Hi, I am surprised to see so little feedback on adrenal fatigue, so I thought I would add my experience. I was diagnosed with adrenal burnout several years ago, but I suspect I have suffered from this problem since childhood.

I read not too long ago, I think on a coconut oil website, that studies show abused children often grow up to suffer adrenal problems, which makes sense in my case.

Anyway, emotions and past trauma are definitely things to consider in your healing program and I have done quite a lot in this department. It does help.

As far as supplements, I take a lot of B vitamins and I think they help. A nutritional consultant/chiropractor I worked with for a while had me taking cortisol tablets, but I never felt they helped.

The naturepath I work with now has me on green drink powder. I think more than anything this really helps me. I have tried several kinds and what you want to look for are the organic ingredients. Some taste better than others, but I find each brand takes getting used to. Most companies are adding berries and stevia as sweetener, so they really are quite delicious. I think the greens really fortify my body and help with the adrenal issue.

One of my adrenal symptoms is heart palpitations which can be brought on by stress and poor choices in diet. Sometimes they come out of nowhere, it seems. I usually can control them with an electrolyte mix...similar to what Ted has recommended here. My recipe is: 2 heaping tsp Calm (powdered magnesium citrate), 6 capsules potassium citrate (emptied) and 1 tsp natural sea salt (the kind that looks like sand). Put ingredients in a quart jar and add 1/2 cup hot water. After mix stops bubbling fill nearly full with cool water.

This mix helps me almost immediately. I take as little or as much as I need. (Too much, though, can cause the runs from the mag. citrate.) I usually take a couple shot glasses full a day and the jar lasts me several days. I leave it sitting on my kitchen counter. My naturepath recommends you have an electrolyte drink every day. I think it's smart.

The other thing I know is really important for me is detoxing the body. And my naturepath has said this is very important. I have just realized, too, that fibromyalgia, which I had for 9 years, is caused because the body is not draining properly and toxins get backed up in the system. I have felt extremely bogged down at times, as if I am carrying lead weights, and I will sweat for 20 minutes and feel completely different and have complete relief! I have a steam cabinet, which is fabulous! You can also use your bath tub, just add epsom salt, h202, vinegar, iodine, etc...anything to help the body detox and that works for you.

I am also reading more about parasites and the diseases they cause. I think Hulda Clark has done a lot of research in this department and I'm going to try her parasite cleanse, too. Also going to make my own black walnut hull tincture. Look online for the recipe, if you are interested.

Back to the adrenals...I have done so many things and taken so many supplements it is hard to really pinpoint what made the biggest difference. But I can tell that my work with the naturepath who uses top grade supplements, including many homeopathics, really is beneficial. Expensive, but beneficial.

I also sleep a lot: 9-10 hours is best for me. I take sublingual melatonin to help me fall asleep. I avoid sugar as much as possible and try to be gluten-free. (very important for people with blood type o.) And I've spent a lot of time (and money) in self help/spiritual programs which are so very important.

June, how were you diagnosed with adrenal fatigue? It's been suspected for me, and I'm waiting for some test results. However, I also noticed that some of your symptoms, and comment on fibromyalgia, made me think of Lyme disease. SO much is not known about lingering cases or chronic Lyme, and many think that it is often incorrectly diagnosed as fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue, even M.S. and Alzheimers. Some of your remedies are similar to things I've used for Lyme disease.

Unfortunately, the testing for Lyme is MAYBE 75% accurate, cases are often not diagnosed and reported if doctors think "It's not in this state", perpetuating that myth, and there are people who have wondered what is wrong with them for years, only to be told by standard medical testing that they're "fine". I was finally diagnosed, 9 years after classic symptoms and a negative test, and 5 years after another negative test. My 1st test this year was 'negative', (after being on antibiotics, which I think can affect the results), my insistence on another led to a positive test and acknowledgement of this disease. and an M.D. in Maryland, Dr. Singleton had it for 8 years before his diagnosis, and was told he had fibromyalgia

The tick is the size of a sesame seed, often not seen, and not everyone gets the bullseye rash. Even the CDC says there may be 10x more cases than known.

Many symptoms are also symptoms of other diseases or disorders.

I just want to thank Earth Clinic and Ted for the Lemon/Baking Soda Alkalizing drink.

I became deathly ill about 4 years ago after a metal detox gone wrong. I managed to slowly recover however have had chronic insomnia and low energy since then, along with other problems that persist.

I did a Lemon and BS drink about 30 minutes ago and I feel great. I feel like I have blood going to my brain. I actually felt the adrenal glands starting to "pump".

I will continue and hope to resolve my insomnia and fatigue problem.

Hi I would like to know how to make the lemon and baking soda alkaline drink? I am suffering with adrenal burnout and a lot of body aches and painful inflamation, I'm 37 years old but feel 90 because of my chronic fatigue, any helpful suggestions to help ease the joint pain?

EC: Ted's Alkalizing Recipe:

  • 1 lemon or lime
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • Half a glass of water

Take the juice of 1 lemon or 1 lime ( which is approx 2 tablespoons of juice), add to half a glass of water. Add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda until the fizzing stops.

Taken twice a day on an empty stomach.

Vitamin C is great for adrenal issues. Lemons are high in vitamin C so I use 1/2 in water first thing in the morning and before bed. I also use ginseng which seems to help as well. I use the liquid ginseng that you drink with a straw, they are very small viles that you get at the Health Food Store. B vitamins are also critical and I use the liquid multivitamin which contains all of the B's!

I was diagnosed with adrenal fatigue, plus other ailments(fatty liver, weak pumping heart, kidney problems, blood crystals, blood clots, pH imbalance, poor digestion and no peristalsis) which all developed over the past 2 months due to buying food which was excessively alkaline. (Previous tests 6 months ago were all clear apart from a whole host of parasites).

I read here that licorice root, B-complex, basil and coconut oil help and started taking them last week. A week has not gone yet and I feel much better. Last night was the first night I slept well just taking chamomile tea. Past few weeks I needed the chamomile tea and 2 melatonin tablets to catch a wink.

The licorice is in tea form, and its a blend of several herbs of spices - licorice, basil, cinnamon and a few others. I drank the licorice tea for 5 days straight 3 times a day, and decided to have a break for a few days. I will drink it again after a 3 days break for 3 days then once or twice a week, depending on how I feel till I take once a week for a few months.

For diet, I started blending various leafy and root vegetables, include 3 tablespoons of chia seeds, and one apple each morning and drink a blend of herbal teas during the day including pine pollen, ashwanganda and other herbs and spices (I just brew a teaspoon of a few each day and drink whole day rather than put in food). I add 3 teaspoons of B-complex, 1 teaspoon of MMS, 2 tablespoons of Omega 48 blend, 1 teaspoon of Ascorbic acid to the flask and drink the mixture the whole day at work. I am so glad it was caught early and already I see some results, though its early days.

