TED'S REMEDIES

11/19/2006: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand: "MRSA outbreaks in Thailand? Possibly it comes from the pollutants and birds (excellent carriers for many diseases, bugs, etc) here in my home. However, boils outbreak I think is difficult but they tend to occur during the "vegetarian festivities" here in Thailand.

The reason why is really simple, most white flour which is used in cooking during the festivities is used in the food, so people consume more.

They are very acid forming food, next to soda pop that is banned in schools in U.S. at least, but not here. Some milk actually added fluoride, so that doesn't help either. These acid forming food, especially flour, do get easily contaminated quite easily with fungus, etc. The body's immune system simply stops for about 2 hours in presence of sugar, the fact that some cola adds phosphoric acid simply make things worse.

The outbreak, therefore is more tied to the diets which lowers your immune system, such as sugar, and white flour found in bread being the worse offender of these MRSA and an outbreak as well as weight gain often occur or coincide during and after the vegetarian festivities.

I am not a pro meat or a pro vegetarian either. What I am saying is white flour is one of the worse offenders of acid forming food (next to soda pop) and the rise in use of sugar often rises to coincide with the vegetarian festivities. I once got a terrible boils in the buttocks similar to Kathryn, but the source of it i knew to be ice cream, but chocolate or cocoa strangely enough causes pimples but not boils.

So the way to stop boils at least for me was taking plenty of zinc, chromium, vanadium and baking soda to alkalize my body. Drain whatever pus that occurs in the boils to dry them.

Being especially careful to avoid both sugar AND acid forming food is the best way to remove these antibiotic resistant out of the body. You don't have to buy an elaborate lists of kinds of acid forming list, just remember to simply stay away from sugar and flour. They are easier to remember, getting too particular can confuse you. Certain supplements, you need to be wary if you take too much as they too are acid forming, whose supplements name have the words "hydrochloride", such as pyridoxine hydrochloride, a vitamin B6. A better substitute is pyridoxal 5 phosphate.

Antibiotics no longer works with me, actually it had not work for at least 10 years now, regardless of the kinds of antibiotics I use. And this is why I have remedies to get around this issue for at least 10 years now. Ted"

New Strategy Cracks Staph Bacterium's "Golden Armor," Making It Vulnerable To Treatment -- 15 Feb 2008
http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/97423.php
"Researchers have exploited a structural vulnerability in the "superbug" Staphylococcus aureus that in laboratory experiments and a mouse study opened the bacterium to treatment with an anti-cholesterol medication. This follows the 2005 discovery that a pigment provides a "golden armor" that enables staph to evade the immune system.

An article published Feb.14 in the online version of Science (Science Express) describes the study, which was conducted by researchers at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, the National Taiwan University in Taipei, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and the University of California, San Diego.

After treatment with the drug - which had progressed through preclinical testing in rats and two early clinical trials in humans as a cholesterol-fighting medication - staph bacteria were about 15 times more susceptible to killing by hydrogen peroxide and were four-fold less able to survive in human blood, according to George Y. Liu, M.D., Ph.D., one of the article's co-first authors.""

01/06/2011: Tracy from Ft Pierce, Florida replies: "Trying to diagnose an ongoing problem. It started with one of my breast and what I thought was an abscess. I was told I had a clogged milk duct and needed surgery but with no money no one would do it so it finally healed but now it is returning in the other breast and I have done some research and think maybe I have MRSA but not sure because they did blood work and they told me there wasn't any bacteria. I am desperate for a way to stop this from continueing and would love a home remedy that could help. Another problem is I have no money for expensive remedies I am very poor."

04/19/2011: Marty from Mars, PA replies: "I will tell u the only way to get rid of this is to put 2 cups of bleach in a tub of water and soak in it for 15 to 20 minutes everyday for 1 week then do it once a week for six months in really bad cases u might have to do the once a week thing for the rest of your life this really works and works fast I doubted it to tried a lot of other things and finally tried this and it does the job"

12/20/2011: Elle from Cc, Florida replies: "MRSA control for a normally healthy person requires decolonization of skin and nostrils. MRSA typically hides out in the membrane inside the nostrils so you must treat all areas of the skin and both nostrils at the same time:

The decolonization procedure often recommended includes both of the following measures:

Apply 2% mupirocin ointment generously throughout the inside of both nostrils with a cotton swab ( but don't overdo and dig too deep inside the nostril) twice daily for 10 days and
Bathe with liquid chlorhexidene soap, washing all skin surfaces daily for five days. Daily bathing or showering using an antibacterial agent such as chlorhexidine gluconate is recommended during mupirocin treatment to improve chances of eradication. Alternative treatment with tea tree oil body lotion and shampoo have been shown effective in achieving decolonization, and have the benefit of being less harsh on the skin. Use a pharmaceutical grade Tea Tree Oil Skin Wash."

