[MAYBE]  12/10/2006: Julie from Mackay, Qlad, Australia writes: "I thought I was doing my friend a favour by massaging his back and face with organic cold pressed coconut oil. Two hours his skin was burning. The next morning his face had come up in numerous blisters which took a couple of weeks to heal. Please test for allergic reactions before using."

[MAYBE]  06/24/2006: Kerry from QLD, Australia writes: "I tried coconut oil to kill intestinal parasites but it made me feel ill..I used Parachute 100% coconut oil...Is this Ok to use, it doesn't say whether its virgin or not...Do i persevere when feeling sick? Thanks"

08/27/2008: Shafia from Hyd, India replies: "Hi, I just read that somebody used Parachute coconut oil internally and fell sick. Parachute coconut oil is a well known hair oil brand in India and I am sure it's written somewhere on the pack that it is not meant for internal use. 100% pure doesn't imply virgin oil. I am sure you understod why you fell sick. Its a hair oil."

08/29/2008: Sandy from Bangalore, India replies: "Parachute 100% coconut oil is edible coconut oil. It can be used as food. It says on the pack also in the instructional text that it is 'edible oil'. Its a misconception that Parachute coconut oil is a hair care oil only. I have used Parachute coconut oil on my food for many years, and its safe."

[MAYBE]  03/23/2006: Lizzy from Suffolk, UK writes: "Reading the feedback on nausea following the first few days of the oil was helpful if only i had found it earlier starting slowly is so important as after initial dose of only one dessert spoon i was sick with terrible headaches almost ten minutes after first dose felt sick rest of day. so i am now proceeding with a little caution.... as I don't want to miss out on all the benefits i read about. will update on progress soon."

[YEA]  03/18/2006: J from Knox TN writes: "Coconut oil helps me with digestive problems and sinus issues. I have less upset stomach than before. I would highly recommend that you don't just eat the oil with food... but use it to cook food like veggies or eggs. You will still get the benefits. Think about it. You wouldn't dip into a tub of butter and just eat it... or drink vegetable oil. Treat this the same way... use it in food or to cook food.... you may find that you tolerate it much better this way. Also do not confuse coconut oil with coconut milk or juice... they are three different things."

[YEA]  03/06/2006: Mary from Nevada City writes: "My son and i are both celiac - so we must totally avoid gluten. Even so, we still had lingering health problems. I bought coconut oil and used it as a replacement oil in cooking and baking. (It's great that way) In about three days my son and I both had a herx "die-off reaction" of some sort and then things seemed to go better for us. He really started to look healthy. It was a few years ago - so that it all I recall right now. It took may things to bring our health back. Later, I cut back on coconut oil and I have only recently re introduced it to fight a serious cold in the sinuses and the throat and the lungs. It helped immensely. But i believe it is important to keep other known healthy oil in the diet, too. Olive, fish, etc."

[MAYBE]  02/24/2006: Joanna from Los Angeles writes: "I put a teaspoon of organic virgin coconut oil in my tea after dinner a month or so ago and within 30 minutes I was throwing up! Yuck. Now I can't stand the smell of coconut oil. But I do rub it on my hands every day (and rub in another moisturizer on top of it to mask the smell). I have the softest hands now!"

[YEA]  02/22/2006: Yvonne from Lancaster, PA writes: "I have a question for the people who say that they got a severe upset stomach and/or diarrhea. What type of coconut oil did they eat? I have been using coconut oil in cooking and only use organic Virgin Coconut Oil and my family has never experienced any symptoms like that. I understand there is a huge difference between Virgin Coconut oil and coconut oil."

[MAYBE]  02/11/2006: Kelly from Center Line, MI writes: "Coconut oil also gave me and my mom both major stomach discomfort and diarrhea. We were told it can do that the first few times, but it will quit. I just cut my dose to 1 tsp instead of one tbsp. Starting off real slow, then building up the dose."

[MAYBE]  02/11/2006: Kylie from Melbourne, Australia writes: "I tried Coconut Oil for the first time yesterday. It gave me an upset stomach, and felt quite nauseous. Nibbling on food helped. About 8-10 hrs later I had terrible diarrhea and continued to feel nauseous. I don't know whether this is an initial reaction... and if I try again I will tolerate it better?? Whilst I didn't mind eating it neat yesterday - the thought of eating it again now makes me feel ill. The sad thing is that I am on Thyroxin for an under active thyroid... and really hoped this would help. :("

[MAYBE]  02/10/2006: Lynn from OC writes: "I put a tablespoon of coconut oil in tea after a big meal the other night and got so nauseous after about 15 minutes, I threw up. Later I got diarrhea. I could not stomach the thought of taking it after that so now I bathe in 2 tablespoons. Not sure I am getting the same health benefits as taking it internally, but it sure does soften my skin! I would suggest to others to start with 1/8th teaspoon if they are going to take it internally. 1 teaspoon is probably too much to start. Build up slowly. And don't take it after a big meal!"

