A new Yahoo website has been created for people who wish to discuss the use of BHT [ butylated hydroxytoluene ] as a treatment for hepatitis C and other viral diseases. Any and all who wish to discuss this subject are hereby informed that: BHT [ butylated hydroxytoluene ] is NOT an approved treatment for hepatitis C or any other disease. BHT is approved as a food preservative only and nothing else. Here is a link to that website: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/BHTcures/

I, Oscar, am a member of this group. This group will provide a forum for us to discuss the use of BHT as an alternative treatment for lipid coated viral diseases. That is the focus of this group....Oscar

Hi Oscar and everyone, I am planning to try BHT. Does anyone know if Australian customs will clear if I bring in 6-10 bottles?

Oscar, what is the most safe dose as of now for Hep C, 1a with F1 (minimal fibrosis)?

Thanks all.

Dear Oscar, been following the BHT thread allready for awhile. I am 73 and have probably had Hep C since I was 31, that means about 42 years. I started about a two weeks ago on 250 mg capsules three times a day on empty stomach. I have HCV type 1b, last VL Count 2, 3 million viral load. My ALTs remain steady averaging 55 and AST remain steady averaging 65. I have not had a treatment yet as a friend ( MD ) said it is not necessary and that the complications and besid effects are extremly high.

In addition to the new treatment with BHT for 8 years already I inject myself with mistletoe of the oak as a 20mg injection 3 times a week

Other preparations ( daily medication )
Vitamin C 1000mg
Vitamin B-12 1000mcg
Vitamin B-6 100mg
Omega 3 1000mg
Milkthistle 1000mg
Solanum Lycopersicum D2
Hepatodoron
I think with this therapy, it should keep the viral load and the AST - ALT
to the above-mentioned values.
My dream would be to root out my Hepatitis C with BHT completely.

I do not have any extraordinary physical results, but the change after the first three days in how I feel mentally and emotionally is tremendous. Only two weeks ago I was completely consumed by how poorly I felt and how worried I was about my future. Because your persistence, and the responses of some of you who are also trying this treatment, I started, and I urge anyone who is on the fence about BHT to follow the wellknown- advise too. I will post an upgrade of my new results on my viral load, AST and ALT in a month or so and wish all of you all the best.

Hello Oscar, after a month of BHT-treatment I have received the latest upgrade of my blood test results. I got my viral load results today and while not cleared I am improved.

Here are my recent results from 03.14.2012 followed by the prior results:

14th March 2012

Viral load: 1, 23 million

AST 50

ALT 54

10th January 2012

Viral load: 2, 3 million

AST 65,

ALT 55

I am really happy. I still feel very good, absolutely no side effects. Currently I take 3 x 250mg daily BHT. Maybe I will increasing the dose from 3 x 250mg BHT to 4x 2 50mg BHT. You may have a few suggestions to reduce the viral load even more?

With best regards

Paul

Dear Paul and Karin from Otterndorf, Deutschland [ Germany ]. I want to thank you both for your VERY important feedback regarding BHT as a treatment for hepatitis C and herpes also. This herpes is an important issue also. The different herpes viruses are very troublesome in and of themselves and can lead to more serious conditions including some forms of cancer.

As I told you previously: BHT is NOT a miracle but it is surely a blessing. Now there is every reason to believe that BHT is an effective treatment for both hepatitis C, B and the different herpes viruses.

It is my new updated opinion based on the feedback available and those toxicology reports I have discussed in the past that: It is best to take the BHT with some sort of fruit juice as opposed to water. This provides for an adequate source of the sugar glucose. There are different sugars and glucose is the desired sugar. Fruit juices contain glucose. Grape juice is a good one. So are many other fruit juices.

It has come to my attention after rereading the different toxicology reports that glucose plays a crucial role in the metabolism of BHT. Now glucose exists in your blood pretty much at all time. BUT, I do think taking the BHT with a fruit juice will help a lot.

We are coming up with some real and important answers as to how best to use BHT here in this forum. So please feep this forum updated with your results. There is a discussion group devoted to BHT therapy. I am a member of this group and encourage you both to join in this discussion here: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/BHTcures/

Thank you both so very much for this ALL important feedback. Without such feedback this project would go nowhere....Oscar

Remember: 10th January 2012 I was:

Viral load: 2,3 million UI/l
AST 65,
ALT 55

In addition to the special treatment with BHT, for 10 years already I inject myself with mistletoe of the oak as a 20mg injection 3 times a week.

And now in addition to all the stuff below

I try high doses of vitamin B12 B12 (5000micrograms) injections for a month.
I'm doing the injection subcutaneously in the thigh twice a week.

Hi Oscar,

I am planning to take BHT for GH. But I am thinking of applying a mixture of BHT and DMSO topically at the tail bone area and where the lesions usually break out. As it is well known that the GH virus hides in lower spine area and DMSO is such an excellent carrier, what do you think of this strategy? Do you think it is dangerous to do it this way?

Should I also take it internally in addition to the above mentioned strategy?

I was considering doing a multi-pronged attack (Olive Leaf Extract, Lecithin, L-Lysine, H2O2 + DMSO) at the same time as I am determined to get rid of this virus from my system. But I read you mentioned that BHT does not work well when combined with other treatments. So I am now considering doing BHT alone strictly but I want to see if attacking it at the place where it hides with the help of DMSO might be a good strategy. I'd very much appreciate it if you could please reply with your thoughts on this?

And thanks for all that you have done in helping a lot of sufferers by bringing to light the benefits of BHT.

Dear Anon from St.Charles, MO: What is GH ? Genital Herpes ? If it is then taking BHT internally and externally should help a LOT. Many people have cured this infection with a daily dose of 250mg to 500mg of BHT taken as a capsule internally. Also, BHT dissolved in isopropanol has been shown to be effective as a topical treatment ONLY. Isopronanol is toxic taken internally. You WILL get VERY sick if you drink isopropanol.

