I know for me Bell's Palsy had nothing to do with chicken pox, shingles, cold sores virus etc. I've never suffered from any of that. I also don't have Lyme's Disease. Dental doesn't seem to be a concern either. I did help lift a person who grabbed my neck to assist in the lifting, and then 2 days later woke up with a pain in the base of my skull and cramps behind my ear. About 15 minutes later my mouth went numb and I had trouble blinking my eye. Next thing I knew, my right side was paralyzed from moving but I never lost any feeling. My hearing in my right ear became super-human. Someone whispers and it sounds like they are screaming. I tried a chiropractor and it seemed to make matters worse for me, but I don't want to discourage anyone from seeking that as an option. In my case I believed a pinched nerve or something like that was the culprit. So I started a daily routine 6 weeks ago. WATER ONLY. I've drank nothing but water. Organic fruit and vegetables. Started taking sublingual B-12, B-12 tabs, Lysine, Calcium, Flax Oil, Omega-3 and B-6. These I found at Walmart for reasonable prices. I doubled the recommended doses for myself, and I took as much B-12 as I could stand because it's supposed to be harmless. I then started taking Colloidal Silver immediately, which was just a precaution in the event that I somehow had an infection. I could only find Colloidal Silver in a healthfood store, but Walgreen's offered to order it for me. I just didn't want to wait for it. I fasted for a day, drinking water when I felt hungry.

I don't know if any of this truly worked for me or not, it may be a placebo effect or just natural course, but I'm 6 weeks in and I've regained the ability to move my nostril, my speech is no longer slurred, I can blink my eye with no problem. I still can't lift my eyebrow, and when I smile my right corner still droops. Did the vitamins and diet work? I don't know. Was it the chiropractor? I don't know either. I'm still going to continue taking them cause even if they didn't work, they made me feel as though I was doing something to better myself. I also used a back massager and massaged my face every 2 hours to stimulate the nerves. I practice A E I O U and exagerate the formation of the letters with my mouth. I hold my eyebrow in place as I mentally think about lifting them, and then lift my left one. I do the same with the corner of my mouth. I've still got some recovering to do. I know B-12 and B-6 are good for your nerve endings and muscles. For a few bucks it's worth a try right?

Hello Brian,

In analyzing your Bell's Palsey, I noticed you mentioned the "super sensitivity" of your hearing... Possibly "Hyperacusis" which is often associated with ear infection. Many think Bell's is caused by a virus which takes off in the nerve going from base of the mouth toward the ear on both sides of the face. Usually the Bell's virus (and can be many different kinds of viruses) come from the mouth after dental work, but the virus can also come from the ear into the eustacian tube and then into mouth and finally into the nerve.

You said you are taking Lysine, a virus killer. So from what you said you may have gotten Bell's from a viral infection, and possibly from the ear, given your probable "Hyperacusis. " The Lysine is helping kill the virus.

Google "hyperacusis caused by virus" or "super sensitive hearing viral causation" and lots of sites will come up demonstrating the connection.

The best way to kill a virus is with Colloidal Silver. I make my own so I know the concentration is strong. Once I did get a right side Bell's conditon, and applied CS mixed in with about equal amount of DMSO as a carrier and penetrant and literally in fifteen minutes the frozen right side was 90 percent back to normal. If the virus is allowed to live a long time you can have nerve damage so the various vitamins you are taking to help nerve growth is wise. But consider the CS plus DMSO formula.

Hi, with the collodial silver and dmso did you rub it into your skin or did you take it orally? I have had bells palsy for 10 months now and I still cant smile or lift my left eyebro I have had a little recovery I have tried physiotherapy and accupunture. I'm desperate now. I'm fearing I will not recover anymore :(

Hello Mtui036,

About the application of the DMSO/Colloidal silver mix...it is applied on the surface of the skin ...surface of side of face the Bells Palsey has affected. Sorry I didn't make that plain. The DMSO is a solvent and penetrant and will carry the CS into the skin and along the nerve where the virus is causing the paralysis. As I said in my previous post, I had this condition a number of years ago and used the method I described. Use a white paper towel. Not a colored paper towel because the DMSO would carry the dye of the paper towel.

