks for relaying your experience.. It has given me hope for my rheumatoid arthritis! I have been taking a licked fingertip of Borax mixed in an ACV/honey hot toddy every evening for 5 days and, while I’m not getting any Borax side effects, I’m not feeling any pain relief either. I know it was ages ago now, but just wondering if you remember how long you had to take it for before you felt any benefit? Ted has said 4 days on, 3 days off but I think I’m going to go for broke and keep going! 🙂 Did you take it with breaks or consistently? I’m a bit leery of taking it daily for weeks on end…
Hope you are still in good health.. And that it may have even gone away!
I take it most days. It's just the 20 Mule Team. I do the other, alternative mixture made thus: take a 1/2 litre bottle and put 1/2 a teaspoon in the bottom. Add a little boiling water to dissolve. Top up bottle with filtered water and put into fridge. One teaspoon of this mixture = 3 mgs of boron, so start with one teaspoon in a cup of tea or coffee, and when you find no problems with that, increase to 2 teaspoons a day, then 3 teaspoons a day. I take this probably 5 times a week, but it doesn't hurt if it's taken all the time. I find it has NO side-effects and it does reduce the pain of my rheumatoid arthritis. It certainly didn't kill me. I will add however, that I take 400 mgs of magnesium every day and apparently that helps your body use the boron where it's needed.
Borax is not any kind of soap..
When used to wash clothes it softens the water, making your laundry detergent more effective and you are able to use less detergent…
Just trying to clarify if the borax I bought is ok to use. Im in Australia and the only one I could get is Harpers powdered Borax. It says on container 99% MIN BORAX so I was just wondering if thats ok? Theres all this stuff on the bottle like “do not swallow” “CAUTION” and information about contacting poison info centre if ingested, so it got me a bit worried, is it ok to use. Ive already got dermatitis on my face so I cant afford to make that worse or damage my immune system anymore. Advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hi Brendan, I have taken this brand internally and found it safe. Many years ago I learned from a friend that quite a few people were using it internally after they had been to a Dr. Joel Wallach seminar and in those days that brand even had the label poison on the container. Under our laws as this product is not a poisonous substance it cannot be labeled as such. If a product/substance is deemed poisonous it has to be labeled as poisonous and you can go to the person/company selling it and ask for the MSDS Sheet (Manufacturers Safety Data Sheet) and they are required by law to give it to you. This gives the legal saftey info about the product. Even at the supermarket they will look it up and print one out for you.
My husband recently went to get borax from the supermarket and the Harpers brand is no longer available here and the only one they have is in a green container (hubby & shop assistant spent quite some time looking for it as neither knew it had changed). It has the standard “CAUTION – keep out of reach of children” and in very fine print on the back the poison hot line ph #. This container does not even have a caution about taking it internally. Borax in Australia I think has the saftey rating of S5, which requires it to have “Caution” on the label. Here is a site that has the definitions of these ratings: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_for_the_Uniform_Scheduling_of_Drugs_and_Poisons
Having said all this the dose makes the therapy or the poison. Just as salt has a level that makes it a poison for us so does Borax. Boric Acid is the one that is considered HIGHLY TOXIC for internal use. So I would NEVER use it. Here is a site for some info on boric acid:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boric_acid
All the best in finding what works for you.
After re-reading my post I need to clarify when I said I would never use Boric Acid I meant – I would never use it internally. As I do not have the skill to neutralize the acid nor would I bother to try when borax (99% or more pure) is available to us.
Hi Maria from Gippsland, That is really helpful info. I’ll remember about the MSDS sheets, I never knew that but it could be useful. Thankyou.
Bill, since alot of Earthclinic readers are not comfortable using 20 Mule Team Borax because in the laundry section, can you review the two links below to see if they are Borax, this suppose to be USP grade. http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/search/search.php?refine=y&keywords=Borax powderhttp://www.mountainroseherbs.com/learn/borax_powder.php
Hi Peter… I would certainly not use the brand you have found because it is specifically a cosmetic form of borax — for topical use only. In the specification, it says that it only contains 70% borax, also containing Sodium Oxide as well as small amounts of Chloride. I certainly would not ingest this form of borax.
If I could, I would simply use the 20 Mule Team Borax as recommended by Ted. Unfortunately they don’t sell it in the Phillipines, but I have managed to buy chemical grade borax(sodium Tetraborate) in Thailand(99% pure) but you will probably have great difficulty purchasing chemical grade borax cheaply in the US. So the only option open to you will be to purchase chemical grade borax through the internet. This may be expensive.
Can anyone tell me if this homeopathic borax I’ve been reading about that you can order on Amazon is any good? Does it work like the borax powder you buy in the grocery store? It seems very expensive so I just wanted to know the opinions of anyone who has tried it or knows a lot about it. Thanks, Mama
When you guys refer to Borax, are you talking about 20 Mule Team Borax, or something else? Thanks.
Need to know from Ted if drinking 1/8 th teaspoon of Twenty Mule Team Borax in Liter of Purified water is safe for those of us with high blood pressure? I am on Atenolol 50 mg per day but want to try it to help with Morgellons.
Can i use borax to heal my ear infections since its safe for the eyes?
I note that 1/8 teaspoon of borax in a litre of water is recommended as a detox for the relief of pain in many ailments. Borax is considered a poison, so how can this recommended remedy not affect the kidneys and liver if used over a long period of time?
