HOT TEA

5 YEA    2 NAY

[YEA]  Julie from Edina MN writes: "make a cup of your favorite tea, add a slice of lemon, lemon juice, 2-3 tablespoons of honey and add aloe vera juice, you can mix some ginger or cinnamon in too if you want: It works great! my throat cleared up overnight."

07/25/2008: Harold from Brandon, Florida replies: "Hot tea with Ginger does help some with sore throat pain, but avoid sugar as it will only aggravate the congestion. A warm salty water gargle is also helpful and recomended by MD's, DO's, homeopathic and my late mother."

[YEA]  Donovan from Nassau, Bahamas writes: "An effective remedy is a hot cup of tea with three drops of lozenges (Vicks or Equate). Personally, I prefer Vicks. Ingredients:
1. Hot Cup of Tea (Before adding sugar, place one drop of the desired cough/sore throat suppressant).
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Add 3 teaspoons of sugar.
4. Stir tea for 10 seconds. (This allows the menthol to mix with the tea and drop to dissolve).
5. Then add 2 more drops of the cough/sore throat drop.
6. Wait 10 seconds and it's done and ready to consume.

If done accurately, you should be able to smell the menthol vapors from about a foot away. I should also warn you that the 1/4 of tea left in the cup will be the very strong and may taste equivalent to that of a cough syrup (not as harsh) but it works. With 2 or 3 cups of this, you should be ready to go. Enjoy."

HOW TO STOP THE BURNING FROM CAYENNE SALT

03/12/2008: Belina from Merida, Yucatan, Mexco writes: "I've read about people having problems with Cayenne, Habanero or other "hot" chilies or sauces and as a Chef who specializes in Mexican fare, plus I now live in Mexico too, I can give you a very easy and efficient remedy to ease the burning from peppers. Also, it doesn't matter if the burning is in your mouth, lips, face (from touching it with your hands after handling peppers) or hands, it works:

Put a little salt on the palm of your left hand, wet the tip of your right index finger in your mouth slightly and dip it in the salt and place it UNDER your tongue (sublingual) in the tender area on your jaw and not ON the underside of the tongue. Relief is very quick, easy to do, you can do it anywhere (like a restaurant) and works for everyone plus you can find salt everywhere."

03/07/2008: Nina from San Diego, CA writes: "Cayenne pepper works, but in order to ease the hotness, I just use orange juice. Put an 1/8 of a teaspoon in a glass of orange juice, and drink it. Make sure the oj has pulp in it, the cayenne will bond to the pulp, and it won't burn your mouth at all! I have been using this method for years. And DON'T use milk to "ease the hotness" when you're sick- avoid dairy products"

03/02/2008: Brittany from Lake Wylie, South Carolina writes: "I actually haven't tried the cayenne pepper yet, but am sure it will work. I'm more concerned with what people are using to take the heat away afterwards... You should use sugar. It absorbs the heat. Bread probably works too, but not as much. Milk, just like water, spreads it around even more and will probably upset your stomach, especially if you try lemon with any of the remedies. So bottom line, use sugar not milk or water."

12/28/2007: Blue1965 from Stafford, Virginia writes: "To remove the burning from your mouth after using cayenne pepper or chilli pepper, take a slice of bread and push it down on your tongue & the roof of your mouth. The pepper grounds stick to the bread and come right off the skin inside of the mouth. You might have to move the bread around to get it all but it stops the burning."

04/21/2007: Helen from Toronto, Canada writes: "Cayenne pepper remedy cured my sore throat. This helped: Cover lips with vaseline before gargling. Keep tongue up by the roof of the mouth when sipping. Finally, keep a cold wet washcloth while gargling, wipe lips (especially inner lips) and tongue with it, it helps. Rinse washcloth every time to remove pepper dust from cloth. Washcloth dipped in icy ice cube water works best. Stinging from pepper subsided within a few minutes."

03/01/2007: Patty from Pine City, MN writes: "I use cayenne pepper too for sore throats, but have found that mixing it in glycerine makes it much easier to take. Take about 2 teaspoons of cayenne pepper (I use red pepper from my spice cabinet) and mix with 1 ounce of glycerine. Let sit together (I let sit for 2 days) then strain, using a coffee filter, into a bottle with a dropper. This method makes the concoction taste almost sweet and works great. Just drip onto sore areas of throat."

HYDROGEN PEROXIDE

11 YEA

[YEA]  10/07/2008: Leslie from Jamestown, NC writes: "Hydrogen Peroxide worked great for my sore throat. I gargled a mixture of half mouthwash, half hydrogen peroxide. This definitely cut the icky taste of the peroxide. It didn't give immediate relief, but my sore throat was cured overnight. I will definitely be using this again!"

[YEA]  10/05/2008: Martha Martinez (m_mtz40@hotmail.com) from El Centro, CA writes: "The best way to completely heal a sore throat quick is with Hydrogen Peroxide. The regular brand from any store in the brown bottle. Just brush teeth and mouth and as far back throat as comfortably possible, then gargle about a capful or one tablespoon or even dilute it with a bit of water.

