07/30/2009: EmeraldHope from Buffalo, NY replies: "Hi Ms. Sweetie, To correct the constipation problem I add a small packet of powdered fiber. It totally disolves and has no taste. Just make sure to drink plenty of water. I loved the recommendation someone on this board gave about using a large bottle of water, adding the ACV, any flavoring (I use a very small amount of juice) and now 1 packet of fiber. According to the fiber directions you can use up to three packets a day but I find there is no need to use that much. Some of the new fiber products are flavored and a friend told me it's just enough flavor. Just sip from the bottle all day long. I also put ACV in V8 juice, once a day. LOVE IT!!! BP came way down, skin is healing and I have amazing energy. Thanks everyone for your help on this board!"

Another older woman in her 80's also used this drink.They all lived a long and full lifes.

A mix of equal parts: honey (raw, unfiltered best except for babies), organic apple cider vinegar, and filtered water. Several TBL's can be added to a 8 oz. glass of water and taken twice a day or more often for illness or UTI. The honey makes the ACV much more palatable and adds needed nutrients and electolytes. This is also good for upset stomachs or nausea, sipping small sips as able."

I was home visiting my folks for Thanksgiving and was eating lots of bread, butter and sugary foods.. items I try not to eat to much of. Knowing that I gain a pound for every slice of bread I eat, I made sure to drink 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a small glass of water every night after eating like a piggy. Sooooo nasty tasting!! But guess what, I didn't gain a pound!

Yesterday back in town I saw a friend, a personal trainer who I had talked into taking apple cider vinegar for his high blood pressure (young guy, but hpb runs in his family) 2 weeks ago. He looked great before, but now -- WOO WOO!!! He had this amazing glow that would make your head turn. I made a comment to him about it and he said that last Tuesday he woke up one morning after taking 2 glasses of 2 teaspoons of acv in water the night before and felt ready to take on the world. Two different clients commented to him that he was glowing and what was going on with him, was it love? He said No! Apple Cider Vinegar!

Like I said, this remedy ROCKS!!!"

I know that it makes the body more alkaline as it should be, but it also abates inflammation in the body. For years I have had joint pains on and off (sickle cell trait), and last sunday had a flare up. During the night it was difficult for me to move in the bed because of my left knee. In the morning when I got up to get ready for church, I had about 3 tablespoons of ACV in a glass of water, just before I went and took a shower. By the time I left for church my knee pain was gone. This stuff is great. My dad was also complaining of back and knee pains and I told him to start drinking ACV daily- he no longers complains. I have been using ACV and 3% percent peroxide (50/50)with occasional tea tree oil for a fungus of my big toe nail- it is clearing up nicely. Thanks earth clinic."

My mother always told a story of how in the thirties, my uncle was a little boy and desperately ill. The doctors could not figure out what was wrong or how to help him and finally told my grandparents to prepare for the worst. Apparently all he kept asking for was vinegar (my mom never specified if it was ACV) and when things looked really bleak, they decided to let him have it since he never stopped asking for it and since there was no real reason to deny him, however bizarre it seemed to give it to him. He apparently struggled to drink it, but got through a whole bottle in a few hours despite his weakness. The fever suddenly broke and he fully recovered, and to this day no one in my family really understood how. Now I'm getting a clue as to why! So, I thought I would try the honey/water/AVC drink three times a day- today is day 5 and while I didn't see any real weight loss until today, today my jeans are suddenly loose! Also been using it as a toner and guess what! No trip to the dermo like I planned because my pores are getting smaller on their own! Depression doing a lot better too - though the jury is still out on that since today I was a bit down after a few up days - will check back in and let everyone know- but WOW! I'm amazed! My little uncle was really on to something, clearly!"