Borax was removed from poisons list in 2001. Pat Coleby, natural farming/animal expert in Australia prescribes Borax for treatment of arthritis in horses. ACV is also high in Boron.
Please don’t go overboard in your reactions to using borax.
On one hand, it is not the toxic insecticide some imagine. The mechanism by which it kills bugs is by contact. They get a particle of borax on them, it burns a hole in the wax coating on their shells, they dehydrate. That’s not going to happen to humans.
On the other hand, it is a micro nutrient, meaning your body doesn’t need and can’t use much. Big doses over a long period aren’t a good idea. In concentration it kills pretty much every bacteria, virus and fungus which is handy for a lot of uses but not for your body. I wonder what it does to the friendly flora in your gut.
By the way, try putting a teaspoon each of sugar and borax in your Christmas tree water next year. It will stay green into spring.
I think you may be confusing borax with boric acid powder, which IS used to kill insects by contact.
I have really severe fibromyalgia and will be in a wheel chair in a few years if I don’t do something about this, so I’m really glad that I found earth clinic. I am going to try the borax, h2o2, acv, baking soda, magmesiun, vitamin b’s and colloidal silver. I am only 35 with four small children and I live in constant pain with chronic fatigue and everything else that goes with it. This ailment has stolen from me the joy of parenthood. These years should be an absolute treasure for me – not misery.
I also have a child with type 1 diabetes that we have been trying to cure for 6 years now. Can I give her (11years) borax and or h2o2? She must be full of flouride if I am. I know everyone says that you can’t cure it but our bodies rebuild themselves and correct themselves if we bring them back to balance with what we take out, and what we put in. What do you think?
Thanks for your time,Mama
This is to the_phoenix:
Thank you so much for responding to my concerns. It made me cry reading your response (but in a good way). I am going to follow your very sound advice and not try too many things at once. Maybe just one at a time. And I will study up on the things you suggested, because they sound like they might be of help.
My children are growing way too fast and I’m afraid that when I’m finally better and able to get down on the floor and play with them, and run around outside with them; that I’ll look to find them all grown up – and I missed it!I want so bad to have the energy that I need. They drug me out of the house for the first time this winter, and I climbed up the tiny little snow hill that they had made – put myself in the sled and slid down the tiny drop. They wanted me to go down again but with all of us on it; but I had just used up all the energy I had and laid in the snow for 20 minutes trying to get enough energy to go back to the house.
They looked so sad! I let them down again and it hurts a lot to see them disappointed. They know that Mommy doesn’t feel well and they know that if I could – I would, but they just deserve more then I can give them.
I sooo wish that once I’m better that I could go back and be the Mother I set out to be, when we decided to have children. I had it all planned out, there was nothing I wanted more – I could see it in my mind… many trips to the beach, to the parks, to the zoos, baking cakes and cookies, playing all day outside in the sun, all that fun stuff; but since my first child was born; it still hasn’t happened.
Finding earth clinic has made me feel not so alone in this, and I’m reading about new things I haven’t tried. (really I haven’t tried much, I’ve spent the last 10 years trying to cure the rest of my family of their issues). But you are right… It’s time I look after me, because they need me to be healthy and I need me to be. I know that I can do this… I just have to.
Thanks again for your input,Mama
Hi Mama, I was very touched by what you wrote. I relate to it very much as I have had a rough last 4 years with my physical issues which seemed to hit me overnight. It has been quite a process but I just want to encourage you to not give up! There have been moments when I felt so discouraged but then, something would rise up from inside of me and fight! Then again, I’ve always been that way. I too have 2 young children and know how you can feel that you are disappointing them. I have 3 much older ones who I had when I was younger and I could ride bikes with them, have races, hike, rollerblade etc. but can’t do that with these two who are 13 and my daughter who turned 11 the other day. Still, they are so patient with me and understanding. My son carries my bags for me all the time without prompting so imagine the lessons he is learning for some young woman some day!
Anyway, I have had major breakthroughs since last Oct with juicing and raw foods. All the excruciating pain is gone! I still have hip issues but I feel rejuvenated in my resolve that one day that will be gone too. I have a ballet studio that I teach at everyday but I can no longer demonstrate the steps. My kids are well-trained so they can learn the steps with me talking them through and they take turns showing the steps as I talk them through so it’s an opportunity for them to really grow and what a lesson for me to let go!
I don’t know if you have read any of my posts and I hesitate to reiterate as I’m sure many readers might think it’s quite redundant. Still, I would highly recommend that you listen to Dr. Brian Clement on youtube who is so very inspiring. I have been in contact with two women that I have met from this site that we now correspond and both of them could not believe how his information has impacted them. He has literally helped thousands to overcome debilitating illnesses through changing their eating habits/lifestyles. I no longer NEED naps in the afternoon before I return to the studio, I can walk distances again and I am out of constant pain. I attribute it to the green juices I drink every morning now and eating a lot of raw veggies and adding in lots of sprouts and now sea veggies.
Please take care of yourself. Remember, you are the hub of the wheel. Love yourself enough to do that and remember, the more we love, the more love we have to give. And you are not alone. I’m glad you were encouraged by this site.
BTW, sisters out there, there is a fantastic program going on right now to empower women sexually, spiritually, physically and emotionally. Some of the top people in human potential are speakers in it. It is only running for two weeks and is completely free. It only started yesterday but go immediately and check it out as each speaker is only posted for a number of hours and each speaker speaks for an hour! It is at wishsummit.com for those interested. Enjoy!