NOW DMSO is a very powerful solvent. Has been shown to penetrate even finger and toenails. This can be dangerous. Why not use BHT as prescribed in a relatively safe way and see if it works or not ? There is a VERY good chance it will work.

I have never used DMSO and therefore have NO opinion about it....Oscar

Yes Oscar, I meant Genital Herpes HSV2. Thank you for the quick reply. I will start with internal dose of 250mg and work up to 500mg a day. I intend to take it as long as it takes to cure this viral infection. I have had this for about 7 years with 2 to 3 break outs a year but I want to cure it now and do not want to pass it to my partner.

In Fowles book he suggests mixing with coconut oil for topical application. Do you think isopropanol is better? Should I just mix it with isopropanol or does it require heating?

Hello Anon from MO, My opinion based on my experience with using BHT and that of many others is: BHT taken internally in a dosage of 250mg to 500mg per day with a gulp of water on an empty stomach is VERY effective as a treatment for ALL the herpes viruses [ both oral and genital herpes viruses. There ARE many variants ].

So there is the internal route that in my opinion eventually leads to a true CURE as opposed to treating symptoms.

But this in NO way rules out BHT as a topical treatment also. In fact one or more of the original researchers who discovered that BHT is an effective treatment for theoretically ALL lipid coated viruses filed for a patent for BHT mixed in an alcohol as a TOPICAL treatment for herpes viruses. There are many so called alcohols. My experience with using ISOPROPANOL as the solvent is that: BHT readily dissolves in isopropanol and that said isopropanol is a good and relatively safe choice as a solvent for BHT as a TOPICAL treatment. NEVER drink isopropanol. Isopropanol is often called " rubbing alcohol " . It evaporates very rapidly. This causes a drying effect that rapidly kills a very many microbes of all types. That is why it is used to sterilize wounds. It can also be used to reduce a person`s temperature in emergency situations by swabbing the chest with isopropanol. So as a topical treatment it is considered safe to use.

So when you combine the effects of both BHT and isopropanol you have a very powerful TOPICAL treatment for those open sores that occur with both genital and oral herpes.

If BHT is mixed in ANY oil you will NOT get that important drying effect. Everything I know about the use of BHT tells me ISOPROPANOL is or makes for the best solvent when using BHT as a topical treatment for herpes sores and also FUNGAL infections. A final note: There is NO need to heat this mixture. Please: Do NOT complicate this simple but effective treatment....Oscar

Oscar,

Thank you so much for the detailed explanation. I will start with 250mg/day and work up to 500mg/day internally on empty stomach with a gulp of water in 2 divided doses. Simultaneously, I will also apply isopropanol + BHT topically on a daily basis in the effected areas, even when no break outs.

Thanks for your wisdom and willingness to help other sufferers.

Dear Anon from MO, Please do NOT overdo this BHT treatment. Some is good does not mean more is better.

You have it right as to BHT taken internally: one 250mg of BHT with a gulp of water one or twice a day.

BUT, I only use the BHT dissolved in isopropanol as discussed every 4 or 5 days. NOT every day. BHT is powerful stuff and PLEASE do NOT over use it. If any adverse reactions occur do back off or use less of this treatment. If any soreness occurs in the treated areas you ARE over doing it....Oscar

Hi Oscar,

I started BHT at 250mg/day for a week and then upped it to 250mg twice a day. It has been about a little more than 2 weeks since I started BHT for genital herpes.

I also applied isopropanol + BHT mix initially for 3 days in a row and then slowed it down to once in every 4 or 5 days per your advice.

What I am noticing for the last 5 days or so is that it seems like the virus is trying to break out. I get the slight burning sensation but no visible signs or full blown breakout.

Does it mean that the BHT is fighting the virus and actively killing it? Interesting that I am having these symptom soon after I started taking BHT after being breakout-free for 5 months. Is it possible that BHT is causing some sort of die-off reaction? I certainly would hope so. I would like to believe that the virus is being chased out of its hiding spots and then getting killed.

Is it at all possible that it might get worse before it gets better? Just want to know what I am supposed to expect as part of the curing process.

As always, appreciate your time in willingness to help others.

Anon from St. Charles, MO: It seems to me the BHT treatment is working for you because you do not develop actual herpes sores. I do know what you mean when you describe feeling a sore coming on. I did have the oral type herpes sores many years ago. When that happens: take an additional 250mg capsule of BHT at that time. This will help ensure that no sores develop.

From everything you have been reporting the BHT treatment is working for your herpes infection. Just keep doing what you have been with that additional 250mg capsule any time you fell a sore developing. The BHT really does work well for most people who have herpes infections of all types. Used with the caution I have discussed it is for most but not all people a safe and effective treatment for herpes infections....Oscar

Yeyyy, thank you Oscar!

I did not take any extra dosage orally but I did apply the alcohol mix topically a couple of nights ago (only two days apart from my previous application, not 4 to 5 days like I had been doing). By next morning, it was almost gone. Not completely gone but the burn is gone. I might still be shedding the virus though.

From now on, if I feel like coming down with it next time, I will alternate an extra 250mg orally and do a topical the next day if I still feel the burn/itch.

And onward and upward I go with my daily 2x oral dosage routine with an occasional topical :-) My ultimate goal is to completely get rid of this from my system so I won't pass it on to my partner.

Thanks again for the encouraging response.