In April of 2005, I came across a booklet for ACV, at the time I was 50 years old I played sports in high school, a construction worker for 20 years and a mover for the last 15, so I have done a number on my body over the years. My daughter convinced me to start taking ACV... I have taken it everyday since! The health benefits have been many. The first thing I noticed was my hair and nail growth, doesn't seem like much but my hair was white and had no color, but was growing back in blonde! I thought that was amazing! Over all the years of abuse on my feet and ankles I had purple feet from the varicose veins, it really was a severe case, after two months of use my feet started to look clearer to me, but I wasn't sure so I started taking pictures....I now have NO varicose veins on my feet, legs or anything. In April of 2005 I was a size 38 pants, today I am a 32 pants. I have not done any extra exercise to achieve this, It simply melted the pounds away (I also have a six pack again). The ACV has given me a facelift, I do NOT look like I am 51! My wrinkles around my eyes have literally disappeared. My skin is tighter, firmer every where. I feel like a new man. Over the years while abusing my body in my everyday life (working) I developed new and painful body movements, aches where I never had before and eventually the Doc diagnosed me with tendonitis (really painful) in both of my shoulders, being a mover this isn't good for business, it really started hurting my paycheck (then I started the ACV). I really had not realized I stopped taking the naproxen the Dr. had prescribed until I went to see him for my physical. He asked me if I needed a new script, that's when I realized I used to live on those pills everyday and hadn't needed them once since I started taking the ACV, so I told the Dr. about the ACV he was awed, seeing the results for himself he decided to start taking it, in fact my Barber, Boss, Coworkers, Kids, Brothers and sister all now take it with health benefits of there own. I tell you I LOVE ACV it has changed my life and made me a new healthier man. I actually believe I have a long healthy life ahead. The recipe I use everyday is: 2 table spoons of ACV and 1 Tablespoon of honey. Add water to taste. I do this two times a day, everyday. Good luck to all in your journey to a healthier you!"

Now I have been on it for about 2 weeks now (morning and nite) and havent seen any results , still have this pain in my right arm and havent seen my hair grow or my nails. This is what I want the most as my hair is very fine and never actually looks nice.

I used to use foligro long time ago, when you could buy the kit with the spray in it, today however you have to buy it seperately (money racket of course) and it costs about 100 or so a month. (cant afford it now) it did work it made my hair more curly and thickeer just a bit but after about 1 yr. Now of course its back to the same. So how long before this Acv remedy should start to work.

Research Rosemary online and find out all the benefits to it. I am switching from store bought shampoos to homemade baking soda and ACV and will be using the Rosemary oils for my hair. I have dark hair and natural body/curls so I am a little nervous. But I have read a couple of people who have the same type and have had no problem."


02/27/2009: Robert from Manhattan, New York replies: "yes, I've heard that Rosemary was as good as some of the topical drugs prescribed for hair loss.. also GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) in the form of black currant oil or evening primrose oil can help the skin & hair. Take 500 mg of either twice a day. but be patient. You won't see results for six to eight weeks."

[YEA]  01/04/2009: Tess from Palm Beach, FL writes: "After 2 weeks of being a blob during the holidays: eating more than usual, not drinking my 2 apple cider vinegar & water glasses every day, and not exercising my usual 1 hour at the gym(hard cardio, light weights, core training), I can tell I have aged!! I can't believe it only took 2 weeks! The first week was okay, but I started to look more and more out of shape and yucky by the 2nd week. I did get out and walk every day, but it wasn't enough cardio I guess. My husband kept asking me if I was about to get my period because I looked so tired! My skin lost its healthy glow and the lines in my face deepened. I guess this was a good thing -- it tells me that the combination of exercise and apple cider vinegar helps me look a lot younger than my 45 years. If I had to give one up it would be the apple cider vinegar, but in conjunction with lots of exercise, it really packs a powerful anti aging punch. I am going to work on more raw food in my diet in 2009 and see what kind of a difference that makes.

03/06/2009: Karen from Lawrenceburg, Ky replies: "Just a reply for Tess in Florida: You said if you had to give up one excercise or ACV it'd be ACV. Just wanted to know why. I would personally think that the ACV would give your body the power to move toxins through your body when you are excercising, making really an important aid to the excercise. Also, without the nutrients from the ACV (so powerful) it'd be much harder to excercise. In general the ACV just seems to give you the benefits that seems like is coming from the excercise (which I am not knocking the excercise at all, it does major healing). People always thought my father was our brother because he was blessed with great genetics, looking 10 - 15 years younger than his age and for many years I was the same.

