As our awareness and understanding of the potential health risks associated with fluoride exposure increases, exploring natural remedies for fluoride poisoning becomes crucial. Before we delve into these remedies, let's first understand what fluoride poisoning is, its symptoms, and how it may manifest itself, especially in skin conditions resulting from fluoride overload.

What is Fluoride Poisoning?

Fluoride poisoning, or fluorosis, is a condition that develops due to prolonged exposure to or ingestion of excessive amounts of fluoride. This can come from various sources, including certain types of processed foods, fluoridated water, and dental products.

Understanding Fluoride: Natural Occurrence, Benefits, and Risks

Fluoride is a naturally occurring compound found in varying amounts in freshwater sources, ranging from 0.01-0.3 parts per million. In some regions, this concentration may fall anywhere between 0.5mg/L to 50mg/L. Despite its natural occurrence, fluoride is also added to public water systems as a measure to counter tooth decay. This addition does not impact the water's taste, appearance, or smell.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends a fluoride concentration in water of 0.5 to 1.0mg/L. However, the practice of fluoridating water is a matter of controversy. While fluoride, within certain limits, plays a beneficial role in preventing tooth decay, it can also be toxic to the body. The estimated lethal dose of fluoride toxicity is around 5 to 10 grams, but even lower doses (0.2mg/kg body weight) can cause gastrointestinal discomfort when ingested.

Despite the beneficial relationship between fluoride and dental health, research suggests that fluoride exposure might be associated with various health concerns. Prolonged exposure to fluoride, especially in children and adults, can lead to tooth discoloration. Additionally, fluoride buildup in the body over time has been linked to conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and joint pain.

More alarmingly, fluoride has been connected to a range of health conditions, including eczema and celiac disease. There are also concerns about its potential effects on thyroid function, given the role of fluoride in the production and regulation of thyroid hormones.

Given these potential risks, monitoring and managing the fluoride levels in our water and food supply becomes essential, ensuring we reap its benefits for dental health while mitigating its possible adverse effects.

Symptoms of Fluoride Poisoning

Fluoride poisoning can manifest in several ways, depending on the severity and duration of exposure. Here is a list of symptoms to watch out for:

  • Dental Fluorosis: This is often the first sign of fluoride poisoning and appears as white streaks or spots on the teeth.
  • Skeletal Fluorosis: Chronic exposure to fluoride can result in bone and joint pain, limited joint movement, and even severe skeletal deformities.
  • Neurological Problems: High fluoride levels can harm the nervous system, leading to learning difficulties, memory issues, and lack of concentration.
  • Skin Conditions: Overexposure to fluoride may lead to skin conditions such as acne, eczema, and early skin aging. In some cases, fluoride can cause hives, rash, or atopic dermatitis.
  • Digestive Issues: Nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, and excessive thirst are common symptoms of fluoride poisoning.
  • Other Symptoms: Symptoms may also include muscle weakness, fatigue, irregular heartbeat, and in severe cases, heart failure or even coma.

Limitations of Common Water Filters: The Fluoride Factor

While filtering tap water is an excellent measure to reduce exposure to numerous contaminants, it's important to note that not all water filters are created equal. This is particularly true when it comes to fluoride removal.

Brita water filters are one of the most popular on the market, widely recognized for their efficiency in removing several contaminants like chlorine, copper, cadmium, and mercury. However, one of the major limitations of these filters lies in their inability to filter out fluoride effectively.

Brita filters, like many other activated carbon filters, work through a process called adsorption. Here, contaminants in the water are attracted to and stick to the surface of the activated carbon. Unfortunately, this process is ineffective at removing fluoride, as the carbon does not readily adsorb the fluoride ions.

While many water filters can significantly improve the taste and odor of tap water by removing chlorine and other chemicals, they are not designed to tackle fluoride. According to Brita's own website, their filters "do not remove fluoride".

If removing fluoride is a concern, specialized water filters are available, which can effectively reduce fluoride levels. These include:

Reverse Osmosis Filters

These filters force water under pressure through a semi-permeable membrane, which removes a significant portion of fluoride along with other contaminants.

Deionizers

Deionizers use ion-exchange resins to remove mineral ions like fluoride from water.

Activated Alumina Filters

Activated alumina is a form of aluminum oxide with a high surface-area-to-weight ratio and many tunnel-like pores. When water passes over it, fluoride ions are adsorbed to the surface of the alumina.

Remember, while selecting a water filter, it's important to consider what specific contaminants you wish to remove and choose a product designed to tackle those specifically. For fluoride, this may mean bypassing popular brands like Brita in favor of a specialized fluoride-removing filter.

Natural Remedies for Fluoride Poisoning

Once a case of fluoride poisoning is identified, it can be treated naturally through various means. Let's start with the Borax protocol.

Borax Protocol

Borax, also known as sodium borate, has shown potential in mitigating fluoride poisoning. It aids in removing fluoride from the body by interacting with it to form a compound that the body can easily excrete. The usual dose is 1/4 teaspoon for men or 1/8 teaspoon for women of Borax dissolved in one liter of water, consumed over a day. 5 days on and 2 days off.

