[YEA]  09/26/2008: Joanne from Edmonton, Canada writes: "re: multiple sclerosis - gallbladder

I've been doing OP for 1-2 weeks off and on (1 tbsp of sunflower oil). I am getting this awfully thick white goop in the oil when I spit it out and have to spit after 5-10 mins. as it is such a bad feeling in my mouth. My oil never comes out clear. Will it eventually turn clear once the toxins are out?? My skin has turned awesome by the way but I have lots of gallbladder problems and am having surgery next month to have it out. Will these be toxins from the gallbladder or MS?? Have no mercury fillings :). My back pain has worsened but hopefully that will improve with time. If this works it is much more affordable that anything else out there!"

[SIDE EFFECTS]  09/24/2008: Leena from Montrose, CO writes: "I started oil pulling 4 days ago...I had a tooth removed because of abcess three weeks ago (molar). I thought I was doing well, but this morning after using the OP method, my mouth on both sides was hurting really bad!!! It seems my gums are better, but the pain was intense. I'm using organic unrefined sesame oil. Would like to work through this pain thing, can't go though this everyday!!! Any help would be appreciated."

09/24/2008: Karen (kbutler@austin.rr.com) from Austin, TX replies: "Definitely use clove oil or mix yourself up some Thieves, recipe here:
Equal Parts Clove, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus Radiata, Rosemary, Lemon.
I use a little more cinnamon as I love the taste. Oils from Young Living or Ananda Apothecary. You can get YL oils cheaper using this number 342614. Also, PainBomb on the jawbone over pain. www.PainBomb.com
All the Best,

[YEA]  09/14/2008: Sue from Sarasota, FL writes: "Oil Pulling. I've been Oil Pulling since December 2007. I started because of dry eyes. I can't say that it helped my dry eyes but some of the benefits are truly amazing, in my case.

I've worn nail polish most of my adult life and, therefore, have yellow nails. After oil pulling for several months, the yellow disappeared. Now that's amazing. Additionally, without prompting, my dental hygienest asked if I was doing anything different. She said I know you drink red wine but you hardly have any stains whatsoever. I go every 6 months for cleanings. I also believe the dark circles under my eyes are much less noticeable. No one ever says... "you look tired." like they did before.

Lastly, to those of you who have asthma, I did too for about 15 years. Chiropractic fixed that. I had an x-ray which showed an old back fracture and my alignment was terrible. After about 9 months of treatment several times a week, I decided to stop my daily inhaler. Very nervous doing so. CURED. Chiropractic cured me. That's all I can say.

Hope this helps."

09/23/2008: SaraMarieSue from McAllen, TX replies: "This is just a wonderful website - I have learned of many natural remedies that work wonders for all sorts of ailments. Oil pulling is a technique that I haven't heard of before, but am going to give it a try - it sounds like it's good for a number of things. This last week I've experienced severe acne (out of the blue) and am hoping this combined with other antidotes will help clear up my skin. Will be posting updates about my experience with oil pulling..."

[YEA]  09/13/2008: Simon from Panama City, Florida writes: "Yea: I was suffering from intense sinus head ache pain from a prolonged sinus infection. I read about oil pulling and tried it twice the first day I felt better that day. The next day I felt like a million bucks. I had been suffering with this for two weeks. I couldn't believe how quick this worked for me. I had tried antibiotics, the netty pot,and decongestants but they did not relieve the symptoms. It is now the third day and I still feel better. I can smell again.YEA! I will continue oil pulling once in the morning."

[YEA]  09/08/2008: Liberty from Greeley, CO writes: "If I eat too much sugar (candy, sweets, etc) I can expect to have dry eyes when I wake up the next morning. I have been using oil pulling for around 3 years now off and on. I have been able to use the oil pulling to eliminate the dry eyes and it does so quickly. It seems that it also helps clear the sugar from my system faster. I have used olive oil and sunflower oil. Olive oil does work but sunflower does seem to be better. Oil pulling has helped with several other things also. I use 2 teaspoons (1 Tablespoon was too much for me). I follow the recommended procedure and rinse w/ peroxide/water mixed 50/50."