Also, I started deep breathing exercises each day, sniffing basil or lavender essential oils once a day before going to bed.

My bowels are now moving well each day which a huge relief. My fatigue is slowly going away. I started climbing stairs for exercise and skipping. The pain I felt past month in the heart while exercising is going.

I was diagnosed as having adrenal weakness and a slower thyroid. I was through dr's after dr's. most saying that I had nothing wrong with me. I ended up seeing an herbal doctor. she had me on many herbals and no unkfood, and vitamins.
The things that I take now are the ones that I need to take or I can hardly function. B vitamins complex 50 mg( that is a combination of all the b vitamins, 50 mg of each one )

Vitamin C 1000 mg- 500 mg twice a day, possibly three times a day

calcium/magnesium at 1200 mg of calcium and 600 mg of mag.

a potassuim tablet -I think 99 mg a day

vit A and Vit E. these you can only have a certain amount a day, so buy the highest mg you can. they aren't allowed to sell them at anything higher than a certain amount so you will ok with that much.

I have to limit my stress, chores a day and exercise. If I'm tired I go to sleep, so what if the laundry isnt done or the dishes are left. I need more sleep than the average adult. When I keep up with these things I am way better, but too much overtime and not keeping up with my vitamins drags me way down. I have lately been getting away from my routine and it is showing. I have had to quit many jobs because of this So if you find a set of things that work...stick with it,

Stress upsets adrenal sufferers more and things that are small seem to be huge, but to us, we can't help it. the b vitamins and c vitamins and calcium/magnesium do help soooo much with this.

Hello Jean,

I don't have your problem but I remember a patient with a sluggish thyroid who was on Vitamin Bl2 injections. When she started coming to our clinic she was taking 2 gr. Synthroid daily for her sluggish thyroid. After talking with her about her eating habits and her other problems, I suggested that she get rid of bleached flour problems and switch to whole grain products including whole wheat flour for making any breads or gravies at home. I also suggested that she get a good Stress tab (Vitamin B complex + vitamins C & E) and take one of them at mealtime and bedtime instead of the one a day that the bottle recommends. When she returned a couple of weeks later for her Bl2 injection, she requested that we repeat her blood chemistries and her thyroid test, which we did. The next day I got a call from the lab and quickly called the patient to inquire if she had doubled her thyroid dosage and started a potassium supplement since her last test, and her answer to both was no and asked me why I was asking her about them. Her thyroid test had gone from low normal reading to a hyperthyroid level and so had her potassium. We solved the potassium level problem by questioning if she was using a salt substitute, which she had started and most salt substitutes are potassium chloride, so we decided she needed to stop that and go back to salt. She was also instructed to stop her thyroid medication for a week & restart it at 1/2 tablet daily and return 21 weeks later for repeat labs, which were looking great. An hour or two of reading in a pharmacology text concerning problems caused by vitamin/mineral deficiencies revealed that B vitamin deficiences cause a sluggish thyroid. So my suggestion is whole grains will help with the vitamin E and magnesium, increasing fruits and vegetables will increase potassium levels and the stress tablets will junp start your thyroid. I also recommend that anyone with health problems stop all carbonated beverages because they stress the kidneys, and anything that stresses the kidneys are going to create problems elsewhere also. Hope you find this information helpful. Google "excitotoxins" and learn all the names they hide monosodium glutamate under and work on eliminating both of the two major excitotoxins our processed foods are so laden with by reading ingredient labels carefully and stop buying anything containing them. You are pretty safe in buying unseasoned frozen vegetables, unless they came from some of the fields that Dr. Mercola says has been using MSG on the crops in the fields for at least a decade. I have found a couple of brands of canned vegetables that list 3 different names for MSG in their ingredients lists, so I have boycotted those brands in my household. If canned vegetables list anything beyond the vegetable, water and salt, I leave it on the shelf. I pretty much stick with frozen or fresh vegetables that are not seasoned with anything but salt.

I have had this problem several times off and on so bad I couldn't get out of bed. I will share with you what has helped me. Used the same vitamins your herbalist had you on except a lot more potassium. Plus I added lugol's iodine several drops a day. But that is what my body needed. Dr's Brownstein book recommends 25 mg to 50 mg. (1 drop equals 12.5mg)I believe is what the book said. The book is name Iodine why you need it and why you can't live without. Then I also used licorice. Which really kick my adrenals in (big help). But if you use licorice all the herb books say you need to supplement with potassium as it depletes it. But for me it is worth it to be able to move around again. I did find a product which I don't think I can mention it combines all these things in caps. lot easier to deal with. Plus it has adrenal cortex extract in it which feeds the adrenals and l-tyrosine. I know how you feel I hope my experince helps some.

I have been professionally diagnosed with CFS and adrenal fatigue. I'm 25, male, extremely athletic and motivated, but hit this stumbling block and my system keeps crashing every 3months or so. I will most likely have to go back to part time work soon as my condition has worsened.

DIET, SUPPLEMENTS, REMEDIES THAT WORK.

I find the symptoms of adrenal fatigue caused by diet or physical elements (such as what supplements to take) have become easiest to manage.

I take the following (BEAR IN MIND ANYTHING ORGANIC IS BETTER IF AVAILABLE)

****REMEMBER IT TAKES WEEKS-MONTHS-YEARS OF A GOOD REGIME TO SEE BENEFITS**

This is by far the most important.

NUMBER ONE REMEDY

Taken at least once or twice especially towards the end of the day when the body is tired before bed with magnesium will help sleep.

1-3 times a day alkalizing drink-

1 LEMON and 1 LIME juiced with pulp,

ACV 1 teaspoon to larger tablespoon,

Combine together in a large jug,

HALF TEASPOON BAKING SODA or double this if you are already balancing with potassium.

{ADD CRUSHED/POWDERED 250MG MAGNESIUM CITRATE (ONLY ONCE A DAY)}

ADD WATER 1 GLASS OR TWO AND DRINK FRESH. *Filtered or distilled water is best with added Sodium Bicarbonate and Macrobiotic Sea salt, leave 1000ml sit over night for super spring water.

Make sure you walk at least 30mins a day at least!!!! Even if you are tired and if your hypo don't run walking creates serotonin or helps it makes you relaxed and sleepy for night you will sleep amazing have less stress. 30min or more of walking a day is a absolute must

NUMBER TWO REMEDY

You must drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your kidneys flushed, Having 10 glasses of water a day should be a minimum, and homemade super spring water is the ultimate.

These 2-3 remedies are the foundation, they are cheap so when you are not working or low on money or plain can't be bothered because you're over taking a fridge full of remedies remember to continue these DO NOT STOP!!! Ever!

NUMBER THREE

Stay the hell away from sugar, bread and high glycemic index foods!!!! Stay away from oils and saturated fats except coconut oil, your liver needs to get rid of toxins not be working to get rid of oils in your diet.