Tamarind

Tamarind has been widely used in Ayurvedic medicine and has been found effective in increasing fluoride excretion. Tamarind can be consumed as a tea or included in your regular diet to reap its detoxifying benefits.

Selenium

Selenium, a trace mineral, can counteract the effects of fluoride toxicity. Foods rich in selenium such as Brazil nuts, yellowfin tuna, halibut, sardines, and chicken can be included in your diet.

Vitamin C

This antioxidant is excellent in combating the harmful effects of fluoride. It aids in flushing out toxins and mitigates the oxidative stress caused by fluoride.

Magnesium

Magnesium binds with fluoride to create a nearly insoluble mineral by-product, making it harder for the body to absorb fluoride. Foods high in magnesium include leafy green vegetables, nuts, and seeds.

Calcium

Like magnesium, calcium can also bind with fluoride, reducing absorption and promoting excretion. Incorporate more calcium-rich foods like dairy products, tofu, and leafy greens into your diet.

Liver Detox

Certain foods, like milk thistle, dandelion root, and turmeric, support liver function and help remove toxins like fluoride from the body.

Iodine

Iodine helps to increase the production of thyroid hormones, which in turn helps to reduce the effects of fluoride on the thyroid.

Curcumin

Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, has been found to protect against fluoride-induced neurotoxicity.

Remember, while these natural remedies can help, it is critical to avoid further fluoride exposure by filtering your water, using fluoride-free dental products, and eating a clean diet devoid of processed foods.

Below you can find a number of user submitted remedies to remove fluoride from your body. Our readers' most popular remedy is borax, and some other treatments include apple cider vinegar, sea salt, tamarind, and wheat grass. Can I use activated charcoal to rid my body including the bones of the build up of fluoride? Does activated
charcoal cleanse the body or treat the body for fluoride poisoning? Will a water filter with activated charcoal purify the water of fluoride? Right now I feel fine by it has done damage to my teeth and I can only imagine what shape my skeletal system is in. Please, if you can answer my questions or point me to someone who may be able to help me. I would be very appreciative of that.

Respectfully,
Michael

I could be wrong but I don't think Activated Charcoal (AC) will help you with that.

From what I understand AC works by sticking to unwanted matter in your gut and aiding elimination. Fluoride poisoning is not restricted to your gut, it's systemic. I don't think AC has any effect to other parts of your body other than the inside of your digestive system. Does anyone else know?

Hi Michael, Everything I have read states charcoal will not remove fluoride from your body. You can verify this by searching this on the internet. Borax will however remove fluoride from your body. Earth Clinic has a ton of information on how to use Borax to remove fluoride. Be sure and take you time to read the info so you will completely understand the process and for how long. I think I read it was 6 months but not sure. Good luck.

WARNING!

Activated charcoal DOES NOT remove fluoride from water nor does it remove it from your body. There are only three things I am aware of used for fluoride removal and that is:

1)Activated Alumina - this is not rated for internal use nor do I presume that it would be safe.

2) Red Clay - There have been some studies published out of India where natural Red Clays were used to remove fluoride from water but it required that the water be in contact with the clay media for a minimum of 15 min. For absorption to take place. It is likely that a food grade red clay or even a food grade zeolite clay would be able to remove fluoride internally.

3) Reverse Osmosis - does remove fluoride from water. Additionally, as others here have mentioned, food grade sodium tetraborate (borax) has been shown in clinical trials to induce chelation of fluoride compounds from the body via the urine.

A responder to this post and other responders to other posts have suggested the use of reverse osmosis machines to remove fluoride. That will work. However there is a problem with these statements. Almost all of them will only remove a limited portion of the fluoride. Some as little as 30%. The best that I was able to find was a 98% removal rate. Email the company that produces the RO system you wish to buy before you buy and ask them to state the amount of fluoride it will remove as a percentage... You can then have a record in writing of their removal rate.

Check out the Pure Water Systems, Inc. , at purewatersystems.com. They seem to have the best RO system available.

If you get a Reverse Osmosis filter be prepared to spend TONS on filters! Fair warning! The Fluoride eats holes in the filter very quickly so you have to change the filters MUCH more often than 'recommended'. A dear friend had RO for several years but was going broke changing filters so often, and appalled at what her filters looked like being eaten by the Fluoride.

The filtering of Fluoride is still a big debate. The reality is there just isn't a way to safely filter all Fluoride from our water. Dr. Russell Blaylock stays on top of this issue. I suggest following him to keep up on up-to-date info. He actually has a Distiller to get rid of Fluoride. Distilling is controversial as well so you have to decide what is most important to you; getting rid of Fluoride or losing some minerals from your water. I figure I can replace the things Distilling takes out but Fluoride is forever...

Try Calcium Magnesium. I'm suffering right now. The National Research Council has published a book on Fluoride. You can download or view it for free on their website. I'm obtaining my calcium magnesium from Bastyr Center for Natural Health. I was taking calcium and they said this was better. It helps

From what I have read... Ionizing the water removes flouride. It renders the water alkaline as well. They are expensive machines, but am looking into getting one at our local co-op, that all the members can use.