I have received the following two reports from John regarding how very well the BHT is working as a treatment for his herpes infection. John uses a cell phone to post with and has problems posting in some forums. Anyway this IS what John has reported to me:

Oscar- I have been taking BHT to treat herpes for 1 year. I have not had one outbreak since I started taking 2 x 350mg per day of BHT. I have had 3 igG herpes blood tests since starting BHT and each one has resulted in a progressively lower result, and the last test about 4 months ago is close to an equivocal reading.

You have mentioned on a few postings that you have not had a herpes outbreak in years. As you are aware, herpes is different than hepatitis C in that it can hide in the nervous system. I know that you have been dealing with more serious health issues than herpes; however, I have a request that may provide valuable information and hope to those fighting herpes. Would it be possible for you to get an igG test for the herpes virus to see if the result is negative?

All the best to you, John

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Update from John sent July 25, 2013

As Oscar mentioned, I have been taking bht about 2 years to treat hsv. As an update to my hsv testing, after 3 increasingly lower igG blood tests over a period of 3 years, the last test showed a slightly higher result at 1. 50. I was a bit concerned about this until I read that any result under 3 maybe a false positive. Last week, I took a different type of test, a biokit type, and the result was negative. Don't know what to think now. The experts say that the gold standard test is a western blot test, and perhaps one day I will take that test. I am sort of stubborn though and intend to keep taking bht and take a few more igG tests in hopes of an eventual igG negative result.

Hi. I'm writing with a few questions in regards to the use of BHT. I have been using it for GH for about 4 weeks without much success. I have had GH for 10 years now and never had the need to be on medication except a month before delivering my babies (twice). This year for some reason I have had non stop outbreaks. It has gotten progressively worse in the last 4 months to the point that they seem to never go away. I only get one lesion internally which wasn't my usual breakout lesion. I am desperate. BHT hasn't helped at all. I have tried empty stomach with coconut oil. I'm currently taking pills. 3 a day. 350 mg. Started with one, then a few days later went up to 2, a week later 3. And still no sign of improvement. I'm not getting all the symptoms full strength most times such as the herpetic neuralgia on my right hip and leg (side of the lesion). I get no itch, just pain on the lesion. I have tried opening up a few pills and diluting them in the coconut oil during the last week but I still take a pill accompanied by a spoonful or two of the diluted mixture. I am a 36 year old female. 120 lbs 5'4". Don't have any other health issues. Recently got a physical and blood work did not reveal any deficiencies that could explain the constant outbreaks. Really need help. Any suggestions please.

Hi Rocio,

HSV 1 as well as HSV 2 are viruses, of course. BHT may work well according to Oscar oft posted on Earth Clinic. But if no luck with BHT and your non-Hep B or C virus, then PLEASE try a STRONG (high PPM) of Colloidal Silver. (BHT appears to work well on Hep B and C.)

You can apply Silver topically to affected area AND orally on empty stomach. You need two tablespoons three times daily. Now that you are having constant outbreaks you can rest ASSURED that the virus is now SYSTEMIC. That is it is throughout your body. It will take six months to eliminate the virus completely, but be patient. I've seen many, many cases where systemic viral/fungal infections are reversed with CS.

Also, you need to be on the herb echinacea. Five drops in glass of purified water twice daily for a month. Like CS you can apply echinacea topically.

Echinacea is excellent for killing all kinds of infectious microbes and I've used it successfully for very bad spider bites for instance. Applied topically, I repeat the application on the site and then re apply twice every hour... Total three to five times in a day. Do this for up to three days.

Hi Rocio... You may want to add Monolaurin to your regimen... also to kick up your immune system you could add Astragalus or even AHCC (expensive)..

I noticed recently that Dr. Weil has endorsed the use of monolaurin... Quote.. "Monolaurin is believed to have the potential to permanently inactivate the fat coated viruses that cause these diseases by fluidizing the lipids (fats) and phospholipids in their envelopes, leading to the disintegration of viral particles."

I noticed iHerb sells monolaurin .. & there is another brand ...Laura....n

Also, Lypospheric Vitamin C gives a fast boost to your immune system and is a good addition to fighting viruses.. Unfortunately, it too is expensive... (overpriced in my opinion, but I still buy it)

With regards to the colloidal silver.. Not to contradict your post, but please be cautious with this stuff.. There is a person in my neighborhood with Argyria, caused by an over use of colloidal silver. Seeing him on occasion was enough to scare me away from the stuff.

Hello Rob,

Maybe you could help solve a mystery of HOW those who have argyria made their silver. Or what is the source of their silver. Those of us who make our own are mystified at such cases. I've consumed my own for over 19 years... Often five times a week and my skin is very white. I've given hundreds of bottles away and never has anyone turned grey or blue. The old method was to use a silver spoon in a cup and then with tanic acid, the silver over a few days would break off. That would then be consumed. ("Blue bloods" is the term that was used to describe those who had money enough to own silver... Or "born with a silver spoon in your mouth" for the children who would be given silver spoons to suck on when an infection was about and whose skin was apparently effected by such consumption. ) The Greeks over 2, 000 years ago silver plated their food plates with it because they recognized the benefits of eating off such plates and silver coated goblets.

I do not even know anyone who has argyria nor have I ever seen one. You'd think with the hundreds of thousands of people who do consume CS that blue people would be everywhere. Universally today, pure silver "rods" are used... A little thicker than a paper clip and those attached to batteries or an outlet and in minutes a cloud of silver is broken off the "rods"... And that cup of clouded water is diluted until one cannot see the presence of any addition nor can one taste any metalic addition. The Parts Per Million would be about 100 PPM (100 atoms of silver to one MILLION molecules of water). And the silver "rods" I started with nearly 20 years ago... Are the same ones I still use. So little silver is used... microscopic amounts are what we are talking about.

So here is what I'd appreciate: Anyone who has argyria or knows someone with the stain, could you please enlighten us as to HOW they prepared their silver. It's sort of like complaining that too much water can damage you... So don't drink water. Yeah, too much water can actually kill you... especially if you are face down in it for a few minutes.

