[YEA] 09/18/2007: Liz from Nairobi, Kenya writes: "My 8 month old son has had eczema since he was four months old. I have tried many prescription creams that did not seem to work or worked for only a few days. A friend asked me to try coconut oil. Its worked miracles. I got results in a day. There was no itching and the dry patches were gone. I now make sure to keep a bottle in the house all the time. I have also noticed that water and soap worsen eczema, so when he has it, I avoid them on the patches and use the oil instead."

[YEA] 05/19/2007: Janet from Morayfield, Queensland writes: "I have suffered from skin ailments all my life. I had heard about coconut oil but it seemed too simple an idea to really work, and I had tried every remedy, scientific and natural, under the sun and nothing ever worked. So after reading all the latest hype about coconut oil I decided "why not?' Well, sometimes I wish wasn't such a sceptic and then I might have tried it years ago. How it works I don't know but after less than a week of applying it twice a day my rash had cleared up, the redness and itching was gone, and has stayed gone despite the fact that I have stopped using my usual prescription anti-inflammatory cream. The kind I use is the extra virgin pure coconut oil made without chemical processes. I'm now taking it orally too."

[YEA] 03/29/2007: Marietta from Montpelier, Vermont writes: "Virgin Coconut Oil: My teenage son had raw, red and cracked skin where the ear meets the head. I remembered reading somewhere that VCO cures eczema, so I spread some on the backs of his ears after he showered. Amazingly, the very next day (after only ONE application) they were completely healed; no raw, red, no cracks! We also eat it often, on popcorn, straight off the spoon and in stir-fries. Yum!!!"

[YEA] 08/04/2006: Jay from Chicago, IL writes: "1 TBS daily of oral supplementation has helped by facial eczema and atopic dermatitis. I have become immediately convinced that Coconut oil is nothing short of a miracle remedy for the skin and immune system. I was suffering from weekly eczema outbreaks on the face, and within 4 days of using 3 tablespoons daily and dabbing it with vitamin E oil, I noticed an almost immediate improvement. The itching and redness stopped, and the inflammation was way down. I would strongly urge ANYONE who suffers from this condition to try it, because in my opinion, there is nothing else like it on the planet."

[YEA] 03/01/2006: Bonnie writes: "It is the only thing that gets rid of my daughter's eczema and mine. In fact mine was really bad when I was pregnant and it was the only relief I found. I used to take primrose oil internally -- that really helped, but it never offered any immediate relief. When she was about 2 months she got a bad flare up on her forehead and it cleared it within days. As a side note lice was going around the school and my boys came home with it. She never got it (I think it was the smell of coconut oil) & they always put their hats on her head."

[YEA] 02/29/2008: Gislain from Phoenix, AZ writes: "I've had Coconut Oil sitting around my house and only used it for cooking. I heard it was a great alternative to Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils. But since reading about the health benefits from Coconut Oil on this website, I thought it would be good to try for my depression and lack of energy I feel mainly in the mornings. Sometimes, I just cannot move or do anything! I ate a tablespoon and managed not to gag from the texture or lack of taste. Within a HALF-HOUR, I went from not wanting to be around and lethargic to INSTANT ENERGY! I was doing chores, showering, moving about and realizing that the Coconut Oil helped me start my day. It felt like I drank two cups of coffee! Throughout the day, my heart was beating pretty heavy so I will try taking half a tablespoon in the upcoming days. This is a WONDER FOOD!"
[SIDE EFFECTS] 03/08/2008: Gislain from Phoenix, AZ replies: "I recently posted a comment about Coconut Oil and how eating a tablespoon each day helped my Depression. After two days of taking Coconut Oil internally, I developed a terrible case of Heartburn. I felt better emotionally but physically, my chest was painful and the heartburn lasted all day and night. I thought eating too fast was the culprit initially. I was suffering with this Heartburn for an entire week. I wondered if the heavy saturated fat content of the Coconut Oil was making my body react this way.Today, I didn't eat any Coconut Oil and my symptoms reduced by over 50%. I love the Oil Pulling, Apple Cider Vinegar, and everything else listed on this site. Unfortunately, eating Coconut Oil didn't work out for me apparently. I do plan on using Coconut Oil externally on my skin."
07/22/2008: Bravestar from Columbia, MD replies: "If you can't take it by mouth, then try look up gnc or health or vitamin shoppe or internet store to find coconut oil in capsules or table to take oral try that if it help hmm. It's help me well since, I can't take it straight to my mouth, capsules helped for me."
07/24/2008: Joye from Brandon, Manitoba, Canada replies: "Hi. You were saying you were taking 1 tbsp of oil a day. I find when we start something new you need to start off small. May be try taking a 1/2 of tsp of oil for a week or so then a 1tsp and so on. Your body is probaly saying it is too much all at once. Try it. I liquidfied my oil and use it in my oatmeal and salads, it is awesome."
02/11/2009: Kelly from Augusta, Maine replies: "I had to start even smaller using 1/4 a tsp mixed with 2 tsps of peanutbutter. I then put this mixture on toast twice a day and build up gradually. I am also drinking 4 tbsp a day of apple cider vinegar with 100% fruit juice (I started this regimine first and then later added the virgin coconut oil into my morning and evening routine.) My skin is clearer than it has been for years, I have so much more energy and my depression seems like a distant memory although I am aware of it when under a lot of stress. Also, I am sleeping all through the night! I used to toss and turn all night long and now I wake up refreshed from a long night's sleep."
02/11/2009: T from Maryland, USA replies: "I downed a spoonful of virgin coconut oil (VCO) the other day and had the heart pounding problem that evening. That was the first time I'd taken it straight up. The earlier times I had ingested it, it was by spreading it on bread that was nearly toasted, letting it absorb a bit, then popping it back in for a moment to fully toast, in effect "cooking" the oil on the toast. I had read (possibly here?) that VCO in a cooked form is easier for the body to take. When I have eaten it this way, it never gave me problems. Might be worth looking into if working up from a smaller amount doesn't seem to be effective in preventing problems. It's tasty on toast anyway, especially with jelly/jam on top :-)"