Eat 6 times a day with nourishing simple meals.. find something that works for you and your taste..

EXAMPLE DAY (what I eat during the working week) portions are about the size of my fist or smaller.

I have been eating like this for 6months all my life I have struggled with weight I lost 34kgs/85lbs and I'm now 96kgs/ 240lbs all over 6months to a year.

1st meal Breakfast 100g precooked chicken/fish/steak from dinner last night

2nd meal premade Greek salad (I make enough for a week), cucumber, cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, celery, olives, salami

3rd meal Lunch healthy homemade fried coconut rice (I make enough for a week) I only use coconut oils. Brown rice is better but not a must. Mix in vegetables or ham or whatever you like!

4th meal almonds

5th meal Dinner, Roast meat or tuna salad if I'm lazy, or sometimes I just enjoy seasalt and pepper roast pumpkin and other vegetables alone

6th meal a banana (helps me sleep) or tuna or somekind of seafood if I need to lose some more fat

More stuff essential supplements

Liquorice root tea/supplement every now and then maybe once daily is great.

DHEA read ted's part on this

Chromium is a must research on earth clinic.

I find a good routine for everything else apart from above is 5 days a week try be strict on yourself, on the weekend don't stress be happy don't worry about your supplements, diet etc, the body needs a break physically and mentally. Have fun and eat healthy if you can but just don't be strict on weekends and you'll find you will be able to stick to a strict schedule.

Take your multis as you need them.

VITMAIN D3 1000IU OR HIGHER daily liquid capsules

VITAMIN A (if you have eyesight problems) continue and lessen once sight or blurriness in vision improves slightly I have found this the best for me.

B vitamins help look into this research it on this sight find out what works best for you

I take Vitamin B12 injections weekly-monthly or as needed it gives me the boost I need to get through slumps and I take a B complex.. Make sure you take granulated lecithin if you are taking lots of B's as it will deplete choline stores. I think Aspirin with B's may help absorb them better maybe with seas salt too.

I have had Adrenal Fatigue for many years now, but it only started getting better when someone with Adrenal Fatigue recognized my symptoms and told me he had it too and he told me what he takes...

Electrolyte Stamina from trace minerals. Been a life saver. Took six tables three times a day with meals at first and weaned off as I got better. Three or four once a day is what I take now.

I also take now take a raw multivitamin called Raw Prenatal from Garden of life.

And learning that my iron was low and causing me more fatigue, I started taking the ionic iron from trace minerals. Can feel the difference within 30 min. Usually I take one dose once a day, 1.2ml or 1/4 tsp. Easy to take in juice. Orange juice or anything high in vitamin C aids in your body utalizing the iron. Milk and dairy inhibits absorption of iron so just don't eat at the same time.

And then rest and sleep and de-stressing my life has been a lifesaver too.


Oil Pulling

Hope someone can help me with adrenal fatigue. Would oil pulling have any effect for a severe case of adrenal fatigue? I have been suffering with this for the past 4 years. I take 4 different antidepressants and wondered if this would create a problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Melissa, for severe adrenal fatigue I would get licorice root solid extract (Tahoma Clinic is the only one that carries it to my knowledge), and take 1/2 teas. in a little water 3 times a day. Take for one week on, three weeks off. Go to bed by 9:00 p.m. every night. Stay away from sugar and caffeine. Find out what the root cause is (mine was 8 large mercury fillings I had in for 30 years) and remove it, by a safe amalgam removal dentist. Don't do vigorous exercise. Oil pulling might help somewhat, but not without the other stuff. E-mail me if you need more info. Best wishes.

I don't have much experience with oil pulling - tried it once or twice only - but from what I've read it should be done on an empty stomach, so I would oil pull first thing in AM and do your meds after. I'm afraid I don't have any insight on whether licorice root goes with the antidepressants, and medical doctors seldom can tell you whether the two work or don't work together, but if it was me I would go ahead and do licorice root along with the other meds, but space them out so one is not on top of the other. Like maybe at least 1/2 to 1 hr. apart. Licorice actually has antidepressant properties and is also good for ulcers, canker sores, and inflammation. It will raise blood pressure and long-term use will deplete the body of potassium, hence the 1 week on, 3 weeks off schedule.

Severe Adrenal Fatigue Remedies

An acquaintance of mine just posted this on another forum and I had to provide the info here. After a few days of the watercure...I seem to be doing much better. Here is his testimony!

What makes anyone do anything for 9 months without results? I guess it's knowing at the core, the protocol contains an obvious TRUTH. How can a high mineral, vitamin and live carbon drink NOT make you better?

My story is unique from what I've seen. For years, I'd been drinking too much water, up to 2 gallons in extreme heat, and had an almost unquenchable thirst to boot. I knew something was seriously wrong. Every time I'd try the protocol, it would make my thirst worse. I knew there was something I didn't understand, yet I didn't know what. I tried several variations of kelp & ingredients, but figured that it was something more fundamental, something not related to the drink.

Over a period of 9 months, I began deprogramming my mind from the lies I'd been fed for years. One of the most fundamental, was the inaccurate perception that you can have too many vitamins & minerals (you can; if it's synthetic). That meant the iodine in kelp, vitamin d & a whole other host of things. It took a serious illness to break down one that stood in my way; 'too much salt'. We've all heard this, it's common health knowledge that you should only have a limited amount of salt each day. I was bound by this through years of programming. Besides, whenever I'd eat salt, it would always taste pleasant, yet bland.

Last week I got very ill through fault of my own. I had just moved out the country and by chance, happened to have some sea salt in my bag. During this time I couldn't eat, and felt very thirsty, yet when I started eating the salt, the thirst subsided quickly. I ate more salt, but my past beliefs kept telling me "don't have too much, it's bad for you". However my body's response told me otherwise. As I got better I thought there maybe something in this. I added large quantities of salt to everything, my drinks, food, I even ate it straight into my mouth. Eventually the salt no longer had it's bland taste, it became too strong to eat. My body was telling me I gotten enough. The thirst problem, which had affected me for around 5 years, had gone... Let me repeat that, without changing anything else apart from the salt in my diet, a health problem that affected me for 5 years of my adult life, disappeared overnight!

I was elated. Then I got even more excited. I recalled the sodium/potassium ratios balance in the body and had a great feeling that reason the drink hadn't been working had something to do with it. The recommended diet (high vegetables), when followed strictly, made me ill. It knocked me out almost to sleep. On the flipside; junk food alleviated this and made me feel much better. I thought it could be because of two things, the drink and diet were too high in potassium and my stomach acids were very low. Junk food was the opposite, it was very high in sodium and easy to digest. I reasoned that if I pushed up my sodium amount, not only would I be able to start eating much better and increase my stomach acids (which is made from the chloride of salt), but the drink would start working and I would get the coveted energy rush everyone talks about.