So PLEASE help... For those of us who know first hand how effective CS is... let us know how those who have been "overdosed" have prepared their mixture.

What I want to know is just how the ones who have argyria prepared their silver. Step by step and the amount of silver water consumed and if it was a compound that they actually consumed. Did they take it as a "cream" form? Where did they get it if they did not make it themselves? How long did they take it?... That is for a month; years etc. Please, every detail would help explain what happened.

Rob, could you talk to that person in your neighborhood and get some info as desired above. Thousands of CS makers would be grateful.

Thanks for your responses. Yes. I am on a supplements as well. Lysine, vitamin B12, vitamin C, Herpeeze which contains a whole bunch of things, olive leaf, oil of oregano, cayenne pepper for the neuralgia, multivitamin, St Johns wort, echinacea, Astragalus, ashwagandha. I was on monolaurin and lauricidin for 4 months and it didn't help. So I stopped taking it. Maybe should take it now that I'm taking BHT. Was on Valtrex 1- 2 grams a day and still having outbreaks, switched to Famvir and still the same. Tried colloidal silver or 2 weeks and didn't see improvement. Running out of options here. Hope that something works.

Hello again Rocio,

Thanks for responding to my post to your original post. I'd recommended Colloidal Silver and observed that you had occasional outbreaks over the years but now it is constant which led me to conclude that the virus is now systemic throughout your system. You commented back that you had tried CS for two weeks.

In my post to you I said it would take many months to kill a system wide infection. If you revisit my suggestion the amount of time for dealing with a system wide infection is a lengthy one and also I recommended echinacia, if I recall correctly. Both, CS and echinacea can be applied topically too. Finally, look at the ppm on the label. Make sure the ppm is sufficient. I recommend one of over 100 ppm. The ones that say 5 ppm, I have little confidence in.

Hi. Thanks for all suggestions. It's just puzzling how 10 years go by without major problems and in 9 months my life has been turned upside down by this.

I've changed my diet since I started having frequent outbreaks. I used to be able to eat anything except peanuts and not have an outbreak. Guess I didnt kniw how lucky I was all that time. Now it's no sodas diet or not. Almost eliminated all sugar and bread. No juices. Just drink water with lemon for PH. I have been taking ACV 3 times a day in the last 2 weeks. 2-3 garlic cloves a day. Salads, fruit, Greek yogurt with a drizzle of honey, eggs, cheese, turkey, chicken, veggies.

I have lost 15 lbs due to my diet change. Used to jog but stopped for 3 months thinking it may be the cause. But started doing it again. Used to practice hot yoga and stopped that too thinking it was causing stress on my body.

Lloyd. I will try the CS. The one I took before was 250 Ppm from Natural path silver wings. I drink Echinacea tea 2 times a day as well as lemon balm tea. Like I've said before, I've tried it all. Spent so much money on it all and seen little to no change. I've tried all natural stuff and now trying BHT for a month and still having outbreaks. It's very frustrating.

My ob/gyn put me on anti anxiety meds thinking it may be the cause but how can I not be anxious when I keep having weekly episodes...

Thanks all for kind replies.

Hello Rocio,

On the echinacea, use the liquid found in health food stores. It is a concentrate that is medicinal... Important to apply topically as well as four or five drops in water and that drink three times daily. A "tea" is not strong enough. Putting both the C Silver on topically as well as orally is the strategy.

I've made my own for 20 years and have found some producers make varieties that just don't seem to work. By way of example I had obtained a "super fine superior" CS and was experimenting with it in my sinus and a sinus cold actually started while I was using this "super" silver... The cold got worse even as I increased the dose and finally, after two days used my own home made version and INSTANTLY the infection was gone. To know if you have the most effective CS use the brand you have been using on.... Say on a sore throat... The brand of CS should knock that out instantly... After two "gargles"... if it doesn't then the type of CS being used is actually inferior despite the claims on the label being "the best" etc.

Oh, and about the echinacea, I've seen some writers who don't like the echinacea being used orally for more than a few months. But one book I read by a Doctor around the 1900s used it to treat spider bites had his patients drinking it (five drops in water) four or five times daily for six months made no mention of adverse effects from such heavy consumption.

Yes, that bald spot is gone and my hair is much less grey. I used to have a bald spot about 4 inches in diameter. That bald spot is GONE. And my hair is getting darker.

Since and only since I have been taking one 350mg of BHT every day this improvement in the condition of my hair has improved the in the ways I just described. Have any other BHT users noticed a dramatic improvement in baldness and hair color ? ...Oscar

To Oscar Syracuse, New York

Dear Oscar,

This is my first post as I found this web site about one month ago. I am a doctor of 60 years. In my youth I contracted the Hepatitis B, completely solved. In the 1975, I contracted the Hepatitis C genotype 1b. From there, I made routine examinations, always with borderline results, except Gamma GT which was double norm value.

In these last months, after 2 biopsies, I was been diagnosted Hepatic Cirrosis 4th stage; I made many echographies with contrast and many TAC with contrast: hepatocellular carcynoma was diagnosted. One month ago, surgical procedure TACE was applied. I am waiting for the next TAC control at the end of April.

At the moment I do not follow any theraphy for treatment of this disease.

Note that I am using drugs for depressive insomnia (Gabapentin twice a day, Mirtazapin once a day, Citalopram 20mg once a day day, Lormetazepam once per day).

