11/27/2008: Susan from Atlanta, Georgia, USA: "Hi, does anyone know of natural treatments for torticollis or dystonia? Medical doctors point us to botox but we do not want to do that. My daughter has had the condition very badly for seven years. Thanks to anyone who can help us."Replies
[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 02/10/2009: Amber from Ft. Myers, Fl replies: "We first sought a neurologist who said my husband wasn't in bad enough shape for any treatment at all. Then we found a Chiropractor who has additional training as a Natural Doctor. Understand the state of Fl doesn't offer a Natural Doctor's license anymore, so look for acupuncturists, chiropractors, etc. Anyway. My husband undergoes weekly neck adjustments and electro stimulation as well as takes supplements 3x per day of Ligaplex, Relax All and adreneloin. This is not a cure, however it has lessened the frequency, severity and pain associated with the shakes"
11/13/2010: Lina from Tucson, Az replies: "I was just diagnosed with cervical dystonia which I have had since I can remember. I am now on Soma medication because I am not comfortable with the idea of Botox injections. My Soma medication is a muscle relaxer that makes me feel tired all the time but I have never slept better in all my life. However, I feel that it is too strong for me. If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it."
09/21/2011: Ginger from Chandler, Az replies: "Hi, Go to stclinic.com. This is a website that brought me hope. Hope it helps you."
11/16/2011: Paul from Clearwater, Kansas replies: "I will second Ginger's claim about stclinic.com. THey offer a totally natural plan that has brought me great relief as I travel the rocky road toward recovery from ST"
04/30/2012: Ccd from Bentveld, Noord-holland, Netherlands replies: "Hi, I can also confirm that the method of stclinic.com works. After 5 months following the method, my neck has started to straighten out quite well. However, my ST is not gone. Therefore I will travel to South Korea to a clinic that treats ST patients by balancing the temporomandibular joints. According to Dr. Lee, the method yields permanent results."
01/25/2013: Craig from Houston, Texas replies: "I would not be so quick to discount botox... I've suffered with severe torticollis for about 8 years, and without my regular botox treatments, I would be permanently disfigured by now (I've seen the poor folks who spent years of their lives untreated, and it isn't pleasant). Botox isn't perfect, but it is the best remedy that medical doctors have come up with so far, and I highly recommend you try the injections for your daughter before her disease causes irreversible harm."

Remove Mercury Fillings
07/27/2013: Bennymang from Fountain Hills, Az: "I was diagnosed, finally, with Spasmodic Torticollis.
I suggested to my neurologists and chiropractor that my 20+ year dental work may be affecting me. They said that was a crazy idea until I consulted the US Olympic team's chief council, Dr, Arnold Takemoto of Scottsdale, AZ who agreed with me there was mercury poisoning from 20+ mercury amalgam fillings in my mouth. Mercury is the 2nd most toxic element and a silver filling consists of 50% mercury, 35% silver... The mercury inside your mouth vaporizes 24/7/365 and attaches to your central nervous system, but notably your jaw-the hardest bone in your body that gets less blood flow. Your mouth has 10x more nerves than anywhere in your body, thus your taste buds. Bureaucratic Medical Associations will not agree with this, but they are the ones who put mercury in our mouths when they knew it was deadly. Of course it is a conspiracy.
He shared a story of a woman he treated who was paralyzed from the waste down, took his detox protocol and had the fillings removed. Within a month she received mobility and years later her muscles have become normal with regular use.
I am documenting my severe dystonia and my path to recovery. I believe it will be an extreme relief for the dystonia community. If you have not yet considered mercury fillings and any dental work or inorganic surgeries then it is time to reconsider.

05/22/2011: Anonymous : "Hello Ted,
In 1991 I was diagnosed with Spasmodic Torticollis (Cervical Dystonia), and most recently Anterocollis just last year. I have been an avid reader of Earthclinic for many years and have successfully found many home remedies for various conditions. I, as many appreciate you sharing your plethora of health knowledge and cures.