However, when I turned 50, all sorts of aging began to happen. Menopause brought 30 lbs of extra weight, dry, flaky rashy skin, under-active thyroid and bloated stomach, itchy-smelly-flaky scalp, weak tearing nails, diabetes, tinitis, skin rashes, weeping eyes, joint pain, gingivitis with 2 deep gum pockets, hair falling out and not growing, losing hair and eyebrows, lethargy, moodiness, unexplained anger, dark eye circles, insomnia, night sweats, smelly body and breath and the list goes on... Needless to say people were calling me MAAAM and treating me like I was an unattractive old lady. I'm not so vain that I want to be noticed all the time but I certainly did not want to be ignored. Looking for natural skin cleansing remedies, I found your site. Whoa, what a FIND. I have stayed up late almost every night just reading all the testimonials. I have so far tried: VCO, Oil Pulling, and ACV. The results are fantastic: Silky skin, stronger teeth, hair, nails. No joint pain, lessening of tinnitis, no skin rashes, increased energy, body and breath smells great, blood suger stabilizing, losing goiter/thyroid neck, stomach is going down (my husband says), dark spots and eye circles gone, no mood swings, feel happier, lost 3 pounds, teeth whiter and firmer with pink gums (still working on the 2 pockets), scalp itch is receding and my skin looks AMAZINGLY young!--- all of this has happened within these first 10 days! I asked my husband to check out my skin because he knows I constantly battle face rashes and he said, "It looks wonderful with that makeup you have on". I was not wearing any! And guess what? I feel attractive, never mind what others feel, I'm not ignoring ME! 10 days I tell you!

Even as things are getting better, my eyes still weeped and were glazy and itched like the dickins, I didn't want to put anything on them except eye drops which only brought relief for about 30 minutes. So, today I applied ACV onto a cotton ball and lightly swiped my closed eyelids. OH MY GOD! Instant relief! I could even see better; things were not so fuzzy and the constant redness started disappearing; so, this is a work in progress.

Here's what I do internally: I oil-pull 10-15 minutes every morning and evening. I drink 2 TABLSP of ACV in a mug (8oz) of water morning and evening (thru a straw). Around noon, when my energy usually lags, I take 1 tablspoon of VCO. Interestingly, it cuts my appetite and I find myself eating out of habit, not hunger.

Here's what I do externally: After shower, I spray ACV and water onto my skin, let dry, then apply coconut oil lightly all over, then use a light cologne. I apply ACV with a cotton ball onto my face, let it dry, then dab and rub VCO with water on it. I wear no makeup except filling in my eyebrows (until they grow back), and apply lipstick on top of VCO. Each morning I wake up expecting to see a change-back and I don't. Thanks a whole bunch!"

[YEA]  08/23/2008: Samantha from NY, NY replies: "Great to see that this remedy is also working for someone else. I have no ailments - only sickness is getting a cold every so often. I cannot really remember when I discovered this site but I guess it was around February. I have been consistently trying all kinds of things - which have worked for me. The ones that have obviously worked are: using baking soda as a deodorant and using VCO and ACV on my skin. Like Caitlin from Austin - I fist use ACV (on my face and all over my body) allow it to dry then apply VCO. I often do this combination at nights because in the morning I am in a hurry. However, I always use VCO. It is the only thing I use on my skin which is now baby soft. My face always looked young but as I am 41 - I figure maintainance is always good. Now the pores on my face are even tighter and still getting better.

I have been drinking ACV with baking soda (not consistently) and sometimes taking molasses. I do not eat processed foods, drink milk or eat soya. I have lost about 10llbs but I am not sure if I can totally attribute the weight loss to this drink. Anyway, I plan to try Earth Clinic's simplified recipe as I have to loose another 10llbs. Therefore, I will also start ingesting VCO. In general I feel great and I am really thankful to this webiste. I am addicted and visit it everyday - never know what I can learn or share with others."