I knocked up a tablespoon of AN kelp, mixed with lemon juice to eat separately. I added a tablespoon of BSM & 1/2 a lemon, but I didn't have any lime water to hand. I also added as much extra salt whenever I felt a thirst to balance the potassium. When I carefully began to take it over a period of 2 hours I soon noticed a slight tingling in the back of my head. The slight tingling suddenly became a spark. My brain started to clear up, focus increased and I became very aware... In that moment, I realised that 9 months of hard work had finally paid off. The drink started working! I was almost in tears. I knew that at last, I was digesting large quantities of minerals. The real repair work had begun...

At last I can say; "the protocol works". Thank you Moreless, for you have changed my life and all those that contributed to it. There's much that's gone into reaching this point today, the hardest being changing of bad habits and creating new ones. I remember coming to the testimonial forums many times just to keep me going and moving forward. I hope my journey helps you.

Although my journey back to health is far from over, I feel incredibly blessed. I'm in my mid 20s, I'm already very successful for my age and this will allow me to give so much more back to humanity in the years to come.

I know this because I post on that website (and as well as in curezone and many of my posts are on pH balance).

Unlike curezone or earthclinic, people cannot view the post unless registered. Which is a very simple process.

The post and thread relates to the importance of the potassium/sodium ratio.

However there is more. Of importance are the other ingredients of the "Moreless alkalizing drink" i.e. BSM, kelp, ACV, Epsom salt and calcium hydroxide.

I, myself, referred some of my posts in EC to the older AskMoreless forum in curezone.

And lastly, FYI, I was introduced to pH balance with Dr R. Young's books. Later I found Ted's formulas. And later I found the Ask Moreless forum. I can say that I learned a lot from Moreless. His alkalizing drink, which was developed 4-5 years ago, is IMO the best. To Faithinhealing -- I suggest that the amount of water being consumed may be the real problem as I have had a similar difficulty. Last summer I fainted and was found to have a very low serum sodium level. When I got out of the hospital, a month or two later, I thought I'd cured myself with sea salt and blackstrap molasses for my low hemoglobin that had also been found. This summer both of these blood levels are low again and I went to an endocrinologist to get her insights. Turns out after reducing my liquid intake dramatically for 6 days (one to two quarts total liquid including btw all juices as well) my strength seemed to be returning and in fact the blood level of sodium was up to 131 from 127. This Wednesday the level will be checked again (2 weeks more now on the reduced liquid) - we'll see. Low thyroid or cancer may also be involved based on the SIADH diagnosis - but we'll see. Perhaps just the much too high intake of liquid is the whole issue. Normal intake should be much more in the range of half your weight in ounces of water per day. 180 pounds - then 90 ounces.

Latest 2 week update - After the two additional weeks on the reduced liquid intake, my sodium has risen to the normal zone - 136 and my red blood cells are also normal now. My hemoglobin and my hematocrit have continued to rise and are closer to normal.

I am only suggesting that it may be simply too much water intake leads to excretion of sodium, and correcting to a much reduced fluid intake may allow the sodium levels in the blood to return to normal.

Thanks for your experience on lowering fluid intake. How has your health improved????

Because of water retention I try to drink plenty of water but someone else suggested NOT drinking too much water because it does mess with the sodium/potassium ratios just as you've stated! Another solution is a sea salt bath WITH PEROXIDE which helps the body detoxify... Or the baking soda bath WITH PEROXIDE! For whatever reason they seem to provide more energy and clarity throughout the day... Quite possibly balancing the lower sodium to potassium rations perhaps indicative of Adrenal issues! The recipe is 1-2 cups of Baking Soda or Organic Sea Salt to 1 Quart of Hydrogen Peroxide.... Also taken from the curezone ask Moreless forums!

I, too, had a serious problem with thirst (would wake up every 90 minutes at night to guzzle a quart of water). I had been limiting my salt intake because I was sick in other ways and was trying to "eat healthy."

Randomly, I would eat a burger or a soup and sleep through the night and feel better. Finally, I realized it was the sodium! I increased my salt intake dramatically and that IMMEDIATELY solved my 2 year thirst problem. Hope this helps somebody!

It is characteristic for people with adrenal fatigue that liquids go right straight through them. Taking too much liquids simply washes out your minerals and we all lack them.

Hey EC... I really need your input on how safe and effective are adrenal glandulars? I am suffering from adrenal fatigue and am looking into using them but I dont have a clue how they work. Also, a few of my friends are using supplements for poor adrenals/low thyroid from a company called biotics. Any thoughts on this? Thanks guys. Awaiting an early response.

I had Adrenal Cortex Extract injected into my hip weekly when I was at my worst..... It did seem to help in the 80's. I use betafood which has critter components and at first I used 10 a day for a month, felt a lot better. Not sure about my Adrenal supplement. Causes me bloat and burps and once that is over, seem fine. I used a bottle of KELP and it made me feel good.

I would reccommend you read, what your doctor may not tell you about menopause, even if you are not menopausal.... Just for all the medical information. John Lee was an Ob/gyn who loved his patients enough to go agaisnt the status quo. This book covers it ALL........ Love, JOY

Loren: Raw Glandular products are digested as intact proteins that will specifically nourish the identical organ or gland to which they were originated, i.e. Liver, adrenal, kidney, etc. I have been using glandular products for many yrs with noticeable results. I can't speak specifically for adrenal but I would recommend go ahead and try them PLUS other nutritionals or herbs for adrenal like Pantothenic Acid, Tyrosine, and Ginseng.

I quit my protocol until my blood pressure goes back down. Back to square one. For me a setback is a step up eventually!

I had that liver cysts removal surgery that wasn't a success and while they tried to get me off the morphine onto vicodine, I got horribly ill and I asked for the phone.... You guessed it. The lady that prayed for me just went through surgery and knew exactly what to pray. It was awesome! I sat up watching TBN that night... Peaceful... And relieved. WHEW!

Most Raw Glandulars are derived from hormone free, grass fed (free range) cattle in New Zealand or Brazil/Argentina; what we might label as "organic livestock". The manufacturers of the products do not compromise their integrity on the possibility of any livestock that are sick or infected by a disease. The sick animals are not slaughtered and entered into to food production line, they might, however be used as pet food, feed additive, or fertilizer.

Also, most of these Glandular are processed in a way that would kill any harmful organism; and the process of digestion in the human body (stomach acid) further diminishes any possibility of getting sick. So, I suppose no one has ever gotten ill from taking these Raw products.

i love adrenal glandulars. I know a lot of people think you shouldn't take them. But they work for me. I started slow. Tried everything else......didn't work. I think the quality is important. I take them with food. I only need one a day. Hope this helps someone.