I read all your answers about BHT treatment. I would like to start the BHT treatment for myself with increasing dosage with the following steps:

  • 1th day 50mg, once a day
  • 2nd day 100mg, once a day
  • 3rd day 150mg, once a day
  • 4rd day 200mg, once a day
  • From 5 to 14 day, 250mg, once a day
  • 15th day 300mg, once a day
  • From 16th day, for 2 weeks, 350mg, once a day

At the end of the previous schedule, it starts a new session for upgrading the therapy by increasing the last dose with a second dose with the following schema:

  • 1th day 50mg
  • 2nd day 100mg
  • 3rd day 150mg
  • 4rd day 200mg
  • From 5 to 14 day, 250mg
  • 15th day 300mg
  • From 16th day, for 2 weeks, 350mg.

So, at the end of the 2.nd month, in absence of adverse effects, I will have a therapy of 350mg twice a day, that I plan to continue indefinitely.

Of course, the therapy will be stopped, or reduced, in case of any adverse effect. I know that the BHT therapy has to be taken at empty stomach and far away (2-3 hours) from foods and drugs. At the moment, I still follow a therapy for treating Hepatitis C, Cirrosis and cancer: Nattochinase, Serrapeptase, Acid alphalipoic, Ldnaltrexone 4.5mg, Selenium, Lipid Monolaurin, anticarcinoma Budwitt diet (based on faxseed oil and chottage cheese).

I would like to know if my therapy BHT plan is correct or not. Thank you for your advices Sincerely regards Ugo

Dear Ugo from Italy: You state that you are a doctor. For that reason I do assume you are up on the newly available treatments for hepatitis C. Have you tried said treatments or not ?

Also, from what you stated you are in the advanced stages of cirrhosis along with indications of liver cancer. Is this true or not ?

Now please do NOT get discouraged. I need to know all that you are up against.

The BHT regime you outlined is a VERY good one. It carefully ramps up the dosage of BHT with the necessary attention to BHT`s effect on or for you.

The good news is BHT has worked for people with advanced stages of cirrhosis. Also: BHT in the dosages we are discussing showed a dramatic lifespan increase in mice prone to cancer. See Dr. Denham Harman`s studies about that. This is because BHT is a well documented so called scavenger of free radicals and reactive oxygen species. A simple but important example is the hydroxyl free radical [ . OH ]. BHT readily donates a hydrogen atom to [ .OH ] . [ .OH ] + [ .H ] does = [ H-O-H ]. WATER. The same is true for the free radical [ .CH3 ] + [ .H ] does = [ CH4 ] METHANE. A stable and relatively nonreactive molecule.

BHT is about 320 times more effective as a hydrogen atom donator as is say vitamin E. This is a result of those tightly packed tert-butyl groups. BHT has two said tert-butyl groups. The torque and bending of those hydrogen atoms on those tert-butyl groups weakens the carbon atom to hydrogen atom bonds on those hydrogen atoms.

The overall effect of all that is that BHT very much enhances a person`s ability to cope with said free radicals and Reactive Oxygen Species.

The reason BHT does destroy lipid coated viruses is all about BHT`s size and lipophilic makeup. We are really talking about the metabolites of BHT, the altered compounds that enter the bloodstream.

Simply stated: The metabolites of BHT are somewhat water soluble but still highly lipophilic.

Please stay in touch with this forum whatever happens. I do NOT know what else I can say. Of course I hope for the best for you with or without BHT....Oscar

Dear Oscar, thank you for your answer.

I confirm my diagnosis of Hepatic Cirrosis 4th stage with livel cancer.

One month ago the cancer was treated with Transarterial embolization (TAE) and the next echography gave no clear results about the real effects of the procedure. I am waiting for a TAC control (in the next weeks).

In this situation I have to treat the Cirrosis and the cancer.

As I told you in my first post, I plan to use the BHT treatment for the cirrosis and other drugs/substances for the cancer.

What I would like to know is their compatibility with the BHT therapy. I remind you the list:

  • nattochinase
  • serrapeptase
  • alpha lipoic acid
  • ld naltrexone 4,5mg
  • selenium
  • lipid monolaurin
  • Budwig diet (flaxseed oil and chottage cheese)

Thanks!

Dear Ugo [ Italy ], I have thought about you a lot since I last responded to you. I am concerned that the two doses of 350mg of BHT per day may be too much. Weight and age are important. The less you weigh and the older you are: The more careful you need to be with taking BHT.

Careful monitoring of your liver function tests should provide meaningful answers as too how much BHT you should be taking.

You discussed carefully ramping up your dosage of BHT. I do suggest at whatever dosage of BHT you are taking be leveled out at whatever dose you are taking once your liver function tests start to get worse if they do. Two 350mg of BHT does seem like too much unless you weigh more than 200 pounds.

I weighed about 170 pounds when I successfully treated myself for hepatitis C. I was only using TWO 200mg capsules of BHT at the most. So that is 400mg of BHT per day. I was close to 48 years old at that time. When I started the treatment I was 47 but became 48 in a few months of starting the BHT treatment.

Careful monitoring of your liver function is required for successful treatment for people in advanced stages of liver disease as you are.

Now you are a doctor and I do expect you understand what I am talking about. So again: If at any given dosage of BHT your liver function test results get worse, LOWER THE DOSAGE OF BHT TAKEN.

Look, I am very much hoping for the best for you with this BHT treatment. And careful dosing with those all important liver function tests is the ONLY way to establish what is the correct dosage for YOU.

Now you asked me about the advisability of 7 different compounds. From the feedback available: the selenium, and monolaurin should work fine taken in reasonable dosages. The others I really do not know about.

All I have to work with is the feedback available. NO one has ever done ANY clinical research as to what works with the BHT treatment and that which does not work well with BHT.

On a positive note: There was and is an: "S. from Sacramento" who did have stage 4 liver damage and also seemed to have liver cancer as posted in this forum. S was seeing an ONCOLOGIST [ CANCER DOCTOR ] and had very good results with the BHT treatment.