[YEA]  08/29/2008: Knute from Sacramento, USA writes: "I was fortunate to find out about Dr Karach's oil pulling therapy over 16 years ago, and my objective was to improve my immune system, as a preventative. And it certainly has done so, for example, the number of colds has gone down a lot. Plus, my digestion has improved very much. Also, I can go on for more hours without feeling the need to eat.

I mostly use sesame oil, peanut oil, and sunflower oil: Once per day, one table spoon in the morning, before breakfast, 5-7 days a week. I have found that it's very important to rinse the oral cavity and tonge with baking soda/salt in warm water, and brush all of the same area - including the tongue, after applying just a little baking soda and salt on the toothbrush.

Basically, my opinion is that oil pulling is one of the very best ways to stimulate the body's natural healing abilities, and that includes detoxification. 15-20 minutes in the morning of oil pulling regularly, while taking a shower or shaving or ... - is one of the wisest things we could to, healthwise."

08/30/2008: Martha from Baltimore, Maryland replies: "Why would you add salt to baking soda, it already contains alot of sodium."

08/30/2008: Knute from Sacramento, USA replies: "Why add salt, well it's per the instructions of Dr Karach. Also, note, that we are to spit out the salt and the baking soda, so the purpose of it is not to be assimilated by the body. According to Dr Karach, ..., having spit out the liquid from the mouth, now it's time to rinse the oral cavity.

Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda to a cup of warm, pure water. With this solution rinse your mouth a few times. Then add a little salt and baking soda directly to your toothbrush and carefully brush your teeth, gums and tongue - even under the tongue. Then gargle with the water that had some salt and baking soda added to it. Leave just a little of this water left in the cup, and add a little cool, pure water to it. The purpose is to dilute its strength.

Then tip the cup under your nose and gently "sniff up" the water to cleanse your nasal passages. Blow your nose gently..."

[YEA]  08/19/2008: Michael from Los Angeles, CA writes: "Oil-Pulling (remedy) for allergies (ailment):

I started oil-pulling with Sesame oil about 3 months ago. It took a little while to get used to 1 whole Tablespoon of oil for 15-20 minutes, but I just did my normal morning routine while oil-pulling. I have not had to take any prescription allergy medications that I usually took at least a few times per month or when pollen counts were very high in my area. I oil-pull every morning when I wake up without fail and find that I have increased energy and no allergies."

[YEA]  08/14/2008: Lela (yochat316@yahoo.com) from Sanford, N writes: "Just want to thank earthclinic for it's awesome website, you are the best. I first tried the oil pulling on 08/02/08 and it has done wonders for me. first thing it's done is corrected my digestive system and in only 13 days I'm loosing my bloated belly, my face is glowing, I'm sleeping much much better, I have energy to spare, over all, I haven't felt this good in over 20 years from a day to day period. just can't thank you enough.

There's just one question I have about how offten you should use this method. OK, today is the 13th day of my using it. I noticed that this morning after my 20 min usage when I spat it out it was still yellow, does this mean that I've cleared out all my toxins for now and would need to wait a few days then go back because I did a repeat later on this afternoon and got the same results. what ever your answer is, I will continue to do the oil pulling it's just too good not to continue using.
May God Bless all of you!
Lela"

[YEA]  08/02/2008: Carol (cbaillow@cocoafl.org) from Cocoa, FL writes: "First, I would like to thank the originator for this web-site. I have been oil pulling for about two months and I have an enormous burst of energy after oil pulling. Previously to oil pulling I was having a problem with my left arm. I had gone to the doctor to have it checked, I had a stress test, blood work etc, results were normal. (it felt like I had some type of pulling in my arm). I have not had any problems with it since oil pulling. My teeth are very white. I am also doing Weight Watchers along with my daily pulling I am losing weight when I started WW I was 247lbs, I am now at 237lbs I don't know yet if I can contribute this to oil pulling yet. I only use 1 tsp of safflower oil and swish for 15-20 every morning. Truly thankful for the energy it gives me. It makes me more active.(which was needed). Thank you. Carol"