SKIN ISSUES

28 YEA    4 NAY    1 WARNING!    1 SIDE EFFECTS

[SIDE EFFECTS]  10/08/2008: Christine from Tokyo, Japan writes: "I have been using organic virgin coconut oil on my face and body for 2 weeks now. It has improved the texture of my skin however I seem to always looked flushed on my face and neck, almost looks like I am sunburnt. I have very fair skin and have been using only a medium coverage amount on my face and neck so that it absorbs almost completly. Has anyone else experienced this and does it calm down? Is it removing the dead skin layers as it seems to look like the effects of a light chemical peel?

Thank you"

[YEA]  09/05/2008: Melanie from Brownsburg, Indiana writes: "i discovered coconut oil about 4 yrs ago and was using it for seborhea, and for dry patches of skin. I rubbed it into my cuticles each night, and on day 6, i realized the wart that had been on my finger for a few years was totally GONE! It had to be the oil, because i was not using a wart remover. Also, i have found that coconut oil helps heal my seborhea patches quickly, whereas medicines did not."

[YEA]  08/13/2008: Ione from Sacramento, CA writes: "According to D'Adamo and the "Eat Right 4 Your Type" diet, just about no one should eat coconut oil. I'm a fan of that diet, but I also know that one size does not fit all. Some of the things ER4YT says I can tolerate, in truth, I cannot (wine, sulfa drugs, etc). As a Type A, non-secretor, it says that I can tolerate coconut milk. But not coconut oil? It doesn't make all that much sense to me. I started taking it for thyroid help, but I love what it has been doing for my skin. I haven't had any side effects so far. I don't understand how anyone can lose weight taking this tho. At 120 calories in 1 tbls, if you take it 4 times a day, you are adding 480 calories."

[YEA]  07/26/2008: Che (serlche(at)yahoo.com.ph) from Roxas City, Philippines writes: "My skin suffered the tear and wear of using numerous brands of different brands of cosmetics til the combination of these different chemicals being used on these cosmetics, resulted to facial skin damages. Wrinkles, and the worst which made me embarrassed everytime when people got surprised to see the black spots on my face which i knew from prolong used of differrent chemicals. I have tried numerous products to get rid of it. Some will give me an effect of two weeks but afterward the damaged on my face becomes worst. My face dont seem to response to any cosmetic, the more cosmetics i used the worst it becomes so, i thought of experimenting on natural remedies.I have started making my own formula when i came across this site which made my research more valid. Every night, as i watched tv i massage VCO on my legs and arms it made my skin so soft @ flawless. When i wear skirt, people thought i have stockings on my legs.

For my face, 3x a week, i combined
1 tsp of molasses or
honey
1/4 tsp of ACV [APPLE CIDER VINEGAR]
1/2 tsp of VCO [VIRGIN COCONUT OIL]
1 tsp of turmeric
1/2 tsp of oats

Make to a paste, splash face with warm water and gently massage the paste on your face. Let it stay 10-20minutes. Rinse it with warm water.

Then i toned my face with ACV, Hydrogen peroxide and water and moisturize my face with alternating VCO and grapeseed oil. Amazing it gradually whitened my face naturally, wrinkles free with less expenses. I am 49 yr old grandma with 3 grandchildren mistaken as more years younger than my age. Thanks to this site, it made me more creative combining the natural resources that are abundant in our country Philippines. By the way, i make my own VCO and sell to my friends also. I use VCO externally and internally as it is the cleanest and the cheapest oil on earth. I enjoy the benefit of a monolaurin found in VCO the same benefit found in a mothers milk. I rarely got sick as VCO is a natural antibiotic, that can get rid of viral @ bacterial lepid coated illnesses. Thanks to this heaven sent site and to the people who openly shares thier beneficial testimonies. God Bless Us All as we continue to spread and share the good news. Email me @ let me know how this works with you."

[YEA]  06/13/2008: Lazaro (c725_6508@yahoo.com) from Laredo, Texas, US writes: "I have been using coconut oil for about an year now, and I love it! I rarely drink it, however, I use it as a lotion instead of the store brand. My skin looks and feels great. Since it is a bit oily, I started to put it on my face. Mostly around my eyes and forehead. My younger sister commented once that I don't have any wrinkles and she has. She wanted to know my secret. I told her of course. I further told her that if you cannot drink the store brand lotions, why is she putting it on her skin? Coconut oil can be eaten. I also use it to moisten my lips. And on a couple occasions for hemorrodes- I know I misspelled that."

[WARNING!]  04/06/2008: Lindsey F from Dover, NH writes: "I have been using coconut oil as a moisturizer for about a year now.

I read on numerous internet sites and blogs about how it was a miracle product for all kinds of skin ailments including acne.

So I started using on my face and body--it has been a great replacement for body lotion, and has mildly improved the keritosis pilaris on my upper arms, but using it on my face was a BIG mistake! I am still suffering from the consequences (pimples all over, including places where I had NEVER had them before). I have since learned that people with small pores, like me, should not use thick natural oils on the face, because the molecules are too large. People with larger pores (darker skin usually) can benefit from it, but it can really clog up people will small pores! Jojoba and tea tree oils are the only oils suitable for my delicate face.

Just want to warn others!"