To your health!Peace,Lisa
To Lisa from Thousand Oaks: Thankyou so much for all of your encouragement. I will look at those you tube videos that you recommended. I am starting to feel somewhat better already. The peroxide therapy and the Borax are really working. The non processed food diet and allergen avoidance is a real help too. I test everything with Kinisiology first to see if my body likes it. My husband and I have become quite good at it and it never fails to be accurate. My energy has gone up quite a bit.
Thanks again,Mama 🙂
To The_Phoenix: I did register, I'm not sure if it worked or not, I didn't receive any confirmation from EC. I don't really know how to follow threads – I'm very new at this site. I would love to hear of any more help though. And guess what… I decided to do just the Borax and H2O2 and I'm starting to feel better! I have more energy and actually made it upstairs for the first time all winter! I even cleaned the living room. Do you think it would be too much if I start Oil Pulling? I hear so many good reports about it. Or should I just stick with what I'm doing for now? I also forgot to tell you that I am avoiding all processed foods and basically eating just rice, beans, potatoes, raw and cooked fresh veggies, raw juices, molasses and raw honey. I'll add more later but for now, these are the only things that don't make me flare up really bad. Oh, and raw bee pollen. (apparently you can live on that stuff!)
Thanks again for all your help, Mama 🙂
This is MAMA,(with Fibromyalgia) and this is to THE_PHOENIX and anyone interested. Thank you very much for all the time you have taken to help me. I haven’t been on for a while, and just checked in and read all that you wrote, Wow – thanks! I was sad to hear about your arthritis but then happy to hear that you’re doing better. I will tell you why I haven’t been on for awhile – I HAVE ALL THIS ENERGY NOW THAT I CAN’T SIT STILL!!!! It’s the H202! And I’m sure of it. I have been taking the BORAX too but not as much as I should. I am up to 25 drops of H202 3xday and feeling energy like I did when I was 16!
The muscle pain has not been as good as it was a few weeks ago,I kind of slacked off on the BORAX, maybe I need to step it up again, I can’t get on my knees or raise my arms like before – but this energy this is AWESOME. I was also out for a walk in the woods with my husband and he was totally in shock, because normally I don’t walk anywhere that I don’t absolutely have too cuz I would need to be very careful at what I used my energy up on (which was almost nothing.) The family is really enjoying the better meals too, cuz when I don’t feel well- I choose things to prepare that take as little effort as possible (without neglecting nutrition of course).
When I was taking 1/4tsp BORAX, (and I know that Ted says only 1/8 for women)I felt very little pain, so I might have to concentrate on doing both.
Know what? I think I’m really going to be able to beat this, and be able to help encourage other sufferers as you have me. I look very closely at what you recommend any try my best to take your advice (I guess I trust you don’t I?)
Well I’m off to make a nice big fancy dinner to welcome in the weekend, and then tomorrow I’ll clean the house! Can’t believe I just said that!
Thanks again to THE_PHOENIX.
P.S. Any readers out there that suffer from Fibro or Chronic Fatigue – you just have to read up on HYDROGEN PEROXIDE and also BORAX! (and stay away from grains, sugar, and dairy.)
To “Mama”…. You might also try acetyl l-carnitine, which you have to take hand in hand with alpha lipoic acid. It’s what got me out of bed and I’ve lost 12 pounds in 2 months because of it. It helps your mitochondrial function. Additionally, d-Ribose for your muscles… They need repair and it’s a simple form of sugar. Probably, you could also benefit from free form amino acids for the same reason. I’m battling this myself right now. As with everything, you must keep your activity in check and not overdo it when you feel good. I’m so guilty of this myself. You’re not completely healed yet, so you might have flares. WE ARE ALL GOING TO BEAT THIS!! Just goes to show we don’t need all the pharmaceuticals we’re made to believe 🙂
Diabetes, Kidneys, and Borax
Hi, I registered on the earthclinic site, haven’t figured out how or where post new questions, thus the reason for this email. I have recently read a pdf from the borax company which concerns me – I will keep this short – I have diabetes – So I am worried about using borax. Will borax cause kidney damage in someone who may have diminshed kidney function? – but then I am only going on what I read in the pdf. Also I am morbidly obese
here is the quote from the pdf:
‘Note to physicians: Observation only is required for adult ingestion in the range of 4-8 grams of Borax. For ingestion of larger amounts, maintain adequate kidney function and force fluids. Gastric lavage is recommended for symptomatic patients only. Hemodialysis should be reserved for massive acute ingestion or patients with renal failure. Boron analyses of urine or blood are only useful for documenting exposure and should not be used to evaluate severity of poisoning or to guide treatment.’
I really want to beat this thing. I was diagnosed 2 years ago – I gave up sugar, pasta, white bread, msg, junk food etc – Trying to learn to love exercise! I wont use sugar substitutes – I take NO medications whatsoever! I want to be healthy, for years I did not, I just didn’t care.
Please advise. Thank you, Lana
One teaspoon of granulated white sugar is equal to about 4.2 grams. Borax is probably similar enough to sugar to compare, so one teaspoon is 8 times the recommended 1/8 teaspoon. Plus, in this information nothing was said about the period of time over which the borax is taken. Always follow protocols as given. Do not think you are smarter with a better way. Think things through; avoid impetuosity; address all aspects of your life (sleep, love, exercise, diet, work, giving burdens and grudges to God… ).