I think what is misunderstood is that generally Fluoride cannot be removed completely, but technology has come far enough to substantially reduce it. What has to happen is that the water has to travel through the filtration medium slow enough in order to filter appropriately. I could go on and on, but I will share my ordeal ...It's been really hard to find companies that are truly reputable when it comes to their fluoride removal claims. A lot of companies claim NSF accreditation, but one must be very careful about that and know exactly what the certification is for. Most of the time it does not measure how well the filter removes contaminants. Just thought I would pass on my findings as I have been researching for myself to ensure we get a quality filter that does what it claims from a reputable company. There is a small company out of New York that I found that has a filtration system (I'm referring to their under the counter 'ultra' version...though they have several other configurations) that removes fluoride, prescription drugs, and even radiation via Zeolite. It even raises the alkalinity of the water. They have an independent test done by a nationwide lab analysis company and I also contacted the lab personally to ensure that this company was reputable and that the lab results were not fabricated......anyhow it all checked out. The only thing that you might find is that the alkalinity of the water starts off a bit on the higher side (ph 9.3) but will settle in at about 8.0 after a month. Anyhow, I think they have an excellent filter and hope it will help in your search...good luck. Here is the link, and if you notice their customer reviews are all top notch, the best that I can find...if you have any questions at all someone will speak to you. I spoke with them, verified their lab test and I tell everyone about them cause its a fabulous product. http://www.pureeffectfilters.com/#a_aid=Ultrawater

Activated Charcoal, whether you use a gravity fed or faucet cannister, cannot remove fluoride from your body or from dinking water. Charcoal can remove some bacteria, chemical toxins and heavy metals through a process known as ABSORPTION (basically trapping these particles within the nooks and crannies of the charcoal itself). Fluoride ions, however, are far, far too small to be trapped by charcoal and it is one of the most reactive elements on the periodic table. As a result it quickly binds to your tissues, organs and your skeletal and central nervous system virtually immediately once ingested or through showering or bathing. This very harmful molecule is very difficult, though not impossible, to remove once it gets into your body. But the best way to prevent fluoride toxicity is through stopping it before it gets into your body.

There only 2 ways to remove fluoride from your water. One is Reverse Osmosis which some systems claim to remove up to 98%. However this process wastes a lot of water as well as demineralizing it completely. And if you choose R.O. then you need to be sure to add a device that can replace the essential trace minerals.

The other is by using one of 2 filter substrates...Activated Alumina or Bone-Char Carbon (Crushed and Burned Animal Bones). They are much more cost efficient than R.O. systems and can remove virtally all detectable levels of fluoride through a process known as ADSORPTION. By possessing a positive (+) charge they actually attractive the negatively (-) charged fluorine ions. There are various companies out there that manufacture whole house or shower and undersink systems that use either Alumina or Bone-Char Carbon. I would recommend the latter because Alumina, though equally effective, will put trace amounts of aluminum into your water which, though not as destructive as fluoride to your central nervous & endocrine systems, is considered, itself, to be a heavy metal and can also be neuro-toxic over time.

Your words of love and gratitude taped to the glass you are drinking out will purify it instantly and turn the molecules into from dirty muddy ones into clean crystallized ones. It will purify the whole water plus get rid of the fluoride. See Dr Emotes water experiment and his rice experiment. Blessing your water and your food is really a free way of staying alive and healthy and now proven by science. However they will always try to discredit something that we can do for free because people don't make money out advocating this knowledge.

You can also consider not Reverse osmosis, but a water distiller which costs around 100 to 500. Get a water distiller with a glass jug and a carbon filter element built into the distiller (OR get a water bottle/jug with a built in carbon filter and run it through the filter before drinking it).

Since sodium fluoride has a high boiling point, you're not likely to get any fluoride in the distilled water, but if you want to be sure, combine distilled water with borax and you've got yourself fluoride free water. Borax info below: A little late, but consider Borax (around 300 mg but not more than 1100mg) per 1 litre of water or a pinch per cup of water to remove fluoride from your body and the water itself.

Make sure the seller is reputable and trustworthy (use your intuition/common sense) and is at least 99.9 percent pure with the word "authentic" in the product labeling (I found eBay to work well as it's not publicly sold in shops where I'm located anymore) as there is such thing as synthetic borax which is harmful to you. Real borax comes from the mediterranean in Turkey and is around 25 for 1 kg.

On a side note: sodium fluoride is the nasty stuff whilst calcium fluoride is the good fluoride found in nature,

Also, grounding yourself (it's especially good for people who live in emf covered areas of harmful 5g, 4g, wifi 2.4 or 5Ghz, etc. Consider lowering the output TX/mW of your wireless router to low setting or around 7 to 50mW (experiment with what's comfortable with you) and switch off the 2.4 Ghz band if you can (at the cost of reduced range). If it's a router only and you can't adjust the output power then consider open-source such as dd-wrt firmware) and 100% essential oils does wonders for your health.

Search it on duckduckgo (uncensored search engine) and learn more. Emf sensitivity is also called "microwave sickness" and it's very real.