01/16/2012: Elle from Cc, Fl replies: "In addition to the previously described strategy to decolonize the MRSA bacteria on skin and in nostrils, you should also at the same time take internally dietary supplements of probiotics containing a variety of strains of acidophilus like lactobacilus acidophilus and lactobacillus rhamosus. Make sure the brand you buy has a guarantee of true potency. This product will be in the refridgerated part of a health food store and you should keep it refridgerated at home. Also youghert with live probiotic cultures and buttermilk also have lactobacilus acidophilus. Eat plenty of these. Feed youghert, kefir, buttermilk to your kids to strengthen their immune system. Eliminate sugar, gluten, alcohol, beer, wine, as much as possible. Drink lots of water cause as the MRSA bacteria dies, you need water to flush out the dead bacteria. May God help us all to achieve good health and to praise Him."

WORKED TEMPORARILY

[WORKED TEMPORARILY]  12/27/2009: Joyce from Dallas, Tx, USA: "Ted Can You Hear ME? I am desperate, please Help! I caught a Staph Infection on my thigh, took Cipro and 5 months later 2 boils showed up on my labia and in my groin near the perineum. I went to my GYNO who did a pap and came out positive for MSRA in the Vagina. I don't know how I got it, but the boils continue to show up in the outter area especially the labia. I've tried turmeric, colloidal silver, garlic and these did not help. I read on Earthclinic about acai berry. After drinking the acai berry juice the boils disappeared almost immediately the next day and also Milk of Magnesia applied helped them go down, but when I stop drinking acai berry, the boils come back. I have been drinking acai for 3 months just so the boils don't come back. But, how do I permanently cure the MRSA in the vagina? Is there a topical that I can soak in a tampon and insert in vagina to kill it on the inside, such as H202 or Milk of Magnesia or Baking Soda solution or even soaking a tampon in acai berry and inserting it? I need a topical solution to go inside, is this possible without doing any harm to myself? I believe in everything you say about Alkilinity. But what to do for MRSA inside your CANAL?? Please HELP ME, because No Doctors around here can! I know you can HELP, PLEASE!!!"

12/28/2009: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "A milk of magnesia solution, mixed with 10% magnesium chloride powder, or magnesium oil should keep the pH within a good range that it doesn't get irritating. It may be used internally in the uterus area. Another one I used was 1/8 teaspoon per 2 liter bottle of water of potassium permanganate used as a wash for uterus. The normal mixture for potassium permanganate concentration is 1: 10000 concentration. 1/16 teaspoon potassium permanganate per 3 liter of water is the dose I used. Roughly speaking, 100 mg per liter is the standard concentration. In a teaspoon is equal to roughly 5000 mg. So 1/2 is 2500, 1/4 is 1240, 1/8 is 620, 1/16 is 310 mg. So the concentration is more suited for 3 liters here, but I prefer to make it slighly stronger then the 1:10000, but in general it's close enough. Most people I assume don't have a cheap digital weighing, so a standard teaspoon measure should be enough. The mixture after mixing can be used as an internal wash in uterus area. It is in general non irritating when the potassium permanganate is properly diluted here and may be used as frequently as required. As for the milk of magnesia this can be used too as a wash, but is in general drying, and hence some magnesium oil or magnesium chloride is added until the pH paper is a bit on the neutral side so it won't be too iriitating. There are other antiseptic solutions that is currently used in some studies the kill within less then a minute with MRSA when we used povidone-iodine (betadine) applied to the area infected, undiluted, of course. That's the remedy or part of the remedy that I used for genital herpes as well. The betadine may be diluted by 1/2 if it is too strong but I won't dilute it further as it is too weak. If it becomes non-irritating externally, I can used the same concentration internally too. Acai sometimes help but don't do it because sometimes they add other things to it which reduces it's effectiveness, is another possibility. Silver sulfadizine is another one they used, at 1%, but it's not easily available and I haven't tested that one yet, but i would likely used it for external application. Other things I found helpful against MRSA were benzalkonium chloride, copper sulfate solutions, caprylic acid and tea tree oil. The most interesting was the benzalkonium chloride roughly between 0.1% to 0.5% in any lotions, honey, or creams that can be applied. If of course, you can get benzalkonium chloride, you just mixed it yourself, or get some from drug stores that has the benzalkonium chloride at the concentration mentioned I found to be helpful too. The potassium permanganate solution at 1:10000 concentration can be used inside a canal, one of my friend used it to clean her uterus whenever there's an infection, itch and is used as a general antiseptic solution.

If the potassium permanganate solution at 1/16 teaspoon per 3 liters of water is too weak, i sometimes used 1/16 per 2 liter of water. Under both mixtures I don't find skin irritation for general use.

A preferred benzalkonium concentration I like is about 0.15% concentration, in case you want to be more exacting.

Again the concentration maybe increase/decrease depending on effectiveness versus the irritation to the skin it caused. Less irritating we may increase greater concentration for greater effectiveness.

Tea tree oil maybe irritating to some, not irritating to another, but if it is irritating we may dilute the mixture with appropriate oils such as coconut oil or olive oil.