[YEA]  05/02/2009: Caitlin from Austin, TX replies: "I was once vegetarian for about a year but had to quit because I was always dizzy, lethargic, and moody. My hair began thinning at that time, too. Turns out I have low iron assimilation as well as Nut, milk, gluten/protein intolerances. Ion pills gave me migraines. I had these problems as a baby; mom, bless her heart, didn't know this as she happily bottle-fed an immature, colicky gut and fed me regular food too early. I made sure my daughter was breastfed and that her first meals were not grain or cow's milk based. Warm stewed apples with a dash of cinnamon is a great dish to start a breast-feeding young one on. Now, she does not have the stomach problems that I have. She simply glows and she does still avoid excess milk and wheat. She mostly eats and makes chi/thai food.

You are right about a raw food diet; it does work! I did this for a week many years ago and I looked incredibly younger, seeing a difference after only 4 days. People thought I was my husband's daughter. But, it was soooo hard to maintain alone and with my low iron problems. My body craves a little protein and feels great when it gets it without grains or milk, my nemeses.

Interestingly, I once did a 30 day fresh carrot and veggie juice fast before a birthday; it was enlightening. I had to take an enema every other day as the bowel system functions less during this time. After the 3rd day I was not hungry and became committed to the full 30 days. BUT, around the 21st day - OH MY GOODNESS - I had an overwhelming desire to hit the toilet and the black tar that came out of ME for 20 straight minutes was astounding. I had NO idea how clogged and rimmed my colon had become with years of viscous, putrid, tarry offal. It wasn't pretty and it smell to high heaven; my husband opened all the windows. Afterwards, I had this overwhelming sense of spiritual lightness and a desire to finally eat. Elated, I goofed and ate pizza! Go Figure an Idiot! That cleansing experience was a wake up call that I ignored. So now, with diabetes dogging me I am committed to getting this body to a place it has always wanted to be. I totally get it that on this planet it is the ONLY thing that is truly MINE. It is the temple that houses ME and I've kept it very unclean and I reflect this. Well, enough is enough. As a friend once said, "Cat, we're not 16 anymore and our bodies are telling us this every day. We gotta listen." Sooooo, I'm listing now and I've made my body a LIFE PROMISE and I'm getting it together. THANKS BODY for waiting on me. :)"

I once read of a group of pure raw foodists who, after many years on this healthy diet, began feeling decidedly ill, with declining health. They found that their B12 and iron stores were extremely low despite eating high protein vegetables like sprouted grains and exotic fruits and taking B12 shots. They decided to try 3oz of high quality lightly braised liver which is full of iron and B vitamins. Some tried cottage cheese. They were astounded with the results which included complete alleviation of their sick feelings. These old dudes began advocating eating a small amount of meat or cottage cheese at least once a week. Still, there are a lot of dogmatic purists out there who believe in only raw fruits and veggies. I found that they have no answer for genetic allergies which can cause many health problems as well as death. For some, allergies go away on raw as the stomach gets better and some not. There are sooooo many raw food books at health stores and on amazon and the diet is all over the net. Just read and find something that suits you and your lifestyle.

I personally decided after much experimentation and research that what works best for me with diabetic genetics is the following: 1 fruit, large amounts of raw salad, raw juices, and 3-6 oz of cooked meat daily. This works because I'm totally allergic to, in all their forms, wheat, soy, corn, oatmeal, nuts,seeds, egg whites, oranges and all milk products. I will say one thing; the first time I tried raw juices and it was just for 4 days, my hair grew an inch. I know this because I had a brand new straight perm and at the end of 4 days, I had an inch of coiled new growth all over my scalp. So raw is extremely nutrient dense. Rresearch and experiment with what works best for your own body with its unique chemistry and genetic inheritance. Raw does works but follow the rules that work for you."

06/19/2009: Catlin from Austin, TX replies: "Hi Preet: I acknowledge your skepticism. If I had not just gotten a bone-straight-to-the-root perm, I would agree. But after 4 days on RAW, I could FEEL AND SEE that inch of soft new-growth, healthy virgin hair. I'm aware that the norm for hair growth is, more or less, up to 6 inches a year. I'm a 4-5 incher per year at best and that's why this was SO astounding. It NEVER occurred before or since my 4 day experiment with RAW. Such an unusual happenstance, a sure thump to the noggin, showed I was seriously lacking nutrients for better hair growth as well as better health.