Though I haven't been properly diagnosed, I suspect that I have low adrenal function... low sex drive, depression, motivation, general lack of energy, severe sensitivity to alcohol or coffee. Taking Rhodiola & Vit C, magnesium seems to help and recently (on occasion) taking low dose of 7 Keto (precursor to DHEA) I add just a fraction of a 100mg pill which would amount to 10 to 20mg, (some doctors just recommend 5mg) to my cereal... The effects are quite positive, especially to my mental state. I've read that high doses can result in heart palpitations and that one should take rest periods.... I take it with the Rhodiola (a half of a 500mg pill) added to cereal with a tablespoon of ground chia for omega 3 to ease the absorption.

Adrenal Fatigue Question

I am curious to know anyone's feedback regarding my lethargy issues. I am a 42 yr. old female. I am hypothyroid and was also told by an endo. I have Hashimotos. I take the synthetic thyroid med. and also do lots of supplements thanks to the helpful info here on EC and also iherb. I am also a vegetarian (lacto-ovo)

My mornings start out fine, but by 1:00 I get really fatigued and getting things done is laborious and difficult. My mood plummets and I become stuck in this negative low energy rut, physically and mentally. I rely on coffee late afternoon for a jump start, (and have for 4 years since my twins were born.) I was taking a green tea extract with 100 mg. of caffeine which helped quite a bit, but i think Ted said that flouride in green tea can be harmful for the thyroid..? so have since stopped. I am a busy mom, but I can't imagine these feelings of being overwhelmed day in and out are normal.

After reading about adrenal burnout, I believe I may have it. My father died at the young age of 52 from adrenal cancer. I don't really have the $ at the moment to order one of the saliva tests. I found a product which gets really rave reviews and am wondering if this is something that would be beneficial. If I take it with my other supplements which also have B6, can that be too much? Also, I notice some people are wary of licorice root?

I'm also 42 & have Hashimoto's. Your post says you take Synthroid. Have you ever tried a medication made from dessicated porcine (pig) thyroid gland? Synthroid is a synthetic T4 hormone replacement. T4 is the storage form of thyroid hormone. In an ideal situation your body will convert the T4 to T3, which is the active hormone. If your body isn't doing the conversion well it could explain your continued fatigue. Dessicated thyroid contains both T4 & T3. The boost of T3 made a huge difference in my fatigue. I purchase mine from a compounding pharmacy as prescribed by my doctor.

MOST people do best on Natural Desiccated Thyroid, the typical synthetic meds are T4 only and may not be able to convert. Natural Desiccated Thyroid has T3. I feel so much better on it and using it for T3CM protocol, every cell and every organ in our body needs T3!!! STTM YAY!!! An answer to prayer for me:)

To anyone else looking in to this, there is an excellent book by Lynn Farrow about iodine and adrenal/hormonal health, and a website or two- even a FB page- dedicated to iodine and how to deal with adrenals before slowly coming off synthroid et al., by using Lugol's.

Loren - try Licorice Root extract. It's an excellent dietary supplement for adrenal fatigue. My adrenals were taxed out at one point but after taking it - my energy levels picked up. But also diet/nutrition plays a big role. Try to get a lot of greens in. You'll feel ten times better!

Hi Loren, I have a supplement here without animal products in it. If EC will allow me to name it, it is "Christopher's Adrenal Formula". It contains mullein leaves, licorice root, eleuthero root, gotu kola, hawthorn berries, lobelia, cayenne pepper, and ginger root, in a vegetable-based capsule. You're supposed to take 2 caps 3 times a day (that could get pricey). Funnily enough the bottle has 50 caps; you'd think they'd even it up to 60 to match the suggested dosages!

Unfortunately I can't give you any testimony as to its effectiveness as I've only taken it sporadically, since my main focus has been working on my Hashimoto's with other things. Bear in mind that herbals do take time to be effective and you might have to take something for months to really know if it's working for you. I see lots of other good recommendations here for adrenal fatigue as well...certainly consider trying some of those as well as a supplement like this one. Loren - if you're apprehensive about licorice - consider a supplement called Basic Preventive. It's made by Douglas Labs. They're supplements are pretty high quality. They make them in different versions (ie copper/iron free, glandular based, chelated, etc) The labels read as BP 1,2,3,4,5. Each one has similar yet diff ingredients. Though pricey - I can attest its potency. I took them to help me with an inner ear problem. Definitely gave me a lot of energy and got rid of my brain fog. Only caveat is the pills are BIG and you have to take anywhere btw 6-9 a day (depending on which version u buy).

The purpose of the adrenals, usually bovine, is to give your own adrenals a rest and time to rebuild. This can take several years of eating healthy (that means no alcohol, coffee, sugar or white refined flours)Lots of greens and adequate protein. But use the adrenal fractions only for a period of time I took it for a year, then when you are no longer as stressed take herbal support.

I have found Rhodiola to be excellent for adrenal support. I also use ginseng, licorice and schizandra.

I have been using these for about 2months. I'll still continue though. As for the licorice-Tavora if you google side effects of licorice its pretty scary. I know many people swear by it but i am really scared to use it. Any other feedback will be appreciated.

don't use deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL) for adrenal fatigue as the glycyrrhizinated component is the thing that blocks the cortitsol reducing enzyme. the whole reason for taking it is to increase cortisol by preventing its breakdown..

Hi. This is my first time post on this site but I have been perusing this site for quite some time and find this site extremely valuable to people like me and others who want to find alternative measures to ones health issues. I also tried Licorice for my adrenal exaustion but also am concerned about the risks for longer term use. Licorice DID help me but I believe I have found something else which is helping me just as well and has similar methods of action in that it keeps the level of cortisol in your system longer since I suffer from low cortisol. It's a TCM herb called Rehmannia and apparently does not have the risk of raising blood pressure like Licorice can. Apparently it is a very commen herb in TCM given to people with adrenal and kidney issues.

Just a bit of background about my issues. I have been suffering from atypical depression and adrenal exaustion for quite some time. I believe my depression stems mainly from my sub optimal adrenal function. I "used to" drink 3 to 4 cups of stong coffee every day just to get me going. I gave up coffee totally about 4 months ago and it's been a stuggle ever since but I know the caffeine is the worst thing I can have for my low functioning adrenals. The stimilating effect kept my depression at bay but certainly not a long term solution to my problem. I'm really just sick and tired of being sick and tired and any other input would be greatly appreciated. No I am not suicidal so relax LOL.