I read, years ago, that people in a heavily fluoride contaminated location used fired, unglazed terracotta - i.e., old bricks - to get the fluoride out of their drinking water. I wish I could remember the name of that book. It was extremely interesting but I was an herbalist at the time and had ordered the book through the library system. It was quite old and not strictly an herbal reference so I didn't bother to even note the title, let alone track it down to purchase for myself. I think it was written by a missionary...

Anyway, we have "good" water but, nevertheless, I've been collecting and gathering bits and pieces of old unglazed terracotta and was particularly excited by the appearance of an antique brick that came to the surface in my lawn. ROFL!

I moved to Ireland where the public water supply is fluoridated. A single cup of fluoridated water gives me an extreme headache - I suffer from multiple chemcial sensitivity. I try to avoid drinking fluoridated water as much as possible, but soemtimes it is simply impolite to refuse an offered cup of tea or coffee. By chance I found that fresh aloe vera helps me to get rid of the headache. I notice the prematurely aged skin of most Irish women, most of whom have the genetic make-up for beautiful skin. A' female friend with a very beautiful skin - she is in her fifties - told me that she has been taking aloe vera juice for the past fifteen years.

Fluoride is highly damaging to the thyroid gland. Pure water is a must... The enzyme poison effect extends to our genes; DNA cannot repair itself, and chromosomes are damaged. Work at the University of Missouri showed genital damage, targeting ovaries and testes. Also affected is inter uterine growth and development of the foetus, especially the nervous system. Increased incidence of Down's Syndrome has been documented. Fluorides are mutagenic. That is, they can cause the uncontrolled proliferation of cells we call cancer. This applies to cancer anywhere in the body; but bones are particularly picked out. The incidence of osteosarcoma in a study reporting in 1991 showed an unbelievable 50% increase. A report in 1955 in the New England Journal of Medicine showed a 400% increase in cancer of the thyroid in San Francisco during the period their water was fluoridated. My particular concern is the effect of fluorides on the thyroid gland

Perhaps I may remind you about thyroid disease. The thyroid gland produces hormones which control our metabolism - the rate at which we burn our fuel. Deficiency is relatively common, much more than is generally accepted by many medical authorities: a figure of 1:4 or 1:3 by mid life is more likely. The illness is insidious in its onset and progression. People become tired, cold, overweight, depressed, constipated; they suffer arthritis, hair loss, infertility, atherosclerosis and chronic illness. Sadly, it is poorly diagnosed and poorly managed by very many doctors in this country. What concerns me so deeply is that in concentrations as low as 1ppm, fluorides damage the thyroid system on 4 levels.

1. The enzyme manufacture of thyroid hormones within the thyroid gland itself. The process by which iodine is attached to the amino acid tyrosine and converted to the two significant thyroid hormones, thyroxine (T4) and liothyronine (T3), is slowed.

2. The stimulation of certain G proteins from the toxic effect of fluoride (whose function is to govern uptake of substances into each of the cells of the body), has the effect of switching off the uptake into the cell of the active thyroid hormone.

3. The thyroid control mechanism is compromised. The thyroid stimulating hormone output from the pituitary gland is inhibited by fluoride, thus reducing thyroid output of thyroid hormones.

4. Fluoride competes for the receptor sites on the thyroid gland which respond to the thyroid stimulating hormone; so that less of this hormone reaches the thyroid gland and so less thyroid hormone is manufactured. These damaging effects, all of which occur with small concentrations of fluoride, have obvious and easily identifiable effects on thyroid status. The running down of thyroid hormone means a slow slide into hypothyroidism. Already the incidence of hypothyroidism is increasing as a result of other environmental toxins and pollutions together with wide spread nutritional deficiencies. 141 million Europeans are at risk.

One further factor should give us deep anxiety. Professor Hume of Dundee, in his paper given earlier this year to the Novartis Foundation, pointed out that iodine deficiency is growing worldwide. There are 141 million Europeans are at risk; only 5 European countries are iodine sufficient. UK now falls into the marginal and focal category. Professor Hume recently produced figures to show that 40% of pregnant women in the Tayside region of Scotland were deficient by at least half of the iodine required for a normal pregnancy. A relatively high level of missing, decayed, filled teeth was noted in this non-fluoridated area, suggesting that the iodine deficiency was causing early hypothyroidism which interferes with the health of teeth. Dare one speculate on the result of now fluoridating the water? It also displaces Iodine in the body.. **********************************************************

Try having 2 teaspoons in a cup of water with half a teaspoon of honey, I have just read from alot of people it is really hard to keep down, after having it now for a few weeks, it almost tastes like weak cordial, and its all a mind over matter. I discovered Apple cider vinegar when my cat became sick with a Urinary Tract infection, upon giving him a teaspoon in his wet tuna mix, and a bit of water, he was happier in a matter of hours and is completely normal now. To everyone seeking a detox or a trying to lose weight, I can assure you this works. But make sure you use only pure water.

I'm a 26 year old male and I've done the borax to detox fluoride 6 times now over the last several years. I've found it improves my sleep, the vividness of my dreams and my mental clarity. I looked into getting my urine tested for F- ions (to prove if this method really does anything) but decided not to as it costs $200+

I used:

1/4 tsp 20 Mule Team Borax

1/8 tsp Himalayan Pink Salt

1 L bottle of Mountain Valley spring water (glass bottle)

*It takes effort to actually dissolve the borax all the way but this is crucial*

I drink the Liter of Borax water over the first 8 hours of the day along with plenty of other Fluoride-free liquids like spring or coconut water. Eating very clean is a good idea too. No sense adding more toxins to your stomach with the borax.