Oh dear! before I forget, something else happened. My husband, daughter and I were driving to the bookstore on my 4th day and as GOD IS MY WITNESS my vision suddenly brightened and, like an old wily coyote binocular experience became extremely focused and my ears popped; in that order. Colors were seriously brilliant and brighter, as if I had been seeing at half clarity all along and sounds got instantly louder as if my ears were suddenly unplugged. I sat there a moment, without speaking, taking it all in. To say I was astounded would be an understatement! I tried to explain what was going on to my husband and daughter who was in the back seat, but they laughed and looked at me as if I was making it all up to convince them to go RAW. I wasn't, this actually happened. I ALSO had never experienced THIS before or after going RAW. Another thump to the noggin, perhaps? Saying this now, remembering it now, leads me to conclude that incorporating lots of raw into the diet is the way to go. Hope I haven't confused anyone, but it's all true. God placed natural oil in our skin. It takes 24-48 hrs to replace it. Vitamin B, E, aloe vera and molasses are great! I never put soap on my face either. I have 8 grown children (My oldest is 42) No one believes me when I tell them my age. They guess me to be in my 40s or 50s. For gray hair SAGE and the B vitamins are the key. Fruits, veggies, no junk food. Omega 3 oils to keep the skin moist and lots of water drink at least 6 a day. I am not a water drinker but I divide the portions up. I take 2 morning, 2 mid-morning, 2 afternoon or evening .Keep your system ALKALINE with Apple Juice. Orange Juice is too full of Acid. An Alkaline system rids it of Toxins. An Oatmeal pack is great! Use Purified or Distilled water if possible or boil the water for 10 minutes if neither one is available."

Drinking lemon juice (i drink the juice of a full lemon in water with other stuff as well at least once a day if not three times) creates the alkaline condition- it is not the pH of the foods you ingest that is operative, but the effect of the 'ash' that is left after the food is digested. raw lemon juice is one of the MOST POWERFUL alkalising agents once can take and the effect it has on the liver and blood quality is breathtaking.

Please no one be put off lemons or limes. Alongside ACV, it is also a tremendously powerful fat burner. And highly energising. Do a search on health benefits of lemons and see for your self.

For anyone that is interested, the following foods should be consumed everyday if possible, they are in my opinion the most effective and nutritious foods and the health benefits and remedies they encompass are too great for me to mention here!

2. Raw onion or minced garlic
3.EV Olive oil
4. Chilli Pepper the hotter the better
5. Avocado
6. Milk thistle (powerful detox and unbeatable liver support)
7. Raw fresh lemon juice
8. Cinnamon (real,from sri lanka beware Cassia- it istoxic)
9. as much raw organic vegetables greens etc etc as you can handle a day
10. green tea.

I know its a lot. but half these ingredients can be combined into a drink and just gulped down! Come on people, be brave. I make up the drinks and just down them in three goes and its done! Drink to your health, literally.

COLD SHOWERS

But since i've tried this i find that i'm not so cold anymore! I work out every day and play tennis twice a week, but first let me say i'm in my mid 40's, i have 4 children (two in their 20's and two are not yet school age) so keeping fit and appearance are very important to me! I've always been told i look half my age, but what i've noticed more than anything is my skin!! The improvement in tone is just amazing to me. The first few days (after showering in the cold) i just kept looking at my face in the mirror. Only after a few days of cold showers i noticed a difference in the way i felt, my energy, metabolism, skin, and my pain!!! i had a hip injury almost 8 months ago and i've been doing strengthening excersizes and therapy to help this slow healing process, but after taking the showers i've had almost NO pain!! that has been the most amazing part to me. I take low fat yogurt daily. I never miss my green vegetables too, i have kale and spinach just lightly cooked with garlic daily and plenty of it. My weight never goes up and i m slim. I take a lots of garlic too. I drink plenty of water. I drink 500ml of green tea daily. I think more than chemical facials and other expensive skin care, what we eat is more important to determine our appearance and well being. use almonds nuts blended with milk into paste to apply to face for a about 15 mins and i wash off with warm water to get a clean healthy skin and beautiful skin. Apply raw coconut milk on face and lips and let is on for about 15mins and wash off, u will get a beautiful beautiful glowing skin."

