Recently I have been testing Apigenin, which is derived from Chamomile and many fruits and vegetables, as a sleep aid. I have always wanted to test Apigenin, but just simply never got around to it until now, but I'm glad I finally did! I also gave some to a friend to test at the same time. So far so good! I don't notice a different feeling from the apigenin, but it is definitely helping me to sleep and my friend is reporting the same effect of improved sleep and shorter time to fall asleep. I consider the effect to be as good or better than other supplements I have tested for sleep such as Valerian Extract, GABA, Melatonin, Lemon Balm, Zinc, Magnesium, Hops, Lavender Essential Oil, L-Theanine etc. I plan to continue the test a bit longer and my friend plans to continue using it indefinitely because it is working well for them. The following link discusses the sleep promoting effect of apigenin :

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10929570/

Here is a relevant quote from the link :

' Cumulatively, a large body of evidence positions apigenin as a unique molecule capable of influencing both aging and sleep. '

A word of caution regarding using Apigenin with blood thinners. Apigenin has shown to synergize with aspirin to help prevent blood clotting. So if you are using any type of blood thinner or anticlotting agent, check with your doctor to make sure it will be safe for you.

Generally, the recommended dosage is 50 mg or 100 mg about an hour before bedtime. I tried both doses and found, for me, 100 mg to be more potent than 50 mg, but 50 mg worked fine and my friend said that 50 mg worked well so they did not even consider the 100 mg dose.

Apigenin has many other health benefits that include antiaging potential, but I just wanted to highlight Apigenin as a sleep aid to add to EC's armamentarium to fight insomnia. It doesn't work for everyone, but for me it was definitely worth testing for sleep and I found it to work quite well and would be one of my first choices for a sleep aid or to recommend to others.

To get a better idea of what others think of Apigenin for sleep, take a look at some of these reviews on Amazon for Apigenin :

Here is one quote from the reviews :

' Not a super well known supplement but this stuff works very well. It supposedly helps quiet down your frontal cortex allowing you to sleep without those frantic ongoing thoughts. I gave this to my girlfriend who didn't really have the information to get a placebo effect from this and she loved it. If you are taking a break from certain legalized substances this stuff helps immensely when your mind is running wild. '

If you decide to test Apigenin, please come back and let us know how it worked for you.
