Lemon as a skin smoother. Take the quarters of a juiced lemon and (this is going to look silly but it really works wonders) rub them anywhere you want to treat rough skin, or achieve smooth skin. Start with your elbows or back of your hands or heels. Yes it is a bit messy you will get a bit of lemon pulp on you, but dont worry. You can also rub them along your fingernails to smooth out rough cuticles. This is 100% strength alpha hydroxy acid from the lemon juice to exfoliate skin, which is not possible in any commercial cream or product. You can't get any more effective of a chemical exfoliant than that.

Take the fully used lemon quarters and put them in your sink disposal. When you run it, they will freshen up and sanitize it, as well as make your kitchen smell good. This only works with lemons and not other citrus fruits.

I add juice of a lemon to my tea tree toner bottle for extra smoothness.

Also, lemon juice makes a fantastic hair lightener, for blondes or those wanting natural highlights. Apply where desired and head outdoors (or pool, beach, patio, etc) during the daytime. Hair will be sticky til it is washed out. Witness great results.

Makes sense since lemon has long been known as a liver detoxifier.

I also use it as part of my weekly face exfoliator. I pat on a mixture of lemon and extra virgin olive oil, let it sit for about 10 minutes, then *gently*, with small circular motions, use sugar to exfoliate. Works great!

I have just bought a few booklets with loads of suggestions for the house, beauty products you can make yourself, health.... I can't post reviews because they are in French but if anybody who reads French is interested I can post the names. Once in a while I will post some of the tips which are often quite good! This time a few tips concerning the lemon: If you, like me often have dirty nails (no idea why my nails get so dirty, they are not long or anything.... ), plunge them in half a lemon. I keep used lemons for that purpose, also to use as deodorant, the best ever!

I have also started drinking a glass of lemon juice and water first thing in the morning, 1/3 lemon, 2/3 water. They have a cure where you drink more and more lemon juice every day and then back off the same way but I haven't tried that. One thing I found interesting, they suggest lemon juice for conjuntivitis, does anyone agree? I would be afraid to try! As I have those unsightly white stains on my skin I am using lemon juice to try to equalize the skin and at the same time also get rid of brown spots. So far no luck but I will keep on trying!

What about a mask of honey and lemon against the wrinkles? Three tbspoons of honey with a few drops of lemon, apply and leave for 30 minutes.

Really great books! I have learnt a lot about lemon, vinegar, clay, salt, baking soda, bier yeast, etc.