As far as side effects, I have noticed a slight flushing feeling and lightheadedness a few times. All in all, I feel that this method works. I'm alive and healthy and will continue to do this throughout my lifetime.

Hello. I found this site and begun the fluoride detox with borax. I took borax 1/8th teaspoon in 1 litre of water.

The cure was good, but then the fluorides begun to combine with the grease on my skin. It seems the fluoride was excreting but was being combined with grease on the surface of my skin. This made my skin waterproof and impossible to rinse off with soap.

Please help, I need a solution. Thanks

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

Ok, I thought to test Borax to eliminate Flouride poison because of drinking tea and municipal water and also to eliminate other parasites. As mentioned. Mixed quarter teaspoon of borax with 1 liter of water. Sipped it throughout the day.

I was just severely bloated the next day, I did not feel any positive change immediately. Then the second day I stopped drinking borax. May be the side effect is due to detox reaction.

However, the third day I really felt the body being very light, no feeling of heaviness. More energy. More clarity. It was great. I can really feel that the flourine was easily removed.

I did not continue this routine as the bloating is hampering my daily work. May be I will try again and explain detail.

Good Health. Thanks

I'd like to say thank you so much to God for answering my prayers and thank you EarthClinic for helping to save my life. I have been so miserable with muscle pain, muscle twitching, jaw pain, constipation, dry eyes, dizziness, stomach pain, depression, anxiety, headaches, fatigue, itching all over even in my ears, pain under left shoulder blade, muscle contraction, and the list goes on. I have been terribly ill for over a decade. I have seen numerous doctors. At only 23 years old, several years ago the best advice one docter could give me was to start walking with a cane. Most docters wrote me off as a hypochondriac or tried to put me on anti-depressants.

I'm a yoga teacher, so I'm very in tune with my body. I just knew it wasn't "all in my head". I tried several different remedies on EarthClinic through the years and tried cutting out many different foods thinking I had a food allergy. It literally felt like I was allergic to every kind of food. However finally after constant prayer, a very patient husband, and years of research; I figured our that my sickness had worsened significantly in 2008 when parts of San Diego began putting fluoride in the water. The intial exposure came from growing up in Indianapolis, IN. And I became extremely sick in 2011 after the birth of my daughter (anesethia has fluoride) and when all of San Diego County started fluoridating their water.

After just one week of avoiding as much tap water as possible in food and drink and using a pinch of borax in reverse osmosis water, I feel like a different person. This IS a miracle! I had gotten to a very dark place. Even with the birth of my daughter, I had lost the will to live with so much pain. Just a heads up though, there have been several times where I took Lugol's iodine and the detox symtoms were utterly unbearable. Blessings!

In answer about the borax and reverse osmosis water, I too suffered horribly from all these symptoms that I've read on this site. I had a child in 2000 and had so many symptoms that all lead back to fluoride poisoning. I've had a nodule on my thyroid since 2006 and could not lose weight no matter what I tried. The question was... How was I to get rid of this nodule on my thyroid that apparently came from the fluoride poisoning and how do I get rid of the fluoride from my body. To prevent it from entering is one thing but how do you effectively get out what had been accumulating inside for years. Well, I found that boron, a trace mineral leaches with the fluoride and pulls it out of your body when you go to the restroom. I recently went back to the doctor. They've been doing ultrasounds every 6 months and it was pretty much staying the same. About 7 milimeters or so. I've also done a MRI so the doctor can really see what is going on. It is now down to 4 milimeters and the doctor told me to keep doing what I was doing and that he has never seen someone's thyroid nodule shrink. I'm losing weight little by little, but it is coming off. I thank all of you for sharing. Everything we all post, will help others in their research. Thank you!

I wanted to share my experience with the Borax protocol for removing fluoride from the body. My theory was that my daughter's "non-24 hour sleep-wake syndrome" (very rare circadian rhythm sleep disorder) was caused by unintentional cumulative chronic fluoride intake (water), so we tried Borax to see if it would remove the fluoride and fix the problem. We gave her a tiny fraction of the recommended adult dosage because she is still quite young. Within about two months of gradually stepping up her dose (still not very much! ) she started sleeping at the same time every day (the non-24 hour disorder caused her to operate on a 25-hour internal clock and she went to bed an hour later and woke up an hour later each day). Now she has reverted back to the less severe "delayed sleep phase syndrome" going to bed very late, around 3am each day for the past month at least (which is how she slept before the shifting phase began). I could hardly believe it was working so I waited many weeks before getting too excited about what I was seeing. Nothing else we tried had made the cycle even budge. I believe she will eventually move to a more normal bedtime, which she has never yet been able to have in her first 3.5 years of life. When this happens, I will post updates!