I would like to ask Ted a few questions if he has the time to answer. Number one, why is it when I take a high B-complex or even just Brewers Yeast that it makes my fatigue and depression worse? Could it be a particular B-vitamin in the complex that makes it worse? Higher dose Vitamin C has the same effect with me. It could be from a detox reaction but I have read that higher dose C can lower cortisol? Is this correct? I certainly don't want lower cortisol. Also, I have a question about melatonin. My circadian rythem must be out of whack. I haven't had a good 8 or 9 hours of sleep a night for many years and the crazy thing is.. Even though I am fatigued during the day I don't feel like I need any sleep if that makes any sense. I'm willing to try melatonin to see if it helps but I also read where even taking 1mg is many more times the amount of melatonin that is secreted normally at night to sleep. Should I try this at a very low dose and only for a short time as to not down regulate normal production of it? My other question has to do with sleep deprivation and it lifting depression. I tried this a number of years ago and it worked for me albeit only for a very short time. Ted do you know the mechanism of action for this? Increased cortisol, or dopamine, or norepinephrine or all 3 that lifted my depression? It was like a light switch went on in my brain.. It was intantaneous and no I am not bipolar nor manic depressive. Ok just one last question.. Sorry... I guess it has been more than a few LOL. Cold Showers DO seem to help give me more energy and relieve my depression but do they exaust the adrenals further for someone like me with adrenal exaustion? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I am a 63 year old man and all my life I have been stressed to the point of exploding . I have always had a seething burning anger and have always had a low opinion of the human race. This began when I was 8 years old and continues to this day. Anger, hate, and bitterness have been my constant companions my entire life, now it has poisoned my body. For many years I have been told my hands were ice cold and my temps indicated I had weak adrenals but until now I never realized how it could affect my health. This has been brought to my attention my a constant atril fibulation problem that I think was created by my adrenal fatigue. I am starting a program of licorice vitamins and minerals as well as adrenal extract.I look forward to adrenal solutions and atril fib connections on this board. I have no other choice than to get my mind purified and put all the negative thoughts out of my mind that have poisoned me for years.

Dear Ron: Just a thought... often when people have adrenal problems they are also hypothyroid. If your body temps are low you could have this problem. It doesn't necessarily show up on blood tests. Wilson's temperature syndrome website is a wonderful resource. Apparently in the old days hypothroidism was diagnosed by low body temps and depression. A good book is Hypothyroidism the hidden illness, by Dr. Brody Barns.

I AVOIDED SALT LIKE IT WAS POISION AND THEN I READ ABOUT NATURAL SEA SALT AND ALL THE MINERALS THAT WERE IN IT AND READ ABOUT HOW SALT NOT TABLE SALT BUT GOOD QUALITY NATURAL SALT AFFECTS HEARTBEAT AND STARTED TRYING SOME SEA SALT AND IT REALLY SEEMS TO BE HELPING MUCH TO MY SURPRISE. Ron, it's a tough one...so many possible paths to take..
addressing the anger would be a great place to start..finding a good
therapist is difficult...(then we get angry at the money we throw at them :))
guided imagery may help as well..
as for the supplements I have had some success lately with a combination of Cordyceps and Korean Red Ginseng. (asian ginseng) Do your own research.
Be careful to purchase a quality brand..Ginseng is recommended for adrenal balancing
especially for men, though can possibly be overstimulating...hard to say how your body will react. (other herbs etc, Ashwaghanda, Magnesium, walking, breathing exercises, eating well, no caffeine! no alcohol..filtered water...positive friends)

I have researched and believe I may have adrenal fatigue also. I have low blood pressure and low temp along with heart palpitations and fog brain also experience aches in shoulders. I found it interesting to hear that someone else other than I also is not much of a salt eater. I avoid salt also and it maybe a cause among others for adrenal fatigue. I also take B complex with vit c and still feel worn out. I feel a little better taking a multi vit and calcium with Magnesium, but still am extremely tired by 3pm. By 3 I feel like the day should just be over and time for bed. I am still searching for something to kick start me come mid afternoon. Any ideas??

Adrenal fatigue: There are a couple of supplements that help adrenal fatigue, and calcium is not one of t hem. They seem to worsen the condition and promote blood clotting, but also restricts blood flow from that also. The other supplements besides vitamin C, magnesium, is the vitamin E, chromium 1000 mcg, and DHEA. Tin deficiency tends to occur with adrenal, but the dose is very low, usually 2 mg-5 mg of Tin chloride. I doubt they sell that, but it seems to help depression that goes with it. The iodine supplement is taken along with the vitamin C 500-1000 mg, 1-2 drops for lugol's solution. During the afternoon, a quick pickup, might be taking some betaine HCl, which adds energy to the body if taken during that time. If there's still problem I have other remedies up my sleeves also. It's important to eat lighter meals during lunch and drink plenty of water during that time, so that the energy of digestion is not depleted from lack of water. It requires the body less energy if water is drank during the lunch hour plus lighter meals. Water acts as a catalyst and allow the food to be better digested.

It's interesting to read all the comments on adrenal fatigue. I am going through menopause. I have fibromyalgia, adrenal fatigue, low blood sugar, palpitations, candida yeast and numerous symptoms that are really ruining my zest for life. I'm in constant pain. I have been tested for many things including thyroid. I'm sure thyroid is a problem though nothing shows up on the blood tests except low B12 anemia and low salt. In fact I get charlie horses if I don't make a point of consuming salt. I haven't been able to exercise because of muscle cramping. The one thing that has helped in the past is to go on a low carb diet was mostly meat, eggs and cheese with green vegetables and other low carb veggies. It totally excludes grain products. I felt better eating this way than any other. B vitamins also help. My life are been an extremely stressful one due to numerous tragedies and it has just taken a toll on my body. I had hot flashes and DHEA helps with that. Does anyone have any solution for the muscle and joint pain? I'm beginning to feel like a hypochrondriac! Any other suggestions would be appreciated. This has to be all tied together. I just don't know how.

Hi Cowgirl,

You mention among all your other ailments that you have candida yeast. I don't know if you mean localized like a vaginal infection or what, but all your symptoms and problems sound like systemic candida. Candida attacks the adrenals and thyroids causing untold misery and yet MDs continue to blow off the symptoms as "all in your head" and regard you as a raging hypochondriac. I have researched candida extensively and believe that when you clear up the candida the "other" problems will clear up also. The best thing I have found for treating systemic candida is a commercial product that I can't mention here, but it is a special probiotic developed in Japan. It contains bacteria that are different than your usual probiotic because these bacteria eat the yeast rathering than just crowding it out. Do a google search on candida and when you find the same stuff mentioned on a number sites, you'll know you've found the right thing.

Hi Ron...The combination of your atrial fib and adrenal fatigue problem might well point to a Magnesium deficiency, since magnesium is a very important electrolyte in your body -- it regulates both the calcium in your bones and tissues as well as the potassium which is balanced by sodium. Magnesium is used and is necessary in over 300 enzyme processes in your body, so Lord knows what else it would cure if you were deficient of this mineral as most of us are. Taking Magnesium is also known to vitally regulate and improve arrythmia and tachycardia in heart conditions. The best magnesium salts to take internally are mag chloride, mag citrate, mag gluconate and mag sulphate(Epsom salts) forms. The dosages recommended for deficiency are anywhere from 800 - 1200 mg of magnesium -- but too much magnesium will generally cause diarrhea -- so, if this happens, just cut back the dosage and continue. I refer to drink 1/4 teasoon of mag sulhate(Epsom salts) in half a glass of water two or three times a day. Magnesium is also known to be a major neural influence on the relaxation part of muscle operation(including heart muscle operation), so if you are deficient magnesium, your muscles would be tense(whose neural influence is governed by calcium).