Hi Dave, can I email you about the dsmo please your knowledge will be greatly appreciated. I have been spraying colloidal silver on my face it has been causing my left side the affected side to twitch but no improvement and I would like to use the dsmo but I'm a bit scared and don't know how much I should use or where to get it from. Hello Mtui 036,

If the CS is causing ANY side effects...you say twitching on your face where you applied the CS topically....then don't use it. Something might be wrong with the CS.

I've never heard of a twitching reaction to CS and that is why I say, if this were me, I'd question the quality of the CS. When I've used my CS topically on occasions when I want to get the CS down into the skin, I mix the CS 50/50 with DMSO. I get the DMSO on line from Dr. Jacobs/ DMSO. I apply with a white cloth or white paper towel. (Oh, I just read a recent Contributing writer to Earth Clinic...Mama to Many...say that some bad chemicals might be left in even white paper towels! )

You can read about the use of DMSO by googling, "DMSO 60 minutes Dr Jacobs youtube" and find a wonderful interview and analysis of DMSO.

I'm intrigued by what CS you are using. Is it a cream? I don't use CS in a cream. Not that I wouldn't but I just have no experience there.

Be careful about Manganese -- it can cause symptoms of Parkinsons' Disease or Bells Palsy. I was taking a number of supplements that included manganese. The muscles on the right side of my face started to go slack and I was unable to use my mouth effectively. I thought I was having a stroke. Luckily I had a friend over who took me to the emergency room. I was diagnosed with Bells Palsy. It was supposed to go away within 1-2 months. It persisted for "7" months. I ran across something on the interment stating that overdosing on manganese can cause Parkinson's type symptoms. After checking the supplements I was taking I found that I was taking roughly 600 to 800 times the daily recommended allowance of this mineral. After I threw out these supplements my Bells started to clear up. If you have any similar type symptoms check what you're taking and eliminate those with manganese.

Julia, I saw you posted recently so I hope you check back. You want to focus on anti-inflammatory supplements (i. E. DHA, Magnesium, curcumin is very powerful, also quercetin). Also, B vitamins are essential to healing nerves. Acetyl-L-carnitine, N-acetyl-l-cysteine, too. It is absolutely essential that you avoid glutamate in all its forms (look it up), and aspartame. Most food in America is loaded with these powerful neurotoxins. It's a lifestyle change

I copied this from another website about Bell's:

"Vitamin B-12 is the heavy hitter when it comes to relieving Bell's palsy symptoms. It reduces nerve inflammation, protects the nerve, and reduces the amount of nerve irritants like glutamates. Vitamin B-12 aids in the production of myelin in the body's nervous system. Myelin increases the conductivity of electrical signals to the nervous system. In Bell's palsy, the signals have been interrupted either by inflammation or trauma.

Two other vitamins taken in conjunction with B-12 help to speed recovery from symptoms of Bell's palsy. These are vitamin B-1 that retards muscle atrophy and enhances blood circulation to the effected area of the face, and vitamin B-6 that is instrumental in creating amino acids necessary for new cell growth. To rebuild the protective sheath around the nerves, add some lecithin granules.

When I became afflicted with Bells Palsy almost 11 yrs ago, I tried to visit my Dentist. He would not work on me as my mouth barely opened. Moreover, I was told that there'd be no guarantee giving me anesthetic wouldn't cause additional problems. Since then 4 of my teeth have broken. I'd previously been know for my "smile" and it sucks. As I sit typing, my face is throbbing, because the roots of 2 of the teeth on that side remain. At the same time, my face seems to be loosening up. I'm hoping to find another Dentist who is familiar w/Bell's Palsy, and isn't afraid to assist me.

Candy, Bells Palsy is often triggered by virus and low magnesium. We cured my husband's with magnesium oil and progesterone cream topically. He also took turmeric and black pepper 2x a day. My homemade mouthwash will also boost magnesium levels and will halt most dental issues.