My husband had the delayed sleep phase for most of his adult life and used the same protocol alongside my daughter. He now reports wanting to go to bed much earlier, rarely able to even stay up past midnight. He is reporting sleeping more deeply now as well. He has not even reached his full dose yet, as he does experience mild headaches when he increases his dose so he is going very slowly. I feel that his success with the Borax protocol is further proof that my daughter didn't just grow out of it.

I believe our fluoridated water also caused three of our pets to become ill with kidney failure type of symptoms and all died from this within just over a year's time frame (quite a coincidence). Now I wonder what else the fluoride has been doing to us, but at least we are doing something to reverse it. I urge everyone to look up the many, MANY sources of the fluoride scourge that esp. Americans are being assaulted with from all sides. Then, figure out how to avoid it (most water filters do not remove it). But esp. if you have some crazy sleep patterns, or you have been diagnosed with insomnia but feel you may have been misdiagnosed, please check into the fluoride toxicity issue. I hope this post helps someone!!!

Hi, I have seen the recommendation to add 1/4 tsp of Borax in a liter of water to leech out flouride. Is this amount of borax safe for children? My 7 yrs old girl just got diagnosed with mild Flourosis. I would like to give her the Borax-water combination. She weighs 43lbs(19. 5kg). No, I would NOT give your child that dose. The safe dose for adults is 1/8 teaspoon of borax in a liter of water so a child's dose would be 1/16th or less. Consider buying homeopathic pellets of borax instead. Much safer way to go. I bought mine online.

Mercedes from Salem, Oregon: Here's some chemistry knowledge for you: One atom difference between two molecules fundamentally changes their structure and function.

Borax is not the same as boric acid. It is a sodium salt of boric acid, which may explain your confusion. Boric acid is toxic internally, but borax (sodium tetraborate) is used as a food additive and can be used for detoxifying fluoride in small amounts. There's an LD50 for both, which means at some level both compounds will kill you. So eat a lot of either one. Or don't I mean.

I think it's funny how scared people are of Borax just because it has a scary-chemical name. Borax is just a mineral. And the "lethal dose" of Boric Acid for rats is over 5 grams! For comparison's sake, the lethal dose of ordinary salt is 3.75grams. That is also easily found on Wikipedia. Salt just happens to have a less scary name. So, in conclusion... Don't EVER eat salt. It's toxic.

To be more specific, Boron is the mineral and Borax is a salt of boron aka Sodium Tetra borate.

Incidentally, the LD50 (the dose at which half of the tested animals die, LD= Lethal Dose) of Boron is higher than ordinary table salt (that means less salt kills more rats). The Material Safety Data Sheet or MSDS for borax indicates: 'Low acute oral toxicity; LD50 in rats 4,500 to 6,000 mg/kg of body weight. No human studies or reports of adverse effects.

Compare to salt: Lowest Published Lethal Oral Dose in Man: 1000 mg/kg LD50 !! The MSDS reports: Acute oral toxicity for table salt, 3,000 mg/kg [Rat]. A lower number is more dangerous. Aspirin LD50=750 (mg/kg). Aspirin LD50 [rat] = 200!

And sorry, coffee drinkers, Caffeine =192 mg/kg [rat], even more toxic than aspirin, and way, way more toxic than borax!!

Borax

After reading Jason Uttley's article on the fluoride / fibromyalgia connection I have decided to try borax ingestion. I have seen numerous doctors over the years looking for cause of my illness without luck. I have mostly refused medications as if they don't help in first couple days I don't keep taking them... I have a strong adversion against perscription medicine.

My Details:

10-12 years of fibromyalgia symptoms (huge overlap to fluoride poison symptoms) including:

upper back pain between shoulder blades

numbness and aching in arms, hands, fingers, elbows, and most upper body joints.

trouble sleeping due to pain... I wake up 5-10 times a night. Very hard time staying on any sleep schedule.

Can only sleep hugging a pillow and only on my side. I roll over numerous times per night due to discomfort.

hip pain sleeping

blurry vission in morning for few few hours.. Never fully clears up

very annoying tinitus high pitch ringing at all times

I am overweight, ~210lbs at 5'9"

I am male and 36 years old.

I took Cipro for 30 days about 10 years ago. This may be around the time symptoms started. It has been so long I don't remember if this exactly matches the symptoms as they came on slowly over years.

I have a scuba diving accident 17 years ago and was treated for the Bends.. Thought this may have something to do with symptoms.. Though I can not find any link or info about this relationship. It was a mind case of the bends.

I have lived in Colorado Springs for 8 years and our water Fluoride is 1.75 ppm. Interestingly I didn't think we had fluoride water as no extra is added. Why the # is so high I do not know.

More info on what I have tried previously here:

www.justanswer.com/medical/4p3bc-upper-back-shoulder-blade-spine.html

---

I will post here as I try Borax. Here is my first result post:

Day1:

1/4 tsp borax, 20 Mules brand to 1 Liter of Britta filtered water (didn't have any distilled). Started drinking it about an hour before bed. I drank 1/2 of it fairly slowly before bed, so only ingested 1/8 tsp first evening.

Sleep seemed a bit deeper, though I did oversleep, as usual, the following morning. I slept from about midnight to 11am. This has become an almost normal sleep night for me. 10-11 hours to feel barely rested. However, this morning I felt a little more rested than usual.