[SIDE EFFECTS]  08/01/2008: Thelma from Baltimore, Md writes: "I tried the oil pulling method and I must admit that the first two weeks my skin was unbelievable. I could not stop looking in the mirror. I am 44 years old and I swear I was looking at least ten years younger. The pores around my nose had tightened and the laugh lines had started disappearing. I used one tablespoon of sesame oil every morning before brushing and flossing. After the first two weeks I ended up with a sore throat, pink eye and skin rash. I have never suffered from pink eye before. I know this was from the O/P. I beleive it was the toxins finding an escape route. I started again this week but I am only O/P once a week and then I will gradually work my way up to daily O/P again. If anyone has any suggestions or any similar experiences can you please post. Thanks."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  07/28/2008: Valerie from Boulder, CO writes: "I started oil pulling for 20 minutes in the morning. I didn't always remember to do it and sometimes I would spit it out and forget to drink water afterwards. I also started using a toothpaste with Thieves oil. One day (now a week) I awoke with my mouth and lips inflamed and full of sores, some bleeding. This has been very painful. I can only drink liquid foods and have a hard time talking.

One other thing. I am not an athlete. I went to an athletic camp for a week from 9-11 and became extremely hot with lots of sweating.

I have a sense that I am going through a rough detox. I swish with HP and drink aloe vera juice along with smoothies I make with papaya/banana or beet greens + beet and carrots.

Any thoughts?"

08/16/2008: Ulrike from New York, NY replies: "To those who have sores/infections after OP: did you follow the directions closely? It says that you are supposed to rinse your mouth and nose out with anti-bacterial solution (salt and/or baking soda). You are also supposed to drink water after OP, and you are supposed to use a naturally anti-bacterial oil like sesame oil. You are basically bringing up all sorts of germs from your system through delicate mucous membranes, and if you don't clean said membranes after OP, expect problems! As for the tooth alignment issues, most likely you had a preexisting condition (maybe deep pockets from poor oral hygiene) and after the OP removed the bacteria your tooth shifted.

One other note: simple toxicological tests indicate that anything put on the gums will flow to the connective tissues around the organs of the body. This can be shown in a lab! So there is the potential for the health of your gums to directly impact your internal organs and visa versa."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  07/17/2008: Violet from Gresham, OR writes: "I was curious if there was any way that Oil pulling could cause teeth to move from their normal placement or otherwise become crooked. I was oil pulling for about 2 weeks twice a day and just noticed a gap between my central and lateral incisor on the right side with the lateral starting to turn in slightly so that it doesn't line up with my other teeth. Could the oil pulling have caused this?

I used a Tbsp of cold pressed extra virgin sesame oil in the morning and at night. I first started to stop my gums from bleeding but it seemed like my gums started receding and then I later noticed the tooth becoming crooked. I don%uFFFDt know if the Oil pulling caused this but is there anything I can do to fix the tooth and gums?"

[YEA]  07/10/2008: Larry from Bon Aqua, USA writes: "I learned about OP from a nurse at my VA. I thought about it and searched the internet for info.
The reason I used it was to remove the bacteria and poisonous toxins I was sure were under my teeth. I also have diabeties and that causes teeth problems. When I started I was in pain from an exposed nerve.

I used 1T seaseme oil and 1T sunflower oil combined w 5 drops black walnut, 5 drops pepperment and 6 drops cinnamon oils. The peppermint for pain and the cinnamon for the antibacterial. Note: oregano as far as I know is an anti-fungal, not an anti-bacterial.
Regardless I swished my mix for 15 min, keep in mind I was in pain at the time. The first effect I noted, there was no pain even when I drew cold air through the area of my mouth. I could eat hot or cold food w no pain. Needless to say I am hooked for life. Teeth that were rising and becoming loose over the next week returned to near normal and tight in the gum. I don't know about the rest of my ailments. My teeth are much better.