I am on day 5 of Ted’s borax remedy. I am treating what I believe it a fungal condition that I’ve had for over 10 years now (starting with athlete’s foot I picked up at the dojo) and for fluoride removal.
I am taking a little less than 1/8th of a teaspoon in 1 litre of distilled water. I have not experienced any side effects with kidney pain like two people have recently reported on the site. However, when I tried this remedy about 2 years ago I did get kidney pain the second day because I had not read Ted’s dosage carefully. The problem was (I think) that I did not dilute the borax in enough water… 2 years ago I think I put 1/8th of a teaspoon in 16 ounces of water, rather than 1 litre of water. 16 US fluid ounces = 0.473176473 litres!! Additionally, I did not use distilled water like I am now, but Brita filtered water (which doesn’t remove chlorine). Perhaps using distilled water makes a difference. This time around I am making sure to err on the side of caution since I want to continue this for some time. I plan to take it 5 days on, 2 days off. If I have any side effects, I will stop for a few days and continue with even less borax.
Rob from New York mentioned that he had vivid dreams on the first night of taking borax for vertigo. I did too. In fact I had a strange dream about coughing up some nasty looking phlegm! Hopefully that was a sign that the borax is indeed detoxing my body. Will post more as time goes by…
I did an experiment Saturday and added 1/8th teaspoon of borax to 1 liter of tap water filtered with a relatively new Brita filter (instead of steam distilled water, which I have been using since last week). I drank the entire liter during the course of the day and by nightfall, all of my joints ached like crazy and I had some brain fog. Same symptoms as when you are getting the flu. Awful!! Sunday I took the day off from the borax remedy, drank a ton of water, and my aching joints and brain fog gradually went away… I’d say it took about 24 hours for the symptoms to pass. Yesterday and today I have resumed the borax remedy but am using the steam distilled water that I bought at the grocery store. I feel fine, no side effects. So I think the kind of water used does make a difference. I would be curious to hear from other people doing the borax remedy (especially those experiencing side effects) what type of water they are using.
I might also add that on Saturday I tried DMSO for the first time (will submit separate feedback on that), but I don’t think it had much to do with the side effects I was experiencing. Thought I’d mention it nonetheless.
Deirdre, What brand of Borax did you use ? Thanks !
to Deirdre about the borax and filtered water. I also did the borax 1/8th teaspoon in I litre of (tap) water and the first two days I had brain fog and a strange slight pain in my kidneys. I stopped using it and the next week I tried it again with no side affects and no change of water type. I think it is just the initial few days that give some people grief. I went back to it because of the lovely sleepy feeling it gave me at night and it helped to cure my insomnia.
I have only done the borax remedy about 8 times since I wrote my first feedback on the subject. Since I plan on doing this for quite some time, I am not especially in a hurry. I haven’t done the remedy in over a week. I follow a fairly intuitive process regarding the remedy each morning… to do or not to do! Nay is the response as of late. I had flu symptoms appear 2 of the 8 times and I think it may have been because I drank a large amount of water (after I got home from training), rather than sipping the liter of water throughout the day which Ted recommends. As I mentioned in post #2, I got severe aching in the joints. Another time I suddenly got an intense pressure on my crown, just above my forehead, which felt rather like the beginnings of a fever. I clobbered the side effects (or an actual flu, I will never know for sure) with the hydrogen peroxide inhalation method and 1 adult dose of aspirin right before bed. When I woke up the next morning, no symptoms.
Two people have emailed me about the kind of borax I am using — it’s 20 Mule Team.
Final note: I have lowered my borax dosage to 1/16 teaspoon to 1 liter of steam distilled water.
In my 1st trial of the Borax remedy, I used 1/4 tsp to a liter of bottled water (reverse osmosis) I only took what would amount to about 4 ounces in the evening. (a few sips) As stated the effect was rather positive.
I had experienced a clarity of sleep & dreaming that I rarely experience. Reminded me of when I was young. However continuing the next day…with only about 6 to 8 ounces more I did not experience the same effect the 2nd night..I had some tenderness in my back but could attribute it to my anxiety over ingesting this from what others have reported. I decided to try the supplement, Boron, instead to see if it had the same effects, which it did not. (dosage on label) I perceived no effect from it. Since then I have tried Borax once more (1/8 tsp to a liter) a few sips before bed. & what I experienced was an elevation of body temperature (slight night sweating) and increased dream recall though not as pronounced as my 1st trial… In summary, I like the effects of this remedy though cannot confirm that it doesn’t cause any harm. (I would imagine most Doctors reading this thinking we are crazy for ingesting this stuff) Still, considering that it is no more toxic than table salt, (wiki) I will continue with occasional trials & run it by my Dr. If he gives me a firm no… I will stop.
Hello Ted. It is great to see you back and posting here on EC!
I didn’t know if I should e-mail you directly, since I had read on here that you were recieving alot of spam and was not opening some of your mail. ( So correct me if I am wrong and I will send to you.)
I do alot of reading about natural cures and alternative medicines, on alot of different websites…I did your borax 1/4 teaspoon in liter of water 5 days on 2 days off for six weeks for a terrible rash I had on my arms and it did seem to work very well for a while, but the rash does still occasionally flare up. When I drank the borax I noticed no bad side effects that some people report… The only thing that I noticed was a darker color stools ( Bowel Movement ) and NOT hard, but dryer and very dark. And it starts after the first day of drinking the borax water, a few days off stool goes back to normal medium brown color.