In a 1 liter bottle, add 1/2 mineral water, 1/2 milk of magnesia, 2 tsp baking soda and 2 to 5 drops peppermint essential oil.

Shake and use between brushing as mouth rinse and brush wetter. I use baking soda as my toothpaste. I leave my rinse without rinsing out with water as it helps.

Take mag citrate or 5 drops of mag oil in water 2x a day to bowel tolerance. These will reduce symptoms quickly and cured his bells palsy. Ted recommends the progesterone cream in more stubborn cases.

Was checking out different things for facial pain and I found if you locate the sore spot on face, use your index finger and apply pressure to that spot of 2 minutes. It will cause the nerve to relax. Be sure to message your face and use essential oils with creams. Utube Bell's Palsy facial physical therapy.

I hope this might be some help to you - I own a copy of this book, and have often found its information helpful. He is saying that if the right side is the afflicted side, you might want to try cutting way down on your sodium intake, and eat more high-potassium foods, switch from ordinary salt (sodium chloride) to potassium salt (here in the US sold as "No Salt"). If the left side is the afflicted side, perhaps increase sodium intake.

"When a stroke affects the right side, it is usually due to blood clotting related to a lack of Potassium. Bell's Palsy on the right side is usually a Potassium deficiency affecting the muscles of the face and body on the right side (left side of the body is influenced by the Sodium level).

There is a heap of information about currently having symptoms Bell's Palsy and various options for treatment, but it is rare to find any articles about the lingering effects of Bell's Palsy in the years after the initial damage has been done.

I developed Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) many years after the damage was done by the Bell's Palsy. The pain that comes with TN is awful. I only found out about the connection between Bell's Palsy and TN after extensive internet search.

I am now taking medication to reduce the risks of flare-ups, and acupuncture helps as well.

Hi, I had Bells Palsy twice, once when I was 9 months old and again when I was 6. It went away, but left my right side of my mouth a little turned down, my eye smaller than my left.

I am now 52 and have had times, especially when stressed or tired, that I have a lump next to my mouth, below my cheek. Lately in social situations, when drinking some wine and being tired, people ask me what is wrong. I am wishing to do something about it and trying to see if minor plastic surgery will help. I am nervous that it might cause more nerve damage. My face is extremely puffy, especially on my right side. Does anyone have this problem with one spot and have ideas to deal with it? I try to do the BP exercises, but seem to notice my face getting more heavy and my ear full.

Hello. I had bell's palsy when I was 15. The whole right side of my face drooped as if I had a stroke. I couldn't eat or drink without stuff falling out of my mouth because I only had control of half of it. My right eyelid sagged so low that I could barely see out of it.

My dad took me to a clinic that gave me an I.V. Drip of something that made it go away after about 4 treatments. (I was afraid to ask what it was because I'm terrified of needles, sorry! ) However, I'm 26 now and it left some nerves damaged, or they grew back incorrectly, because whenever I smile, my right eye closes involuntarily. Does anyone know how to reverse nerve damage from bell's palsy?

I have read some encouraging news that methylcobalamin (B12) may help recover (or reform) the myelin nerve covering that is thought to be a culprit in Bells Palsy onset. I am in my second bout with Bells Palsy (after eight years Palsy free) and I will be trying this and reporting on my findings. My last bout I went through over a year of physical therapy and also was prescribed prednisone (the prednisone didn't seem to help at all), after the over a year of therapy I regained about 60% of my facial movement, therapy consisted of electric stim and ultrasound. This time around I have my own electric stim and that's it, I do half hour daily. I am ordering methylcobalamin and hope that will help to fully recover this round. I will report back in the future on this.

Bells Palsy: On the day after I returned from Cyprus, I woke up with it. It felt like a cheap soap had tightened my skin, but on the muscles on my face. I couldn`t move the right side of my face, like someone had drawn a line down my nose and from then on, nothing! I went to the base doctor, and was told I had bells palsy...that they did not know the cause, and there was no cure for it. My life took a drastic change for obvious social reasons. I guess I spent about the next three or so years without being very social at all. It did a lot to my self image for sure. Many years later on tv, I saw a lady that had the same thing. One thing to remember about this for those that have it....