A side obsevation I would like to mention is directed to the lady in India who tried OP for her wrist and arm metacarpule. I had metacarpule and the thing I knew that allowed me to over come it is this. The nevre when damaged will swell in its pathway and this is what causes pain when the joint is moved. Nerves continue to swell if they continue to bump bone which causes more pain. The wrist has a very small passage for its nerves. The swelling that causes the pain is closer to the thumb than the elbow (I mean the swell is trapped). The nerve for the thumb and forefinger extends thru the arm up to the armpit. To releive the pain from my wrist I reach up on a door frame as high as I could. Held on to the frame and dropped my body slowly down streaching my arm until it was fully extended way over my head. At first fire was running up my arm but when I reached full extention of my arm I felt a pop in my wrist and all pain vanished. Now I stretch to insure it doesn't happen again.

I hope this can help someone. It worked for me."

[YEA]  06/22/2008: SB from London, UK writes: "I've just started oil pulling with olive oil. It's only day 3 but I am just amazed .What I do is I oil pull for 20 or more minutes then I wash my mouth out and then brush my teeth with a mix of turmeric and bicarbonate soda (this I was already doing before I started oil pulling). After a few seconds juices start seeping out endlessly from inside my mouth, nose continously runs and eyes keep watering. I presume this is a detox and built up toxins seep out. Then I cough up masses of phlgem from my lungs. It's white, thick and this morning there must have been about half a glass or more . These effects come when I brush my teeth afterwards with the turmeric and bicarbonate of soda and not with the oil pulling alone nor was this happening when I was brushing my teeth with the turmeric mix before I started oil pulling. So this must be the effect of the two combined. Thanks earth clinic because I can breathe much more easily now."

[YEA]  06/12/2008: Mike from Seguin, TX writes: "I have been oil pulling for 4 days. I used to smoke two packs a day and drink so much coffee I ended up in the hospital with caffiene intoxication. My teeth look so much cleaner and are starting to get white. They had been terribly stained. I work nights, 12 hour shifts, and always have big black bags surrounding my eyes. These bags are almost completely gone and my skin looks so clear. I also starting drinking 2 tablespoons of ACV in 8 oz of water before each meal. My skin is really starting to glow. My energy is reaching levels I have not felt in years. I am in my mid forties. I am really starting to look younger. This upsets my wife very much. She is upset that I am being stared at now by others whenever we are out together. She sees the differences in my appearance and energy but for some reason will still not try oil pulling or ACV. I am going to start keeping a journal and track the changes in my appearance and energy. I am so pleased with the results and it has only been four days!!!! I am enjoying being "noticed" so much more when I go out. It always nice to know that others find you attractive. I FEEL GREAT!!!!!!!!! I will continue with both of these practices for the remainder of my life. It is so cheap and yet the rewards are so tremendous."

[YEA]  05/29/2008: Sandhya (sensuousgaze@gmail.com) from Nagpur, Maharashtra State, India writes: "Hi! I have been oil pulling with sesame oil (don't think it is organic) for the past 25 days and have been drinking apple cider vinegar with warm water and honey for around 5-6 days. I have noticed my facial pores have become smaller and my skin looks clearer than before and I don't feel very tired which I usually do. I have not dared step on the weighing machine as I would like to continue all this for another three months and then check my weight. I am on the higher side. My query is I am living in India and I got of apple cider vinegar by some company called American Garden, U.S.A. It is not organic. I would like to know whether it has to be organic or any natural one will do. I have found this website to be truly enlightening and useful. Keep up the good work!!!!"