But the quickest way to up your Mag levels is simply to take a bath at least 2-3 times a week and add 2-3 cups of Epsom salts or mag chloride to the bath water. Stay in the bath for at least half an hour. Your body will quickly absorb what magnesium it needs and in larger amounts than supplementing which sometimes causes diarrhea issues. I simply spray myself after my shower with a small garden sprayer that contains 1 tbspn of Epsom Salts to 8 oz of water(I don't have a bath in my house). I let it just dry and be absorbed by my body. I'm a 60 year old who has very few problems medically now, either with my body or with stress. But it wasn't always like this. Regarding your anger problems, these might relate to problems in your past. The Traditional Chinese Medical system approach believes that anger and love are both ruled by the liver/kidneys region and since you have adrenal fatigue(kidneys) this could well be affecting you emotionally, causing a hormonal/energy imbalance. Liqourice and sea salt are very good for the intestines and kidney, but I would deliberately add another supplement like Milk Thistle to directly target liver improvement. Once you liver and kidneys are healthy again, your blood and hormone levels should both also improve, and there should be a noticeable improvement in your health and outlook on life.

Hi Ron...I've just found and read the original description of your problem on the Atrial Fibrillation age of earth clinic and I'm truly astonished at the similarities between your candida symptoms and mine (the only real difference being that I did not suffer from adrenal fatigue). Here is a description of my symptoms:

I had candida three years ago. My symptoms were psoriasis, eczma, BM and toilet only once every 4 days if I was lucky, tired and sluggish all day, severe grogginess and brainfog in the mornings, bad athletes foot, jock itch(tinea cruris) and overweight. I also regularly caught colds, flu etc many times a year on a regular basis.

This is what I took to cure candida:

* Ted's alkalizing remedies using either whole squeezed lemon/lime or 2 tbspns ACV plus 1/2 tspn baking soda(Arm & Hammer brand) two or three times a day. This is Ted's Alkalizing Remedy and this is THE NUMBER ONE CURE for Candida in my book.

* One tablespoons of virgin coconut oil stirred into my coffee at least 2 - 3 times a day.

* Blackstrap molasses in my coffee, no refined sugar or aspartame sweetener allowed in my diet. BSM also added more potassium to my diet and also helped to balance the extra sodium from using the baking soda.

When I started this remedy at the beginning, I got fairly severe flu-like symptoms for a while -- it almost seemed as if the remedy was making me worse. But this die off or Herxheimer Effect always happens when you get the fungal toxins released into your blood from microbes and fungus from the die off, so think of it as a good sign. Your liver and kidneys are overworked initially, until your immune system can get on top of it. After this die-off it was easy. All my skin problems just disappeared slowly (except the jock itch -- but that's another story) and I haven't had a cold or flu in 2 years.

I must also emphasize that it took a WHOLE YEAR of using these remedies regularly to cure the candida, because any fungal infection is so hard to get rid of, much harder than getting rid of a virus or bacterial infection for sure.

I also took a daily decoction that I made consisting of three herbs just to support my liver, kidneys, blood and immune system throughout this protocol. The 3 herbs were: Tinospora cordifolia, Chanca Piedra (Stonebreaker) and Tumeric root. I gathered the fresh herbs and made the decoction myself(I live in the Philippines). But you can use other simple herbs such as Milk Thistle, Dandelion, Burdock or Liquorice and Ginseng in support just as well.

The reason I started on the magnesium therapy was that, even after curing my candida, occasionally during the day I would suffer strange regular episodes of dizziness from a racing heart. I don't know what that was, but I took magnesium supplements(800 - 1200 mg/day) as well as sprayed my body with Epsom salts as a means of curing this, and was successful. I have also reduced my mag intake accordingly. As a synergistic aid for absorbtion as well as trying to boost my immune system, I now also take mega-doses of Sodium ascorbate(Vitamin C) dissolved in water -- at least 2 - 4 grams per day in split doses.

Your symptoms are remarkably similar to my symptoms, so with enough determination, there is no reason you can't get rid of both your atrial fibrillation roblem as well as your candida, so please don't give up !!

Well I have to agree with you because of my experience. I had suspected that I was having problems with candida and because I brought into the spit test I did nothing about it. Each time I did the spit test it was perfect. My stomach kept getting bigger and I didn't know why. One night I threw up a big piece of candida with streamers. Have been treating for candida and my stomach is getting smaller. Hopefully these posts will help to dis-spell some of the the dis-information going around.

Phoenix, thank you for the information about the origin of the spit test. I had rather assumed it originated with Dr. Crook. If it is not reliable, then better to go with the survey-type tests that calculate a score based on symptoms.

As to your assertion that true candidiasis is rare and the inclusion of medical studies that appear to support this--for every study you come up with, I can come up with two that say the contrary. However, I don't want to waste space here on dueling medical studies. That is not what this site is about. While most of mainstream medicine continues to scoff at the concept of systemic candida (as your post illustrates) people who have gone from doctor to doctor in a desperate search for relief from their aches, pains and misery have figured out how to cure themselves and get their lives back. They are sharing how they did it. THAT is what this site is about.

Well said Cindy, agree completely. For over 100 hundred years we have had Modern Medicine and The Germ Theory. And yet, despite all the "advances" made with stem cell research, genome theory, antibiotics, vaccinations, antiobiotics etc, there are still no cures for Alzheimers, Malaria, Cancer, AIDS, Lupus, Parkinson's disease, Obeisity, Diabetes, measles, flu or even the common cold. Where are the outright cures?

I find it very odd that all the pharmaceutical companies seem to invent these days are just fancy anti-inflammatory and analgaesic painkillers, that are not really designed to cure the ailment, but are specifically only ever designed to take down inflammation and remove the pain no matter what your problem or disease happens to be. And all this with the possibility of such awful side-effects.

If I didn't know better, I might also suspect that this drug design practice might fit in very well with their business profit model -- after all, if you are cured quickly by a drug, then noone buys it anymore do they? So, poor profits. But if you can design drugs whereby, even though they don't cure the problem, people will still become heavily dependent on them from the emotional comfort factor -- and will take these drugs for the rest of their life, then this will be very profitable indeed for the drugs companies involved.

Your right about why dis-information gets passed along. I don't think all those who sell remedies for candida have that motive but I do think there are those who should of taken the time to verify the information before using it. I being neither of these and being my own doctor and researcher do the best I can.

As far as blood test and other medical test I am all for them as they can take the guess work out of treatment. The problem in the United States is that many of us do not have the resources or co-operation of some of our doctors to do these test. So if we want to get well we take responsibility for our own health which we should anyway.