So my first question is why the dark stools?
Also viewing serveral other websites, such as Naturalnews.com,( Who for the the most part agrees and reports almost everthing that you report )
They have a VERY DIFFERENT view on BORAX and SOY. Both of which they say are POISIONS and NOT to put in or on your body… I am not very good with computers and do not know how to post the source here, but if you visit thier website Naturalnews.com and in their search box, type in borax, these articles will come up that really condemn the use of borax, even calling it a poison in the HPV vaccine and soy they say is a poison also.
So my second question why do they disagree with you on these issues, when they agree with you on so many other things???
Also, they promote BORON as being great…So can we use BORON suppliments and get the same results as we do with Borax? ( as in anti fungal and nano- bacteria )
And my last question. I would ask you a million if I could! LOL! But I know you are a very busy man. I find it very fasinating, how much knowledge you have on all subjects and I do know you have a chemistry background…
What would be the best approach for me to become a healer using alternative medicines? Is there certain studies I should take or certain schools you would recommend? I mainly want to heal myself, but I do know, I would probably need a licsense if I where to ever open a practice or store.
I know that there are tons of natural healers out there and alot of them do totally opposites of what others do. Is one method better than the other and if so what is the very best one?
Sincerly I THANK YOU, for all that you do!
Get any multiple vitamin and mineral supplements that have boron. The ingredients will likely be borax, but they will use chemical names, which is still the same thing. Sodium tetraborate, and other synonyms.
I used to moonlight as an industrial chemist and we used borax as the main ingredients for the boron supplements that you take in your mineral and vitamin supplements. A borax is a boron.
As to the schools, I don’t subscribe to any schools as my training were a knowledge I gained from observations and studies in anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, chemistry and microbiology. I am what you call as conventional as you can get and it’s application directly applies from these hard sciences. These other healing practices, that conflicts with me is most likely didn’t know that borax and boron are actually the same thing. It’s an essential mineral.
As to your questions of dark stool, the borax flushes out dead blood cells and other toxic substances, such as fluoride. Hence the black dark color is gone the next day. It also gets rid of excessive calcium out of the tissue, giving more muscular mobility, hence the dryness of the stool. Since I prescribe to none of the school the one theory I have is based on basics in biology, which is a concern about the body achieving balance, or homeostasis (in biology), equilibrium (in nature), symbiosis (in life), conservation (in nature), the middle path (in Buddhist philosophy), the balance between Yin and Yang(Chinese philosophy and Tibetan medicine), optimization (in economics and production and operations management) are some of the examples when we used differences in our language schema of things, but the general philosophy is one and the same, to achieve balance.
My approach is basically simple, that you can follow, which is basically common sense, insight, observation and principles that people can go prove to themselves. In healing arts the one thing that can never lie to you is your body. regardless of what every one says. I did conduct seminar years ago as part of college event where we can talk on any topics, which basically discusses my approach toward the healing arts. However, people were more interested in perfumery, stock markets, or subprime mortgage, or laser surgery hence the course was discontinued, from lack of students. I can’t blame them, these students are healthy, so the interests in healing arts are not popular here.
As a side note, my formula which uses of 30% salicylic acid in a lotion, with 1% aloe vera oil works many times better than laser surgery on scar tissue. But customers by nature are more interested in technology rather than efficacy. It seems that marketing has overshadow the issue of health.
I hope this answers some of your questions and I am certain I didn’t address all of your questions. You just have to understand that websites, doctors, and lawyer have something in common with musical artists. You can have a bad music artist or you have a good music artist. Their abilities from one person to the next are not the same. If they were, Britney Spears or Elvis Presley could never become that popular. LOL.
Hello Ted and others. Since this last post I found an article on Naturalnews.com that SUPPORTS the use of 20 Mule team borax as a detox for floride. It gives the same directions that Ted gives here.
Here is the link and it is under boron on this page. When I typed this in it said link broken and did I mean and I clicked on that and the page came up…So I hope this works for you all.
I have found very little on borax other than here on Earth Clinic…
We explore and find more info everyday.
Hi Phil from Dearing Ga. If you look down at the sources you will see Earth Clinic’s name as the source. I’ve notice this a lot on Natural News, seems they quote Ted frequently.
Is Borax 1/4 tsp with 1 Liter of tap water just as effective than using distilled or filtered water ? Also, with 1 ltr container using 1/4 tsp borax, can the acv and sea salt be added and if so how much much in the 1liter water?
I am VERY confused. Does anyone have a website in the states that I can buy the Borax that I can drink. I keep reading aritcle after article that contradicts the previous one or uses different names for what I think might also be Borax. Anyone that uses Borax should consistently stick with that word so know one becomes as confused as I am. I want to try this so badly but am not sure which to get OR where to buy it. I understand that I use 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon of Borax in 1 liter of warm water. I want the water warm so it disolves the Borax so it won’t cause pain in the Kidneys. BUT where do I find the type of Boras that can be INGESTED and is it the SAME one that I would shampoo with and use instead of soap. Some one please help by posting AND emailing me this information. Thx
Hi Gary from New York City, You are correct, it is the 20 Mule Team you find in the Laundry Isle that is most popular on the Borax thread. I have been using it as a shampoo and body wash, and love it. However, my daughter that has thick straight hair said it dries her hair out. Mine on the other hand is naturally curly and seems to be doing just fine.