Beware of the fizz as your throat, tongue and gums are stripped of all the bad stuff! It will most likely make you gag from all the funk! Rinse and do it again! You will be amazed at the almost immediate releif! Since it is a natural remedy, you can do several times a day as needed but honestly one or two applications should do the trick! It's amazing that something so common and cheap can do such an amazing job! Best and cheapest cure out there!"

[YEA]  09/22/2008: Bob from New York, USA writes: "Hydrogen Peroxide: I have tried many of these remedies that are supposed to work and they didn't. This one really worked. Just gargle it a few times and it will instantly stop the burning and scratching in your throat. Hope this works for you as much as it worked for me:)"

[YEA]  08/21/2008: Matthew from Wellton, Arizona writes: "I recently tried the Hydrogen Peroxide gargle to cure my soar throat. Although there is a bad taste, it is effective. Just make sure you do it a couple of times until the pain is gone. It takes only minutes if you use pure peroxide, but if you can't stand the taste mix half water, half peroxide, it will take longer but it will work just as well."

[YEA]  03/23/2008: Hazel from Lake Havasu City, Arizona writes: "The best remedy I have found for a sore throat is to gargle with hydrogen peroxide. If you can't stand it full strength, then mix with a half cup of warm water. You can gargle with a mouthwash afterwards if you don't like the taste. I used to have throat problems all the time, now all I do when I feel the least bit of discomfort is gargle with the hydrogen peroxide. Relief in only minutes. Cured in a day or two depending on the severity of the problem."

[YEA]  09/19/2007: Marie from Baton Rouge, LA writes: "I have gargled hydrogen peroxide for sore throats/laryngitis for years. I get sinus congestion that ends up wrapped around my vocal cords. As soon as I start to lose my voice, I gargle with hydrogen peroxide. The bubbling breaks up the crud immediately which I'm able to cough up."

[YEA]  01/04/2007: Nathan from Auburn, MA writes: "If you feel a sore throat coming gargle with hydrogen peroxide. I know it sounds crazy but it works. It's ok to swallow just a little bit but don't drink it. Do this a couple times about 5 minutes apart and wait about an hour and it will start to go away. I've been doing this for years and shared it with other people and they are amazed how well it works!"

[YEA]  11/15/2006: Robert from Orlando, FL writes: "Gargle with peroxide first, then take a low dosage CHEWABLE vitamin C tablet (100 mg or 250 mg) place on tongue and leave it there until it dissolves. Don't swallow the tablet. It kept the scratchy throat from turning into a sore throat as well as an illness from coming on full blown. This works if it's caught in time, which is when one first detects a scratchy throat. I believe what it does is send vitamin c directly to the throat area killing the beginnings of an infection at its earliest stages. Another thing that can be done is to take some colloidal silver and put a drop in each nostril, especially after sneezing. The problem with it is that it's hard to verify that it actually DID stop a cold or flu since one can't prove what didn't happen. But it does work on a reliable basis."

[YEA]  11/12/2006: Nancy from New Jersey writes: "Just gargle with half strength peroxide, that's half peroxide and half water, twice a day. (the foaming action is nasty but the effect is well worth the unpleasant taste.) A sore throat will disappear within two days. You can add a salt water gargle between the peroxide gargles to be well even faster. (Peroxide will not treat strep. If the symptoms do not improve or if a high fever is present, please see your doctor.)"

ICY HOT

1 YEA

[YEA]  11/23/2005: Steve from Emmett, Idaho writes: "I have a couple family favorites to share. #1. Icy Hot rubbed "sparingly" on the full length of the front of your neck then wrap a hand towel around your neck and pin it with a safty pin so it stays in place. Go to bed and the next morning your sore throat is usually gone. You may want to do a test spot on your neck to see how sensitive your skin is to the Icy Hot. It will warm up your neck and possibly be uncomfortable for 5 to 10 minutes then it calms down and feels soothing. #2 The other remedies we have used successfully to fight a sore throat are gargling with Colloidal Silver or Grapefruit Extract. These are two of the strongest and safest (non-toxic) natural antibiotics available. To your health!"

[YEA]  01/31/2008: Chris from Battle Creek, MI writes: "For almost 3 days my daughter was complained of her throat feeling like she was swallowing knives. Nothing would take it away. After having tried the egg whites for her fever and it working I came back to this site and sure enough - a remedy for a sore throat...IODINE! I put some on her wrists and on the sides of her throat. It took a little bit - like hours, but her sore throat went away and has not returned since! It has been almost a week now! Thanks again for the wonderful remedies!!"

[YEA]  01/20/2008: John from Panama City, FL writes: "Iodine for Sore Throats/Ear Aches. I'm trying this for the very first time. Let me add this word of caution: KEEP TOWELS HANDY! Wherever you normally sit - say, a couch or favorite easy chair - place towels where your wrists and hands would normally rest. This is especially important if, like me, you sweat profusely even when still. I also suggest wearing clothing that you won't mind possibly getting stained, as the iodine WILL get all over."