[YEA] 03/29/2007: Cathy from Anderson, Missouri writes: "About a week ago, I began taking about three tablespoons of EVCO daily and am already starting to feel like I have more energy. For breakfast, I make a packet of low sugar brown sugar flavored instant oatmeal. After it has been nuked in the microwave, I add 2 Tablespoons of EVCO, some extra oat bran and a tablespoon of ground flax seed. Sometimes, I also add a little Splenda. This is a great and tasty way to get your EVCO daily. I'm also hoping that the EVCO will help me lose weight, but I haven't taken it long enough yet."

[YEA] 02/08/2007: Nicola from Basingstoke, UK writes: "I started using coconut oil 5 days ago - because I heard that it helps you to lose weight. I've not really tracked my weight so far, but I can say, hand on heart, that I have suddenly found a load more energy from somewhere. My 3 year old still wakes me up through the night and some evenings it was as much as I could do to just sit in the chair watching TV or playing with my computer. I now feel energized enough to WANT to wash up etc.. I have noticed that I need to use the bathroom a lot more (maybe having 4-6 number "2s" during the day - which is highly unusual as normally it's 1-2 every other day) -and I've developed an incredible wind problem in the evening. I normally take 1 tablespoon first thing in the morning with my smoothie and it instantly wakes me up. Tonight for the first time I've taken another tablespoon so I'll see how I get on. Can't say I like the taste of it straight out of the jar - it made me feel sick the first day - but can't taste it in the smoothies. I used Holland & Barratt - which costs. c£9.95 but have no idea if its cold pressed/virgin etc.."

[YEA] 05/27/2006: Teri-Lee from TX writes: "I cannot believe how much energy I have! I put 2 Tbsp. in a blender with a 1/2 cup of milk and a banana and mix it up. I don't even taste the oil. I have learned to heat the oil for about 10 seconds in the microwave and then add it to the mixture in the blender because if the oil is a solid you can get chunks."
09/11/2008: Heather from Mundelein, IL replies: "In response to Teri-Lee from TX...I would not heat the coconut oil in the microwave before blending it! Microwaving any food changes its composition and destroys the healthy enzymes in the oil. Your shake sounds like a good idea, just skip the microwaving part."