I have several times put a few pinches of the borax in my drinking water maybe a couple of times a month (when I have drunken fluoridated water) to flush out the fluoride. If you were ever to see my teeth, you would understand why I am so anti-fluoride. I have been doing this for over a year, and had no negative effects. I still don’t even need any deodorant and its hot out side in this Georgia summer. I do perspire a good deal, but there is no odor, and you want to perspire to flush out toxins.
I use a 32 ounce container and put about 1/4 cup borax and fill the rest of the container with hot water and shake. This amount last me at least 2 weeks maybe longer. Peace, Rena.
Can you tell me the difference between Diatomaceous Earth- Food Grade, and Borax? Do they both kill one cell creatures? Does one or the other carry more oxygen? I have heard of people using DE for Morgellons too. Can you use Borax in the garden like DE?
In response to using diatomaceous earth in lieu of boron, I really don’t think the two are even close to the same thing. DE is simply the fossilized remains of diatoms, which are a type of algae with hard silica shells; therefore, DE is mostly silica. I believe there is a bit of iron and aluminum also but I’m not positive.
Borax Mixture and Dosage: I’ve read quite a bit over the weekend about borax. I ordered some of the 20 Mule Team on line because I have never seen it here in our stores. It sounds like it is good for osteoarthritis and depression so, I would like to try it. I am a little confused about how to mix it and the suggested daily dosage. I believe most people are saying 1/8 teaspoon in 1 liter of water. Then, I take it you ingest this but I haven’t been able to find how much and how many times per day. Please help. Thanks.
I have been using Borax (quarter tsp to 1 litre of water) for about 2 weeks now. How soon should I expect some kind of results? Should it make my urine yellow? This is the 20 Mule brand and said that it’s 99.5% pure. I hope this is one one everyone else is speaking about.
I am really trying to see if it would help my energy level along with my focus as I have difficulties blocking noises out. I read somewhere that a professor did an experiment with his students give them 10mg of boron and had some pretty good results.
I was reading earlier about Borax, so I went to the market to investigate. The label on the box says something like “Do not Ingest” and “Do not use for medicine” Is this just another ploy from the FDA to scare us into not using it? I read that it would help for asthma in the prevention of pnemonia and I just wanted to make sure I was looking at the right package.
I saw the same thing but I have seen so many people say its safe to ingest 1/8 tsp in 1 liter water once a day for 1-3 days on you tube that seem to really know their stuff. Its sodium tetraboron and If it kills Candida, Morgellons and many other issues and makes my body more alkaline, which we all know cancer cannot start or proliferate in, Then I am going to try it 2 days. I will try to be the guinea pig for all to see.
I do not trust anything the FDA or CDC say anymore. They are the same fools that keep saying child vaccinations are safe and Geoengineering (AKA Chemtrails) don't exist when each morning in Denver I see Aluminum, Barium and Strontium falling all over my patio which are destroying my lungs. I gotta do something before it kills me. I've been to Drs 3 x in 2 months and they have absolutely ZERO knowledge about things like this. We are on our own.
Hi, I am considering the use of Borax, internally and topically, in an attempt to alkalize and rid myself of a skin condition that I believe to be rosacea or dermatitis. I am cautious, however, about the safety of this chemical. I am aware that ‘natural’ products beneficial to human health have and can be co-opted by pharmaceutical companies etc. but would appreciate any additional information or first-hand experience with Borax. Thanks mucho!
I’ve read many things on the internet stating that borax is toxic and should not be taken. How are you sure there are no long term effects that can be caused from taking it internally for a month? I’m not familiar with it at all, but most websites say it’s just like bleach, and I would imagine something like bleach could cause stomach cancer or things like that if taken internally, not to mention just mess up your organs. I’m willing to give it a try if its completely safe, but why do so many sites say it’s not? Are we thinking of the same “borax” or there is different types?
I was wondering if Boric Acid is safe for internal use. I’m well aware of the mass disinformation when it comes to alternative medicine, but when I see the word “POISON” surrounded by two skulls and crossbones, I get a bit intimidated. I’ve done enough research to say that it probably IS safe, but I’d just like to ask others for a bit more comfort. I have 20 Mule Team Borax coming in the mail soon, so it doesn’t really matter…but is powdered Boric Acid safe to at least bathe with?
20 Mule Team Borax ingredients
Ingredients: 100% Borax, a naturally occurring mineral composed of sodium, boron, oxygen and water. That’s it! What Is Borax? Borax, or sodium borate, is a naturally occurring alkaline mineral first discovered over 4000 years ago. It is found in large quantities in the Western United States as well as in the Tibet area of China.
Note: I googled the above information.
I used Borax to releive the itching and irritation from a yeast infection. This was the advice of my gynocologist. I have done this several times and had immediate results without having to use messy creams and sepositories. Take one teaspoon of 50 mule borax and combine with about 2 & 1/2 cups of warm water. Mix together until the borax is dissolved and put in a douche bottle or bag. I found that the bag works best because you can do this in the shower without a lot of effort or cleanup. Douche away at the first signs of the yeast infection. I would only have to do this once a day for about 2 or 3 days. It’s natural, safe and effective. Borax is also found in lipsticks and lip gloss. I think it’s been given a bad rap for years because it’s cheap to produce and when used properly, won’t cause any other diseases. If no one had any diseases, how would the pharmaceutical companies make their money?