Ringing in ears is still there at normal volume

Pain maybe slightly better, but not enough to know for sure... I have some days better/worse than others.

Muscles in shoulders and back are sore like a workout, but I did try a TENS unit for the first time yesterday and suspect that caused the muscle soreness.

I will get some distilled water soon to replace the britta water. I am however unsure how to eliminate fluoride from diet considering any drink I have when out (I eat out about 2/3 of my meals) will be tap water based.

I will post again in a day or few...

Hi Aaron... Borax is a very useful supplement for your Fibromylagia, but my own feeling on your problem is that you seem to have multiple issues. Any immunological disease like Fibromyalgia does not just arise from one cause, but usually arises through imbalances involving excessive intake of poisons - pesticides, heavy metals or halogens like fluoride/bromide - as well as due to lack of important nutrients - such as a lack of vitamins, amino acids or body electrolyte minerals. This lack of dietary nutrients combined with excess intake of poisons and toxins from processed food and water are what actually work to first weaken your immune system, your hormone system and your energy system etc over many years and that is when diseases like Fibromylagia strike, allowing other outside pathogens entry into your body - such as the Epstein Barr virus, candida etc. Alot of your issues also seem to stem from an acid body/blood condition, possibly due to excessive Calcium intake in your diet.

It might therefore be useful to take a broader range of supplements which will help to address your many issues:

ACV, Baking soda and Magnesium

The method is to add 2 tablespoons of organic ACV(Apple Cider Vinegar) into a glass, half fill the glass with water then add 1/4 to 1/2 tspn of Baking Soda until the fizzing stops. Drink this two or three times a day outside mealtimes. Also take 300 mgs Magnesium Chloride or Magnesium Citrate or Mag Gluconate twice a day. Or you could also use the more convenient Transdermal Method of Magnesium intake using Epsom Salts or Magnesium Chloride. The magnesium will help balance and remove excessive calcium from your tissue cells which may be causing your pain. This ACV mixture is also highly alkalizing and beneficial for the blood and the cells. The magnesium will also help to stop the tinnitis and the magnesium will also help to relax you and help you sleep properly. Here are some research details for this Fibromylagia remedy.

Lugol's Iodine

Dosage: 2 to 4 drops twice a day in a glass of water. While dealing with a 320 lb diabetic patient, Dr Flechas -- a researcher from the Iodine Project -- found that while taking 50 mgs(8 drops) of 5% Lugols Iodine, this patient was not only able to completely come off her insulin meds, but she also lost 70 lbs as well. Here is the research and testamonial. Both Magnesium and Iodine seem to have a very positve effect on reducing cell insulin receptor resistance which is caused mainly through diet by eating too much processed vegetable oils. Iodine will also boost the thyroid gland as well as help boost and aid the immune system. Iodine is also used to remove fluorine, bromine, cadmium, lead, mercury and aluminium from the body.

Liver Cleanse, Detox and Repair Option

The liver is the chemical factory of the body. It has an intimate hormonal relationship with the pancreas, the thyroid and the adrenals. It controls and balances protein, fat and sugar metabolism. If you are overweight then chances are that your liver may be stressed or damaged and cannot cope. The liver also removes the trash from the blood, as well as helps to control fat storage in the body. By cleansing, detoxing and repairing the liver you will also improve the immune system, more correctly regulate hormone balance, reduce excess fat storage and improve blood quality. This protocol is a triple anti-oxidant therapy which will help to cleanse, detox and repair the liver. Details and dosages are given here:

Chanca Piedra -- 1000 mgs twice a day at mealtimes.
Milk Thistle -- 1000 mgs twice a day at mealtimes
Alpha Lipoic Acid -- 300 mgs twice a day at mealtimes
Selenium -- 100 micrograms twice a day at mealtimes.
Vitamin C -- As Ascorbate, 1000 mgs twice a day at mealtimes.

Borax will certainly help to remove fluoride, will help to balance the hormones and will act as a very useful anti-fungal but it will not, in my opinion, cure the blood acidity or tissue pain or sleep problems or possible liver problems or tinnitis or overwieght problems. And since you have so many multiple issues, then perhaps it would be more uaseful if you adopted a multiple strategy -- as above -- that tries to address all the root causes at once.

Hi Aaron,
I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 20years ago... and your letter could have been written by me - symptom wise anyway.
I just have a few more things to suggest trying that I have found helpful for the fatigue and upper back shoulder thing....

An incline board really helps the spinal compression to loosen up and gives a really good stretch. Also, I just started rebounding a couple of weeks ago, and the energy I have been having due to it is AMAZING. Something to do with moving the lymph out of the body with the bouncing motion. Maybe do a web search on "benefits of rebounding"? I also Youtube's it.

As far as supplements, I take ACV (1 oz) and then 3 tbsp Organic VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil) in my coffee.

Also - Boron 3mg a day (another amazing mineral to research! ) D-3 at 4, 000 IU a day, Magnesium at 400mg a day, and slight calcium to balance out.... But keeping the Calcium at equal or less mg as the mag. Vitamin C - 2, 000 a day (broken up into 2 doses) and lots of WATER! The human body needs much more water than it is generally getting. There are books written on this!

