I cured bad breath that I had for 10 years by drinking zeolite clinoptilolite! I took 3 dosages of zeolite powder with water daily, for 4 months.
It also helped me to reduce high blood pressure.

Health shop sells black activated charcoal toothpaste in its own right. I used 1 tablet of activated charcoal daily but find that whenever I eat ice cream, sweet or even chew gum bad breath comes back. So I started to use 1 tablet of acidophilus 3billoin today.
I want to be able to eat any food without thinking of bad breath, I am hoping that both activated charcoal and acidophilus will work better.
Having said that activated charcoal have worked though but I just wanted a complete cure.

Thank you all for your candid contributions. I started using activated charcoal capsule once a day and brush with activated tooth paste once a day as well. I found that people are no longer rubbing their noses or moving backward when talking to them.
I have been living with halitosis for 15 years until 2017 when the above remedy worked for me. Previously I have spent thousands of pounds with private dentist, had tooth extractions etc.
Thank you all.

I think that the antibiotics remedy for flu (which is a terrible idea by the way because the flu is a viral infection and antibiotics do nothing) killed your good gut bacteria and your digestion has been severely affected. I would recommend you try taking some probiotics like acidophilus as we'll a state digestive enzymes. These enzymes are plant based but you might also need animal based ones. I found quite by accident that eating pork regularly significantly improved my digestion.

Hello Mc,
About your breath issue. You mentioned in your description the coating on your throat. From that I deduce that you have found the problem; Thrush infection or virus infection. I've kept my throat free from infection by gargling every other day with colloidal silver. Also you might have a sinus infection (maybe low grade) that keeps feeding the problem. So, if me, I'd also learn how to do an irrigation. Earth Clinic has a video of me discussing colloidal silver and I discuss the importance of keeping the system clean of infections by using CS. You can access the video on the colloidal silver page of this site or by googling youtube earth clinic dave Thomas colloidal silver.

MC,,,,,,,,,, have you considered that your bad breathe may be coming from your stomach. If you think that is a possibility then you may want to try ozonated water. You may want to consider that you have H pylori . If that is the case then ozonated water will help address your problem.

Thank you so much for your comment, CB! Actually, my problem began 3 years ago, after I moved to Europe. At that time, I caught a flu and wsa prescribed cortisone shot and azithromicin a day before moving. After this the nightmare began, perhaps 15 days after. I always had minor bad breath, but then it got out of control.
I went already to 4 different dentists, and I have no problem at all with my teeth and gums. Tried several toothpastes, with and without fluoride. Mouthwashes (List... being the one who makes my breath the worst after use). Floss, tongue cleaning. Professional cleaning. Nothing helped. I do have a whitish coat deep in my tongue, not so thick, though. And I feel that in this area and back of my throat (behind uvula and down) there´s more mucus, which keeps the bad taste. I also know that I don´t need to talk in order to people to notice the bad smell, just breathing is enough.
So I went to general doctor, who prescribed Nasonex, which didn´t work. Then I went to an ENT, who didn´t find anything wrong with nose, throat and tonsils. I recall to having used neti pot, but not so often, but the few times I used I saw no difference. Perhaps I should have persisted on it.
I went to a gastro a couple of months before it began, had an endoscopy and ultrasound, but there was nothing wrong. It was 3,5 years ago.
I have lactose intolerance, so eating dairy - which I don´t do often - causes a bad taste, but every food does the same. Perhaps exception for lettuce, which keeps my breath a bit less foul for longer.
I´m always trying new things, changes in diet, but the emotional toll is what is taking more of my energy. I´m always using probiotics, trying some supplements like Vitamin B, C, Zinc, but not in a regular basis.
I tried H2O2 before, which didn´t work, but I decided to give it a new try after reading the thread. For sure the mouth feels cleaner, and the difference is I felt my nose less stuffy, even though I just gargled. But I don´t know if it gave more room only to bad bacteria, so the bad smell in the following morning. My mouth was absolutely drier. I´ll try it again as suggested. Thank you!

Thank you and I am happy life is better for you.

