I woke up this morning dizzy, nauseous, & sweating. This is the first time I've ever experienced this type of misery. I tried ginger ale & candied ginger with very little relief. I had salmon last night as did my daughter but she feel great. I am so thankful to have found this site and all the great assistance. After suffering for 9 hrs. I decided to drag myself out & but the activated charcoal & apple cider vinegar. I took 2 capsules of the charcoal & took a swig of vinegar, I don't advise this, be sure to dilute with water. I felt worse for a couple hours & then the dizziness, nausea & sweating began to dissipate considerably. I'm so amazed at how much better I feel from just 2 hrs. ago! Thank you so much to all!!

About 2-3 hours after eating pasta and chicken breasts at a friends house, my girlfriend became nauseous, very achy, and feverish. In the middle of the night she finally vomited and had a little diarrhea. In the morning she was feeling a little better but then early-mid morning got the symptoms back. I found this Googled up this website and went and got some ACV and charcoal capsules. I had her take 2 capsules with a slice of toast and a tablespoon of ACV (yes, it's nasty), washing it down with some tap water. Before I left, I had her take 2 more charcoal capsules. I called her 30 minutes later and she says she is feeling much better. Will report back if anything changes.

Want to make a lot of money? Come up with an Apple Cider Vinegar that TASTES GOOD! Fish oil is the only thing I can think of that tastes worse. J

ACV tastes fine to me, but my mother has a problem with the taste as well. So I usually put ACV in orange juice and she hardly notices it. Hope that helps!

Add a bit of stevia to the Apple Cider Vinegar and water. Actually tastes great! Adding some ice to make it cold helps too.

I mix 1 part organic apple cider vinegar with the mother to 1 part raw honey to 2 parts filtered water. Mix well. Drink. Tastes much better this way in my opinion.

I do the ACV, local honey (for allergies! ), and (because I'm not fond of water) I use sparkling coconut water. Add this last and slowly so it doesn't foam itself to death! Your call on amounts but I use 2 TBL ACV, 1 Honey, 8 oz water.

I began to get food poisoning symptoms on Friday afternoon. I quickly took a Grapefruit Seed Extract pill. It seemed to help as I didn't get the usual painful cramping and the diarrhea seemed to have stopped. I took another pill that evening. The next morning, however, although still no pain, I had the runs. I wondered if there were other natural remedies and found this page. I happened to have some activated charcoal that I bought a few years ago and never tried. I immediately took two capsules. A half hour later I took the vinegar. The runs stopped in about 15-20 minutes! I was able to go out in the evening and eat normally. My stomach would feel queasy, so I continued to take the vinegar in smaller doses every few hours. This morning I'm totally back to normal!

I feel for everyone here, Just had my first experience with food poisoning... Not fun.. Ate some tuna I mixed with some spices and mayo that was left out for about 1-2 hours thinking it was okay to eat about 6-12 hours before I woke up at 3AM. Starting to diarrhea a lot and took some pepto bismol (which I never do because prescription and non-prescription drugs are trash ) But the stomach cramp was just too much for me. Went back to sleep waking up at about 10AM thinking it was just indigestion but from then on till about 6PM I had to diarrhea about about every 30 minutes to an hour, threw up, starting shaking, felt cold, and had SEVERE cramps when I went to the bathroom.

A WORD OF ADVICE TO ALL WITH FOOD POISONING: The activated charcoal I took ( a 256 mg capsule ) at about 3:20PM helped, it made the pain more tolerable and made the cramps and diarrhea less frequent. The apple cider vinegar though, which in total was only about a few gulps worth did the trick! Within a couple hours of sipping on that vinegar I had no more sever cramping when I went to the bathroom, I felt 90% better, had a sore stomach afterwards but a few more sips did away with that! Best of all, I could eat solids again without having to rush to the bathroom. I didnt eat too much though, maybe a couple handfuls because I'm still weak from the experience and didnt want to overdue it.

Hooray to active charcoal pills and ACV!

My teenage son woke me up around 2:00 AM, on a school night with vomitting and the runs. I almost knew instantly that it was food poisoning. It was a local eatery here, not my food, of course! I jumped on-line, saw this site and viewed all of the stories for active charcoal and ACV. He took two charcoal pills and two tablespoons of ACV, followed with a Sprite to kill some of the taste. He hasn't thrown up for four hours now, and only one rush to the toilet. He's been asleep now for two hours! This works! Hope it works for you too!