[YEA]  04/03/2008: Toni from Las Vegas, NV writes: "To those of you who have had problems with using coconut oil on the face resulting in breakouts, redness, whiteheads etc. If you wish to try Coconut oil on the face use only a very, very thin layer. I'm talking a teeny, tiny amount. You could also try coconut soap instead to clean the face. There are many good natural brands online from which to choose."

[YEA]  04/02/2008: Russell (essah@mail.com) from Toronto, Canada writes: "Used many oils including virgin coconut oil in many of my skin care cosmetic formulations. But thats history. My problem has always been cystic acne. In my late forties and it is without a doubt extrmely debilitating. Large cysts would form on my face and it would take weeks for them to subside leaving a purple mark for many months. After My business mail order business went down the toilet due to 9/11. Nobody trusted the mail. I realized I had a klo of virgin coconut oil left in my refridgerater. Literally stumbled on the idea that VCO would help acne. Skeptical about putting straight oil on oily acne skin. I gave it a shot because one of my best sellers of my cosmetic formulations was an oil based, black head removal cream containg organic jojoba oil, actually it is a remarkable oil for rducing large pores. Bottom line is that cysts or leasins would be reduced within 48 to 72 hours. I was stunned to say the least. For two years I have had almost totaly relief from a lifetime problem. I have just started taking it internally since I realized I have had candida, probably for 35 plus years because of the massive amounts of tetracycline, minocin etc. (unconscionably destructive acne anitibiotics) It truly does smooth and soften the skin. My face looks like the moon, from acne scarring, although my wife says I exaggerate but It makes me look younger for sure and for certain. Don't use refined or fractionated coconut oil on your face it must be unrefined virgin oil. It really is miraculous. Cheers all."

[YEA]  03/10/2008: John Smith (shanetyrone2@yahoo.com) from Battle Creek, Michigan writes: "I see a lot of people still preaching sun avoidance. If you will only think about it, you will realize nothing could be more unnatural than avoiding the sun. The most important thing is to moisturize with a good plant based oil. I use EVOO, and though it takes considerably longer than more popular oils to absorb, once absorbed it does a much better job healing. Conventional wisdom says there is no such thing as a protective base tan. Reality shows there is.You do need to build up slowly, but a half hour a day of full body exposure is really quite minimal, and will pay benefits in terms of natural Vitamin D production. Don't hide from the sun, you will make yourself sick. Use moderation, and moisturize, and you will be much happier and healthier."

[YEA]  03/08/2008: Jennifer (jrr31576@hotmail.com) from Mesquite, Texas writes: "I LOVE virgin unrefined coconut oil as a daily moisturizer! I can see a huge difference in my skin on my face as well as everywhere else on my body. Here's a great place to find it cheap, and yes, it is virgin unrefined organic. Soaperschoice.com. You have to buy 7 lbs at a at a time, but it costs only $3.88 a pound! I use it for cooking and find it to be a wonderful taste in vegetables! Even my kids like it!. It clears up acne, diaper rash, and dandruf. Here's my natural beauty regimine: My face and body wash is a natural coconut oil based castile soap mixed with baking soda as a natural exfolient. The soap I use is planet brand dish soap. Innexpensive and completely natural ans safe for the environment. I also use the soap as a shampoo. (They have a great website. Go visit it.) I use hydrogen peroxide 3% as a facial toner. then I use the Coconut oil as my daily moisturizer for face and body. I use only a light dusting of mineral makeup, if any at all. I brush my teeth with hydrogen peroxide 3% and a baking soda sea salt mix. This has been the best stuff for my teeth I've ever used! My teeth feel increadibly clean My complexion has improved 100% since using the oil. I have had roseca type spots on my cheeks which have greatly diminished over the past 2 weeks since I started using the oil. I can see fine lines on my face disappearing! I usually only wash my face in the morning then apply the oil. At night, I just put more oil all over my face before going to bed. My skin is naturally normal-dry, so this might be too much for someone with oily complexion. Experiment for yourself. Remember, anytime you need natural products like this, dont pay retail. There are plenty of candle and soap supply places that carry this stuff in bulk for great prices, and are available to the public....including essential oils. Do your homework and start making your own natural homemade beauty products! There are thousands of recipes all over the web. It's not hard. Thanks to earthclinic for being here on the web and for everyone who posts their stories! God bless each one of you, and feel free to email me with any questions."

[YEA]  01/23/2008: Amelia from Adelaide, Australia writes: "Hi, i was on the phone to my mother last night and she has always been one to test and try every anti-aging, wrinkle reducing cream on the planet and never had any success. However when calling me up she kept ranting on about this miracle coconut oil and how she read about it in one of her anti-ageing books. She remarked that while she was watching tv my younger sister kept looking over at her, but my mum just ignored this, then she noticed that my sister was staring at her the next day. Eventually my sister asked "what are you using on your face?" to which my mum replied "nothing..." My sister then asked well have you got makeup or bronzer on..and again mum said "no". She told my sister that she had been swallowing 3 teaspoons a day of organic coconut oil. My sister couldnt stop remarking how young my mum looked, with all her wrinkles reduced by over 50%. Well now my sister who is only 16 is addicted to the stuff. Coconut oil really is a mircale."