Today, though I never got any cure, and years later it became less severe, I have discovered the lack of wrinkles over the entire right side of my face, which seems to confuse people in judging my age! I read a little on your site which I`ll read more of later, but I just wanted to get this off my chest. Today I still have no actual cause or cure, and my right eye tends to water when food has a strong flavour. Best regards, David.

My neurologist says there is no cure and it will resolve on its own. Needless to say I have a non-existing social life because not only has my face been damage too but my speech. It is very hard for me to communicate since I do not have good muscle movement on both sides. Also eating out in public is such a chore that i' rather just sit home and eat alone.

I too have read Don Lepore's "Ultimate healing Guide" and have found it helpful in many instances. As another reader mentions he talks about the possibility of a sodium deficiency if it affects the left side and a potassium deficiency if it affects the right side. I had been feeling bad the last few days with tingling in my tongue, swelling gums, occasionally a pain behind my ear and eyes twitching. Very scary! The base of my neck also felt weird and weak?.I only slept 3 hrs last night as I was so anxious. I went to the chiro and nothing. I tried several supplements and natural muscle relaxants? But when I drank some water with some sea salt, it went away within 1 hr! I don't know if this will help anyone else, but I'm just saying my experience and I'm so grateful for it! I will also be taking some colloidal silver to be safe?.

I hear Turmeric is also helps, I am going to start adding it to my Natural juicing. I will let you know if it seems to help.

For those who suffer from Bells Palsy and you don't want to take Drugs, do this each day: Black seed oil in morning internal and heat to rub or Massage in face both sides or you can switch and use Castor Oil the same way. Drink Hawthorn and Hisbiscus tea in Morning. Half hour later take 2 Ginger Capsules and 1 Turmeric Capsules in morning with water or alkaline water. Hour later, take MSM pill 💊 and an B Complex 💊 with water.

Half hour later Cayenne, Garlic pill 💊 with water.

Half hour later, either drink Orange Juice or take a vitamin C 💊.

By 12 pm or after eat a green salad 🥗 of cucumbers, ROMAINE Lettuce 🥬,celery, parsley red or sweet onion, 3 crush garlic, dash of cayenne, turmeric, Apple Cider Vinegar dash in 🥗 salad eat it with coconut and vinegar, or brags special salad dressings ,they have different ones. If don't want to eat this you can put in a good blender like vitamix and make a powerful green mix but add fresh ginger. Best to get all your food products from Farmers market organic. Also make 3 times a day celery drink by itself to drink or you can add cucumbers, ginger and 🍋 lemon. Night time another capsule of Tumeric, Ginger, MSM. Keep the tear drops in your eye few times throughout the day and before you rest. Lemon water 💦 at night be fore rest.

Stay on Plant food and herbs nothing else to eat with your salad except Broccoli boil. And watch the amazing affect you start feeling in a week to two weeks not just to heal Bells Palsley but overall health. Also in the 24 hours you also should take a plant Base protein shake excellent one called Vega Shakes look it up online Morning x it with part coconut milk and part almond milk ,very good for health. Now if you can stick with this in discipline each days. with your massaging your face or putting semi hot wash cloth on your face and even every other day to-drop the two to 4 drops whatever your brand says of oil of oregano 🌿 and stick to all of this you will be amazed in its help to heal Bells Palsy. But always check with your doctor if this is good for you The Natural way but remember The Almighty God in his scriptures is the healer and said he give you Herbs as your meat to eat as healing food.

Hi, Thank you for making such a place where natural remedies are discussed. Highly appreciate it! I got bell's palsy in last month of pregnancy. Did take steroids but 48hrs later. It's been 11 months and have only improved 50% if that. I have tried massage, acupuncture (50-60 sessions by now), chiropractor, turmeric, ginger, bunch of different vitamins, essential oils, castor oils and heat packs, yoga, meditation and CS (for last 3 weeks). Nothing seems to have clicked so far. As soon as I started meditation my eye started closing which was a great help. But no further improvements after that.