No, I wouldn't give up on the H2o2 remedy. But you might want to try a water pic device before you do the hydrogen peroxide gargle. You might have some kind of tooth or gum infection that is causing the bad breath and must treat that first. I've previously discovered an area in my upper gums that generate terrible smells when the water shoots through the area. If you use the water pic, don't add anything to the water so you can smell if anything is going on when the water hits it. If you use a mouthwash in the water pic, you will mask the smell of the infection. It's a great diagnostic tool in my opinion.
Other things to try are cleansing your sinuses using a neti pot with sea salt and a dash of hydrogen peroxide daily. I have also heard that infected gallbladders can cause bad breath. Good luck to you!

Mimi (Stuttgart),
Since your dentist has likely eliminated a dental cause for the halitosis, it may be time to look at other areas that may be a factor.
Many mouth washes are too strong and can often be counter productive by killing off "good bacteria" in the mouth along with the bad.
Did you complete an antibiotic regimen about or prior to the time you first became aware of your halitosis?
Bad breath can be caused by sinus isuues such as a sinus infection/sunusitis or post nasal drip. If that is an issue, it needs to be dealt with first. There are grapeseed extract nasal sprays that have shown usefullness in helping control some of these bacterial issues.
Another common cause is an imbalanced gut biome. Probiotics in conjunction with prebiotics or quality kefir have shown some benefit in this area and can potentially have a positive effect on sinus issues along with the gut. As a last resort, the fecal transplants may be worth looking into. Do some reading about the relationship of acidophilus or probiotics and bad breath.
Since both of these potential causes are fairly common, it may be worth looking into them before delving deeper for other causes.

After moving to a different country, I´ve been suffering with a horrible breath that plagued my life. I went to several dentists and doctors, and they seem clueless on what to do. Tried several mouthwashes and toothpastes, natural supplements, changes in diet. No relief. I remember I tried baking soda, but it became immediately worse, so I gave up. Perhaps I could try it for a longer time.

I cant but to agree with you. I used to suffer badly from halitosis. I went on triple therapy since I had h.pylori and the bad breath juat vanished after the first day. Meanwhile I went to the dentist to clean up he asked me to floss for the tight teeth and to use the little brush that goes between the teeth in case where a space exiats between a tooth and another. Finally he gave me a gum strengthener to be used 3 times daily but my gum was healthy anyway but I have unaligned teeth which makes them more exposed to left overs getting stuck and the need for maintenance on daily basis besides brushing twice. I am on my second day of tiple therapy. Djangolad, please keep me updated or anyone on this forum who went through triple therapy...

Hi all,
I want to share my experience with halitosis that has been with me since 6 years now. I wish I have stumbled to this forum a long time ago since I'm experiencing the exact similar symptoms. I read all about scraping the tongue, brushing teeth, flossing, hydrogen peroxide I never tried it but what I really know is that the problem lies within the stomach.
I went to a gastrointestinal specialist who prescribed me one pill of vermox for parasites treatment for one time in morning, followed by 2 pills of normix and 1 pill of flagyl each morning and evening for five days. At the time of taking the mediciations, my bad breath decreased enormously to null. After the treatment has finished, the bad breath came up again. It was really affecting my social life; when I wanted to talk to a person I keep a distance so he/she doesn't. Days went by and I started learning more when my bad breath is at its maximum, it is when my mouth is dry, almost all the time when I eat sugar or drink a cup of coffee, the dries after and the smell becomes even worse. Sometimes I feel liquid in my nose which I touch by my hand and it smelled. I don't know if you guys experienced this, but I didn't link it to the bad smell. Until one day 2 weeks ago I experienced a really unbearable stomachache at the top just below the chest bones.
I went to the family doctor who asked me to perform a breath test for H. pylori and take protective pills for my stomach &Gastropan. My breath test came out negative, went back to the doctor and he said it was all a stress and it will go by itself I just need to keep on taking the protective pills for as long as months. I wasn't really convinced with what he said although the pain has decreased in severity but I still had a burning sensation once I drink coffee or eat pepper to a level that I feel I was about to vomit, but didn't.
I went to another gastrointestinal specialist who asked my to do an endoscopy through the mouth and he performed a biopsy. Surprised that my tests showed a moderately active h pylori bacteria and he put me on the triple therapy for a month and half. I'm now on the second week, I asked him about the breath test he said he did not recommend breath test to anyone since it was just a waste of time and money. Lucky me, after one day from the triple therapy my bad breath has gone.
My nose doesn't drain anymore and my saliva's bad smell has disappeared. Now I know what causes the bad breath but I'm really scared that it might come back after I'm done with the therapy!
Anyone there that has finished the triple therapy and destroyed halitosis for good? please... Meanwhile, I will keep you updated.