I haven't quite experimented with a mixture of xylitol, or other polyol sugars mixed with the milk of magnesia, but I do know they prevent the bacteria from attaching itself to healthy skin, thus reducing the infection."

[YEA]  07/21/2008: Jennifer from east haven, CT: "I gave birth to my son in 1/2007 and contracted mrsa in my blood and almost died. My son also contracted mrsa a few days after his birth on his skin. My son and I were in the hospital for a month after his birth. I ended up getting 5 additional surgeries to the c-section. I was on a wound vac and vanco and batriband, minocyclin, batrim...I tried so many drugs and never felt right and the mrsa would always come back, I was on antibiotics and IV's for 7 months and nothing worked. I was getting so frustrated!

Then, I started looking at natural cures and tried many. Finally, I found something that worked. Acai berry juice, Aloe vera juice and Udo's Choice probiotics. Take 2 oz Acai berry juice with 1oz aloe juice in the am and then again in the pm. I started out taking 12 probiotics a day 3 in the am, pm, after dinner and before bed. The first few days my body flushed out - try to start doing this on a weekend or when you are not to busy bc you will be in the bathroom for at least a day. Do this regimen for 2 weeks, then lower the juices to 1 oz of each in the am and pm and slowly reduce the probiotics (12 to 11...). If the mrsa comes back add an extra probiotic (11 to 12). After everything I tried this was the only thing that worked for me! It has been a year that I have been doing this regimen, I still drink the juices and I am taking 6 probiotics a day.
Please let me know if this works for you, if you have any questions you can e-mail me at LJ6981@hotmail.com."

[YEA]  02/08/2009: Pat from Atlanta, GA replies: "Jennifer, this worked perfectly for me. It has been a month since I started this regimen and the MRSA has not returned. I altered you regimen a little, I only take 4 probiotics a day and I do not drink the aloe vera juice. I do indeed drink the Acai Berry and it has even helped me to lose weight. I got both the Acai Berry and Probiotics at Whole Foods. This regimen has helped my Staph and helping me to control my weight. I recommend everyone to try this regimen, its easier to do and no side affects to your body. Great Post Jennifer, thank you."
06/26/2011: Worried from Columbus, Usa replies: "Since you started this regime, how long have you been outbreak/infection free? Have you been tested to see if the MRSA is gone? I'm fairly new to this and am overwhelmed with being told 'there is nothing we can do'. Anything you have to offer as advice would be wonderful!"

i searched the internet for all sorts of treatments, rather than take anti biotics which turn my skin yellow. i stumbled upon a site called activated oxygen i phoned them up here in the uk, and bought a pot of activated oxygen gel. i can only describe this as a miracle, i am currently on my third pot of activated oxygen, my abcess which had 5 holes, is about 97% cleared up to date, and this is only applying it topically. I am not sure if you can post links but google it and you have all the info there, it's amazing stuff."

[YEA]  05/27/2011: Pauline from Vancouver, B.c. Canada: "mid March, inflamed red pimple on right wrist, misdiagnosed. one week later, infected ulcer, purple ridges, painful red swelling surrounding tissue. two months later seven ulcers on hand and forearm, two more on chest, one inflamed pimple left cheek.

May 24, Emergency room Dr. diagnoses Staph infection, prescribes new meds, Doxycycline and Bactroban. Next morning after having applied liberal amounts of Bactroban I notice three new inflamed pimples right forearm. Deep breath, stay calm, do not panic, do not scream. I'm scared.

I had previously tried tea tree oil on infection, broke out in hives and my arm became more inflamed. If I were not so worried the light bulb would have gone off sooner. I use holista tea tree conditioner once a week on my scalp, no inflamation and wonderfully soothing. I mix up five drops tea tree oil in one teaspoon water and add this to one tablespoon tea tree conditioner. I wash sores gently with Apple Cider Vinegar and then apply liberal amounts of conditioner. The inflamation is almost gone and no new sores. Cross my fingers and big prayer. thank you for the info on diluting tea tree oil. May 27, staph infection almost gone. Doctor says purple scars will take several month to fade. I am so thankful they are not on my face.

Thank you for this wonderful site, kept me from going off deep end."

It was not until I found this great site that I tried the turmeric and organic apple cider vinegar to balance my ph. And it worked!!! I took the turmeric and the ACV for about 3 months though, I was decided to get rid of it. About two months ago (I did not have a sign of it, not even a pimple) I got a small boil, very small though, on my knee, but it went away rather quickly. This stuff works!"

BAKING SODA

[YEA]  03/11/2009: Gina from Pines, fl, us: "Hi my name is Gina,

4 months ago my brother has lesions appear all over his arms and on his under arms. The lesions were painful and in about a week the lesions filled with pus. The pay was unbearable, then my mom got them under her arms. They both went to the doctor and had them popped, lanced and drained and were diagnosed with MRSA which mimicks a staph infection but is much worse as it is a disease. We were devastated. I never got them until 2 months ago I must of shaved dry and 4 bumps appeared under my arms. Point is it doesn't matter how clean you are anyone can get it. Some remedies that have helped me are ones that I've experimented with. I will no longer be a victim of this infection!