I want to talk to people who have tried this remedy. I am interested but uncomfortable ingesting borax. Thanks, Mary
I notice that many people on this site are advocating internally ingesting borax as a cure for various problems. This is not a good thing to promote, as borax is harmful when ingested. I use borax mixed with sugar as a natural ant killer – it kills off an ant problem in 2-3 days. This indicates a level of toxicity that shouldn't be treated lightly. When I cook up the mixture, I wear gloves and a facemask to prevent breathing in the fumes. The following excerpt about borax toxicity is from Wikipedia:
Start of excerpt:
"Borax, sodium tetraborate decahydrate, is not acutely toxic. Its LD50 (median lethal dose) score is tested at 2.66 g/kg in rats. This does not mean that it is safe, merely that a significant dose of the chemical is needed to cause severe symptoms or death. Simple exposure can cause respiratory and skin irritation. Ingestion may cause gastrointestinal distress including nausea, persistent vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Effects on the vascular system and brain include headaches and lethargy, but are less frequent. "In severe poisonings, a beefy red skin rash affecting palms, soles, buttocks and scrotum has been described. With severe poisoning, erythematous and exfoliative rash, unconsciousness, respiratory depression, and renal failure."
…Boric acid solutions used as an eye wash or on abraded skin are known to be especially toxic to infants, especially after repeated use because of its slow elimination rate."
End of excerpt.
Note the use of the words "acutely toxic". Just because Borax isn't acutely toxic does not mean that it isn't toxic, just that it doesn't kill immediately. Please don't fool around with internally ingesting this stuff – it may seem like a harmless white powder that seems to do some good, but there are good reasons why it's banned as an additive to foodstuffs in many countries.
Borax or sodium tetraborate hexahydrate, or related name is a boron mineral that is an essential minerals for mammals but are toxic for insects, parasites and hence is used to get rid of parasites and has a unique anti-fungal.
Most reported toxicity is boric acid, which is the acid component of boron, but the sodium borate is an alkaline component so it’s toxicity is low. Israel has the world’s lowest arthritis and rheumatism because the borax content high in their drinking water is high. Boron deficiency leads to osteoporosis and many problems associated with candida, lichen planus, and the like. I was once chemical industrialist and we used boron compounds added into infant formula and multivitamins to prevent boron deficiency. One of the most unique features of borons is it’s toxicity of 2000 mg/kg of LD50 is equivalent toxicity equal to that of sodium chloride, which is salt. The single most unique element is boron I used is to fight against metastatic cancer rather successfully when taken along with two other critical components, lecithin taken before and after every meals, and alkalization also. Boron raises the body’s immune system by normalizing the body’s hormone system and raises libido and sexual impotence and has some unique viagra like properties in both men and woman. Boron is an essential minerals in stabilizing calcium and magnesium components in the blood. Its anti cancer properties of boron or borax owes it to the fact it can kill fungus, reduce mycotoxins and which is really the cause behind cancer, arthritis, candida, and polycystic ovarian syndrome. It reduces excessive calcification of the pineal gland which is the control center of the biological clock and is used to detoxify or reduce the toxicity of fluoridated water. In fact this is the antidote I used to prevent myself from death of accidental fluoride poisoning during my laboratory work with hydrofluoric acid. I wouldn’t be hear typing this post if it hadn’t been for borax saving my life on a couple of ocassions. One common poisoning that parents worry is when children eat up the almost most of the toothpaste tube and borax has saved their life. The toxicity of fluoride we used in toothpaste is actually more than 10 times more toxic than borax. Borax toxicity of LD50 is equal to that of Salt, which is safer than some of the pharmaceuticals that is FDA approved. Because of its effectiveness in most remedies, the fact that its an essential mineral and that it has saved my life, boron isn’t going to go away that easily. Think of it this way: what happens if your child has accidental fluoride poisoning from toothpaste and doctors say there’s nothing you can do about it?
Here’s some information on the mineral boron you might find surprising…
“Prior to 1981 boron was thought to be unimportant in human nutrition. Since then numerous animal and human studies have established it as essential for normal growth and for hormones involved in bone metabolism, and for normal balanced levels of estrogen and testosterone.
A 1988 study by Neilsen and Prasad “Essential and Toxic Trace Elements in Human Health and Disease,” found that boron is essential for the manufacture of several hormones. Overaggressive marketing claims touted boron for high testosterone levels; this is false, boron only helps the body to maintain normal levels. Of course without those normal levels many facets of enjoyable living will suffer. The U.S. Department of Agriculture conducted a study on boron and found that within eight days of boron supplementation of 3 milligrams, the test group of postmenopausal women showed 40% less loss of calcium and 33% less loss of magnesium through their urine than before boron supplementation. In spite of this study and numerous others, boron has yet to be added to the “Essential Nutrient” list and given an RDA intake level.
Strangely this complete article has vanished from the web! You have to ask yourself why? This article by inference explains that boron is a very cheap viagra… Pharmy would lose billions of dollars if men switched from viagra to boron… and it’s good for osteoarthritis and old women’s bones too!… but it’s also another sad example of how the government protects big pharmy by withholding and manipulating information.
The old pharmacology of using silver, gold and alkaloids like boron is so effective at treating illnesses that it is a direct threat to the existence of current pharmacy methods and the AMA. This is how the pharmacy holdings get into the play of things… its now about racketeering and ill gotten gains, by failing to report these simple truths.