07/24/2008: Jamie from Chico, CA replies: "I find that if I Oil pull for 20 min first thing in the AM and then drink my ACV, I try to wait 4hr after eating to Oil pull again and I include all liquids that are not H2O. 05/22/2008: Paige from Cleveland, OH writes: "I started doing the oil pulling last week, missed a couple days over the weekend, then started back this week. Both when I first started and now since I've re-started my lymph nodes are swollen and extremely sore. Is this normal? It seems to me that it's traveling down my body, the first week was the nodes in my neck area, this week it's my arms and underarms. I was just wondering if it's normal...I thought perhaps it's because my body is ridding itself of toxins through the oil pulling. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thanks."

05/28/2008: Roseann from San Diego, San Diego replies: "Hi Paige....I am not a doctor or any other kind of health care professional; however, swollen lymph glands/nodes can be associated with infections and/or disease; since the symptoms you describe seem to disappear after stopping your swishing and then return once OP is reinstated it could be your Detox theory. I too noticed some lymph gland enlargement (even some neck veins) following my first swish or two....I continued swishing while reducing the force I was using and all gland/vein problems seem to have resolved..Good luck."

05/30/2008: THealth from Los Angeles, CA replies: "Hi Paige/ Roseann,
Regarding your swollen lymph nodes, what oil are using using for oil pulling? I think it is the sunflower oil which is causing it. I used to do oil pulling with sesame oil and was perfect but recently i started with sunflower oil and have swollen lymph nodes. I would suggest continue with your oil for sometime and if it does not get better then switch it to some other oil."

06/07/2008: Paige from Cleveland, OH replies: "I'm using Sesame oil, not sunflower."

[YEA]08/03/2008: Julie from Southern, Illinois replies: "Regarding swelling lymph nodes as a side effect of Oil Pulling. I have had bumps under my arms all my life -- just thought that's what armpits looked like. I tried oil pulling for a week or so last year (Sesame oil, tablespoon or so). I only swished for 1 or 2 minutes (hoped to work up to longer). I immediately noticed my teeth were whiter, or maybe just shinier. But what absolutely astonished me was that the lumps/bumps under my arms were GONE. Completely! I had never in my life had smooth armpits before! I was flabbergasted. Well, life got busy and I quit oil pulling. My armpits returned to their former lumpiness. The Sesame oil sat on a shelf in the bathroom for about a year. I recently decided to try it again. I had no idea if the oil was still good -- but thought it couldn't hurt. I have only been oil pulling for 3 days, again just for a minute or so, and -- unbelievable -- the bumps under my arms are almost gone again! It's so blatant, it makes me laugh! Well, I am definitely going to keep up the Oil pulling routine (btw I only did it in the a.m.) -- and also am going to try to work up to doing it for a longer time. The longer I swish, as others know, the more the oily stuff becomes watery and you have to go longer to reach this stage. I don't know if the bumps under my arms are lymph nodes (they aren't painful or anything) -- whatever they are, they are almost gone again! I have also been feeling a renewed energy in the morning and hadn't known why, maybe because I was trying to drink my 8+ glasses of water a day-- now I think it's due to the oil pulling. I'm going to keep oil pulling and see if I keep feeling energetic, watch those bumps disappear, and see what else happens! If my half-hearted attempt yields these phenomenal and immediate results . . . something is definitely going on."

[YEA]  05/18/2008: Susan B. from Pacific Palisades, CA writes: "I think Oil Pulling is one of the best ENERGYremedies around. When I do it for at least 2 days in a row, my energy level goes through the roof! I am quite convinced now that (though no proof, of course) that oil pulling energizes the kidney meridians, much like an acupuncture treatment.  I usually suffer from cold hands and feet in cooler weather and the acupuncturist that I had several sessions with last winter told me it was because my kidney chi was weak.  Thus he focused the needles in the kidney meridians. Sure enough my fingertips turned from ash white to a nice pink color, as did my face.  Well, the same thing happens every time I do an oil pulling session with sunflower oil first thing in the morning.  More blood circulates to my hands and feet and my energy level also increases tremendously. So much so that I sometimes have a hard time going to sleep at night (2:00am and I am counting sheep!) Some other people at Earth Clinic also reported a rise in energy levels after OP-ing, so there's something to this theory... I think..."