Baking soda is 99.9 effective guaranteed once u start to suspect the head of the boil. Mix a teaspoon of water with baking soda till it is like a paste and apply it all around the infected area! Leave it for 30 min. Then gently clean it with a clean light colored (white) towel.

Wear only white cotton shirts while the wound is draining; as dark colors may bleed and cause a spread. This also applies to other infected areas. For example, if there is a boil on your back or on your buttocks wear light clothing, shorts, t-shirt etc. As far as pain relief to be honest you need to make best friends with naproxen or Ibuprofen. Buy a bath puff sponge and when taking a warm shower wash the infected area and massage it with the scrubber. Do not stick needles in it as you can cause blood clots, trust me it happend twice to me."

The next morning, being in a hurry, I just squirted the muprocin on my finger and dipped it in the baking soda, then applied it to the sore, it stings but it's drying them up really fast. I'll continue this (and washing the area, and nose and ears in Hibicleanse) for a few more days to make sure it's eradicated. I swear I can feel the germs runnning for cover into my ears, so I am drowning them/ears in hydrogen peroxide between my baths."

I have tried the baking soda and vinegar which help expedite the healing of the boil but didn't prevent me from getting them. I notice that you mention the use of honey. Is this regular honey from the grocery store or is this raw honey from the healthfood store?"
11/30/2008: Samantha from Wendell, North Carolina replies: "Manuka Honey is what I use on me and my kids. Its at least $36 a small 12oz jar at Whole Foods but it works wonders on so many things. Hope that helps"
01/18/2012: Viresident from Vancouver Island, Canada replies: "I have been with this bacteria for years, it was misdiagnosed until about 2 months ago. I have been getting great results with baking soda and salt paste. I pour it on, leave it on for hours, and just splash it off (I try to never touch the area as it always spreads)

Everything else, including numerous antibiotic prescriptions both topical and oral haven't helped. In my husband's words "they just made it look horrible. " It really does just get worse. This has been a nightmare and a learning curve. I'm highly allergic to penicillin now after a life threatening reaction resulting in swollen throat and tongue after several consecutive cycles at double strength cloxacillin.

I've made lifestyle changes such as eating alkaline/vegan and it seems to be helping (for one month so far). My doctor keeps telling me to do things, such as stop treating the area once the boils are gone, but it always comes back, so I am going to continue this process until it is gone from all the layers, as it seems to be down very deep.

Unfortunately, it's mostly on my face and has left a few purple marks, which they say will fade over time.

I tried Manuka Active honey as a topical and it made things worse. I thought perhaps I'll try it again over night, and it not only made the area red and inflamed, it cause it to spread quickly.

I have also been using Milk of Magnesia as a topical for a couple weeks, and it works WONDERS on the boils, dries them right up. I use Phillips brand with peppermint oil. If you apply a thin layer it will soak right in. A thicker layer leaves a white film. I haven't been washing it off unless I have to go out, because again if I touch it, it's very sensitive and starts to spread.

Interally I take turmeric 1tsp 3x / day, tissue salts (12 combination), baking soda water with lemon or lime (to alkalize), vitamins and minerals, milk thistle, acidophilus, and lately acai (too expensive to get the pure stuff and doesn't seem to be doing too much), but definitely lots of GSE both in liquid and capsules (too drying for topically right on my skin even diulted).

I'm on the home stretch :) Can't wait to be reposting to say I'm completely cured! Although that might be some time as it's been with me for 3 years and is very deep in the skin."

WARNINGS!

[YEA]  01/25/2007: Joshua from Waverly, OH: "I have been having outbreaks for about 3 years now. I've found that when the sores are at their worst a HOT(as tolerable!)bath in a tub full of clear water and 1/2 cup of Clorox for 20-30 minutes speeds up the healing process. Afterwards invest in Lysol-and lots of it! Wash and change bedding daily and spray everything you touch with Lysol. In about 10 days you can rid all surfaces in your' home, negating the spread of MRSA infection!"