Fortunately, I am able to still work full time but suffer from embarrassment with the continual involuntary muscle spasms (except w/sleeping) to my sternocleidomastoid constantly pulling my head to my right. As you can imagine this is very unsettling. Since there is nothing on Earthclinic about Anterocollis or CD I am unsure of which protocol would be most beneficial to me. I have read your recommendations of Meth Blue for Parkinson's and wonder if this would best serve me, or would something for a magnesium deficiency be more appropriate.
I currently drink a cup of water w/2TBLS of _____s ACV and 2 TBLS of raw honey on an empty stomach and consume 3 TBLS of coconut oil a day.
As treatment every 3 months I receive botox injections into the left of T3, 4 & 5 on my back and also to various neck muscles and do get some relief. I prefer the natural route if I just knew where to start.
I appreciate any advice or input you can offer, your time is much appreciated Ted. Thank you."
05/31/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Spasmodic Torticollis (Cervical Dystonia) could likely be a Herpes Simplex Virus and is often treated effectively with Valtrex, an antiviral remedy in a matter of 4 days. However, it may also be treated with lysine just the same, you may need some glutamine, as lysine may cause cravings for sugar and also glutamine gives energy for the immune system.
The dosage may be this:
Lysine is given at 1/2 teaspoon or about 1500 - 2000 mg hourly for four doses in the morning. Glutamine is given at 250 mg, hourly for four doses in the morning and possibly 3 more doses in the evening.
This is continued for 5-7 days to show improvement. If there is sudden urge for sugar or anything sweet just add more glutamine up to 1000 or 1500 mg.
As for magnesium it helps some of this, so you can take them, as for methylene blue 0.1% that also raises the immune system and is taken at 4 drops in the morning and 4 drops in the afternoon. Magnesium chloride or saturated magnesium is taken at 10 drops it the morning twice a day preferably before meals, also helps. But your concentration area will be the lysine. Other things that helps includes Lugol's iodine half strength at one drop before sleep helps kill it too, but if there is any nausea, you concentrate on iodine painting of the feet you can do it briefly for a week to a month.
After your improvement, on taking the lysine after 5-7 days you may take lysine 1000 mg to 1500 mg twice or three times a day if necessary.
06/14/2011: Anonymous replies: "Hi Ted,
I have been following the protocol that you so kindly laid out for me regarding the 2000mg Lysine, hourly four times in the morning and 250mg Glutamine four doses in the morning, and 3 more doses of Glutamine in the evening.
Today is my 14th day but the spasms continue. My neck muscles don't seem quite as tight but that is the only change so far. As you suggested I am taking 10 drops of the magnesium chloride twice a day on an empty stomach as well as the 4 drops of the methylene blue 0.1% in the morning and 4 drops in the afternoon in 1000mg of Vit C. I have also added half strength Lugol's @ 1 drop at bedtime.
Would it be helpful for me to continue with this protocol or should I make some changes? I'll do whatever it takes to get some relief.
Thank you for your time and attention. My best to you, thank you for your work."
06/14/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "The herpes cause is easier to treat, but since you don't respond to that, it is probably mycoplasma pneumoniae that exists in your neural system. I would therefore try a simpler form of antibiotics the macrolides that responds to that which is erythromycin, clarithromycin or azithromycin, in particular clarithromycin and azithromycin for 3 weeks at least. As far as safer alternatives, I might try Lugol's Iodine at 5 drops dose a night to see how it respond then I figure to dose based on it, they usually respond to mycoplasma in general, but I don't know for the mycoplasma pneumoniae.
06/15/2011: Anonymous replies: "Thank you Ted. I just want to clarify that I should try the Lugol's 5 drops a night first then possibily go and get a prescription for clarithromycin or azithromycin? What kind of dosage would I need?
I would have to find a doctor that would undersand why I think I need these. Would any blood work support the dx mycoplasma pneumoniae?"
06/16/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Check for antibodies against mycoplasma pneumoniae or similar mycoplasmas. You can increase to 5 drops x 6 if you are responding to that, but be careful of nausea. You can try mixing it in carrot juice if you want.