Hi,
~I recently had a nasty bout of food poisoning caused by some barbequed chicken (never leave chicken out of the fridge, even for an hour). I had fever, diarrhea, vomiting and horrible stomach cramps. It was only 4 days in that i discovered this website and i tried Activated Charcoal tablets and Cider Vinegar tablets from the local health food shop.

The charcoal was the first one i tried and within 10 minutes i found the cramps had eased considerably. I could even start to eat.

Later, when they returned I tried the Cider Vinegar and again 10 minutes wa all it took.

Overall I found them equally effective and I am using both in the final stages of the illness.

Thanks for all the great advice... I'll be using this site much more often!

i wanted to ask if anyone had tried the apple Cider vinegar first before eating out? Last Christmas party 2 people got food poisoning.. we all ate the same food. I took a Tablespoon of ACV 1 hr. before eating at the party. i ate everything, including salmon, chicken and veggie dishes but did not get sick. Now, of course there were many who did not get sick or who didn't complain of it. But i'd like to know if anyone else has heard about this little pre-party preventative.?

EC: Yes, heard that tip in DC Jarvis's book Folk Medicine!

I just arrived in Bangkok last night at 2am having not eaten all day and stupidly ate some very cheap food (I was very hungry). I immediately took a few drops of iodine in water out of fear of the inevitable... but an hour later the inevitable happened and I got the runs and all the signs of impending food poisoning. So I took more iodine and some tablets I had which had a small amount of charcoal in them and pepsin (the digestive enzyme). I must have had around 20 drops of iodine and about 5 of these tablets and all symptoms went away in about an hour or less. Today I feel fine! I'm off to find some clean food.

Use Aloe Vera to stop food poisoning!!!!

Less than 2 hours after eating a salad with steak and a few pieces of fruit......I had food poisoning. It was a good restaurant yet all the symptoms were there....stomach bloating, pain, cramps, and then gaseous vomiting after emptying the bowels. Cramps were the worst. I mixed 2 teaspoons of baking soda in a glass of water and downed it. Shortly after I vomited several times easily which removed the contaminated food. Then I took the miracle worker ALOE VERA......it stops food poisoning right away. Cut the plant and eat it or buy a good juice or try the pills....... Keep taking it for the day. It will ease your sore stomach and intestines as well. I was asleep almost immediately afterwards and woke up fine the next day.

If you are a few hours into digestion take the ALOE FIRST. I wanted the food out of my stomach before it hit my intestines so I took the baking soda first. After vomiting it is important to replenish electrolytes ......you can drink coconut water, or put lemon or lime in water with sugar and salt and keep drinking it or buy some. This is essential to get back your strength. Hope this is serving to someone.

This is a post about Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV), Activated Charcoal, and Garlic. I tried these three remedies for a bad case of salmonella poisoning. I'm thinking I have food poisoning as I ate four partially raw eggs. And to be quite honest, I was skeptical--but only at first.

The apple cider vinegar was the first remedy I tried. I took 2 tbsp straight. The first thing I noticed was the calming effect it had on my stomach. It took the edge off the uneasiness, but didn't completely take away the nausea which came back an hour later. So, I took 2 tbsp of the ACV again. I fell asleep feeling better, but not cured.

The next morning, I felt like the right side of my stomach had something cooking inside. So, I took the ACV again, but this time I felt like my stomach was extremely raw and sore. I didn't want to stop taking it, so I waited 5 hours before taking the last dose.

I also began reading about active charcoal on various sites. I was reading that it absorbs bacteria and toxins, so I bought some of that later in the evening. I immediately felt sick after taking it and later began burping/tasting the fumes--which I'm still experiencing now--a day later.

I have several questions relating to my experience:

1) Should I still continue to take the ACV until I'm completely better? I'm concerned that if I continue taking it I'll eventually burn a hole through my stomach.

2) I heard raw garlic is a great remedy for salmonella poisoning and would like to go back to taking that (which I did for two days). However, I read that it, too, can cause stomach bleeding. Should I start taking that again? If so, how much? I took 4 cloves the first day and 8 cloves the second day.

3) The active charcoal still feels like it's sitting in my stomach a day later. Is this normal? Should I be taking more of it or wait until it's digested?

4) Should I take any kinds of supplements or just rest my stomach for a day? I think I should wait a day before taking anything, but I also don't want to develop more serious problems.

Any feedback, insight, or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi! I have several questions about using Apple Cider Vinegar, Activated Charcoal, and Garlic for a family member who has a bad case of food poisoning from 4 partially cooked eggs.

She noticed her stomach is sore after using ACV for two days. She took 2 tbsp with water twice daily. Can you safely cut back the amount you're taking to 2 tsp twice daily and still get the same results?