Azithromycin

I came down with something a while back and was given three huge Azithromycin tablets, one per day, three days. I have not felt so good, so normal, in my life (except when I did an olive oil liver cleanse). Unfortunately, I made the mistake of taking a laxative the last day, and it seemed to eliminate the medication. I have chronic fatigue, constipation, indigestion, cold hands and feet, forgetfulness, gluten/dairy/sugar intolerance, and lately leg and foot pain when I lay down at night. I eat mainly plain yogurt (avoid additives, even pectin), organic green apples, fresh lime/lemon juice, dry apricots, fresh vegetable juices, chlorophyll/algae capsules, a really good multi-vitamin, started on horse chestnut capsules and glucosamine/chrondroiten/msm. Digestive enzymes help a lot, I can feel when I take them. Apple cidar vinegar, sodium bicarbonate, distilled or reverse osmosis water, basil/chamomile/catnip tea, teas for PMS, dandylion root tea. Getting enough sleep really helps with mood and memory. Chamomile tea, valerian root, and Swedish Bitters help with sleep and waking up feeling refreshed. If you wake up tired, try drinking a glass of water and laying back down for a bit. Avoid additives, especially MSG type, eat organic and raw whenever possible. Don't smoke, drink, or do illicit drugs. Coffee and alcohol will prevent you from sleeping properly. I feel differently every day, but lately much improved. I had adrenal exhaustion was a truck driver for 14 years studied alternative medicine for 15 years. Doing great today. Almost every one makes the mistake of trying to treat the symptoms like adrenal exhaustion and what you must do is treat the whole body. We are very complex and systems are dependent on each other. You must treat the hypothalumus and the thyroid and the parathyroid the adrenals and the liver. I will give you a list of herbs and supplements to do all the above and will let you research them and why they are so helpful. One of the most important things is to sleep 5 hours straight without raising your head above your body. It takes 5 hours to completely recharge your adrenals. When you get up they quit charging and start working. The most common problem is going to bathroom a lot at night. If you have this problem, no caffeine 5 hours before bedtime, reduce fluids 2 hours before and take bee propolis.

I agree with treating the whole body... For me using 3 T. Of coconut oil a day... Kelp... Bee pollen (pantothenic acid)... aceola powder (vitamin c)....1/2 lemon squeezed in hot water first thing in the morning and before bed... Raw garlic (adaptogen)... And tumeric (helps cleanse the liver and great for adrenals and helps decrease toxic estrogenics in the body)... And himalayan sea salt all seem to help me remineralize and rebuild my immune system. I might also add that unsulphured black strap molasses also helps to provide the minerals... In addition to kelp and sea salt... All great for remineralizing!

Tried to change the subject of this message, but I can change it from SUPPLEMENTS. I never got a cortisol or saliva test, but I am sure that I have been suffering on and off with this for a couple of years. The symptoms, sleeping half the day, drinking pots of coffee with no result, aching joins, night sweats, brain fog etc. This resulted from a long period of stress and anxiety coupled with a processed foods diet.

I had a swollen Thyroid a couple years ago, as well. Kelp with natural iodine really helped that. Iodine is what your body makes thyridozine out of, and your body mistakes flouride for it.

The book, "The Mood Cure" really helped me to understand. All of these different hormones, including sarotonin, are made in the body by converting different amino acids.

L-Tyrosine supplements almost basically cured my adrenal symptoms within a couple of days. I was also told that I had polycystic ovaries, causing my menstruation to cease. This came back and has been regular since. Half of your sex hormones are made in your adrenal glands until old age, when all of them are instead of your genitals.

L-Tyrosine and L-Carnitine are amino acids that are listed as ingredients in popular energy drinks. This is why they give such an energy effect. It is nourishing.

I just wish I knew of specific foods that are rich in these. I've just done my best to get free-range meats and eat all natural and do some healthy yoga-type exercises.

But, I've been under a lot of stress lately and haven't taken L-Tyrosine. I can tell I need to again.

I agree that everything is part of the whole body. I have adrenal fatigue in addition to a bunch of other stuff. My chiro said it best "There's only one disease. The Brain is not controlling the body properly." I couldn't agree more. I recently found a vitamin kit online that is smell sensitive. The vitamins are numbered 1-20 and I did NOT look at the individual names just to see if what I was deficient in (by smelling you can tell)... Was what went along with my diagnosis (Lyme, low DHEA, adrenal, thyroid, etc. ). And guess what the vitamins that I needed the most based on smell were all the B-vitamins except for b12 because I was taking 5grams a day of this already. I especially needed B5 pantothenic acid.

Anyway I also take Rhodiola and 5htp for good nights sleep. Sleep is so important and that's one way for the adrenals to get restored.

What I've learned (which is contrary to modern medicine) is that when people are in chronic pain... There are usually MANY, MANY systems out of whack. My gut, adrenals, immune system, joints, neurological, etc. This affects that which affects this which affects that. Slowly but surely I'm addressing each and am feeling better. Am I at 100%, no. But it took years to get to this "messed up" stage and it's going to take some time to get out.

I also maintain a positive attitude and try to meditate and read psychoanalytic books that help with stress. It's a slow process but I already am feeling much better than I have in over 2 years! Good things can happen, you just have to be committed. :) and positive no matter what!

It is important to take sea salt and NOT table salt. I used to feel terrible thirst for over 15 years and water would not quench it. Even fresh orange juice (from our trees) would make me even more thirsty. It is only when I started having Himalayan sea salt - a bit on my tongue followed by water - that I recently noticed that I don't have that unquenchable thirst any more. I definitely increase the salt on my tongue whenever I have fruit etc. as I start to get a lot of saliva in my mouth.

I think that taking 5 mg of lithium orotate could help your stress levels/anger issues. You can take it twice a day and increase the dosage. It is safe and effective for most anxiety related issues. Dr. John Gray has some You Tube videos about it.

Hi, I am wondering if I have adrenal fatigue as for many years I have had huge amounts of stress that I didn't address until about two years ago when I was diagnosed with hbp... doing all I can to keep that under control but no matter what I do keeping stress at bay is very challenging...

Is there any way to test for adrenal fatigue or get it checked somehow? Do not want to go the conventional doctor route either....Besides what can be done about that? I just started on B vitamins and doing calming exercises and all types of calming .. I also use magnesium and lemons and essential oils... Thank You

Re Adrenal fatigue testing;

Yes the whole endocrine system can be evaluated. I had one done fifteen years ago by an alternative MD via Saliva test and sure enough the adrenals were very low. The MD put me on glandular supplements of "raw adrenal" and in a matter of weeks I could tell the difference. I still take the raw adrenal glandular supplements a few times weekly.

I had used raw adrenal caps earlier in my life and they helped then too, but had not been tested at that time for whether the adrenals were deficient; just a shot in the dark.