[WARNING!]  09/19/2008: Dr. Health from Vancouver, Washington replies: "Bleach? That's the craziest advice I have ever heard. I hope nobody takes this advice!"
10/21/2008: JLynn from Arlington, Tx replies: "I don't know about bathing with bleach but I do know that whenever I have had problems with re occurring boils adding bleach to my laundry, all delicates, it seems to help with the boils not coming back."
[YEA]  10/28/2008: Jamila from Springfield, Va replies: "My daughter was diagnosed with recurring MRSA and one of the remedies both her doctor and her nurse recommended was adding bleach to her baths twice a week. They did not say anything about treating the boils, but it is supposed to prevent future colonization of MRSA when used in conjunction with an antibiotic regimine, daily disinfection of household surfaces, and daily laundering of bed clothes with bleach. I have read that bleach baths are also a great treatment for eczema, which my daughter also has."
[YEA]  12/16/2008: Carri from Greenville, SC replies: "Bathing in bleach CLOROX brand ONLY!!! And ONLY the plain kind, not gel or anything scented, is a very good flush for your body. To "Dr Health" Are you a naturalist or at all familiar with holistic and natural remedies? This is a commonly used remedy to pull heavy metals from your body (among MANY other things). Mix one half cup plain Clorox brand bleach to your bath tub and fill to the level of your belly button when sitting. You can soak in the tub for 50-60 minutes for heavy metal reduction. If you think about all the horrible chemicals that are in your water anyway a little bleach is not going to hurt you, and actually probably nullifies some of the harmful chemicals. Don't knock it til you try it! I've done it for years to help with heavy metals (I fell so much better, by the way) and had no clue about the connection to healing boils, but am happy to know of it."
[WARNING!]  01/12/2009: Mark from Charlottesville, VA replies: "I would be very careful about using bleach on skin.

Bleach damages tissue and can make it more susceptible to disease. For example, washing syringes used by IV drug users as was suggested for many years with bleach makes one more susceptible to HIV (plain soapy water works better).

It is well known that bleach can damage skin (see MSDS). In the event of "serios skin contact" with bleach it is recommended that you wash with a disinfectant soap and use an anti-bacterial cream. In other words, exposure to bleach can make you more prone to infection. 10:1 dilutions or 100:1 might be better tolerated.

By the same token, Nonoxynol-9 was shown to kill HIV in-vitro but in-vivo it was found it could do more harm than good due to tissue damage - after years of use by consumers.

Alcohols and hydrogen peroxide may cause tissue damage in some cases, particularly on mucous membranes. Alcohol gels at least contain things to make them easier on the skin and appear to be ok to use.

Sterile Manuka honey looks worth checking out. Wounds reportedly heal in about half the time compared to most modern treatments and it has been shown to be helpful on MRSA. Some pre-prepared manuka honey dressings have been FDA approved (but are expensive). But beware of diluted preparations. Pure sterile manuka honey can be imported in 500g jars and 25g-80g tubes of sterile manuka honey can be purchased in the US. Not all varieties of Manuka honey contain the same amount (or any significant amount) of the active ingredient that makes manuka honey more effective - it depends on the variety of manuka the bees feed on. Even plain honey has a very long history (8000 years) of being used as a wound dressing, though largely forgotten today with the aggressive marketing of commercial products. However, non-sterile honey may contain Closridia or other disease causing factors.
http://tahilla.typepad.com/mrsawatch/wounds_honey/index.html

Tea tree oil is known to kill MRSA but if it is diluted too much it not only doesn't kill but breeds tea tree and antibiotic resistant strains quickly.
Dilute Benzalkonium chloride also breeds resistant strains. I have heard triclosan has the same problem but the research on that appears a little questionable.

http://tahilla.typepad.com/mrsawatch/domestic_infection/index.html

Oregano oil appears to be a potent MRSA killer.

From personal experience, a water based gel lubricant (KY jelly/Surgilube/etc) is very helpful for fungal infections (better than more expensive anti-fungals). It helps moisturize (without promoting growth due to moisture) and heal the skin and the preservative used, chlorhexidine gluconate, is effective in very low concentrations against candida. However, the concentration is much lower than in chlorhexidine gluconate surgical scrubs such as hibiclens. Thus the suggestion to use tea tree oil in KY seems promising, though the tea tree oil concentration should be at least 5% (but not too much higher). Adding neem oil and oregano oil would be worth investigating. But the combinations haven't been clinically tested.

Strong disinfectants may do more harm than good due to tissue damage. Diluted disinfectants breed resistance. Whatever doesn't kill the bugs makes them stronger.

When cleaning surfaces, reuse of a wipe on more than one surface, and use of non-disposable mops, rags, etc. can spread MRSA.

I don't have MRSA (I hope) but my housemate is suffering from a post-operative MRSA infection."

It's no different than the chlorine in a pool."
09/15/2011: Freebird from South Bend, In replies: "The Mayo Clinic and the Center for Disease Control recommend this now, along with Manuka honey. 1/2 c bleach and two big handfuls of baking soda. Don't over do it. Every three days or so."

BORAX

12/05/2008: Rich from Boca Raton, Fl: "MRSA is apparently staph infected amoebas: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2006/02/060228085706.htm

Ted: In one topic, you said borax kills amoebas. Other natural insecticides are Selenium and Sulfer and Organo-phosphates and neo-nicotines(B vitamins?)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insecticide

Seems like you use a lot of this stuff for many ailments. Perhaps Borax should be required in a staph treatment?

ps. How long does it take to kill an ameoba in a test tube with borax... and what concentrations?"