The reason the internet is currently flooded with warnings about boron is simply because Big Pharmy would lose billions of dollars if everyone knew the truth and what they fail to tell you is that all plants would die without boron and that it’s a necessary mineral required by humans. The daily requirement is from 3mg to 6mg a day and up to 45mg a day is useful for treating deficiencies.
I found USP grade boron on ebay for about 8.00 per pound which is about a two year supply. While on the subject of minerals, researchers have recently discovered why the body requires zinc… it turns out that there is one molecule of zinc at the very base of your dna and if you are deficient in zinc the body simply cannot properly duplicate your dna!
Before you believe internet propaganda about the dangers of vitamins and minerals and natural cures please remember that if you’re too healthy from taking cheap natural cures you will fail to spend thouands of dollars on doctors and toxic Rx’s that hide symptoms and do nothing to eradicate disease!!!! Always ask yourself who and where your information is coming from and who stands to profit from it? Wishing you all the best of health.
I just had to say, AMEN to that! Just think of the money that they are making on hormones, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and VIAGARA! Folks it is NOT A BILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY FOR NOTHING! I’ve spent less on pharmaceuticals since finding EARTHCLINIC, and I’m trying borax tomorrow!
My daughter has flouride poisoning, mottled teeth, she’s 14 and it is a shame! I’ve been ill for the same amount of time when the spots started occuring on her teeth. I wish borax could fix her teeth! Could there possibly be a connection between my illness and her teeth????
Though Wikipedia is often helpful as a place to start researching something, it bothers me that people are so ready to accept what is there just because it is there. Wikipedia’s content is placed there by people like you and I. Some is wonderful and some is total garbage.
cannot agree more with you….most of peoples don’t really understand how it work wikipedia.
Hello! I ingested 1/8 teaspoon of borax daily in tap water for 3 months and my health has improved by at least 300%! No more body aches, my cognition is much clearer and I haven't been sick at all with the exception of a cold that lasted only 2 days! Sorry to have to disagree with you but kinda think you must work for the FDA.
+Sharon from Vancouver – Actually, the article you mention is available in pdf on the web and also can be found at: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1791931/
Otherwise, much truth to what you are writing. Good info!
Hello to all you who love this site as much as I do -Just answered my own question for Ted. Just printed out MSDS on 20 Mule Team Borax which gives its chemical formula as Na2B4O710H2O (sorry, apologize for not being able to get this computer to properly type chemical formulas) but it proceeds to give chemical names/synonyms: sodium tetraborate decahydrate, disodium tetraborate decahydrate, borax decahydrate, Borax 10 Mol
Goes on to say “this product contains greater than 99% sodium tetraborate decahydrate” and repeats the chemical formula again. I take this to mean that Borax and 20 Mule Team Borax found in the laundry section of the grocery store in 3 lb. carton for about $4 to be one and the same. If any chemist out there knows different, please speak up.
Hi…I was just reading the Borax page to a friend of mine and saw something a little startling in the testimony by Julie from New York dated 10/12/07. She writes that she used 1/8 of a tablespoon. The dosages I’ve read have said 1/8 to 1/4 of a teaspoon. I don’t know if it’s enough of a difference to matter but I thought I should bring it to your attention so you could figure it out. Thanks!
I found this website http://www.borax.com/pdfs/dist/MSDS_Borax_Decahydrate.pdf. And it states that if borax is swollowed in small amount (1teaspoon)that it is not harmful in healthy adults.
I realized this was an old post only after I tried to check your link. here is the new one on the safe daily dose of borax.
Hello. I am writing in response to the posts about borax use. Many people have asked if they should just use 20-mule-team borax. I just found this site so I haven’t used the remedies yet, but I wanted to write and give your readers a lead on a cosmetic grade borax. Actually, if they just type that into a search engine, they could find it themselves. But I found it at a place where I buy bulk organic herbs and flowers for making my own personal care products. This is the description from their site: “A natural source cosmetic grade Sodium Borate that does not contain surfactants and detergents which are commonly found in commercial Borax products. Borax acts as an emulsifier, natural preservative and buffering agent for moisturizers, scrubs and bath salts.” Now, I would imagine that this means the borax in the store is NOT the one you would want to ingest, even in small amounts, since it more than likely DOES contain other ingredients that you don’t want. So, if I were to try this remedy, I would look for ‘cosmetic grade sodium borate’. The place I found the above description was mountain rose herbs, listed under miscellaneous products. I do not work for them and have no vested interest in telling you their name. I am, however, very impressed with them in general. I’ve purchased many things from them and everything has been good quality. You can delete the company’s name if you’d like, it matters not to me. As long as your readers type in the correct words, they would find the site I’m talking about, or at least a place that sells the grade of borax that I’m referring to. Well, good luck! I’m off to email Ted to see if the borax will kill spirochetes…
If you need a large supply of borax (we used large quantities to rid a rental of cockroaches), keep in mind that farmers use it in their fields and it is available in forty pound bags and other quantities from fertilizer supply houses. Inasmuch as it is not purposed to compete with Tide or Cheer, it may not have surfactants and such in it.
Just so you know, the Borax you find in the laundry aisle is 99% pure with the other "1% possibly consisting of: sodium, potassium, calcium, chloride, bicarbonate, carbonate, sulphate, phosphate but not toxic, and no heavy metals. Pharmaceutical grade is not noticeably better or purer" (per The Boron Conspiracy). The laundry aisle stuff is perfect.