S. from Sacramento is the closest case history of the use of BHT to treat hepatitis C, I know of as to your situation.

This case history is there in the EARTH CLINIC`s archives SOMEWHERE. I will try and find it and if I do find it post a follow up to this response.

Also Ugo, Please never confuse me as being a Medical Doctor. I am NOT an MD or anything close to being one....Oscar

Hi Ugo...The BHT therapy that Oscar recommends is not compatible with the therapy that you have devised for yourself. The reason for this is because BHT is a xenobiotic.

Your own therapy, as well as being highly beneficial for the liver, also contains nutrients that will actively remove xenobiotics like BHT. A xenobiotic is a substance or chemical that the human body does not recognize. So nutrients such as ALA will also actively remove BHT from the body, thus neutralizing any beneficial effects of both the BHT and ALA -- not what you want!!

Your own protocol seems to be very loosely based on Dr Burt Berkson's Triple Anti-oxidant Therapy which, from the research, has been highly successful against Hepatitis C, Liver Cancer, Pancreatic Cancer and Cirrhosis.

In a nutshell, Dr Berkson's therapy consists of :

* Oral ALA (300 mgs twice a day with meals)

* Milk Thistle -- 450 mgs twice a day with meals.

* Selenium -- 200 mcgs twice a day with meals.

* Low dose naltrexone -- up to 4.5 mgs taken in the evening with water.

* ALA by IV or injection -- very important.

* B Complex Vitamins -- Taken daily because ALA depletes thiamin, niacin and riboflavin.

* Clean diet

See Dr Berkson's research here, here and here.

The other thing that I must emphasize in your own protocol is that to have a greater measure of success against your cirrhosis and cancer -- you must also take the ALA periodically and regularly by injection or by IV. And since you are a doctor -- this should not really be a problem for you.

So the gist of the above message is -- No, you should not combine your own therapy with BHT. If you decide to take the BHT protocol that Oscar recommends then its best to take it on its own with no other nutrients for best effect.

Dear Oscar,

I am writing after many months, because in this period I performed antiviral treatment Harvoni (Ledipasvir 90mg / 400mg sofosbuvir), 1 cp in the morning for six months.

Such treatment has led to the complete eradication of the virus and the improvement of all liver life parameters. Examinations were performed immediately after the end of the treatment, after one month and after two months; the same examinations are programmed after 6 months and after one year, as long as nothing happens again.

I will have also ultrasound scans with contrast, CT or MR with contrast. Ultrasounds every month, the CT or MR according to the ultrasound findings.

I did not start yet the treatment with BHT, as you suggested, but I plan to begin it in next days and after your advices.

Now I have some important questions concerning the hepatic cirrhosis which appeared several years after the infection of Hepatitis C, cirrhosis that in these last 6 months has got to give initial failure signs with marked edema of lower limbs, but in absence of any involvement with internal cavities.

Moreover, ultrasound examinations revealed the presence of HCC, confirmed by CT and MR with contrast. It was treated, according to the examination results, with 2 consecutive ablations with embolectomy without chemical compound.

This modified TACE, led to a reduction but not to the disappearance of the cancer.

My colleagues proposed a third embolectomy or a chemical ablation with ethanol inoculated into the carcinoma.

Known that there are still many uncertainties about the best action to take, discarding obviously the partial hepatectomy resection because, in the dimension of a debulking surgery, we can not ignore this neoplastic evolution of the hepatic cirrhotic tissue and possible metastases "viciniori" or distant and systemic involvement.

At this point, dear Oscar, I can not ask my colleagues who don't have the holistic, ethnic knowledge to read my illness. I will interpret the situation with the knowledge I have learned from ethnic, naturopathic and holistic medicine.

So I ask you if the BHT, at doses indicated in your protocols, is able to subdue the liver cirrhosis. Moreover I plan to support the BHT therapy with enzymatic treatments: nattokinase, bromelain, and others that were experimentally identified by the official medicine as scavenger, ie forming of progressive, continuous niches into fibrotic cirrogenous tissue, so digested and over time replaced by normal hepatocytes.

At the same time I would like to implement a per-os antineoplastic therapy, according to the following scheme: Paw Paw Cell-Reg (Natures Sunshine), 3 cps twice a day; Sutherlandia OPC, 3 cps 3 times a day; Amla (Phyllanthus Emblica) 1 cap daily, Viscum album European, 2 cps twice a day; Viola Tricolor, 1 cap 2 times a day; Mangosteen Plus, 1 cap daily; Ganoderma Lucidum (Reishi), 1 cap twice a day; Cordyceps Sinensis (tonchukso), 1 cap twice a day.

Dear Ugo, I am NOT a doctor and I have NO colleges. From what you said: The " HARVONI " treatment cured you of hepatitis C.

But you now have liver cancer and edema. Have you seen a heart doctor regarding the edema? There are many causes for edema and heart problems is one of them, especially when swelling of the lower legs is a symptom.

The ONLY reason I know of for thinking BHT may help you is some studies Dr. Denham Harman did with mice that were prone to dying of cancer. By treating them with BHT he managed to extend their average lifespans about 45%.

His reasoning was that BHT is a very powerful so called anti-oxident and free radical scavenger. This ability of BHT to deactivate free radicals is not in doubt. It is used as such to treat foodstuffs, fuels such as gasoline, rubber, plastics and more and has been since the 1950`s.

And free radicals play an important role in cancer. So the BHT used in the moderate dosages I have discussed might help.

I have NO knowledge or opinion on the many other compounds or substances you discussed. Trying to help, ...Oscar

Dear Lana [ Raleigh, NC ]: Gee, I do not the rules as to getting government help for treating hepatitis C. So you are telling me you have to have cirrhosis of the liver to get such help. That is a shame and makes no sense, but is NOT a big surprise. It does at times seem to me that some not very bright people are in control of our NATION`S so called health care system.