11/19/2008: Marion from Riverside, Ca writes: "I was on a quest to find Organic Virgin Coconut Oil. So many people from this site rave about EVCO so it led me to do my own research about the benefits and truth of EVCO. It turns out that EVCO is the best oil on Earth! Not only good internally but also topically. Just good over all healthy for your body head to toe, inside and out. So of course I HAD TO HAVE IT! After searching in every grocery store and having no luck I decided to take the long drive to our Health food store.."Trader Joe's". Was totally dissapointed to find that there was none there either. Maybe it was out of stock? The trip wasn't a total waste because I picked up a bottle of Tea Tree oil for 6 bucks which is normally $13 in drug stores. I also bought some Organic Apple Cider Vinegar there too which I hear is very good. So I guess there is not a market for Coconut Oil in California?? I guess the brain washing and false information has really worked on us Americans. What a shame! So my last stop was Walmart. I have heard that Walmart carries the low quality Coconut oil made from dried COPRA. So I wasn't too optimistic since I was only going to purchase the high quality EVCO even if it meant I had to buy online. They had the cheap stuff but I FOUND USDA EVCO there!! Yay! I'm so happy = )~ Nutiva is the brand and can be bought online as well. For 29 oz. it was $19.99 pricey I know. But well worth it since I love it on my skin and cooking with it! I guess after my long story the point is never give up in your quest for ultimate health. Cheers to good health and many blessings!"
11/20/2008: Vivienne from Paia, HI replies: "I think various WallMarts carry different items, our local one carries Virgin coconut oil in the vitamin aisle. It's by the vitamin company "Rexall", I cannot remember the size, but it was about $10.00. They also carry Tea Tree Oil, which I bought - 50ml for $5.00."

06/04/2007: Allison from New York, NY writes: "I just wanted to clear something up about Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. There is no such thing as "Extra Virgin" there is only "Virgin." This term has just been picked up from olive oil and used by marketers to market their product and try to convince people that their product is better than Virgin Coconut Oil. This is not true. So don't be fooled when a company says that it is "Extra Virgin Coconut Oil" it is still just Virgin Coconut oil."
06/16/2009: Karmala from Templeton, CA replies: "on the contrary... there is a difference.. just as in olive oil... it has to do with the length of time from harvest to jar... "

02/25/2007: Pam from Santa Barbara, CA writes: "For people who are not sure if they are using Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. If it doesn't say that on the jar then it's not that. It is much more expensive to make and they will always label it that way. I have been taking coconut cream instead because I love it so much. I found the oil hard to take and there is plenty of fat in the cream to do the job. Pam"
04/28/2009: Karina from Munich, Bavaria/Germany replies: "QUESTION: So far I found VCO which is pure white. Another product I found is Red Palm Oil. Does this have the same properties as VCO or is Palm oil completely different? For now I stay with VCO but I was simply curious on the jarr of the red palm oil it said it has even more natural vitamin E - which is something I was looking for."

[NAY] 01/16/2008: RP from Chicago, IL writes: "Nay for coconut oil for the face. I have read coconut oil was good for dark circles and rashes. I have really sensitive skin. I applied virgin coconut oil to my skin and instead developed a terrible rash. It's a shame because I love the smell. I instead use vaseline as a moisturizer, especially for a rash. I apply it in the shower and sleep with it on."
05/13/2008: Kathleen from Rice Lake, WI replies: "re: Coconut Oil side effects: The rash is a good thing! It means all the toxins from your body are leaving and this creates the rash! It will go away with regular use :)"
06/22/2008: Lulu from Mpls, MN replies: "I agree on the rash being a cleanse rather than a reaction. I started using VCO on my skin a few weeks ago and I love the way my skin feels from it but at first I did have some flare ups of stuff that I thought were old and healed issues. Now after sticking to it things have gotten wonderful. If you try again to use VCO then just reassure yourself it is temporary healing. I think they call it re-tracing."
02/05/2009: Heather from WallaWalla, WA replies: "I think vaseline is a horrible toxin!!! It is petroleum based which is poison to your system and has to be removed by your body as such. Do not put petrol on your skin and keep using the coconut oil, the cleanse will complete and the rash will go away!! Vaseline is good as a firestarter if you are stuck during the winter in the woods....keep it in your car!"
02/06/2009: Dianna from Austin, Tx replies: "i can't actually believe that anyone would put vaseline on their face - but i have heard of it a lot lately. it is a by-product of the petroleum industry. besides probably being toxic going through your skin into your blood stream - it also clogs your pores so your skin cannot breathe. it may seem to work at first - but what you are actually doing is sealing your skin closed. if you put water on your skin and then seal it closed that may help with hydrating your skin with it - but i would advise against it. google vaseline and see what you think....
you may try using olive oil instead of VCO. just make sure before you use any oil on your face that your face is damp. the oils do not moisturize on their own - they seal in water. djh"
02/07/2009: Joy from Solana Beach, CA replies: "My late mother used to use vaseline all the time to moisturize her face and hands...and she had a lot of health problems. So this was just one more toxic thing...and she was not aware at the time that it was toxic."
[YEA] 11/09/2009: Kai from San Francisco, California replies: "I have sensitive skin and I love Coconut Oil! I started using it two weeks ago and my skin looks so much younger, toned and soft! I am not going to buy face creams anymore!!"