Honey Water Gargle

Try this mouthwash out before going to bed after brushing your teeth. In the morning there will be no plaque on the teeth. It whitens the teeth and strenghtens the gums. An acquaintance who suffered from bleeding gums and could not find a medical cure tried it and was cured of his bleeding gums. He used it before going to bed, on awakening and after meals. A dentist in west London who tried it stated that it was the best mouthwash ever.
In a glass of warm water add a teaspoon of pure honey and stir well. Gargle your mouth swishing between the teeth. Also gargle your throat. It kills the bacteria lodged between the teeth. The same bacteria is found in of diseased heats. Save yourself form heart disease.
Try it out and recommend it to your family, friends etc. and specially to the medical fraternity who pump useless drugs.
Save money on commercial mouthwashes that do not really do anything.

I forgot to brush my teeth one morning before work, and while standing about 4 ft from her and talking, my daughter was practically crying at the smell. I decided to try a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide that.I found st the Dollar Store, bought a package of plastic shot glasses while there, and took them both home. I immediately started using it by filling those shotglasses 1/2 full of HP and swished around my mouth, for about 30 seconds, morning and night. I made sure.to gargle at the back of my throat, too. It worked like a miracle! Right after the 1st time using it I could tell an intense difference in my mouth, I didn't taste that "tinny taste" that halitosis sufferers know so well, and gained confidence!
I started my 15 yr old son, as well, and within 4 days, yes only 4 days, the kid didn't even have morning breath anymore! He has the sweetest smelling breath ever! All this for a Dollar Store purchase!!

I suffered with bad breath for years. I would pray to God to help me. Family and co-workers would turn the heads or put their hands up to cover their nose. God brought ACV into my life. I discovered my lungs over producing mucous which caused bacteria to grow in the back of my throat and cause BB.
Taking one tsp of ACV, one tsp of water, one tsp of Raw unfiltered honey mix well and drink, Two times a day am and pm take on a empty stomach. Make sure you rinse your mouth thoroughly. Now I am spitting up mucus. No more BB. Glory to GOD. Please share with others, the isolation was brutal.

I just discovered how Apple Cider vinegar can 100% improve bad breath and cure halitosis! I tried everything first! I brushed with baking soda, I gargled with peroxide multiple times a day, I bought tongue brushers. I had used a string of products. I used top grade essential oils. I brushed my teeth 4 times a day. I even own an electric toothbrush!
Nothing worked for three years of searching, perpxide helped but didn't cure it. Essential therapeutic grade peppermint helps but doesn't cure it! I needed a cure!!!
I read an article and gave organic Apple Cider a try. Nothing works like Of the Mother Apple Cider Vinegar!! Wow! Here is what I did and what happened.
So I started of with two teaspoons of A.C. mixed with 3 to 4 oz of water and I would drink it every morning. Then in the evening I would drink one teaspoon mixed with 2 oz of water.
My breath immediately started to improve and after 6 days I don't even have morning breath anymore! Ok, so I was on this for two weeks and decided wow, my breath is amazing, what happens if I stop? ..My breath was still fairly good for three days after I stopped but then started to get bad, and on the last day, day 5, I couldn't take it and started back on my routine.
I am up to a tablespoon in the morning and a teaspoon at night. I mix both with at least a few ounces of water. (Please vary this to find what works for you) I have been on it again for a whole week, this morning I woke up thirsty, but I had FRESH BREATH! I mean like .02% of an order but a mild barely there because of dry mouth is normal. I just did my teaspoon of A.C.V. and brushed my teeth. I am so amazed!
I am sure to buy this and do this routine for the rest of my life. Good thing is any grocery store sells this!
I don't even need my tongue cleaners anymore. I heard this stuff was good but, I had to try it for myself. Also, it is not acidic on the stomach like some may worry about, it seams to neutralize the acid from coffee and helps me with heartburn.
This is a no joke cure! I'm a regular female that suffered from halitosis and now it is gone! Now, I only now brush my teeth in the morning and before bed.

Hello,
Have you tried drinking the tea GYMNEMA SYLVESTRE? This is very helpful for diabetes, and also for yeast. It is helping me. I have yeast issues and breath issues. Gymnema sylvestre helps with cravings, blood sugar, and apparently helps people get of off diabetes medication. I have lost a touch of weight as those insane yeasty cravings are basically gone, and when I eat I feel satisfied. It hasn't helped the bb, but overall, it has helped me with the blood sugar issue, the cravings for carbs, sweets, etc. It apparently kills the fungal form of yeast.