Why wait until people are seriously ill or sick with hepatitis C before help is available ? The sicker people are the harder hepatitis C is to treat. Everything gets more complicated as this disease progresses. Hopefully that will change in the near future.

But I will focus on you as things are NOW. So you are infected with hepatitis C genotype 3. That is a somewhat rare form of hepatitis C. Most of the people I have worked with were TYPE 1s, both subtype A and B. There were some hepatitis genotype 2s in that group I worked with. I do NOT recall even one genotype 3.

But theoretically there is NO reason why the BHT treatment should NOT work for hepatitis C genotype 3. It is a lipid coated virus very much structurally the same as the type 1s and 2s. A discussion of all that is here at wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hepatitis_C_virus#Structure

So why are you not getting the desired results after 2 years of trying this BHT treatment ?

The theory myself and others have discussed is that: BHT is the right size a shape to penetrate the bi-layered lipid coatings the virons are coated with. It is more complex than that because: It is the metabolites of BHT [ altered BHT molecules ] that actually enter the bloodstream as discussed in the different WHO [ World Health Organization ] toxicology reports. Said reports state: A carboxyl group often occurs at the methyl group and hydroxyl groups occur in those two tert-butyl groups during digestion of BHT.

Also that carboxyl group readily combines with the amino acid glycine. It has been my proposal that: Metabolized [ altered ] BHT readily combines with MANY compounds by way of peptide bonds making the combined structures TOO LARGE to penetrate those lipid coatings on those virons. Those two compounds you said you are taking are both large and also have amino groups. It is when amino groups combine with a carboxyl group that these peptide bonds occur.

That is the reason why I suggested you stop taking those two supplements and lets see if that is what is degrading the BHT treatment for you. If I am right about this you should see a rapid decline in that viral load count. I mean rapid. No more than two months. If I am wrong then for reasons unknown to me the BHT treatment is NOT working. There are some other alternative treatments for hepatitis C discussed in this forum. I had very much hoped you could get the NEW treatments right now but you have told me you can not at this time.

I very much HOPE my suggestions work [ stop taking those two compounds discussed ]. If that does not show a rapid decline in that viral load count it seems to me it is time to look into some other treatment....Oscar

Hi Oscar,

My husband has had Hep C for over 30 years and he is 63. He has high anxiety and depression along with fibromyalgia and was not a good (thankfully) candidate for the mainline treatment his Doctor offered him so we went searching online (he was diagnosed in 2005 & remembered he had a bout of Hep ? in the early 1970's after a hernia operation) and found LDN was helping a lot of people and in some cases eliminating the virus altogether. So he tried this for a couple of years along with acupuncture treatments which took his viral load at one point down to 600 from over one million but then for no apparent reason it went up to over 2 million. So...back to the drawing board, so to speak. In April I found an Alternative Doctor who claimed he could & had cured many people in just a couple of months with his Colloidal Silver. Even though we were skeptical we decided to try it and he has taken it for two months and his viral load is now 1.5 million. We stumbled across your blog or forum and are so happy to hear about this and anxious to try it. My husband takes a lot of supplements but is willing to follow your advice and just keep it simple for at least a couple of months. He works though and hopes he is not too fatigued to do his job in the maintenance field. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and knowledge and for bringing some much needed hope and encouragement for Hep C sufferers and their families.

Dear Sherlynn from Russelville , Arkansas: The good news is there is a so called " new generation " of hepatitis C drugs that are now available. These NEW drugs have been shown to be both relatively safe and effective and have the FDA`s approval. I do assume any competent MD is aware of these new drugs. They are expensive but your husband should be eligible to get them through some healthcare program.

There is also BHT that does work extremely well for some if not most people. BHT is very inexpensive and readily available. Because these new drugs are NOW available: I suggest trying the BHT for 8 weeks. If the BHT is working, dramatic improvement should occur within said 8 weeks. By that I mean a return to normal liver function test results along with a NO VIRUS DETECTED result or very low numbers with those viral load count tests.

Now from what you stated: Your husband has held up pretty well up until now. So, if he wishes to give the BHT treatment a try I see no reason not to. But if dramatic improvement does not occur it is time to look into the new generation hepatitis C drugs now available....Oscar

Been taking BHT 350 mg twice a day on empty stomach with a gulp of water. When I started my viral load was 5,200,000. This was June of 2012.S ince then the viral load has jumped to 8,100,000 in June of 2013. Since then my viral load dropped back to 5,300,000. That was in april of 2014. In July of 2014 my viral load dropped to 2,900,000. First time my viral load has improved since taking BHT. It has been over 2 years to see an improvement. I'm having another viral load test done in October. I hope my viral load goes down some more. Maybe 2 years is what it took for the BHT to kick in. I also quit eating so much sugar and honey. To Chadsm138 from Texas, I have always advised caution with the use of BHT. If you choose to try this treatment you have to find a dosage you are OK with. How much do you weigh and how much BHT are you taking ? Generally the less you weigh the less you should be taking. As little as 350mg or less of BHT per day is often enough for a 200 pound person. So if you weigh 150 pounds or so 200mg to 250mg per day may be plenty. Even that may be too much. Start with a low dose [ these capsules are easy to pull apart ] and work up to a dose you are OK with. You can always take a capsule every other day as a way of lowering your daily dosage of BHT. If adverse effects persist you may wish to discontinue the BHT treatment entirely. That is up to you... Oscar

Dear Chadsm138, My advice for anyone who feels that BHT is in any way adversely effecting them is to take less BHT. You do mention that this eczema condition is gone since you began taking the BHT. That does seem to inicate something good is happening with this treatment.