06/24/2011: Anonymous replies: "Hi Ted,
I just wanted to share with you the results of my blood tests for the mycoplasma pneumoniae Ab IgG, EIA antibody. I just got them back today and the result is 288
It also indicates that it does not differentiate between an active or past infection.
The ranges are
<0.90 for negative
.91-1.09 for equivocal
>1.10 for positive
Prior to me writing you about the cervical dystonia I had some extensive blood work done because I was experiencing chronic fatigue for the past 6 months. Without going into a lot of detail the lab results indicated anemia but not due to low iron levels, actually those were within normal range. My doctor referred me to a hemotologist and that appt is coming up next Thursday so it is quite likely that he will be able to treat me for the mycoplasma pneumoniae. At least now I will be able to take along the results of my latest bloodwork.
"muscle spasms" could be a result of the mycoplasma in the neural system.
I have experienced some naseau from 4 drops of Lugol's in carrot juice so have stopped that for now. I will keep you posted on my progress in riding myself of this hideous disease I have experienced for the past 20+ years.
I appreciate your contributions to Earth Clinic and the field of health in general. I specifically appreciate your help in shedding some light into my own situation.
Appreciatively with blessings"
06/24/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "If you got side effects from Lugol's solution, try iodine painting of the feet. There are several kinds of remedies you could eliminate that cinnamon oil 1-3 drops in one liter of water and shake vigorously it will dissolve. Humic and fulvic acid taken in small amounts will slowly eliminate it. There are others, but since you are heading in right direction, cure is a possibility and definitely a decrease of your symptoms is a certainty.
06/25/2011: Anonymous replies: "Regarding your response and for clarification what condition would the cinnamon oil and Humic and fulvic acid (small doses = what amount?) eliminate? Are these to eliminate spasms or mycoplasma pne?
I feel like I have a friend living in Bangkok, thanks for everything."
06/26/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "At about between 1/10 it will taken one a day or twice before meals fulvic and 1/10 humic acid. It reduces mycoplasma other harmful buildup in the intestines.
07/01/2011: Anonymous replies: "Hello Ted,
I saw the doctor today and he felt that the 288 for the Mycoplasma Pnenemonia Antibody test was from a prior exposure and that no action is necessary now. I felt that this was my only hope for getting a cure of my neck spasms and now feel pretty depressed.
I have been doing the feet painting at night and ordered some Fulvic Acid. Do you think 3 times a week is enough for the feet paining? Without the antibiotics I feel it is like a shot in the dark, and that my efforts with the alternatives may be without attaining the desired affect of ceasing the spasms.
Finding homeopathy help would be too costly for me at this point unless I could do it myself. I will look for some cinnamon oil at the health food store too and add that to my routine.
If you are aware of any online pharmacies that dispense clarithromycin or azithromycin in the quantities I need, I would appreciate the information."
07/01/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "It is actually not possible to check for mycoplasma antibody for the form we are checking but it shows you have some, it could be mycoplasma avium for example, so the numbers will show lower numbers. You can get humic acid from plant nursery and fulvic acid. It has to be taken internally to have any effect, but in small amounts such as 1/10 to 1/8 teaspoon once or twice a day, dissolved in 500 cc of water as your drinking water. It will kill it slowly. The other is cinnamon oil, in drops of water such as 2 drops in a cup of water. Keep doing it. This usually will have some improvement them if taken long enough such as 1 month. There is no medical conventions to actually kill mycoplasma by any antibiotics, but there is some hope in humic acid and fulvic acid as it is one of the few bacteria in general including mycobacterium cannot exist. It is currently a health threat because there is no way to control it by chemical means except coagulation which is not an option if you are trying to kill in your body systems. There are four things I know that works, aloe vera oil, cinnamon oil and humic acid and fulvic acid, but to a certain extent. You can mixed aloe vera oil with cinnamon oil, humic acid and fulvic acid and take them internally. The aloe vera is oil soluble and mycobacterium is oil soluble, so it makes humic acid easier to reach. To keep penetrating powers to go into the mycobacteria for instance we add DMSO.