Replies
12/14/2008: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Actually amoebas can manifest itself as a brain eating amoebas such as Naegleria fowleri, which enters through the nose and goes directly to the brain eating up the brain thus killing you. It's also amazingly resistant to heat, and can survive at 122 degrees Fahrenheit, low iodine and chlorine levels can't kill them easily, and many are now resistant against may forms of antibiotics. What is most interesting is some amoebas carry with them MRSA, it makes for a symbiotic existence. This also seems to occur even with viral cancer and fungus, as well as other symbiotic relationship that science barely studied. Anyway, there is some evidence that amoebas are most effectively killed with ozone better then chlorine.

"The ozone treatment is automatic and is supplemented with sodium hypochlorite and hydrochloric acid to a residual chlorine level of 0.5 ppm. Research has indicated that ozone treatment is more effective against amoebae than chlorine treatment. "

source: http://www.ab.ust.hk/hseo/sftywise/199310/page5.htm

As to what is best to kill amoebas and MRSA, the answer is likely to be a mixture of iodine, sodium chlorite mixture, with milk of magnesia solution. The milk of magnesia is a magensium hydroxide that kills MRSA directly, the iodine and sodium chlorite solution mixture is mostly geared to killing the amoebas. An alternative remedy is seen with the mixture of milk of magnesia (8% solution of magnesium hydroxide) in 1: 1 with hydrogen peroxide 3% solution, where peroxide is used to kill the amoebas, and the milk of magnesia to kill off the amoebas. The hydogen peroxide is not compatible with sodium chlorite solution, but it's is compatible with an iodine solution, such as a 3% or 5% potassium iodide solution or perhaps sodium iodide.

As to the borax idea, I don't know about that one. That I haven't experimented. Although dehydration is essential to killing them and that's why milk of magnesia and hydrogen peroxide is used. They have a dehydration effect. A sea salt or salt is too painful.

What worries me is what happens if these amoebas enter our nose from infected swimming pools. Currently there is no cure for this and doctors are likely to try antibiotics which haven't quite worked out at all that I am aware of.

Ted"
10/22/2010: Berdene from Olive Branch, Ms replies: "I highly recommend food grade hydrogen peroxide as a cure for MRSA. Early this year I 2 different cases of confirmed Staphylococcus and 2 surgeries to remove cysts that were as big as golf balls, for which antibiotics were not touching. The Dr told me that I would just have to live with it as he told me MRSA is everywhere. The cysts were extremely painful so I was not willing to just live it them! When the 3rd one came on I reached for my food grade (35%) hydrogen peroxide and took a large dose(1/4 teas in 8 oz of pure water)
Within 2 hours I could feel the tingling stop and the burning of the new growing cyst stop. The next day I took another dose and I was cured. I highly recommend peroxide for bladder infections and also a couple of years ago I had confirmed skin cancer on my nose and began taking doses of peroxide and it killed that also.

You must be very, very careful when taking this product - follow instructions, as it has burning properties to it. One more note - after I had surgery for the removal of the MRSA cysts I packed the site with Epsom salt and it pulled the infection to the top of the skin and drained the sight within days. I used a pantie liner pad over the site and the salt drew out so much pus it was soaked the pad a half an hour, this went on for 3 days!"

CLINDOXYL HELPS CLEAR UP STAPH PROBLEM

[YEA]  11/15/2006: Boris : "My staph problem is clearing up with a topical application of clindoxyl, however I did want to comment on Ted's suggestion of zinc and manganese supplements for oily skin. Oily skin can help create conditions for stubborn bacterial infections for the bacteria feeds off all that excess sebum. Prior to Ted's suggestion I had been supplementing with 75mg of zinc gluconate with 10mg of tin oxide for about a month with perhaps the result of clearing up seborrheic dermatitis around my nose, eyebrows and ear folds. I still had very oily skin on my face and scalp though. As was recommended, I've been supplementing with a cup of soy milk along with 50mg of chelated manganese for six days now and my face is noticeably less oily. I've also been taking in 150mg of flax lignan, which I've read also helps. At any rate, something here is working. I'll continue to supplement with the manganese for another week, as per Ted's suggestion. Perhaps this info could be cross-posted to the acne page as well. Thank you!"

EC: Thanks for the feedback, Boris. We will put it on the acne page, as you suggested.

Replies
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Yes, my common treatment for oily skin - zinc and manganese. Too much of it will cause dry skin, which means it is time to discontinue. For acne, some chromium supplements will complement the treatment as well as zinc. People who take too much sugar do have acne, which is why sometimes chromium is helpful."

COLLOIDAL SILVER

YEA

[YEA]  02/10/2009: Chrystal from Apple Valley, California: "MRSA Experience--- We beat it!

On May 14th 2005, my 26 Yr old son noticed his thumb was getting very sore. No wound was visible. By Wed. the 19th, his whole hand was swolen and pulsing with pain. He went to a doctor and the doctor threw him into the hospital and they opperated that night. It was MRSA, and it was spreading from his thumb, through his palm towards his wrist. They took out a huge chunk of his thumb... about 1" square and 1/4th " deep, and ran tubes down towards his palm to try and squeeze out the rest.