[YEA] 10/06/2007: Julie from Newcastle, NSW Australia writes: "I have been using coconut oil for some time now, taking it orally and cooking with it. Has anyone noticed how using coconut oil in a well used baking pan for the first time, strips the pan clean of old baked on oil residue. So much so that after baking with it, the pan will rust if you do not keep oiling it. Does this support the claim that coconut oil will cleanse your clogged arteries? Can anyone tell me how much oil you can make from 1 coconut please"

[YEA] 08/27/2007: Tony from Quezon City, Philippines writes: "I used to be a regular sufferer of flu. About 3 years ago, after reading in a book that coconut oil can kill the influenza virus that causes flu based on in-vitro studies, I took 4 tablespoon of Virgin Coconut Oil when I had flu, went to sleep and woke up after about 6 hours later and found my flu amazingly gone. Since then, I take at least 1 tablespoon of Virgin Coconut Oil everyday, and when I feel an onset of flu, I increase the intake up to 4 tablespoon and predictably the flu would not continue."
10/19/2009: Atlantis from Spokane, Wa replies: "What are some ways to take 3-4 TBS a day of coconut oil? I got some and it is just soooo not easy to take that much. The taste is not bad, it just tastes like coconut. I think it is the oily, buttery, overload, texture. Mix it in a drink? Thanks"

10/21/2009: Anon from Brazil replies: "I agree, its not easy to take. I don't like to cook with it either.
But I found the best way! I take it with my tea! I just make some green tea (or whatever you like), sweeten it with molasses, and put a table spoon of virgin coconut oil. Perfect combination!
Now I keep my VCO in the fridge to keep it in solid state because it's easy for me to just go take a scoop of it.
Good luck!"

I just couldn't get the fungus to go away!!! Then my life was changed by this site! I started taking ACV (Apple Cider Vineger) and VCO and I am now fungus free! I was taking the coconut oil orally ( 3 t. a day) and it made me bloated so I didn't take it for more than a month I'd say... However, I did use it as a moisterizer every night after my shower and I would specifically rub it around and under my toe nails... I cannot believe that the fungus is gone!!! Honestly! I share my story every where I go! Nail shops really need this information to pass onto their clients... Fungus makes you feel so dirty... My beautiful toe's have returned! Thank you! [YEA] 08/17/2006: Annabelle from Victoria, Australia writes: "I had toenail fungus for 5yrs. started using virgin coconut oil applied topically with amazing results. Used loceryl lacquer for 3yrs did not get rid of it. Used some oxygenated melaluca cream which helped & may have cured it but smelled so bad it really wasn't practical. I read about coconut oil on internet & gave it a go, i didn't think it would seriously work. I massaged it into top of nail & all around it & made sure it was under toenail which was easy as it is liquid (hardens in cold weather but melts on contact with skin). Now 1 big toenail totally cured, other toenail is almost gone but it was much worse and was first to be infected. Absolutely amazing and i don't even apply it everyday!!! Doesn't smell. I rub it into all my other toenails (hoping this will prevent them from getting it in them). I bought a brand from my local health food shop and made sure it was 100% virgin and this one was cold pressed-don't know if that means anything but i'm sure other brands would work, I am just thrilled with results and grateful that i gave it a go."

[YEA] 04/30/2007: Mike from San Francisco, CA writes: "After extensive research on the web when I discovered I had genital warts I decided to give coconut oil a chance. I couldn't bare the thought of going to a doctor and asking them to look at a growth on my butt, worse, there were some just inside my colon (which is typical with genital warts on the anus). After 6 weeks of 2xdaily enemas and massaging in a tablespoon of coconut oil over the warts... they are completely gone. A lot of information on the web says genital warts don't go away without serious treatment (burning off, laser, freezing, etc). I am a believer in coconut oil. It worked on me. It also made my skin glow and feel baby soft. I found myself caressing my skin, amazed at the pleasant silky feeling. Rubbing it in my hair made it super shiney and healthy. I want to fill my hot tub with coconut oil and marinate in it for days."

At the next blood test in 4 months my thyroid function was "excellent" and to top it off my cholesterol had dropped the bad level and raised the good level. The docotor was pleased.