So I would imagine this:
50/50 Aloe/ DMSO mixture then add humic acid 10% and fulvic acid 10%. The total amount taken say 1 teaspoon.
I probably take that twice to three times a day.
Another broad spectrum antifungal is asafoetidea (devil's dung), if you can find them in Indian shops (small grocery for Indian) they will usually have it, but not pure as the mix with wheat, but it's better then nothing. I probably just add this and take them twice or three times a day.
That's how I deal with a fungal issue internally, it takes time. I know. There is a medicine that can kill this somewhat, it is doxycycline one tablet before sleep but while most wiki claims it doesn't have side effect it does, but it may be awhile for some people, such as 10 days before nausea hits and then you just discountinue. That's just my theories of course.
07/09/2011: Anonymous replies: "Hi Ted,
I've received the Pure Aloe Vera Oil, cinnamon oil, DMSO, Humic Acid - 12% and Fulvic Acid - 10%, DMSO. I've also ordered the asafoetidea.
I think I understand that the Aloe and DMSO should both be of the same ratio to one another but don't know what measurement that would be. Could you explain it?
Also with the given % of the Humic and Fulvic acid I got should I still use an 1/8 tsp of each. And should I add all of the above to two cups of water or just take it straight? If you could clear these details up for my I would appreciate it as I am anxious to get started.and on my way to health.
Thank you for the clarification."
07/12/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Aloe oil is say 25 grams and DMSO is 25 grams, or referred to as Aloe vera oil/DMSO 50/50. That mixture makes the aloe vera penetrating, if a drop or two of cinnamon is added, it somewhat kills the bug, the mycobacterium avium paratuberculosis and other things. What is needed is an alkaline is added to it such as sodium citrate and potassium citrate or sodium carbonate and potassium carbonate, or a simpler (but less effective) baking soda.
Also with the given % of the Humic and Fulvic acid I got should I still use an 1/8 tsp of each. And should I add all of the above to two cups of water or just take it straight?
It's best taken on a minimum first and start with 1/8 even if % humic and % fulvic is low, and we can add more later anyway.. Mixed both in a single cup, such as humic/fulvic/aloe/DMSO before meals or empty stomach. Then after meals 30 minutes or more is to alkalize such as 1/4 teaspoon sodium citrate and 1/8 teaspoon potassum citrate or 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda or 1/4 teaspoon of sodium carbonate and 1/4 teaspoon of potassium carbonate. Also, have magnesium citrate ready and magnesium chloride ready to take too, it helps.
The alkaline remedy works best after dinner, after lunch and before sleep, in morning it is always given after meals, but it sometimes causes some sleepiness, since alkalinity makes one sleepy and acidity makes one awake.
11/16/2011: Paul from Clearwater, Kansas replies: "Where did you ever get the idea that Cervical Dystonia is herpes simplex? I have this malady and I have never heard that from any web siute (Mayo Clinic) nor from my neurologist."
12/31/2011: Robert from Indianapolis, Indiana replies: "You should ask your doctor to prescribe Deplin (L-Methylfolate). It is a very high dose of mostly vitamin b-12. My doctor says it's about 1000 times more than you would purchase over the counter as a supplement. This has practically been a miracle drug for my wife who has suffered from ST for close to 17 years. One tablet affords her 6 hrs. of substantial relief from the spasms/pain. She has tried every treatment under the sun and this has absolutely been the one true godsend. She was taken completely off of her muscle relaxers when prescribed this medication which greatly restored her balance and cognitive abilities. The only problem with this prescription is (my) insurance will not cover it because it is considered a food supplement due to the massive amounts of b-12. Walmart was the cheapest at $100. For a one month supply. Money well spent for the quality of relief my wife receives from this medication."
05/30/2012: Herbert from Mayaguez, Puerto Rico replies: "Hi Robert, what dose of Deplin was your wife prescribed? 7.5 or 15 mg? Thanks."