I found out about it Saturday morning (the 21st) and called the hospital. They hadn't gotten all of it. He said they either had to take off his hand or he would die.

I told him to get out of there and get to my place as soon as he could. He took off with security after him!

I soaked his hand in 10 ppm Coloiodal Silver for an hour and we cleaned it out as best we could, then spread it with Bee Propolis and wrapped it up. I had him take 2oz of Coloidal Silver at 5ppm every hour and continued the daily soaking and 2oz every day. For good measure, I added 1 tsp food grade H2O2 per quart of water and had him take 4 oz of that every two hours and 2000 mg of good Vitamine C 5 times a day.

(Lets face it.. MRSA scared the s___ out of me. I was going to throw everything I could at it! I believed in the silver, but I was not going to take chances with my son's life!)

That first night he slept without pain for the first time in a week.

We continued the same treatment daily. By the 23rd, the hand swelling was gone and the thumb was already starting to fill in. It was still sore to the touch but no throbbing.

On Friday May 27th, the hole was less than half its width and very shallow. No swelling at all. A week later, he went to another doctor and the doctor refused to believe he had had MRSA or that he had the opperation any later than the 4th of May. He wrote it so in his report.

One week later he went back to the original doctor from the hospital, (the one that ordered his operation) and shocked him good. All that was left of the surgery was a small 1/4" scratch with a small band-aid on it.

Don't think he really believes what we did to cure it! My son was back to work fixing cars on June 10th. Absolutely no sign of the infection then or since!

NO bad infection can stand up to this kind of attack. Medicines may fail... but this won't!

God Bless,
Chrystal"

10/23/2009: Desert Mom from Desert, Az replies: "Okay. I truly believe in h2o2 35% food grade. So, what's the best way to treat mrsa with nose ulceration?

Originally, my twin sons and I contracted this when hospitalized at Phoenix's Good Samaritan/Banner Health and Phoenix Children's Neonatal Hospital. I was told, after about a week hospitalized, that: "How do you feel that you entered the hospital completely healthy except with risk of carrying multiples to now have staph?". Clueless, I said I felt okay at the time, I was just exhausted-who wouldn't be-3 months bed rest was a pain!

Well, all the rounds of antibiotics I was aware I had was one thing, to learn my babies had rounds as well (I found out by re-reading discharge papers) shocking. Yet, a year with challenging health issues with them as well as keeping up with our 8 year old...well, left me overwrought-flat out TKO'D (totally knocked out). To this day, from at least my nostril, I have ulceration. I had no I idea that it's eating at my brain-maybe explaining my brain fogs-I get seizures but don't use meds bc they seem to increase for some reason.

I noticed one son doesn't like crusty nose and picks @ his nose and I spray it with my nasal wash (2 1/2oz good water, 2T mineral salts 1 1/2 oz h2o2 food grade). I've stopped redness & bleeding in mine. Though he doesn't like me to, I squirt his as well as our ears.

What should I do?

Desert Mom"

10/23/2009: Eve K from Houston, Tx replies: "Hi,

I also have trouble with nasal ulcerations, though it has not been diagnosed as staph or anything else.... When these pop up (about twice per year), they are very stubborn.

What works for me----in the shower, I wash my face (and hence nose) with pure local raw honey (if you mix with water it is kind of lather-y and easy to wash off); twice a day, once after shower and once before bed, I use a saline rinse. A Neti pot is good but for convenience I use the one that comes prepackaged (the same brand makes a saline wound wash); lastly, take a cotton swab covered in antibiotic gel and swab it liberally in the nasal passage---coat the area really well.

The scabby nose clears up within a few days."

[YEA]  07/12/2007: Amy from Austin, Texas: "When my gynecologist told me that my lesion was possibly MRSA since I had only a month before had a boil on my face, she said that after taking Bactrim for 10 days I should start putting Neosporin in my nose, if the MRSA infection was confirmed. I wanted to do something sooner, while still taking the Bactrim, and so researched and got some colloidal silver and put either drops or swabs of it in my nose 1-2 times a day for a week, as well as applying it to the wound with a swab. I read that it would not interfere with the antibiotics. The lesion had been lanced, and when I had my follow-up, I was healing very well. I have had no more boils yet. I can't say for sure that the colloidal silver did the trick, but from what I've read, it can be very effective with short term use (10 days or so) and if I get another boil, I will apply some directly right away."

CORNSTARCH BODY POWDERS

WARNING!

[WARNING!]  07/31/2009: Helen from Clearfield, PA: "People who are susceptable to MRSA and boils shouldn't use cornstarch-based body powders. Why: because cornstarch is a perfect growth medium for staph, and it is my contention that the use of cornstarch-based body powders has been a contributing factor is the rise of staph infections in general. But the more staph infections there are, the more likely one is to eventually get a resistant form, and who wants to play those odds?

p.s. Staph can cause boils without neccessarily being antibiotic resistant."