I did not feel sluggish or fatigue anymore and I started getting the compliment of how clear my skin appeared and I noticed that my Menstruation cylcle bleed, less, lighter and smaller blood clots.

In the beginning I used 2TBS of ACV with 2TBS BSM mixed with 8oz glass of spring water or when I ran out of the spring water I just settled for the faucet water. I enjoyed the drink so much that I then did this twic a day once in the morning and then again a bedtime.

Try this recipe first at night... you'll be surprised how refreshed you look and feel in the morning. If you like it, you may want to do it again in the morning.

PRIMARY INGREDIENTS
1 Tablespoon Blackstrap Molasses (be careful if you have diabetes -- this may be too sweet for you)
2 Tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar
1/8 teaspoon of Baking Soda (per Ted's alkalizing formula)
Glass of hot water (steam distilled water is best)

OPTIONAL INGREDIENTS
2-3 shakes of cayenne pepper -- optional (good addition if you need to cut mucous production)
1/2 teaspoon of turmeric -- optional (add this if you have boils or any kind of acne)

Add these ingredients to your mug of hot (but not boiling) water. Stir well and sip slowly. You may want to follow this drink with a couple glasses of water since it can cause dehydration (especially during the night).

Note #1: Blackstrap Molasses is a great skin purifier.
Note #2: Apple Cider Vinegar causes the skin to glow with a healthy pink flush
Note #3: Turmeric appears to shrink pores
Note #4: Baking Soda alkalizes the formula"

09/23/2008: Janise from Los Angeles, CA replies: "Although Flaxseed oil can prove somewhat beneficial, it does more harm than good!!! It is like killing a fly with a sledge hammer.

Flaxseed oil is one of the highest foods containing ALA - Alpha Linolenic Acid. ALA is bad for the body!

ALA is a wet blanket for the enzymes that control the eventual flow of Omega 6 essential fatty acids towards the eicosanoid hormones. It knocks out both good and bad eicosanoid hormones. Knocking out the bad ones is good but knocking out the good ones as well creates a breeding ground for cancers!!!

This work is found by Dr. Barry Sears who wrote THE ZONE diet book. He won a Nobel prize in science for his discovery of the eicosanoid hormones and how they function. His advice to keep healthy hormones is to avoid all foods especially Flaxseed oil, which contains ALA. ALA is also found in egg yolks, walnuts, corn and canola oils as well as, Beef, pork and ham..

ALA foods, suppress immune system, increase inflamation, decrease oxygen flow and endurance and constrict airways while also causing blood platelet aggregation.

You may want to rethink your Flaxseed oil remedy. Like I said its like killing a fly with a sledge hammer."

Most plants (even the non-hybrids) have a few harmful chemicals but other chemicals included in them make them safe to eat or take as herbal remedies. Hence my pokeweed berries that are supposed to be poison, but 40 years past first beginning to appreciate their good qualities, I have nothing but good to say about them although they are supposed to be poison."

Omega 6 is what we consume too much of in the Western diet and it is what interferes with the function of Omega 3. Naturally we are supposed to consume these two essential fatty acids in a 2:1 ratio, but in our diet the ratio is closer to 20:1. Due to the elevated Omega 6, all those symptoms that you mentioned (i.e. inflammation) are actually aggravated. Omega 3 (alpha linoleic acid) is very important and very beneficial, as it is important for the composition of tissues, membrane phospholipids, retinal photoreceptors, cerebral gray matter, testes and sperm. It also produces eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Studies have shown that increased consumption of omega 3 fatty acid improves a number of conditions and promotes general health. In summary, flaxseed oil is good for you. Your argument appears to be the opposite of what health professionals advocate."

Flaxseed/Linseed is a highly volatile oil (oxidises easily). If you must use it, only buy cold pressed oil in a dark bottle and store it in your refrigerator. Throw out any unused linseed oil after 3 weeks. Otherwise you will just be making lino on your blood vessels. The most volatile oil of all, is canola oil. The most stable oil is coconut oil."