Also, I do recommend taking a vitamin B complex tablet once a day and 1mg tablet of vitamin B12 per day. 1mg [ milligrams ] is the same as 1,000mcg [ micrograms ] Vitamin B12 is sold in micrograms. These B vitamins should help with this fatigue you have discussed.

Have you had any blood tests done since you started taking the BHT ? Such tests are needed to evaluate how well the BHT is working as a treatment for hepatitis C. I am talking about liver function tests and the viral load count test. The liver function tests are NOT expensive. They cost about 30 to 35 dollars for LIVER PANEL TESTS. The viral load count costs about 300 dollars. These tests are important. You should at the very least have that standard liver panel series of blood test done to find out how well your liver is functioning... Oscar

Dear Priscilla from Uxbridge MA, I don`t see any problem with you using ibuprophen with the BHT treatment as long as you do NOT take them at the same time. Wait at least two hours before or after taking the one or the other. Ibuprophen does put an additional strain on the liver. But the same is true for any pain reliever. Many people using the BHT treatment are on some type of pain medication including ibuprophen for one reason or another. It is best not to take these pain medications, but people do need relief from pain at times.

Please keep this forum updated with your experience with the BHT treatment for hepatitis C. Wishing you well and to be well, ...Oscar

Hepatitis C

Thanks to a nice and caring gentleman named Oscar, I have been treating my hepatitis c genotype 1 (not sure if it is a or b) with BHT for approximately one year. I started taking 375 mg twice daily for the 1st 9 months. Lately I have been taking 250 mg along with a monolaurin. When I started taking BHT my viral load was 450,000 and my last was 147 and my salt was 173. Yesterday I reviewed my recent results with my Dr. and my viral load was 7,500. My ast and salt are still high at 100 and 127, but having this disease since probably the early 70's takes its toll. My albumin and bilirubin are still within normal limits which tells me that although my liver is working hard, it is still functioning at a decent level. If anybody would like more info on but as a treatment for hcv, you can find it at the new but cures group in yahoo groups. We had to create a NEW Yahoo group because we were unable to add new moderators to the original group. This new group is essentially a continuation of the original group with the added ability to add new moderators.

We have made important new discoveries as to how best use the BHT treatment. Supplements and foods to avoid and NOT take include: Milk thistle and its extracts, Vitamin E supplements, and grapefruit juice.

Things that help with the BHT treatment include vitamin B12 and vitamin D and maybe the lipid monolaurin.

So please do join the NEW group if interested here:

Please do NOT join the original or old group because you be instucted to join that NEW group I just posted a link to above.

As always I encourage all people trying the BHT treatment to post their results here at the EARTH CLINIC. This is the BIG forum where people are most likely to read what you have to report....Oscar

Has anyone had serious side effects from BHT?

Here is a link to the feedback available from people who provided a baseline and at least one blood test results follow up report. These are people with actual blood test results. Most of their names have been replaced with an initial and a number, D1, or S1 for example. Anyway, there is a lot of important feedback provided at one location:

OSCAR!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much. Well, I started taking BHT in January 2012 and my viral load was way high, today is 9/13/12 and I went to the doctor for my annual bloodwork and viral load tests. The ast and alt are lower than they were a year ago, the viral load is 8 million units lower. I was hoping for virus free, but am still hopeful. I was taking one 350 milgram daily, now I am taking 2 in the morning...

An hour later I take Liver & Bile extract which is powder and has milk thistle, dandelion and other important ingrediants in it... That was purchased through iherb for 14 bucks... Hoping that next year things are even better. I am hopeful and feel good. I eat healthy for the most part and I rarely drink. My downfall is sweets, not all the time but when I start to eat them its hard to stop... Exercising more now too. Thank you so much for hanging in there with this. I had spent thousands on Liver Life which is 56. A bottle and I wasn't getting worse but couldn't afford it... Thanks to you I can have hope, health and not go broke... God Bless you and your work, Lana

Dear Lana, Thank you so very much for reporting back in with the EARTH CLINIC with your response to the BHT treatment for hepatitis C.

I do want you and others to know that those reporting the best results do avoid milk thistle as a part of this BHT treatment. In my opinion certain milk thistle extracts combine with the metabolites of BHT in such a way as to make the BHT treatment much less effective....Oscar

Dear Oscar; OK, I am now off of the powder and only on BHT 700 mg in the morning. I found if I did it at night my mind was whacky, intense etc.. Not normal feeling. I also take R-Lipoic Acid 300 mg 3 times a day, do you think I should continue with that? Thanks sooooooooo much for the hope and health! Lana

Dear Lana, Lower the dose of BHT used whenever adverse effects are experienced. Take no more than 350mg of BHT per day and maybe less than that. 700mg of BHT per is too much for you. Many people are having very good results with the smaller dosages of BHT for a hepatitis C infection.

Please lower that dosage now....Oscar

Dear Lana [ Raleigh ], The good news I have for you is: There are NEW treatments available for hepatitis C right NOW. These new treatments are both safe and very effective. Surely your doctor has discussed this with you. Is that true or not?

You have tried the BHT for 2 years now and it is NOT working for you based on what your test results are showing.

It is possible the " valacylovir " and or the s-acetyl glutathione supplements are degrading the BHT treatment. I have no way of knowing about that.

You should be eligible for government assistance to pay for these newly available treatments.

If the BHT is working the way it is supposed to there would be no need for a herpes drug or that other supplement.

The BHT treatment does NOT work well with MANY drugs and supplements.

So it`s up to you. You can try the BHT without the two compounds discussed and see if you get a dramatic improvement in two months or less. If not go with the newly available drugs as prescribed. Or go with the new treatments right now. I want to see you get well with or without the BHT treatment....Oscar