[YEA]  08/12/2011: Mommy V from Washington, D.C., Usa: "My family (self, hubby, children, father, mother-in-law, sister, niece, nephew... ) suffered from recurrent MRSA skin infections for several years. At the worst of it, my husband had multiple boils the size of baseballs over his legs and backside. My sister and her 2-yr-old daughter went through half a dozen types of antibiotics over the course of a year, and even after resistance tests the MRSA would recur a month or two later. We saw infectious disease doctors, pediatriciants, naturopaths... We disinfected everything over and over. We eliminated sugar, white flour, preservatives, dyes, and MSG from our diets. (We lost a lot of weight and my allergies cleared up, but the MRSA kept returning.)

One night, after hours of prayer, I stumbled across a page by Bob Anderson (garlic farmer) on the MRSA Forum USA. He explained that while the allicin in garlic is potent enough to destroy MRSA on contact, it does not survive in stomach acid and therefore doesn't reach the skin when injested. He recommended bathing in garlic water. Sure enough, within a week my husband and both of my boys had clear skin!! In the 4 months since we tried garlic baths, my husband has had only one recurrence (which happened after we stayed a week in the home of someone else who had MRSA) and one garlic bath cleared up the boil overnight. WOW! What a relief! Praise God, whose "medicine" is so brilliantly complex (and free from side-effects).

How-To:

1. Crush 4-6 cloves of non-irradiated garlic (look for white/green sprout in middle of each clove)

2. Let stand 30-90 minutes to allow allicin to develop.

3. Add garlic to warm bath. Submerge as much of the body as possible.

4. Soak for an hour or two, two or three times a week."

Replies
08/24/2011: Mommy V from Washington, D.C., Usa replies: "Important note: It is likely that the first garlic bath will bring existing boils to a head. (This may make boils/rashes appear worse after the first bath. ) But, keep going... things should improve rapidly with subsequent baths.

Also, trust your intuition. If you sense skin irritation, take a couple days off. If you are bathing children, use less garlic and shorter baths."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  03/14/2011: Ana from North Lauderdale, Florida: "Garlic sliced in half with some criss cross cuts or pounded on once or twice placed directly on the boil worked for me. I have colonized MRSA and my less-than-willing-to-try-anything-other-than-lancing-and-antibiotics husband has it as well.

I have been suffering with back to back boils for 3 months. I tried ACV; drinking it and placing it on the boil. It did help burst it but it did not help keep them at bay. Tumeric applied to and taken helped to alleviate the pain and swelling somewhat, but it did not burst them or stop them. Campho-Phenique did not work for me, and Ichthamol Ointment helped to drain them after they burst but I cannot say it actually helped burst them.

I put garlic directly on my latest boil at the first sign of it and it made it go away before it got very painful. For the first 10-15 mins the burning was intense. it did subside and I actually felt a kind of "let down" in the boil. I left it on for an hour. The pain was greatly diminished. I did it again the next day and there wasn't any real burning or anything. I left it on overnight. The third day, I could no longer see or even feel where the boil was.

I started taking one clove of crushed garlic with water today and plan to take it every day to see if this helps to prevent the boils as I see it works to stop it once one starts.

I have been taking echinacea in white tea with unprocessed honey throughout.

I cannot stress enough how careful you have to be about your hygiene when you're having an outbreak . Wash your sheets in hot water, change them often, do not use your towel more than once, bathe at least twice a day, wear gloves when handling the boil and wash your hands often.

I used silver bandages on another boil that had drained and it healed much quicker than others I had before. These bandages don't stick to the skin as harshly as others do so I had less irratation to the surrounding skin as well. I found them online.

Thanks to all that contribute to this site."

Last week, I started to get another boil- it was spreading and I started a fever of 100.5...I had nothing to lose and so I crushed 2-3 garlic cloves in my garlic press, let it sit for 14 minutes, mixed the garlic then THOROUGHLY with honey and gulped it down in one swallow. Make sure NOT to do this on an empty stomach!!!! Within 4 hours, my fever broke and the redness started to retreat. After all the other things I tried and all the frustrating months, amazing that the raw garlic took care of it! I proceeded to do the garlic 2x a day for 10 days and and am now going to take it 1x a day for the next two weeks to make sure it has killed all the MRSA staph. I am also drinking Phenomenal Water. I'm going to do the crushed garlic both internal and external with manuka honey starting today. Hopefully I'll repost and let you know I'm cured! Its been 3 years (I was misdiagnosed with hormonal acne until 4 months ago when I got extremely ill from the mrsa)."
02/07/2012: Max from Adelaide, Sa replies: "Recent study found hot drinks ( tea and coffee) protect against MRSA. I don't think it cures it once you have already got it but regular tea and coffee drinkers are less likely to catch MRSA. Note, this study only tested MRSA in the nasal cavity they are yet to discover whether the effects are systemic.