[WARNING!]  05/06/2008: Patti from Huntsville, AL writes: "I've been oil pulling for about 6-7 weeks. I started using Safflower Oil at night and could only swish for a few minutes. Gradually, though, I learned to relax and look forward to the time. After about 2 weeks, I started using Sesame Oil at night & Safflower Oil in the mornings. Immediately I noticed the difference in my mouth, of course, but also I found that I slept more deeply after swishing. Once I began swishing in the mornings as well, it seemed that I lost my cravings...not my appetite. I still got hungry and enjoyed meals, but I didn't wanted from pantry to refrigerator looking for something to eat between times. My concern right now, though, is that my blood pressure has gone out of sight. I mentioned the Oil Pulling to my doctor & she said she didn't see how it could correlate, but it's the only things I'm doing differently. I noticed one other poster mentioned that possibility or I may not have given it another thought. I've stopped pulling, I hope temporarily, to see if it makes a difference. I believe that it's a wonderful practice that I could do forever IF I can convince myself that it isn't causing the BP spike."

05/18/2008: Patti from Huntsville, AL replies: "I emailed several weeks ago with a concern because my blood pressure had spiked soon after beginning my Oil Pulling. I stopped using the oil for several days with no change in my blood pressure, and then resumed the Oil Pulling soon after. I truly do not believe that the oil had anything to do with the blood pressure spike. I did, however, start back using the Apple Cider Vinegar after a couple of years of laziness, and my blood pressure has begun to level off again! I keep a jar of ACV and honey (1/2 and 1/2) and I add a couple of tablespoons to cold Apple Juice a couple of times a day. I agree with other posters, ACV and Honey and Oil Pulling are both things that I believe I can do for life!"

08/19/2008: Matthew from Tucson, AZ USA replies: "Sounds like you need to do a cleanse, fasting can help your body heal itself. Another good option would be fresh ground common cloves, wormwood, and black walnut hull extract in combination. There are specific instructions for the latter cleanse. You can find info by searching Hulda Clark online or in the book The Cure for all Cancers by Hulda Clark it is inexpensive and invaluble. The parasite cleanse is useful for everyone but you may want to ease into it slower than described in the book it can be intense if you are heavily infested."

08/23/2008: Cindy from Wichita, USA replies: "www.watercure2.org

Everything you've said is right in keeping with the fact that high blood pressure is caused by dehydration.

Everything you put in your mouth tells your body that it's going to get some. If it's good for you, then the body prepares for the party. If it's bad for you, your body prepares for war. If it thinks it's getting something and doesn't, all hell breaks loose. This is also why artificial sweeteners are so bad for you. Your body is told, via your taste buds, that it's about to get a dose of sugar, and then it doesn't.

When you are dehydrated, your body is forced to steal water from the colon. This is an entirely different process than what takes place in a properly hydrated body and the process that would be put in motion if you drank plain water on an empty stomach. It's work. HARD work. Plus it's performed in an emergency situation (dehydration).

It takes water to do work. Everything your body does requires water. So your body has to steal water, not only to keep your decreased blood volume pumping all the way up to your brain, but it ALSO has to steal water just to be able to steal water.

Your body thinks it's getting coconut oil from which it can steal water. But it doesn't so it has to scramble back to where it was. And during all of this, it is still having to contend with your low blood volume and getting blood to your brain to keep you from fainting.

Of course your blood pressure increased. Two things happened. You tell your body it's going to get some oil AND you decreased your food intake. Both sources of water to a desperate body that is scrambling just to keep you upright.

Your body is screaming for water. And salt too, as you are probably on a salt free diet, right? Salt is #3 on the list of things a human being can't live long without. But to handle salt, it needs plain water. And to handle plain water it needs salt. Your body is about 75% water. And that's SALT water. Your body is an ocean."