We also read that you should keep up this regimen for at least 10 days or until symptoms subside. Is this generally true?

What is the recommended dose for Activated Charcoal? I read that a naturopath recommended that a woman take 3-4 capsules twice daily for food poisoning.

We heard raw garlic is good for salmonella poisoning. What is the recommended dose for garlic? One clove? Two cloves? Three or four cloves? How many times daily?

Sincerely, Yvette

Melissa, if I were you I would let at least a whole day go by without any remedies, but WITH lots of water to drink.

As far as the food poisoning issue or nay kind of poisoning issue, I like the activated charcoal. To my knowledge there is no limit on how much you can take. It is completely inert. I have never heard of anyone dying from an Activated Charcoal Overdose. You might need to eat some extra oil like coconut oil or Extra virgin Olive oil to help the stool pass, but other than that I don't know of any danger. If you are still feeling sick then I'd do another dose until you don't feel sick anymore. You will have to determine for yourself how long you want to wait between doses. Some times I will wait ten minutes, some times twenty depending upon how bad I feel at the time. Just a matter of determining how you feel at the moment. I'll take a tablespoon in water, and then after a while I'll do another and if I still feel bad, I'll do another. What I do is put a scoop into a glass and then put in distilled water into the glass and I chug it.

Food Poisoning:

I use Arsenicum Album 6X from the homeopathy section at the healthfood store at the first sign of trouble every hour or so. It not immediate but usually is over with in 8 hours as opposed to 3 days.

After coming home from a pizza restaurant at the weekend I suddenly felt woozy and had very bad diarrhea. Afterwards I felt a bit weak and had a strong craving for black tea.

The black tea settled my stomach really quickly. Usually when I have a bad stomach like this I feel ill for days afterwards and have several episodes of diarrhea. But after the black tea I felt no ill effects, I just felt normal like I was well.

I avoided eating much the next day to be on the safe side, but felt completely fine. Apparently black tea works for diarrhea because it contains tannins which are binding.

is my go to if I have food poisoning:

  • Colloidal silver
  • Aluminium free baking soda
  • Activated charcoal

If i want the Colloidal silver to be more effective, I add 3-6 drops of DMSO with it.

KenValoa Kuki, I am a fan of silver and I was wondering where you found information to suggest that adding 3~6 drops of DMSO to the oral intake of colloidal silver will give added benefit? I also was wondering if you add the DMSO directly to the silver nanoparticles and then drink this mix? Thank you! Art

Editor's Choice

Worst case of Food poisoning I ever had in my 60 some years. I ate some baby spinach mix that was 4 days old and didn't wash it, silly me. The cramps were terrible, I could hardly breathe without pain. I have been making and taking colloidal silver for 20 years, so the first thing I tried was a swig (aprox 1/2 oz) colloidal silver at 15ppm, no help. Then I tried a couple spoons of cider vinegar in water, about 20 mins after I stopped the dry heaves, I would feel better for 2hrs, get a bit of sleep and wake up with nasty cramps. Tried this 3 times but every time the cramps came back worse. In desperation I made a batch of colloidal silver at 50ppm, I only use this rate for eyedrops and wounds, too strong for daily use, you might turn blue. Two swigs and 20mins later the pain was gone, I was feeling good enough to eat some yogurt and it felt good to eat again.

In my life, one of the most valuable things I've learned is the prudent use of colloidal silver. I started using it because I had Impetigo and although CS didn't cure it, the frequency and intensity of the infection was significantly reduced. I was a smoker when I started taking it, I had a lot of upper respiratory infections, skin infections and always caught whatever was going around. I haven't had the flu in years, seldom catch colds, can't remember when a skin cut got infected. If everyone took this the world would be a better place, the medical profession considers colloidal silver to be quackery and of course it won't cure all infections but the benefits outweigh the risks, sometimes I think they're the quacks.(Present company excepted).

I must have the worst case of salmonella on earth... took apple cider vinegar for over 24 hrs, it did nothing! Then tried eating a minced garlic clove; barfed it up in under 2 minutes, no relief at all.

But then I remembered (duh) the colloidal silver solution I keep for bronchial issues... the instruction-sheet says you can also take it for food poisoning, 1 teaspoon "every hr if necessary." Took 1 t, instantly tried to barf that up too, but you can't really regurgitate nano-particles, you know? In less than an hour I felt some relief!

Have been taking 1 t every hr (while awake) and it's helping dramatically. I can feel that it's finally killing it off, and I'm finally eating some solid food again.
