I have been sick for the last 3 days getting between 2-3 hours of sleep per night because I was so congested. I can't use nasal sprays or a lot of decongestants because I am a vocalist, and those products are very bad for the voice. Last night I went online to try and find anything to ease the congestion. I found this recipe and cringed because I hate tomato juice, but I figured I would try it anyway. I have been sipping on it for about 10 minutes now and already my sinuses are starting to clear. My nose is running like a faucet which rocks because for the last 2 days I haven't even been able to blow it, and my left nostril feels almost completely clear. Thanks so much for this recipe! Now I think I'll finally get to bed!

Was so hoping the Tomato Juice Tea would help me breathe due to a bad cold but nothing had changed after several hours later. I also tried the Banking Soda/Salt mixture but that didn't help either. My niece told me about a grapefruit seed spray. Guess I'll try that next as I don't like using nose drops.

I have had congestion before and tried to rely on the over the counter remedies in the past. I have been congested for two days and all I wanted to do was sleep. That didn't get very much accomplished throughout the day. I got on line to look up home remedies and found the one for the Spicy Tomato Tea. It worked amazingly well and rather quickly. Thank you for this remedy and will continue to use it in the future as needed. Thank you for sharing.

I must really thank the original poster for this fantastic home remedy! It's true this is a far superior option than a doctor visit and an antibiotic for a sinus infection, which is both unnecessary and costly. Tomato tea only cost me around $6 and has cleared me up more in the past 24 hours than I've been in the past week or longer! It's true most people probably think this concoction tastes terrible, but I think it's very tasty and was especially good during my windy, cold morning. I recommend using V8 instead of tomato juice for some people because if you don't end up liking the taste of the "tea" you can always drink the leftover V8. Also, it has more nutritive value than straight tomato juice, I would imagine. For the record, I had been using apple cider vinegar and honey diluted in water. I originally had a small viral cold and I think the ACV-honey mix stopped my sinus infection from being horrendous. This was getting the job done and clearing up my sinuses, but it was doing so rather slowly. I think it would have worked given a longer time, though. But Tomato Tea cleared everything up right away and tastes good to boot. I'll be telling this to everyone I know. Thank you so much!

All the sudden after a minor cold I got a sinus infection and was very congested. It seemed one nasal passage would stay open, and the other clogged. As soon as the clogged passage cleared, then the other side got all congested. I was feeling miserable and decided to do an internet search for ANY home remedies that might give me relief. Stumbled across this tomato tea and read all the great reviews. I was shocked to find a snack pack size V-8 in my fridge. I had all the other ingredients. I have to say that after 30 minutes of drinking this (and it didn't taste half bad since I added 1/2 tsp poultry seasoning for flavor!), I can actually breath out of BOTH my nostrils. They are both clear and free. Still feels a little dry (probably because I just turned the heat on the other day), but I'm shocked that such a simple concoction could bring such relief! Thanks for posting this recipe!

I just made my own version of this because I didn't have tomato juice or hot sauce in the house and felt to terrible to go out and get the ingredients. So I made up Campbell's tomato soup and used horseradish and all of the other ingredients. I can breathe! Just beware, your nose may start running like a waterfall!

This tea worked terrifically! At first I thought I had no reaction (also tea didn't taste at all bad, so I thought it wasn't doing much), then about 15 minutes after finishing tomato tea, I realized I was breathing clearly again, and without sinus pressure or post nasal drip. It's been 4 hours now that I've had relief from the single cup of tomato tea.

I came down with a nasty cold a few days ago and tried everything on the shelf to relieve the symptoms. Nothing worked and last night I went on the internet and this Tomato Tea recipe came up in Goggle. I went to cub about 11:00 last night and bought the ingredients, made it up and by midnight I could breathe again. Slept all night and my nose and head feel far better this morning. The garlic smell kind of lingers in the house... but it's the best cold medicine I have had.

Although I was hoping that these remedies would cure or at the very least help with my sinus infection, it did not help me. I tried both the tomato tea and the apple cider vinegar for 5 days in a row. No luck for me. Still can't smell, taste or hear after 3 weeks.

I was very skeptical of this remedy, but no OTC medicines were doing anything for me, either. I made the tea, and added a little extra hot sauce as some others suggested. It tasted okay, not too bad. I used fresh garlic cloves, and each time I'd take a sip, the garlic smell would open my sinuses. I felt some immediate relief after drinking the tea, but later it felt like my congestion came back just as bad. Exhausted from battling this for 2 days, I went on to bed. I slept better than I had the night before, and my nose did not run all night long. When I got up this morning, one nostril was completely open. I don't feel run-down like I had been yesterday; I am not sneezing anywhere nearly as much; my nose is not as congested as it was and it is not running like a faucet. I am getting better results from blowing my nose, too. The only medicine I took today (the same as everyday) is an OTC Claritin for allergies. I will definitely keep this brew around!

When I saw the feedback for this home remedy, I decided to give it a shot. The remedy didn't do much for me. It eased my congestion temporarily but the returned to previous levels within an hour. I may just be unlucky, best of luck to you if you try it!

As I was making it, just a few sniffs of the tomato juice and the pire-piri sauce eased up my breathing, and when it was finished, my nose was clear after the third sip! It unfortunately bunged up again a short while after, but no way near as badly, and it was about an eighth as annoying as it was before. I drank the tea about 10 mins ago now, and the rest of my cold seems to be mending as well! A big thank-you to whoever discovered that recipe!

UNBELIEVABLE I tried this. I used a can of stewed tomatoes in place of tomato juice and it worked within minutes!!! I was skeptical but after two weeks of being unable to breath, I was willing to try!! I will keep this on hand and use first thing next time!

This tea works wonders. I took about four sips and could already feel my nasal passage clearing up. I think the hot sauce really plays a big part- so don't forget to add that in! Tastes yummy too!
