I started the oil pulling with sunflower oil for my pulmonary fibrosis, however I would like to know if it is normal to get canker sores and a sore throat on the third day of doing this. When I finish I do rinse with salt water and baking soda can someone please reply to me about this?

I have been oil pulling for about two or three weeks with sunflower oil and my mouth has got really, really dry, my cheeks sticking to my teeth even after closing my mouth for just a couple of minutes. I am not dehydrated, I have been constantly sipping water and have 2 litres a day but my mouth is so dry. I have heard some suffer this side-effect with sunflower oil but can't find an explanation why. Anyone know? I am now using olive oil and feel much better.

Hi
I was wondering if anyone have done oil pulling and their Blood sugar level has increased.
I started oil pulling about 2 months and have notice my sugar level have increased.
So I decided to check this out so before I did my oil pulling it was 6.3 and after doing OP it went to 6.8 and this happened all the time but I only checked it 3-4 times only.
I feel good about OP and use sunflower oil and do it for 20 mins without brushing my teeth, and then I spit it out and then I swish my mouth with listerine and then brush my teeth and drink about 2 glasses of water. I feel a little dehydrated or the need to drink water after I spit it out.
Please explain - thank you for your time

Oil pulling dental problems
As I posted before I was quite sad to have to go to the dentist some time after I started oil pulling with sun flower oil. First I thought that my filling had fallen because I had eaten very hard sausages but when it happened again I was sure that it was the Oil Pulling. I had read here that some people had problems but never thought that it would happen to me. My tooth has now been so drilled that I am afraid that I am going to loose it so no more Oil Pulling for me although it was great for my gums. No problems with older fillings but the dentist says that maybe the older ones were made of some other material, this one was 18 months old and that might be the problem. Still.... I wonder why slushing a bit of oil in your mouth causes so much problem. Any solutions? Maybe another oil? The only solution the dentist had was try oil pulling again and see what happens but by now I am tired of going there and having work done on my tooth, not to mention the costs!

I have just started to use sunflower oil, (only twice, so far, for less than 5 minutes) I have had 1 side effect so far (diarrhea)...I'm also taking antibiotic, at the moment for a gum infection.
Should I carry on with the OP while taking the antibiotic and should I keep using the sunflower oil, or change to a different oil?

I have been suffering from Periodontitis with red gums, lose teeth, for a very long time. After visiting this site, quite accidently, I learnt about Oil Pulling. I started doing it with Sunflower oil back in Dec late year (2009) after I had deep cleaning etc done. Initially, I saw remarkable improvement in the conditions but now the conditions on my upper teeth and gum seems to be getting worse- at least that's what I feel. Upper teeth and gum were the most infected all these years anyway. I was told that Oil Pulling may be considered to be working if the conditions become worse. Does it mean that Oil Pulling is actually working for me? Please could someone give me your honest feedback?

My wife and me have been OP for 3 weeks with first presure unrefined sunflower oil (once a day - 1 spoon 15 cm3 for 20 minutes). Results: gum inflamation, teeth sore, spontaneous gum bleeding, palatal ache. We've changed oil 5 days ago. My wife now is using sesame oil and I've started with Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Bleeding & sores have disappeared and it seems been working OK. Had anybody suffered this effects with sunflower oil?
Thanks for this site!

My mother tried op about two weeks ago using sunflower oil. She has had health problems for many years. She experienced a side effect. Her mouth became extremly dry, I mean no saliva in her mouth. She also had problems with abnormal heart beats. She now has to take B12 shots. And is taking pills for her heart. Did anyone else have this experience.

Hi,
I have been doing oil pulling about three weeks or so using organic sunflower oil. In the last few days I have noticed my teeth changing for the worse. The bottoms of my top front 4-6 teeth look opaque, as though the white/yellow is being either drained out or the minerals pulled out. I think it is going on in the tooth not on it. It does not appear to be "staining", more like "draining the inside of my teeth. Needless to say, I am ceasing this treatment. However, I need to know if you have Heard of such an outcome? Is it reversible? What is it?
Thanks,
Deer

I started pulling organic sunflower oil a couple days ago. I read up on it and I realize there will be some side effects. My main goal is to detox my body and get any polutants out of my body. I used to smoke so I wanted to see if I could get my body cleaned up a bit more. So far I'm a little dizzy and feel like my sinuses are spitting out a lot of muck. I take it as a good sign but wanted to see if anyone could let me know how long this will last. It's kind of hard to concentrate at this point.

I started it 3 weeks ago using sunflower oil - no problems with it as i would take a swig from the bottle just before jumping into the shower. After 2 weeks I noticed nothing - so then purchased a better 'cold-pressed' brand of sunflower and have been pulling this for a week now, 1st thing in the morning for about 15-20 mins. I now notice a constant mild headache as mentioned by others but as yet no positive improvement signs especially for my arthritic finger. I will continue for say another two weeks and note the results, if any.

re: multiple sclerosis - gallbladder
I've been doing OP for 1-2 weeks off and on (1 tbsp of sunflower oil). I am getting this awfully thick white goop in the oil when I spit it out and have to spit after 5-10 mins. as it is such a bad feeling in my mouth. My oil never comes out clear. Will it eventually turn clear once the toxins are out?? My skin has turned awesome by the way but I have lots of gallbladder problems and am having surgery next month to have it out. Will these be toxins from the gallbladder or MS?? Have no mercury fillings :). My back pain has worsened but hopefully that will improve with time. If this works it is much more affordable that anything else out there!

I tried oil pulling and probably did it most days for one month. It definitely helped clear up an allergy that was causing excessive mucous in the back of my throat. However, I have to warn others that it did cause two of my newly placed fillings to come out and I had to have them replaced - so more novacaine and PAIN!!! I am sad that I cannot do this anymore because I felt that it would have helped me even more. But I thought it needed to be posted that losing your fillings is a real possibility. I believe that I followed directions, used sunflower oil and if anything didn't move the oil enough in my mouth (I lose concentration and just let it sit there!)