Fibromyalgia is a miserable thing, and I hope you figure out what you need to do to feel good again!

Hi Paul... In answering your questions on Magnesium Oil and ACV:

How many spray do I need each time for a glass of water?

If you are lacking Magnesium, take 10 drops(with a dropper) of magnesium oil in a glass of water twice a day. When your stool suddenly becomes loose, this will be magnesium saturation, so cut back to about 10 drops per day(or whatever suits you) in a glass of water. This is called titrating the dose. You can also spray the Mag Oil all over your body and it will be absorbed in greater amounts through the skin than via ingestion and absorbtion through the intestines. You can also reach higher levels of Magnesium in the blood transdermally without the problems of loose stools -- the kidneys should easily be able to get rid of any excess levels of magnesium in the blood without problems.

I have been adding baking soda directly to the apple cider vinegar until stop fizzle or close to it, then I add the water last. Is the wrong way? or does it matter?

You do it how you want!! I prefer just to add water to the ACV to half glass then add the Baking soda bit by bit until no fizz. Then I add a bit more Baking Soda afterwards to ensure the solution is buffered and alkaline and then I drink it. ACV plus baking soda alkalizes the intracellular environment whereas extra Baking Soda works to alkalize the blood. But that's just my way...

In developing Cipro, pharmaceutical companies manufacture this antibiotic and a host of other meds with fluorine so it is potentiated in the body. The fluoride molecules attach to the magnesium, crystallizes and heads for the joints - hence all the pain. Tendon damage takes awhile to heal. Read her blog - she has researched this topic her entire career as an MD and ND. She is the real deal.

Hi Roland...You can certainly leech out the fluoride from your body using borax. Borax also acts as one of the best fungal killers and also kills bacteria as well as balances the hormones and is also good for bone.

A more complete regimen to clear all dangerous halides from your body -- that's fluorides, bromides and chlorides -- is simply to take iodine. You can supplement iodine taking either Iodoral tablets or Lugol's iodine or simply use iodine foot-painting with tincture of iodine(as I do). Iodine will also leech out lead and mercury from your body as well.

Ways to clear heavy metals are -- take cilantro (chinese parsely, coriander leaf) three times a week in salads or just drink green tea several times a day. You can also take take sodium thiosulfate regularly to rid heavy metals from your body. See the relevant section here:

Sodium Thiosulfate Heavy Metal Detox

If you are using borax to clear fluorides then it is sensible to take this protocol for four days on with three days off every week.

Ted quotes:

"Tea is naturally high in fluoride so adding some borax will negate this effect."

"I take green tea myself and aware of some of the pitfalls. However, I take the necessary precautions, while avoiding white bread and white flour use, as well as taking some kelp, seaweed or even using iodine as a mouthwash to prevent the problems of iodine deficiency. "

He explains the law of "halogen displacement" that shows how the relative atomic weight of the following: Flourine (19.0), Chlorine(35.5), Bromine (80.0) and Iodine (127.0) determines which one displaces the rest (if more than one are present in the body). Flourine will always displace chlorine, and Chlorine can displace both Bromine and Iodine. So, basically, Iodine is the underdog here and will always be displaced by those with a lower atomic weight.

His recommendations include avoiding chlorinated water, eating foods rich in iodine (cod liver oil and kelp along with certain vegetables) or taking Lugol's solution.

Thought this was worthwhile info to share!

C: It is also recommended to filter not only drinking water but also water for bathing or showering. If taking a bath, add a few grains of Sodium thiosulfate to neutralize any of those "ines" in the water or body. ST can also be consumed orally to remove those nasty "ines" but always be sure to supplement Iodine back for the Thyroid.

S.T. can be purchased at local or online fish & aquarium or swimming pool supply stores as a commercial grade "de-chlorinator".

Fibro/Flouride

A brief history. 7 years ago thyroid cancer, the next year adrenal fatigue then early menopause, the following year uterine prolapsed followed by hysterectomy- the following year fibromyalgia and neuropathy. Early Childhood was fluorinated water along with fluoride tablets. Fall of 2008 I was looking at total disability. I could barely walk and couldn't sleep because of the pain and was throwing up daily from the pain in my back. I was on many medications that gave me no relief and I have since found out that they had fluoride as a binding agent. I was sure that my life was over at 45, but thanks to Ted and Earthclinic I am almost at 100%. After reading about fluoride I came to understand where all of my problems originated. I had all the symptoms and reactions. It has been an uphill battle with my doctors and relatives, but you can't argue with a body that is almost pain free. I began the borax detox of 1/8 tsp in a liter of water and within 3 days my symptoms were almost gone. I watch everything I eat and can detect fluoride in vitamins, foods and drinks within 15 minutes of ingesting it. I still suffer from the neuropathy and some pain from the neuropathy but I am off all meds and I have my life. I only wish more people would try to understand the fluoride connections. My sister and mother both suffer with side effects of fluoride and I have only been able to influence my mother. I still borax 5 days on and two days off and give my body a break every month or so for about a week. Thank you :)
