The drug companies can't take 5-htp and l-tyrosine away, mainly because our body naturally produces these anyway (namely seratonin and dopamine). And besides, they dont' have some sort of agenda to take natural cures away. But they certainly try to diminish their effectiveness by promoting harmful drugs over natural cures.

Yes effective but so pricey... I have used L tyrosine more for mood elevation and constructive thinking. But one day I discovered the web page "rapid recovery from depression using magnesium" and on that page are the rays of hope that made me try magnesium (and I use the cheapest form of it Magenesium sulphate-epsom salts) 3 weeks later I walked around for days saying what is up? what is different? Then I realised the grey cloud that had been with me for 30 years was gone... About a teaspoon a day in divided dose... Cheap cheap cheap!!! I am FREE... I have not been swept away in a depressive state since... 5 years now =-) sure bad days come but not the feeling of losing yourself not knowing when you will be back... If you have salt issues there are other forms of magnesium...

Greetings Nancy,
It could also be a sign that you are dehydrated and need to drink extra glasses of water whenever you take your baking soda. If you are speaking of heighten and very bright colors in dreams, as a young woman during my three days fast of no water and no food, in the summer months I would get these heighten colored dreams.

Borax
★★★★★
I had experienced a clarity of sleep & dreaming that I rarely experience. Reminded me of when I was young. However continuing the next day...with only about 6 to 8 ounces more I did not experience the same effect the 2nd night..I had some tenderness in my back but could attribute it to my anxiety over ingesting this from what others have reported. I decided to try the supplement, Boron, instead to see if it had the same effects, which it did not. (dosage on label) I perceived no effect from it. Since then I have tried Borax once more (1/8 tsp to a liter) a few sips before bed. & what I experienced was an elevation of body temperature (slight night sweating) and increased dream recall though not as pronounced as my 1st trial... In summary, I like the effects of this remedy though cannot confirm that it doesn't cause any harm. (I would imagine most Doctors reading this thinking we are crazy for ingesting this stuff) Still, considering that it is no more toxic than table salt, (wiki) I will continue with occasional trials & run it by my Dr. If he gives me a firm no... I will stop.
Cayenne
★★★★★
I too began taking the Cayenne when I started the Master cleanse. My dreams were so vivid it was almost like I could reach out and touch them. I felt like I was in a psychedelic state. I didn't know that Cayenne had that type of effect. I was pleasantly surprised.

I agree. Last year we started shutting the breaker off at night to save money on our electric bill. Not only did it decrease our bill by almost half, we found that we were sleeping much better at night. Try it for a week and see if you feel better. I bet you will.

I can't switch off the breaker (neighbors on the same breaker), but started sleeping with my head at the "foot" of the bed - i.e. away from the wall and therefore away from the electrical field running through the wires in the wall - and I've been sleeping much more peacefully since then. I also unplug everything (except the fridge) from the wall sockets before I go to sleep. Blissful peace that I remember from childhood when I used to sleep in the back yard.

Hi! I have been reading this website since last few days and I am hooked to it! I really am grateful to all the contributors who are giving their tips and helpful posts. Pardon my ignorance, but I have difficulty in understanding some abbreviations used here, EMF for eg.
What does EMF mean?

I'm sensitive to EMF's and I noticed that in certain areas where there's a lot of noise pollution there is a constant ringing sound. I don't sleep well with lights, noise, or tv on. Melatonin may help with the Insomnia too, it balances the body's reaction and you can handle all the artificial light from computers, tv, etc. And have a more natural sleep.

I have to agree with you on the EMF's. I found out the hard way. I worked at a Casino for 2 years, before we figured out why I was sick so much while on the casino floor. I still have Minor issues with EMF's. Limits my work options. After doing much research, I have discovered that EMF's don't effect you if you are able to convert to 12 volt system. I am currently designing a house I plan to build with 12 volts throughout the Living area. My Kitchen and Bath will be a sepearate building attached by a breezeway used for outdoor dining. I know there is at least one case of EMF sensitivity, where you can not even approach with a cell phone in your pocket or the man will pass out. I have slept better with limiting my exposure to 110 volt currents and giving up the cell phone. Hopefully my symptoms will not progress to the point I have to move to a remote mountain in solitude. ALSO, if you want to remember the dreams, write down everything you remember as soon as you wake up. This will allow you to remember more dreams over time. Good luck.
L-Carnitine
★★★★★
I started taking L-Carnitine (among other supplements) recently and around the same time started to recollect my dreams, about 3-4 a night instead of 1 every once in a while. I didn't make the connection until I stopped the L-Carn last week and almost immediately stopped being able to recall any dreams. I started up again last night and was able to remember 3 dreams this morning. I take 1 TBL on an empty stomach 3x a day.

Valerian is amazing. You have epic dreams. Long drawn out, involved dreams. You wake up feeling like you've been asleep for years. Very relaxed and refreshed. It's great :)

I have just started taking MSM (literally 2 days) and I had the most amazingly vivid dreams last night. I wondered if anyone else has experienced this using MSM?
I dont mind the dreams if I can finally fade these hideous brown patches on my face!
I can't tell you what a relief it is to have found this site where I can finally talk about this with others who understand what I'm going through..
thanks and good luck everyone with being rid of melasma

I can see someone wanting to induce dreams for the fun of it and on a day off the next day but if you need a good nights rest, you certainly don't need to be dreaming or remembering your dreams (we all dream all the time). If you remember your dreams and the more clearer they are that means you are semi-conscious and not resting. A deep non-dream state is what you are shooting for if a good nights rest are your goals.

You shouldn't be tired from dreaming. On the contrary, I receive some interesting concepts on living from my dreams.