I have found the only toothpaste that is remotely effective (although I still have bb) are the Eco Dent powder toothpastes. I like anise and cinnamon. Anything else on this planet doesn't work.
I am going to try drinking diatomaceous earth. Also attack the yeast issue I have.

Hi there, your story sounds like mine, I found out about tonsil stones after I looked in my 10 year old son's mouth after months of bad breath and doctor not being able to help me, and what looked like mini tic tacs (mints) on his tonsil, I was horrified, then googled it and over 4 days have removed all this gunk from both tonsils, bad breath has subsided dramatically. This bought back memories of me coughing up smelly balls of mucus in my 20's. I've had him gargle with salt water and ACV (separately).

Although you are a dentist, you are wrong. Flossing is only a part cure. There are different types of BB. Ever time I clear my throat a nasty smell occurs. Hi Yusuf. The brown "slimy" substance that you found in the ACV is called "the mother", and you don't have to worry about it, it's actually the most nutritious part of ACV.
Also, keep a small dark bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide in the staff bathroom at work. Gargle with it and drip some down your nostrils, too. This should work for you in short order. Keep the faith.

But few days ago, I irrigated my nose using mix of water/h202 and brushed way back my tonsils! Keeping the electronic brush to the sides so I wont gag. BOY, MIRACLE. For those of us who have tried everything under the sun to control Bad Breath but did not help. It is genetic. Here is what I found that helps, for myself at least. The bb is not from below but from above, when nasal drip get stuck or hangs around.
Irrigate with saline water each night before bedtime after your usual oral routine.
For daytime, chew one clove and keep one in your mouth. Unlike mints which dissolves in 5 minutes, it stays in your mouth at least for 4 hours without any sugar and it will stop the odor from being offensive.
Chew one and keep one in your mouth at all times. It is small, harmless and keeps the pleasant order for a long, long time. Easy to carry in pockets and purses too and it does not perish, melt or lose potency.

I hear you John. Dr's don't know that is why they ignore all who complain. I have been reading about all the BB on the net for the past 2 weeks and it makes anyone cry how much suffering they have gone through and yet no one hears them. Strange. I heard a lecture about some condition fishi breath which is caused by the inability to break down choline. But those ppl have body order as well. BB is another type of metabolic disorder, something is not being able to metabolize and it is excreted via the breath. What type of enzyme is lacking, I do not know. That is what I believe. The only solution is, every hour, rinse and brush (does not have to be with toothpaste) dry brush to remove debris out, drink water, chew on raw vegetable gum. There is no solution to permanently remove, hourly and mindfully remove the built-up bacterial debris out of the back of the mouth, tongue and rinse.

It's coming from your tongue. I suffer from bad breath since 1984. I very spent at least 20000 dollars. I had tonsillectomy, septum surgery, went see Dr spider in Australia., Dr Katz in California, Dr miller in virginia. Nothing helps. One day I decided to cure myself. I very noticed my tongue was always white. I bought a tongue brush and started to brush my tongue as hard I could for 5 minutes. My mouth was bloody but the pain was nothing compared to 30 years of embarrassment. I clean my mouth with warm water. Voila! My life changes from that moment. No more bad taste. I immediately went to the supermarket and started talking on the phone to see how people reacts. No reaction whatsoever. That was the first I ever talk to the cashier I even say thank you just to test my breath.
Once again it's your tongue. Don't use toothbrush. Use a tongue brush . You need to get rid of the white film. The bacterias live underneath.
Good luck.

Yes, it actually works. My husband had bad breath which was causing me to not want to kiss him. He also had a tooth that was growing inside the gum. I think that may have also been part of the problem because it was infected. He went to the dentist and took the tooth out and the dentist told him to mix his mouthwash with a little peroxide when he gargles. The bad breath is totally gone! I use it too and do a breath check with my sister who is obsessed with her breath and she didn't smell a thing. So, you can gargle with the mixture and brush while it's in your mouth for best results.

Anyway, if you have the same terrible breath problem please go to a vitamin store or online and buy a bottle of Betaine (HCL) plus pepsin. 625 betaine plus 100 pepsin.