Can you please suggest if there's anything else I can try? Also I read about DMSO and CS combining and applying. IS it something that can still work? or am I too late for that? Is there any way I can learn that virus is there or not and/or may be virus is gone and nerves are damaged? How do I help nerve regeneration.

Thanks a ton!

Bells Palsy is a calcium deficeincy. I have now had 8 peoples faces back to normal in 2 weeks by giving them oral spray calcium. Number 9 is trying it now. I don't know if calcium pills would help as quickly but it has to work over the long run. The spray is sprayed on the inside of the cheeks, 6 sprays twice a day, for two weeks. I did find that one friend that had contracted it 4 years before, it didn't help but the other 8 started it within a week of the symtoms starting and all were back to normal in 2 weeks.

Hello Nagesh,

Re your question in dealing with Bells' Palsy.

If you look under Earth Clinic "Ailments" section and look up Bells' Palsy...I have a post that discussed killing the underlying virus which I believe causes Bells' Palsy. The post is a response to a thread under the "Castor Oil" subsection (under "Ailments"..."Bell's Palsy"). I also have an article up on the "Remedies" section of Earth Clinic where under "Colloidal Silver" EC has published a brief article, in which I discuss Bells' Palsy.

The idea of "viral cause" is worth taking the time to read how I cured myself of BP. The experience was frightening (paralysis)...and taught me the power of Silver atoms.

I looked up for a neurologist and gave me medications like steroids 2x a day, vitamins B1, B6 & B12, for 3x a day and physical therapy once a day for 3 weeks. (Included in the PT is the facial exercises) that helps the muscles relax. It was 1 month and 3 weeks I already feel the changes. The droop face recovered earlier than expected. I also researched for best food that is rich in Vit. B1, B6 and B12. Meat and seafoods, dairy products, fruits and vegetables and fortified foods which is rich in vitamins B. It really helps my bells palsy recover soon. In a little span of time, exactly 3 months I'm already healed. I also take at least 7 to eight hours of sleep.

My buddy Fran came to work one Friday with half his face hanging down like a slab of silly putty. He said, in a sad, slurred voice, "It's Bell's Palsy. Doc says it's caused by a virus, will go away in weeks, or months, or a year."

I took him aside and told him if it was a virus he could try some things. Of course he was desperate to try anything. "off the top of my head, vitamins A, C, D, and E kill viruses. So do zinc, selenium, iodine, and colloidal silver. Also elderberries, echinacea and astragulus are anti-viral."

Monday he came in all smiles, with a normal face and just a hint of a slurred voice. "Wow! What did you do?"

"I took all those things you told me about" I never found out the dosages but it was probably a lot.

That afternoon he called his Doc an said, "Guess what, I'm well! "

"I can tell by your voice! The Doc enthused, "What did you do?"

" I took a bunch of supplements! "

"The Doc's voice fell. "I must have misdiagnosed."

Fran said, " A fine thing. How do you misdiagnose half my face hanging like a side of Meat?"

I recently have tried using Tumeric to reduce the nagging ache you get with bells palsy , I used to be munching pain killers like they were sweets to alleviate the constant ache , I also have had the eye problem which goes with it. I bought a small jar of Tumeric from the local supermarket and decided to give it a go as I had read it was a good anti inflamitory. I mixed a half teaspoon of powder in half a wine glass of water once in the morning and once about an hour before bed. Its not the most pleasant thing as it tastes like drinking dirt but it has worked for me , not completley removed the symptoms but 95% gone and I cant remember the last time I had to take pain killers. It seems to have sorted my eye out too. Also have tried colloidal silver for sinus issues and it actually works when you put it up your nose , again not very pleasant but twice a day works for me.

How many days did you ingest turmeric for?

I have a capsule filling machine we got from ebay for about $25. It has saved us from the nasty drinks...with everything we must ingest in powder form. One bit of advise with it...blow it out with your hair drier between fillings to keep it running smoothly or the capsules get stuck.

My other bit of the story is essential oils. They heal from the inside out and permantly. I'm using Idaho Tansy right now and I'm feeling some relief already at 3 days.
